This is giving me homestuck vibes in a VERY BAD way. I remember that guest artists were used in the last few flashes and always resulted in a massive plunge in quality. Consistency matters, having other artists do backgrounds and shit is fine but unless the art shift in intentional for some reason (such as exaggerating an emotion or something), having someone else draw your main fucking character throws that out the window.

Of course it’ll be a trap. I’m tired of bad events and the snail pacing, I just want out of Kvatch.

I agree, if you're going to use different artists at least make an excuse for it like a dream sequence or another dimension.

Changing art style randomly,specially when the comic was previously drawn with one single style all the time is just a mess.

This artist style makes Katia personality looks completelly different, she looks way more serious and charming, more like a female fatale than the typical child-like airhead.

Anyone would panic in her position. I get that the gap between the time she burnt down Akatosh’s chapel and now is probably six years by now, but she did develop as a character, and became much more confident in herself and her potential.

Actually it seems less like a spell and more like a latent control of fire, she's utilized it in several different ways including just passively lighting things on fire by being present.

Who gives a shit about quality. I'd take MS Paint doodles if it meant that we actually got timely updates. The desire for "quality" is what causes Kaz to delay updates for over a year.

Prequel Pictures are extremely dast to draw, Kaz would take forever to update even without pictures. Just Like Hussie took years to post the epilogue.

I've probably talked about it before, but one of the things I always really liked about Homestuck was the way it approached art inconsistency as a style of its own. Like, with what I've established in Prequel I can throw anatomical changes mid-update and change the level of visual complexity pretty freely. But I think and made good points on this particular one, and also people kept asking me if this was a permanent art change - probably because it came at the end, rather than in the middle like the attached image.

I haven't lost interest in the comic. But, I also don't think I've ever made it a secret that I don't like drawing all that much. I like deciding what to draw, and I like having the drawings get done, but the process of actually doing it is just kind of laborious.

There are people who can do it faster, and also who can enjoy the process more, and part of the reason I work with other people so much is because I want to get better at doing so. Like, get a better sense for which things I should outsource and which I should handle myself, get over that thing where I will literally wait a year for someone to finish a job that was supposed to take one afternoon, etc.

I think Hussie's style changes work because all those style changes are extensions of each other. Even when you get really far out panels like pic related you can still trace its lineage back to John standing in his room

Homestuck pride itself on being a "crappy looking comic", with poorly drawn pics and shitty photoshop everywhere, that's not exatcly the case with Prequel

The problem is that most of those are by waifufags looking to create waifu fodder. If it were just honest furry fapbait you'd get something like Las Lindas. But Prequel knock offs are characterized by focusing on a perfect ray of sunshine MC that has a very shallow and menial flaw, quirk or problem instead of having something genuinely wrong with them at a personality level. That Katia lingers on being unlikably stupid, stubborn and impulsive is her main drive to develop herself. After all, her troubles all started because she was too eager to start being successful literally right off the boat. Her mistakes pile on eachother because she keeps creating situations for them to occur.

A character like Katia cannot work if it's too obvious they're being put through the ringer despite their objectively correct actions to make you like them. Their helplessness must be a product of inherently problematic behaviors and mindsets they produce.
