I would appreciate it! Been meaning to read it somewhere along the lines but never actually got down to it. My thanks if you pull through with the storytime!
decent.,... not sure I wanna follow it.. no clue why the lady in the office was suddenly getting fucked by him and being angry... but overall it was aight... can tell the superheroes in this are idiots and assholes.
Justin Collins
Looks line The Boys Are Back In Town.
Jason Parker
ignore him op, i've been wanting to see this one
William Gonzalez
>was going to read a few chapters of this to see how edgy it is >get hooked and read the whole thing in a weekend >now in my top 10 It's honestly so good, the extreme violence/sex/overall edge works because of the godtier character writing and how enjoyable their interactions are.
Charles Powell
bump! does the Yea Forums image downloader plugin for chrome not work anymore? ugh!
Lucas Kelly
kek
Josiah Perez
How'd that bird get under there???
Bentley Allen
>for chrome Meh. The moment it started bothering me and required I did more work to get around not downloading what I want without effort I just got firefox. Don't see any difference.
This scene has to be in the show. They can't possibly leave it out, it's fucking amazing, and not even explicit until maybe the cam footage later that they don't have to actually show. I'm really looking forwards to the show but have little hope they aren't going to censor the WOKE the fuck out of it. Queen Maeve actually Wonder Womaning it up in the trailer instead of bored/passive-aggressively being an alcohlic in the corner felt like a bad sign.
Exactly my concern. Realistically speaking if they don't push it too far, then there isn't any point in making it. It has a few golden moments, and some superhero comentary, but we already have live-action stuff that's done that, and probably better than a stripped down Boys could.
Isaiah Flores
End of volume one. If you like it buy the trade, etc., etc. If you want me to do volume 2 tomorrow let me know, but that's all from me for tonight.
i'm very afraid but the Doom Patrol serie gives me hope
Ayden Thomas
Thanks user. I already have the first 3 volumes on my shelf, but always good to read it this way.
Joshua Carter
This is my first time reading though this. I've heard Yea Forums sing praises for a long time, but now I understand why. It's a shame I didn't pick it up sooner, 'cause I'm a fan of Ennis' work. Thanks for the storytime, OP. I'd love to see Volume 2.
Connor Scott
thanks for storytime, can't wait for next volume I hope the new blondie will be saved.
David Scott
thanks user
this *is* better than the rest of the meta i've seen so far
will look for you tomorrow then
Camden Thompson
I think Seth Rogen is producing it?
Ryan Hall
Pee pee poo poo sausage party
Asher Rogers
Oh. Who's the old British actor they based Butcher on? I think this one in particular is based on a shot of him.
Nathan Miller
Somewhere I have the original issues, even the first DC / Wildstorm ones before DC chickened out.
Joseph Richardson
Sometimes butcher looks like Harrison Ford
Lincoln Murphy
>even the first DC / Wildstorm ones before DC chickened out. Tell me more?
Brayden Collins
the first 6 issues were published by Wildstorm, but they cancelled it because DC didn't like how anti superhero it was. Luckily Ennis kept the rights and went over to Dynamite, who published the rest of the series.
James Parker
Oh I see, so the same stuff as in the first trade then? For a second I thought there was material I hadn't seen.
Camden Cook
Is it really fridging if it's part of the protag's origin story?
Jace Powell
>A lot of the shit that's in here wouldn't fly today Not this shit again.
Joshua Morgan
I'm not one of those assholes who says that all the time, but it's true in the case of the boys.
Brandon Cruz
It really is. Isn't there a part where one of the villains is threatening to rape a retarded girl or something, in a X-Men knock off school? I forgte as its been a very long while, but people can't recognise parody or commentary (let alone context) anymore. Hell, image related would also probably cause a Twitter shitstorm.
So this guys power is unlimited time travel and turning other into statues? Looks op as fuck. and I love it. The best thing about the comic so far it's how supes are abusing their power. I know it's exaggerated in most cases but I can totally see many of those things happening in a world with superpowers. I hope there will be few supes we can root for or supes rulling like kings in 3rd world countries
Lucas Davis
That's not actually from the Boys. Believe it or not, it's a DC comic, mainline, though admittedly I've forgotten which one.
I do like the Boys a lot, but it IS very mean spirited all the way through. I can see why DC wanted to distance themselves from it. DC's Hitman is more in line with how they like to tell cynical cape stories.
Parker Collins
id love for boys volume 2 user. thanks for the storytime
Blake Edwards
Heh
Connor Davis
It's from The Authority, I think.
Jaxson Taylor
I actually don't really understand what he means. Can anyone help a brother out?
Nathaniel Williams
Remember that time they had those Avengers parodies?
Tyler Robinson
>pearl harbor 2 Had did they mean by this?
Noah Jenkins
It meant Michael Bay made another shitty movie.
Brandon Bell
Thanks for the storytime, both of you. Been meaning to get around to finally reading this. I like the concept of this comic, but it's a little more cartoonishly villainous than I was expecting. Not bad, just...I thought it'd be a little more grey.
That's Ennis's usual writing strategy from what I've seen. The story starts cartoonish with maybe one or two dramatic moments, and before you know it you're somehow emotionally invested in these characters and when the tragic stuff happens it hits you way harder than a story that had hamsters up asses or the pope fucking nuns should have hit you.
Kinda feel bad about Tek-Knight. He legit doesn't want to become a superpowered pile of hedonism.
Elijah Murphy
I get a pro-wrestling vibe from the way the superheroes are portrayed in this, but cranked up to eleven. It's all of the drama and in-fighting that WWE is known for, but everyone has superpowers and is degenerate to the letter. I love it.
Jackson Myers
They are also all rapists.
Connor Murphy
Yeah, they're all gay, rapists and have AIDS. Kind of like your average furry convention.
Nathaniel Diaz
Hey, I spy Eduardo and Wilt
Cameron Johnson
Probably a bit late, but wipong your ass on the flag is gonna get people in an uproar so he doesn't want to do that just yet.
Eli Peterson
I dunno, man. I mean these captchas are killing me...
Dominic Green
The series can be found easily online if you're too eager to wait for storytimers.
Xavier Bell
Is there a reason why Ennis made every hero a rapist, drug addict or gay?
Gabriel Rodriguez
he gets a kick out of subverting norms but lacks the creativity to subvert your expectations in the process
Dominic Gray
Bought this entire run after a storytime here a couple years back. Bless you OP.
Nathan Perez
We didn't get half the shit that happened in the Preacher comic either, don't get your hopes up
Joshua Lee
To start everything as black/white in a raunchy way, so he can get the jokes out and then slowly reel you in before he kicks in the dramatics.
Lincoln Edwards
Kek.
Michael Moore
Can you recommend similar comics to this one? Something dark, spiked with gallows humour.
Alexander Anderson
ah no worries bro. thanks for what you've already done
Josiah Moore
By Garth Ennis himself give Preacher a look. Pretty great 60 issue run.
Also maybe Ronin by Frank Miller. The first story to have his topless Nazi woman.
Christopher Gray
thanks OP
Isaac Sullivan
Bump for patient waiting.
Luis Sullivan
Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up the slack again. Here's the rest of volume 2.
Dude, fuck this doctor. This should be ticking some worrying boxes but he just decided 'fuck it, the dude's too annoying for me' when he AGAIN exhibits worrying thought processes
