So which was better?

I think Infinity War gets the edge because it had more fun character interactions, but Endgame is definitely the deeper, more emotional movie.

I saw it today, so it might just be be bc its so fresh in my mind and I really liked it, but Endgame, easily. It gave me everything I wanted in Infinity War. I love IW, but the one thing it lacked was the main three, especially Cap facing off against Thanos, this movie delivers on that, so it gets brownie points from me based on that alone. Also, the final battle in Endgame makes the Wakanda battle in IW look like the battle of Naboo from episode I.

Infinity War. The fights in End Game aren't hectic and is full of slow character moments and characters posing since it was insecure that it wasn't giving enough of the returning characters moments.

What do you mean by slow? I get what you mean about posing, but I feel like it was a given you're gonna showcase all the returning characters who were dead for the majority of the movie.

Characters were to busy talking when a huge fight was happening around them without anybody attacking them. It sorta made the fight look small. I mean I expected somebody to attack Gamora/Quill while they were talking or Hope/Scott while they were in the van but they were getting ignored for no reason. It sorta broke how the pace of the fight should look. Thanos vs the three Avengers was great though. Could've benefited from less cuts.

Okay I see what you mean now. Yeah I noticed that too. Like we saw literally hundreds of characters on opposing sides going against each other in this huge battle, then all the sudden some of them are given like 3 minutes to sat and chit chat. That's a valid complaint. I still loved all the action bits surrounding those parts, though.

Endgame was retarded fan service. Endgame would be been better if the cut like 45mins out

it was fan service that made sense, though. Like, this is a movie that has been built up over the course of 11 years and 22 movies. Of course you're gonna get tons of fan service. Unlike most anime where you get fan service literally every other ep and most fans don't seem to care because most of the time its good fap material.

This movie was my kind of fap material. It took forever and its finally ending, but this movie delivered pretty much everything I was hoping for minus a few nitpicks and shit that couldn't work out due to legal/real world shit like netflix characters not showing up. As far as what was within the realm of possibility, Endgame was fucking amazing. IW is still great, but its essentially a prelude to the conclusion of this saga in the MCU.

Resolving character arcs/relationships in a 11 year finale=/=fanservice

objectively infinity war

endgame got me more emotionally though. It's just such a fucking satisfying ending.

this

like seriously what did you expect, lol

Infinity War because it was basically entirely about Thanos

Pretty much. The Wakanda battle in IW was good but not as a finale set piece, which is what it was for a year. Endgame is the type of big, grand finale battle that was needed. I think watching IW and Endgame back to back is going to be worth doing when both are out. I'd be interested in seeing a fan edit where IW transitions into Endgame seamlessly... probably Thanos on farm, cut to black for 30 seconds with some music, the Hawkeye scene, maybe the IW post credit but rescored and so on so it feels more sinister, then the WARES FURY? scene and then Iron Man and Nebula adrift.

yeah exactly. I never had a problem with the Wakanda fight, I just think it pales in comparison to the Endgame battle, which is understandable given it's the big finale battle.

I can't fucking wait for the blu-ray to come out and watch these suckers back to back. 5 and a half hours of pure comic book awesomeness.

Infinity War in structure, Endgame in content

agreed. If Endgame had similar pacing and structure as IW it would've been 10/10 perfect.

I mean... how could Endgame have had similar pacing to IW? The quiet character moments and such were definitely needed. How do you rework the story to have the same sense of urgency whilst also having the character and breather moments?

You're applying entire story elements to pacing. Pacing is timing and rhythm of the story, how it moves and how fast it feels like its moving. It doesn't mean if bad or good things are happening to the characters.

IW had tons of buildup as well as action, but the way in which the buildup was timed felt way more natural than in Endgame where it was literally all over the place, understandably because its a 3 hour long time travel movie.

Infinity War by far, but Endgame holds a special place in the MCU tierlist for being a competent finale where many franchises fail at having one for even just a three movie series

Age of Ultron.
Endgame, for the fan service and all the characters being there for the final battle

Infinity War was cleaner but end games content was WAY more interesting and entertaining. IW is two sides, tony dick measuring with all the people he meets and getting dabbed on by Thanos, and Capt just kinda globe hopping fighting literally who's and fighting in wakanda to also get dabbed on (also thor makes a weapon). Few people get really good moments, and it doesn't really have anything going for it except characters meeting and the shock of the snap itself. On the other hand almost everyone got a good scene in endgame, it had way cooler concepts than thanos mad dashing for a majority of the stones in a short period, and left us with some painful and some cathartic ends while setting up potential for the next phase.

You pretty much just said everything I've been thinking.

IW had better pacing and felt more consistent throughout, whereas Endgame basically went all out balls to the wall content overflow, while also still being really good. Which I why I said this IW would've been wayyyyy better if it didn't focus almost entirely on Tony's group while occasionally popping in to see whats up at Wakanda or in space.

I love them both a lot and I think they should almost be judged as a singular story desu.

It's a shame they never established some kind of intergalactic UN in the MCU composed of Kree, Xandarians, Shi'ar, etc. that we see for a brief scene with them reacting to Thanos finally making moves and gathering the stones. They don't do anything but it just shows this a series of events that has the entire universe paying attention and holding its breath and being terrified over the idea of Thanos winning.

>I love them both a lot and I think they should almost be judged as a singular story desu.
This. As said elsewhere, both films, taken as a whole, do fix certain things. Cap is shafted in IW? Problem is fixed back to back viewings. Wakanda was an underwhelming finale? Well it wasn't a finale; it was an action setpiece within a bigger story and the real finale is in New York state.

Iw. But the last 30 minutes of EG are the best thing in any cape movie

The setting for the final fight as lovely visually. Dark, etc. cause of all the smoke with flashes of the bright sun cause it's technically during the day. Any other films with this type of environment during big fights?

>more emotional movie
Which is weird because Endgame was definitely far more goofier than IW.
But that ending man. Wasn’t expecting that kind of performances from that many different actors.

Infinity War because it's more tightly plotted and keeps things going at a good pace throughout, rendering the story as a whole more satisfying. Endgame takes the edge in terms of best climax, though.

Infinity War is better as a whole. But as a celebration of a decade of MCU? Endgame is better

>no scott and quill interaction ever

I thought the wide shot with the sun beaming through on Thor/Cap/Tony and Thanos in the dark smokey area was a bit tropey. But I liked it none the less.

Endgame by a mile.

Infinity War was way better as a movie and more competent.

Endgame was fun but just felt like a time travel movie with the MCU cast.

Honestly Infinity War.
I hate to be THAT guy but Endgame, storywise, isn't very good.
They rush the beginning the second act is mostly whimsical with no real tension. Third act is pretty good.
These films arnt on the same level.
There was this amazing sense of momentum in Infinity War that's just absent from Endgame until you get the big showdown and then it's just cool fights til we gear to a nice emotional conclusion.

Infinity War: 8/10
Endgame :6/10

I might have given the edge to Endgame if it had a more solid final fight but everything between Assemble and I am Iron man was everyone just playing football with the glove without giving some characters like Quill, Drax, Groot, Bucky, War Machine, Hulk and Strange (a fucking dam) anything good to do

I'm just happy we can talk about which good movie is the most good. I mean there were any number of pitfalls that could have ruined either movie, or both. But these two films wrapped up about as well as anyone could have expected them to, if not better. The commercial and critical success is clear as day, but aside from that I think both movies stand as a great triumph of world building and storytelling in the cinematic medium, individually and as a duology, and as a capstone to more than a decade of cinematic experiences.

Infinity war
>No where near the amount of plot holes
>Far better paced
>Didn't inadvertently ruin characters or previous films (apart from quill)
>Had more emotional weight and impact
>Less fanservicey
>Thanos was more developed and was a far more enjoyable threat in Infinity War
>No fortnite

The only thing that Endgame got right is that it ended, and even then it took it an hour longer than it should have

For me, it's Endgame.

They're both so close, I can't choose

I dunno why people say the final fight of EG was better, i mean Captain Marvel's entrance was just a less impactful version of Thor's since Thor had like 6 extra movies under his belt

I also hated how when Cap, Thor & Tony started to fight Thanos, it instantly cut to other shit, the fight on Titan was better because of this, unless you really like Cap getting mjolnir

First one. OK sounds like Tony.

What the film's an opinion.
The movie was sappy in the weirdest way and convoluted for the most understandable reasons. Honestly Solo glad I didn't go see this in 4D X defo and Imax movie or 4K probably those last scenes seemed bracken like busy but also so expensive and fanservice-ey you can't hate it. Just squint.

I feel like someone died in real life just because it def feels like the end.

If I could have gotten the kind of Doctor Strange action from Infinity War in the End Game final battle I would have nut myself for sure.

The Black Order needed to be doing shit in End Game, instead of just being, well i guess not recruited by Thanos yet

>these two films wrapped up about as well as anyone could have expected them to, if not better.
This. I feel like some one actually died and I think it might be the spirit of autist that Public Relations people affect to stir shit.
This movie's done and Far From Home is there to pick up the pieces for people expecting a over the top film, the 4DX Far From Home's going to be the future of the blockbuster film

But they were in the Endgame final fight

>instead of just being, well i guess not recruited by Thanos yet
They were there though, Maw got more scenes than most of the returning dusted characters

I guess IW was a bit more entertaining, but Endgame was a MASSIVELY better as a movie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated for awards besides VFX.

>movie is called Infinity War.
>the war for the infinity stones happens in Endgame.
