Who is best Captain Marvel? And which one should replace Carol in the MCU?
Captain Marvel
>inb4 Billy Batson
Billy Batson
>in after Billy Batson
Pic related has the best costume IMO.
>Who is best Captain Marvel?
Carol.
I loved the fact that Carol's EG costume is so similar to the one Mar Vell wears after the bands redesign
Genis is my favorite of this bunch. Loved the PAD run.
I like Genis best as a character but thought Khn'nr was most compelling in the role. There's no way the MCU is going to replace Carol but I could see them using an amalgam of the Vell kids (maybe with a bit of Noh-Varr too) as a potential antagonist/turn side-kick in the future.
The boy had enough charisma to actually convince The Avengers to summon a bunch of elder gods just to cure his cancer.
Eh... Looks fine in EMH but I can't say I liked in the comics.
I actually just read this a few mins ago and wanted to ask- where they setting up Noh-var (I think that's his name, I understand there's a Morrison mini? I want to read) to be the next Captain Marvel at this point?
This was legit a cool costume I'd love a figure of it.
Do you think the Russos might have wanted Mar-Vell in the first place but were pushed into using Carol? I mean between the suit obviously being Mar-Vell's and the shockingly little screentime, it kind of seems like they didn't quite get to do their and just made it as close as they could.
And speaking of MCU Captain Marvel, does anyone else sort of suspect she might either have been intended to either be a combo of Mar-Vell and Carol or just straight up Mar-Vell? Because the more I think about it, the feminist lip service and amnesia plot kind of has that mandated rewrite stink all over it.
I think they were trying but couldn't really figure out what to do with the character until Gillen reworked him into a hipster bimbo. The Morrison mini was good, though and I'm bummed that a lot of the neat stuff in it never got picked up by other writers.
Nah, it was always going to be Carol. Disney and Marvel have been pushing her for almost a decade just so they can finally have their own Wonder Woman. They're just not very good at it.
>There's no way the MCU is going to replace Carol
She's at least 50. Do her powers slow down her aging in the movie universe?
For me it’s a toss between Genis, Phyla and Khn'nr
who?
Noobmaster69
He better behave.
The robot one and the green guy then the OG
I'll tell you that the whole "I'm gonna kill Thanos" conflict would be a lot more significant if it was Mar Vell instead of Carol. The one thing my autism can't forgive about this movies is not giving Thanos one of their legendary rivals in the shape of Warlock or Mar... ofc this would.involve rewriting the CM movie and also adding a reason to tie his origin to a personal reason to go after Thanos beyond avenging Fury
>Do her powers slow down her aging in the movie universe?
In both movies and comics, yes. Kree don't krack.
>Do you think the Russos might have wanted Mar-Vell in the first place but were pushed into using Carol?
Nope. Truth is, barely anyone cares about Mar-Vell beyond the tradition of him being one of the classic heroes... And even back then he wasn't that popular to begin with. I'm saying this as a Starlin fan too, but the most iconic story about him happens to be his death, so there.
Monica
That she's explicitly beneath Carol in the MCU really grinds my gears
>Normie answer: Mar-Vell
>Comiscgate answer: Monica Rambeau
>Correct answer: Genis-Vell
>Edgelord answer: Phyla-Vell
>Underage answer: Noh-Varr
>Weeaboo answer: Marvin Ellwood
>Hipster answer: Khn'nr
>Contrarian answer: Carol Danvers
>Bizarro answer: Karla Sofen
>DCuck answer: Billy Batson
You know they're going to make Kamala Khan the next one after Carol, right?
How could Mar-Vell be a normie answer if nobody knows who the fuck he is beyond comic fans'
You're right abour Genis-Vell though, but to me that's also the edgelord answer. Truth is, Phyla's tenure as Captain Marvel was pretty short, and she did squat with the powers. People confuse her time as Quasar as her time as Captain Marvel, but she was also a very weak Quasar, couldn't really reach Wendell's potential.
Monica Rambeau really is one of the strongest, I'd say right below Genis, but recently she got nerfed out of her own volition (because she was losing her humanity), so she's probably at Carol's levels right now w/o Binary mode.
So an actual objective ranking would be:
Genis-Vell > Peak Monica Rambeau > Binary Mode Carol Danvers > Current Monica Rambeau = Carol Danvers > Mar-Vell = Noh-Varr > Phyla-Vell Quasar > Khn'nr > Phyla-Vell Captain Marvel
>Normie answer: Mar-Vell
The guy's been dead since 1982, and rarely gets used anywhere. Nobody under around 50 who isn't really into comics has any idea who he is.
kalaol should be bizarro
While it seems obvious to some, I don't think it will happen (we shall see where Saladin Ahmed is leading that story first), simply because Kamala is a lot like Spidey in which she helps the little people and is mostly relegated to her hometown in New Jersey. This low scales, street-level focus is what has made her popular, so giving her a cosmic role or a larger responsibility would fundamentally change the character in ways most people wouldn't like.
Mar-Vell is the normie answer because normies think he's the only other one besides Carol
You're more likely to get a bad description of Adam Warlock as a guess for who the other Captain Marvel was than to hear Mar-Vell. The guy's a complete unknown to most people.
THE REAL CAPTAIN MARVEL
>The guy's a complete unknown to most people.
This. Even though both of them were Thanos' antagonists, it's Adam Warlock who's universally known as the one who can go directly toe-to-toe with him and who serves as his direct counterpart. Not that Mar-Vell couldn't do that, but he doesn't have the same clout.
Ultimate...
At least two other Kamalas in alternate futures have become the new Captain Marvel. It's a safe assumption that any Kamala stands a good chance of inheriting the title in time.
They've been experimenting with Kamala for a while, that's normal. I'm only pointing out that it would go against the things she's liked for, almost like giving Spider-Man a leadership role in the Avengers.
She's a fine leader right now in Champions, so if the Captain Marvel mantle is in her future, I'd say she'd need to grow into her 20's first and matured enough to take the responsibility.
Kree live to be about 200. But movie Carol isn't a Kree so who knows about that one
