It's not really intended as a combat tool, but for utility. It can be used to clean equipment, burn through bonds, and likely aids in breaking down more durable things that a space marine may be forced to eat for survival's sake.

The actual question is if an Astartes can have kids. Doesn't need to have sex. Just if his jizz is capable of getting women pregnant. And before you ask, no, the stuff that turns boys into 7F-tall power armored killing machines cannot be inherited since they are essentially bio-boosters and not actual genetic modifications. If there is one thing children of Space Marines would inherit, then it would be the genetic compatibility needed to take in the implants.
