Look at that smug motherfucker

>living that far from the reef on open sand

What bumpkins.

What do you think SpongeBob keeps in his garage?

He doesn't have a boat or a license.

Why don't we ever see SpongeBob's garage?

The bodies

I never appreciated the worldbuilding in SpongeBob when I was younger. It really is a pretty cartoon.

Don't be ridiculous.

He keeps those in the lot behind the Krusty Krab.

Maybe this is just nostalgia speaking, but the original seasons of Spongebob have a wonderful atmosphere. I didn't dwell on it until I was older, but the "1950's/1960's seafaring/surfing/luau" aesthetic helps the show stand out in my memory. There aren't any other cartoons I can think of that pull of the retro throwback look while making it feel fresh and original. Besides the show's unique art style, it also has something to do with the score. The mixture of 60's library music, sea shanties, lounge, exotica, and surf rock nicely compliment the way the show looks and feels. I'd argue it's the most creative use of music in a modern cartoon outside of EEnE, as all the jazz in that was originally-composed with specific musical cues for each character.

Take note of the song titles, which frequently reflect the aesthetic:

I'm disappointed that they mostly dropped the Blue Hawaii/Dick Dale vibe after the movie. I barely remember any of the post-movie episodes for many reasons, but the show losing that unique lounge charm was certainly a part of it.

they dropped it after s1

No they didn't? Maybe it's more overt in season 1, but everything still has that same look in seasons 2 and 3, plus the sound design is consistent all the way through. Obviously not all of the music falls under the genres I mentioned (IE, that one song Pantera did), but it's definitely there.

no it's fucking not, season 1 has its completely own charm. s2 and s3 feel like I'm watching a completely different show

Dead Nigger storage

I thought there was supposed to be a sign for that.
