It was like someone took the plot of 60s Adam West Batman and made the tone absurdly edgy. It was fun, stupid, and every once in awhile honestly kinda great. I liked it but I don’t know why and it keeps me awake at night

I didn't care for the first season or so; but it grew the beard when they offed Fish Moony and focused more on Penguin and Riddler.
Then it slowly crawled up it's own asshole and I didn't even bother to finish watching the latest season.
I'd say the biggest problem was the premise: because they made Jim Gordon into an amazingly self-righteous jackass who constantly insists others follow the letter of the law while he, himself, constantly does whatever the fuck he feels like at the moment and justifies it after the fact.
