I thought the backgrounds were fun and interesting. Mushroom's house was pretty cute and fun.
I laughed twice: once at the "small and weird" line and then again during the "how do they kiss?" line. Two decent jokes.
The character designs are a little hit or miss, but in Op's pic: I'd totally smooch the blonde gnome in the pink dress and the dark-blue haired gnome in the blue dress. Regardless of gender. A lot of these other gnomes look like they were dropped on their heads as kids or were raised by hard boiled eggs, lel.
The voice actors were also pretty alright. I liked Mushroom's voice and.. Think she also played that little cinnamon bun from Adventure Time? Popop's voice was also pleasant.

I will say, though: the boar's eyes moving via that deliberate tween (or whatever it's called) and the rest of the boar basically not moving AT ALL as his eyes followed Mushroom was super fuckin' awkward and bad.

I dunno, I liked it. It was fun. I don't see why so many of you guys are being overtly negative flagrant homos about this otherwise inoffensive and pleasant cartoon.

This is just so bland I only made it two minutes in. It's crap, and the same crap all the same people in Hollywood fucking make. So boring.

Complaining about "calarts style" (whatever that means) is the equivalent of disregarding a cheap looking movie just because it doesn't look like a blockbuster. Who gives a fuck if these cartoons don't look like Disney, the artists are clearly working hard and cutting corners so their show can get made in the first place. They're using clever techniques to keep it lively, cute, and wholesome despite their limitations and you people are shitting on it because someone else told you BEAN MOUTH BAD. Literally every other artist in burbank, including the ones for that thing you liked, will tell you you're being unfair and picky and shitty, you're mistaking brilliant basic building blocks of appeal as a style unto itself. If anything, that's a testament to how timeless this style really is. I look forward to this getting at least two seasons over any of the other weird ugly gross stuff you hipsters are into.

They have the money to make it look good, they just don't want to invest it because "dumb kids will eat it up anyway". This is a decision based ONLY on economic facts, not any sort of stylistic decisions or optimization that lets them pay their animators and writers more. And they will continue to treat the audience as a band of imbeciles that would watch whatever Korean sweatshop slop as long as no one complains. If you enjoy this shit, then get the fuck out of here, because you certainly don't give a flying fuck about good cartoons.

CN has a sweatshop in Asia that churns out cartoons in this particular "Calarts" style for 5 cents and a sandwich per day of work. You either "create" a cartoon trough them, or remain a random weeb with an overpriced degree and a webcomic.

No, really, if I didn't know better I'd swear CN was just using some sort of computer program that just scans rating statistics and shit and digitally created an entire pilot using nothing but algorithms. It's fucking scary how unimaginative this is.
