Now that AVENGERS: ENDGAME is wrapping everything up, let's take a look back on the road so far.

>Timothy Olyphant, Sam Rockwell and Clive Owen auditioned for Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast.

>Rachel McAdams was approached for Pepper Potts before Gwyneth Paltrow was cast.

>Early drafts featured the Mandarin as a corrupt Chinese businessman who led the 10 Rings and created the Crimson Dynamo armor to fight Iron Man, before Jon Favreau decided to build up to him in a trilogy instead of Stane.

>In early drafts, Stark would fight Stane in the prototype Mark IV armor, which includes a shoulder-mounted gattling gun and would later become the War Machine armor.

>In early drafts, Stark would throw Stane into a vat of acid rather than have him caught in an explosion. When the armor is retrieved, Stane's body is gone, indicating he might have survived.

>The movie was filmed mostly without a script, with actors ad-libbing most of their lines based on production guidelines. Production was so chaotic that both the cast and the producers expected the movie to be a disaster until test-screenings reported surprisingly positive audience reception.

>Norton was a fan of THE WIRE and added a subplot about a man played by Michael K. Williams, who reaches out to the Hulk during the Battle of Harlem to stop the destruction. The subplot was almost entirely cut and Williams' role reduced to a cameo.

>Norton also added an extended comedic sequence where Banner interacts with a computer geek while trying to retrieve data from Culver University. Vanko would die during a fight with Stark in Monaco, and Bullsky would become the Titanium Man to avenge him. Further revisions made Vanko into the main villain and reduced Hammer to a supporting role.

>Early cuts featured mutual sexual tension between Stark and Black Widow, which was scrapped as test-audiences felt it undermined his relationship with Pepper.

>Early cuts featured an ending where Vanko forces Stark to surrender to him by kidnapping Pepper and is killed by War Machine with the ex-wife missile, which was scrapped as test-audiences felt it lacked action and stakes.

>Early drafts featured Stark joining forces with Dr. Chen Wu, a scientist whose family was kidnapped by the 10 Rings, to stop the Mandarin, but the concept was scrapped.

>Jenkins's version was an "intergalactic ROMEO & JULIET" centered on Thor and Jane Foster's estrangement and Odin'd disapproval of their relationship, and would've featured Hela as the main villain.

>Taylor clashed with the studio as he wanted a darker and edgier movie than they were comfortable with. The script was revised multiple times during filming, leading to numerous subplots being scrapped.

>Keanu Reeves was originally cast as Yon-Rogg, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Jude Law.

>Early drafts featured Helen Cobb, a veteran pilot and Carol’s mentor at the Air Force.

>Early drafts featured the Sentries, giant robots controlled by Ronan that Carol would have fought to protect Earth.

>Minn-Erva originally had a bigger role, exploring her rivalry with Carol and her resentment at being spurned as Yon-Rogg's favorite because of her.

>Mar-Vell was originally a man who masquerades as Dr. Walter Lawson and recruit Carol to test the Tesseract-powered lightspeed engine. Believing both Mar-Vell and Helen Cobb felt superfluous to the narrative, the writers decided to merge them into one.

>Early cuts feature an extended confrontation between Carol and the Supreme Intelligence at Mar-Vell’s ship.

>A deleted scene features Yon-Rogg meeting the Supreme Intelligence and seeing it as the thing he admires the most: Himself.

>An alternative post-credits scene features Yon-Rogg getting stranded in Sakaar.

(He would later play Killmonger)

Based What Could Have Been poster

Imagine being the fuckin' guy who picked "not paying RDJ his money" as the hill to die on.

Phoenix was actually Feige's first choice for Doctor Strange and was actually down to play the role, but talks fell apart because he only wanted to do the one movie while Marvel were insistent that he sign a multi-film deal.

>He might be more closely associated with another Marvel antihero in The Punisher, but at one point in time, Dolph Lundgren came dangerously close to playing Venom. Back in 1997, New Line Cinema had the rights to both Venom and Carnage and was planning to put the villainous characters together in a new movie. With the rights to Spider-Man residing elsewhere, however, they would have to do it without the world’s most famous web-slinger. David S. Goyer (who went on to pen the scripts for Blade, Batman Begins and Man of Steel) was hired to produce a draft script for a Venom movie. The script did away with any ties to Spider-Man, explaining that Venom’s spider insignia was down to the fact they had just come from a planet inhabited by giant spiders. It also saw Venom pitted as an anti-hero of sorts, going up against Carnage. Though details of the defunct project are scarce, media reports at the time suggested Dolph Lundgren was in the frame to play Eddie Brock, the unfortunate journalist who ends up bonding with the alien symbiote Venom.

I would be willing to give up Killmonger for this, frankly.

this is a spoiler for any stupid anons still on Yea Forums

It's because he was also Human Torch at one point, isn't it?

>>Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle's wrote a story treatment with a darker tone, which was revised and made into a proper script by Waititi and writer Eric Pearson.
God damn fuckers.

>>Early drafts featured the dark god Perrikus as the main villain rather than Hela.
That would have been interesting.
His armor done with as good quality CGI as the Destroyer got would have been magnificent.

>>In early cuts, Thor and Loki would find Odin living as a deranged hobo in the streets of New York after his retirement home was demolished and he'd die in a seedy alleyway, whereupon Hela would arrive to confront Thor and Loki. Test-audiences responded negatively to Odin's death and the scene was scrapped in favor of Odin sharing a tender moment with his sons and meeting a dignified end in the fjords of Norway.
For once the test audiences did something fucking right.
Gave us the singular scene in Ragnarok with any emotional weight.
Gunn could have done Ragnarok so much better.

Holy shit.

Jesus christ lmao

>>Early drafts went through multiple iterations of Thor’s quest, such as seeking advice from the spirit of his grandfather Bor in the netherworld.
That would have been fucking nuce.
Bor was perfectly cast & designed in Dark World and will be forever wasted.

Mother fuckers.
She is superior to Larson in every way except boobs.

She's also a leftist activist but she isn't man hateful or condescending and she at least has a valid motive.

More a feminist activist then a general leftist one, my bad.

>Raped 2-3 times in her life
You mean she had sex 2-3 times that she regretted and cried rape

There is no such thing as a valid motive for feminism. Fuck off back to tumblr you trash.

No, these happened before doing that crap was a thing.
And I don't think she has gone public with her attackers identities.

Dude I fucking hate modern feminism also but we aren't talking about women getting upset or petty because they didn't orgasm or we are talking about guys beating women's faces in, holding them down and dicking them type shit.

god all those waifus and the studio chooses her

Apparently Ken Watanabe was the first pick for the ancient one by Scott Derrickson. However the Ancient one was nationally Tibetan and when shareholders found this out they feared this would jeopardize there total box office because at this point Marvel made 30%+ of there total box office in China.

And China is horribly racist and oppressive to the Tibetan people. So Shareholders vetoed making the character an Asian ethnicity and Derrickson thought to use Morgan Freeman but realized he would be shredded by SJW's and went with a white female in hopes of mitigating claims of "The Great White Savior"

He was in a pretty bad Lose/Lose situation and still did decently.

Fuck me that's terrible to hear.
I'm a long time Doctor Strange fan and the magic being science stuff ruined Thor for me.

I had heard though It was in part due to backlash from the American mid west. Overly religious people believing that Doctor strange is teaching kids to worship the devil or some shit just like how Harry Potter got attacked.

Did reddit tell you that?

>harry potter
Looking back on it, they were right

There were a few blog posts here and there from loony Evangelicals about how the movie supposedly promoted evil Eastern spirituality and whatever, but there wasn't a whole lot of outcry over it.

The comics caused a bit of outrage with the same types because of the magic element, but that was back in the '60s and '70s when he was still quite new and novel.

>Iron Man was some crazy casual ad libbed production
Wow, no wonder they just kept throwing money at RDJ, man basically made the MCU. I wonder how much creative control he ended up getting, I know he put pressure on Disney for his coworkers lower salaries and got lots of his ideas in the films.

>Early drafts featured Sharon Carter as Captain America's partner, but revisions replaced her for Black Widow.
To think if they had allowed this character to develop Endgame's ending would have been different.>>Early drafts featured Richard Rider joining the Nova Corps and developing a feud turned friendship with Star-Lord, but Gunn scrapped the concept in order to streamline the narrative.
Awwww

In one hand I would have rather gotten a proper Cap movie instead of Civil War but on th eother hand fuck Ike Perlmutter and fuck his creative committee and i'm glad it happened.

>>Originally Star-Lord wouldn't pull the trigger on Gamora, but Chris Pratt insisted that he should.

I actually really liked that he pulled the trigger.

Everyone did. Pratt knows his character well.

Yeah. That whole thing was pretty fucked up and they turned it around.

Meh. I just take it as magic as the universe's source code from anothef dimension. I don't see it as too science-y still.

>Ike Perlmutter

I think I heard they were gonna begin with Doctor Strange as the MCU’s first movie, is that true?

It was not too science-y but they took out a lot of the Occult elements to the character and from the source material so people would draw a similar opinion or find it more believable.

What got me personally was they took out his incantations. That was always a big part of the comics, his very alliterative incantations.
Hope they add those in for the second movie.

I remember in the first Ragnorok trailer, the hammer was destroyed in an alley. That explains it

>>Timothy Olyphant auditioned for Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast.
Raylan Givens as Iron Man? Well that's something.
>Liam Hemsworth auditoned for Thor before Chris Hemsworth was cast.
What, did he tell his brother about the part or something?
>Diora Baird auditoned for Lady Sif before Jamie Alexander was cast.
On the one hand, tits. On the other, I do like Jaimie.
>Alexander Townsend was originally cast as Fandral, but was fired due to his erractic behavior. Zachary Levi was approached to replace him before Josh Dallas was cast.
And then Zach became Fandral anyhow.
>In early drafts, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent masquerading as a SSR officer who accidentally tips off Rogers that something is wrong after he's thawed out is revealed to be Sharon Carter.
Amanda Righetti as Sharon Carter? I want that timeline.
>Morena Baccarin and Mary Elizabeth Winstead auditioned for Maria Hill before Cobie Smulders was cast.
Morena's not white, but otherwise any of three work I suppose.
>Jessica Chastain was originally cast as Maya Hansen, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Gemma Arterton, Isla Fisher and Diane Kruger auditioned before Rebecca Hall was cast.
We could have had a hotter Maya.
>Alec Baldwin was approached for Alexander Pierce before Robert Redford was cast.
Redford was definitely the better choice.

>Louis Leterrier volunteered, but was turned down.

Damn Louis have some self respect

>Early cuts featured ELO's "Living Thing" and Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky".
So, uh, why were they cut and why is this that notable?
>Early cuts featured Stan Lee as one of the items in the Collector's inventory, but it was cut for being too meta.
And that Watcher one wasn't?
>Sullivan Stapleton, Michael Rosenbaum, and Glenn Howerton auditioned for Star-Lord before Chris Pratt was cast.
Sullivan? I like the guy, but HELL NO for Star Lord. Maybe as Drax. Lex "Star Lord" Luthor? That would have been funny. Star-Lord: "You know, the implication..."
>Gina Carano, Rachel Nichols, and Adrianne Palicki auditioned for Gamora before Zoe Saldana was cast.
Gina might have been better, Rachel (I think) would be used to green paint/skin, and Adrienne? That would have fucked with Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D..
>Gal Gadot auditioned for Nebula before Karen Gillian was cast.
If this got us a better Wonder Woman, then I like Karen, but it would have been worth it.
>In early drafts, Ultron was modeled after Tony Stark's brain patterns, but the concept was scrapped.
That would have made more sense, like the original idea for The Matrix. I'm still a little confused as to why Ultron turned evil immediately.
>Wright's draft featured Scott Lang as a petty crook who's been arrested several times; Hank Pym as a mad scientist driven by ego; a love triangle between Scott, his ex-wife Maggie and his childhood friend Paxton; Darren Cross becoming the Nano Warrior; and minor roles for Hope Van Dyne and Scott's crew, which was comprised by eight criminals.
...This guy got lucky with the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.
>Early drafts featured Alexander Pierce as one of the SHIELD agents present when Pym leaves the organization in the 1980's
Neat.

>>In early drafts, Malekith had a more sympathetic backstory, wanting revenge for the death of his family at the hands of Thor's grandfather, Bors, but the concept was scrapped.

This would have made the movie so much better

Some things are luck, and some are just the result of having chosen the right people and making the right decisions. Favreau was the right guy to direct, and he picked the right actor to play Stark, and that led to the film not only being workable, but turning out to be something they could build off of.

>Early drafts featured an alternative third act where monsters from the Quantum Realm escape into the world and begin wreaking havoc.
This would've undermined the Decimation. Good thing they kept it low-key (or as low-key as Marvel movies can be these days).

The fact that Dark World is even slightly enjoyable as a film with all that happened with it during production is something of a miracle.

>Jim Carrey Rocket

I did not know I wanted this

poor guy, but I think he probably had malicious intentions, maybe he wanted to sabotage it because he was pissed at how Hulk went

>>Marvel Studios offered to allow Fox to retain the rights to Daredevil in exchange for using Silver Surfer and Galactus in the movie, but Fox declined.

It was just a matter of time

Or he was just super into the idea of working with the characters and wanted a mulligan after Norton kinda botched his shot.

>Tony Todd was approached to voice Dormammu, but was ultimately replaced by Cumberbatch himself.
What the fuck was his problem?

>Spider-Man was absent in some drafts, with Falcon being the one who accompanies Iron Man and Doctor Strange to Titan.
Lmao imagining Falcon clutching Tony begging not to dissappear

>In early drafts, Tony Revolori's character was named "Manuel". Further revisions made him into Flash Thompson.
Manuel would have been better.
>In early drafts, Toomes would've been one of Peter's teachers and not Liz's father.
Then, uh, why would he need to steal stuff if he was a teacher?
>Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle's wrote a story treatment with a darker tone, which was revised and made into a proper script by Waititi and writer Eric Pearson.
"Darker", all I need to hear to know it would have been better than what we got.
>Jaimie Alexander was slated to return as Sif in a "pivotal" role, but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with her TV series BLINDSPOT.
Lucky for her.
>Early cuts featured an extended sequence of T’Challa and Nakia discussing their past relationship while jogging through Wakanda, passing by several of its landmarks before arriving at Nakia’s house, where her parents voice their support for T’Challa, which was cut for pacing.
Dang, that would have been nice.
>Early drafts featured the Hulk bursting out of the Hulkbuster and joining the battle. This was scrapped to give Banner a victory entirely his own. It happened so late into production that toys and artworks of the scene had already been produced.
So how fucking early in production do they make toys then?
>Although Brie Larson was always the studio’s choice for Carol Danvers, Kathryn Winnick and Blake Lively, among others, were also considered.
Those two? Definitely better.
>Mar-Vell was originally a man who masquerades as Dr. Walter Lawson and recruit Carol to test the Tesseract-powered lightspeed engine.
Again, this idea better.

Why on Earth would you need three movies to build up to ANYTHING on an individual character level.

>Steve Buscemi was approached for Hank Pym
I dont even,,,

>>In early cuts, Iron Man would be revived by Thor's lightning after falling from the wormhole
Neat that they brought this back in Endgame

>for changing Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers in DEADPOOL.
WHAT??
Did they basically troll Fox on this one? Because I'm 100 % sure they don't give a single fuck after a character who appeared in 2 panels in an X-Men story. Fox changed the powers of several more important characters.

At least Ike got to see his long hard dream of live action Inhumans

fuck off Ike

>>Director James Gunn added Ego as Star-Lord's father before learning that the characters rights belonged to 20th Century Fox. The studio eventually traded Ego to Marvel Studios in exchange for changing Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers in DEADPOOL.

kek at Fox

Got any screencaps or archive links or anything?

>>Early cuts featured an extended sequence of Aunt May rescuing a young girl in peril while secretly being observed by Peter.

For what purpose?

The movie would've been so much lamer if Quill and Wanda had pussed out, it greatly serviced the film's themes that neither one did. Imagining a situation where Wanda can do it but Quill can't is weird.

>>Early drafts detailed Thanos’ childhood in Titan and the recruitment of the First Order, but these were ultimately deemed superfluous.

Would have liked that...

Yeah, really wanted to see that fucked up family desu

>>A deleted scene features Yon-Rogg meeting the Supreme Intelligence and seeing it as the thing he admires the most: Himself.

Toys are usually made from concept art or drafts before the movie is in full production

You're conflating "liking someone" and "agreeing with someone". There's people I agree with I don't like, and people that disagree with me that I like.

Digging up a 1997 interview in 2017 in order to antagonize someone and propel yourself up just doesn't strike me as "likeable", my dude.

[spoilers] And then it fucking comes back in Endgame

You want RDJ to fucking relapse to alcoholism right? We dont need Next to Zero Iron Man Edition.

Besides we would need Whitney Frost as well as supporting antagonist because of her role as being the reason why Tony started drinking heavily instead of focusing on his relationship on Pepper

pestilen/tv/ermin are Yea Forums's greatest scourge. No matter the cost, they must be purged.
Report each and every single live action thread on sight.
If they aren't deleted, or if you get wrongfully banned, politely appeal to the mods by using the feedback function and speak to them directly on IRC explaining why the threads should be removed (they lead to gratuitous amounts of off topic shitposting, political bullcrap, psychotically belligerent brand fanaticism & false flagging for the sake of trolling, etc.). Furthermore, you can try to convince them that by consolidating discussion of all live action movies and TV shows to Yea Forums, their jobs will be made much easier since their attention to shitposting in those threads will be more focused if they're on one board instead of two.

I feel like anybody who's seen this film has an entirely different view of Adam Sandler. Its so. fucking. good.

Yes.

In 1997.

>they were right?
how? I didn't watched the films after the third film btw

>In 1997

What does that have to do with anything?

I was just thinking the same thing as I was reading and I unironically enjoyed Dark World more than most.

>>An alternative post-credits scene features Yon-Rogg getting stranded in Sakaar.
Would have preferred that one over the cat.

>and declined to return for IRON MAN 3.

>In early drafts, Ultron was modeled after Tony Stark's brain patterns, but the concept was scrapped
So retarded they scrapped this but still gave Ultron snippets of his personality and speech patterns, and even made other characters comment on it without fucking showing or telling us why in the final movie. It would also make everyone blaming Tony for Ultron's fucked up logic and obsession with *protecting humanity from itself' more reasonable, and Tony more at fault in general.

...damn, this would've been sweet actually.

Perlmutter is an incredible faggot

And then didn't wanna pay for it.

It was not exactly meant to be part of MCU as Edgar Wright had planned to always keep it standalone. Marvel execs just wanted it to have nod to the MCU so that it could be integrated into the MCu.

This also meant Edgar Wright couldnt include anything in the movie that would put it in blatant odds against MCU. Wright left when he felt this level of meddling unaccepteable

>You want RDJ to fucking relapse to alcoholism right?

The Stan Lee cameo wasnt cut for being too meta. It was cut because it had a gag with him giving a middle finger and Disney didnt want that action associated with Stan

What I wanna know is what would've happened in that timeline. We obviously wouldn't get Netflix Daredevil so Netflix would be like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Punisher. Meanwhile Fox would do that 70's-era Daredevil movie that Carnahan was trying to put together.

But GOTG would put Silver Surfer and Galactus in and could probably have brought them in sooner, maybe even for Infinity War/Endgame.

Not really because Batman was being trained by assassins.

You couldn't be more fucking wrong.

James Gunn Reveals Alternate Stan Lee Cameos from ‘Doctor Strange’

But now Gunn has revealed that the Stan Lee cameo we saw in Doctor Strange was just one of many different takes they shot. In the movie we see now, as Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) are fighting, they smash into a bus where Lee is reading The Doors of Perception. But per Gunn, they shot at least three alternate takes:

– Stan reading a book and leaning into the guy next to him, saying, “Do you know what excelsior means?”
– Stan throwing his head back and laughing as hard as he can, yelling, “I’m laughing for no reason! I’m totally crazy!”
– And, my favorite, Stan laughing hysterically at a Garfield book, hooting, “He HATES Mondays but he LOVES lasagna!” Supposedly that one was in the film for a while, but it ended up being too long for the scene.

Honestly the MCU up until now didn't lack anything for not having Silver Surfer and Galactus, I feel it might be better to give them their own focus rather than having them share it with Thanos etc. The only thing that could've been better is starting hype for them earlier, so they're not seemingly too sudden.

batman begins was 2005, it was pre-chinese movie explosion

china has been building like 48 theaters a week on average for the last few years

>Timothée Chalamet could’ve been Peter Parker
>he could’ve made an awesome Peter and shown more range in Timothée‘s acting skills
>Gotten an Oscar nomination for getting boned by Arnie Hammer up the butt multiple times in rural Northern Italy instead

>>In early drafts, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent masquerading as a SSR officer who accidentally tips off Rogers that something is wrong after he's thawed out is revealed to be Sharon Carter.
IIRC she says "Code 13" when Steve escaped, she was also a cutie so I wouldn't have minded her being Sharon.

>>Mark Ruffalo was director Louis Leterrier's original choice for Bruce Banner, but the studio favored Edward Norton.
I didn’t know Ruffalo was the original choice, that’s funny as fuck

>>David Bowie was slated for a cameo as one of the Ravager commanders before his death in 2016.

Well I didn't assume they approached him AFTER he died.

He deserved more than such a tiny cameo. He should have played another of the Elders of the Universe. Imagine the Grandmaster he could have played.

>Nicole Perlman wrote the first - and very different - draft of the script: Star-Lord was an U.S. pilot who is accidentally jettsioned to another galaxy in a military experiment gone wrong and joins forces with a group of intergalactic outlaws to stop the Badoon from conquering the galaxy.
>Early drafts featured Bug as a member of the team; appearances by Adam Warlock and ROM; and included the Badoon as Ronan's army and the Spartoi as the Krees' lifelong enemies.

It's fucking obvious that Bendis was leaking draft ideas, and why he was so obsessed with wanting ROM to be in the GotG even though Marvel didn't have him.

Also I want to read Nicole Perlman's draft, I am very curious about it.

>Gal Gadot auditioned for Nebula before Karen Gillian was cast.
Thank god

>Mickey Rourke created an elaborate backstory for Vanko to make him a more sympathetic character, but most of these scenes were cut to streamline the narrative. Rourke was displease and disowned the movie, swearing never to work with Marvel again.

Well that sucks.

Attached: Burd saves whiplash.png (550x1040, 44K)

Del Toro would have been perfect for a Thor movie focused on Asguard and the various related realms. Something which could easily have served as a solid "origin" movie for Thor.

I'm honestly pissed Mickey Rouke got fucked over. Even in the final script, a lot of his sympathy shines through.

If only Marvel - then and now - had the balls to go deep diving. The closest thing i can think of is Logan.

>Captain Marvel was present in some drafts, meeting with the group on Titan while following Thanos’ trail of destruction.

...See now, that... would have been a little bit better.

>Brie Larson was always the studio’s choice for Carol Danvers

WHY???

>Asa Butterfield,
>Timothée Chalamet
Both better choices than liplet spider-manlet
Im still salty they offed peitro

>>Early drafts revealed that Strange went through the loop thousands of times before Dormammu decided to accept his bargain, and that he remembers each and every time he died.
Wait, he doesnt remember?? I thought he did and that’s how he got gud so quick

does anyone have the spoilers gif

>WHY???
She sucked and fucked too many studio execs for them to even consider anyone else

Holland improvised that

adding Blake who have just made it a bog standard Super Hero Origin Story plot where a normal dude gets powers and learns to be a hero. Giving Thor a secret identity just makes him yet another generic super hero which is boring as fuck and probably why they ditched it decades ago, the Eric Masterson shit in the 80s notwithstanding.

Didn't Iron Man 3's post credit scene originally feature Tony going into space and encountering the Guardians of the Galaxy, with the idea being he was going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy? It sounds incredibly stupid but would have been a better arc with him confronting his fears, seeking the Chitauri/Thanos directly.

A woman had to direct the woman main character movie just like a black american director had to direct Black Panther.

> was an U.S. pilot who is accidentally jettsioned to another galaxy in a [scientific] experiment gone wrong and joins forces with a group of intergalactic outlaws to [survive and get back home]
>Mother died of cancer
>Has a special cassette tape
>Makes Earth-based pop culture references his alien friends don't understand
>Is chased by a policing organization with pointy ships
>Has a very funny muscly alien friend
>Blue women

His girlfriend isn't green, but John Crichton basically is Starlord.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought of this.

Although, isn't this trope old as fuck? Weren't John Carter and Flash Gordon essentially doing the same shit decades earlier?

>Hiddleston auditioned for Thor
the fuck was he thinking lol

>>Early cuts featured a minor scene of Drax loudly slurping soup to his teammates' annoyance which was cut for time.
good. I wish they cut more stupid offbeat jokes like this in the movies

Asa lost the role by shitposting on reddit and sperged about it.

Endgame should have:

Time traveled to Strange & Tony on the ship to Titan. Bring strange back to present. Use time stone on thanos' gaunlet to bring the stones back. Return strange. Do the snap bring everyone back. Adam Warlock shows up and he's the new big bad. Have a good movie. Gamora able to come back via soul world. Able to have a decent guardians 3 without a time displaced gamora.

Ah, that makes more sense.

>the golden god could have been in the MCU
He’d make a pretty good Star Fox though

Attached: C87FA658-28C9-402D-A68E-D6342D263993.gif (167x170, 1.32M)

I think this is another case like the Nebula and soul stone one where no one else saw what Thanos did to the mind stone to think about it.

>in exchange for keeping the visions and Hawkeye's farmhouse, which were both nearly cut.
Every time I hear behind the scenes info on AOU it makes me angry that no one had any clue on how to make a good follow up movie.

>early cuts, Thor and Valkyrie would remininsce about their first encounter in a "1980's Asgard" with Asgardians wearing "shoulder pads and Farrah Fawcetts". Young Thor would've been an acne-ridden chubby outcast, while Loki would've been an emo goth listening to "Asgardian death metal".

would've been funny as fuck

There's still a chance with how Endgame when down. And a cheeky rivalry between those two would be fucking amazing.
Turns out, in the five years since Quill vanished, there've been some new additions to the Nova Corps to bolster their depleted ranks. Meet Dick Rider, the new Nova Centurion, who is out chasing the sole surviving daughter of Thanos to bring her to justice. He's cocky, incredibly powerful, seeped in Terran Culture, and overall someone specifically designed to drive Quill up the wall as they both hunt down Gamora.

>Nathan Fillion as Wonder Man
Holy fucking yes please

>WHY???
Feige poaches talent from films he enjoys. He loved "Creed," for instance, so he worked very hard on getting Ryan Coogler for Black Panther. Probably has a lot to do with getting Tessa Thompson for Thor as well.
So he saw "Room," loved "Room," chased Brie Larson and insisted on her since she was so good in "Room."

Mads not being Strange makes me mads

Worth mentioning the original post-credits scene days that facing Earth I'd "courting Death". Obvious reference to the original motivation of Thanos.

Holy shit that would be amazing. Both “competing” for the girl.

I'm gonna be honest, I never liked Donald Blake. It made Thor way less cool and made him like everyone else. 2000s Thor was best Thor

At least in this timeline, Strucker and Zemo did slightly more than they were planned to do. Strucker was in like 10 minutes of MCU but Zemo had the second biggest effect on the Avengers and is supposed to be much more prominent in the future with the "Thunderbolts" film

pestilen/tv/ermin are Yea Forums's greatest scourge.

I'm glad Odin got a dignified death but that scene was so obviously a green screen mess that I'm still down on it.

>It's fucking obvious that Bendis was leaking draft ideas, and why he was so obsessed with wanting ROM to be in the GotG even though Marvel didn't have him.

I'm almost convinced that the whole story Bendis had about why he killed War Machine wasn't through watching the trailer but possibly from info he got from friends who might still be connected with Marvel Studios. This might also be why there's always reports of multiple endings and scenes being done, to throw Marvel Entertainment off track with their comics.

It makes sense when you consider most of the vocal complainers against casting shit are white women. Make your problematic casting one of them and they're much less likely to raise hell because it's against their self interest.

Honestly this was supposed to be Captain America Serpent Society before they swapped it to Civil War at the last minute

Yes we know. Ben Browder was in Gotg vol 2 after all.

Bad, since everyone will know that Peter Parker is a high school student. In the days of comics Civil War, that may not have been a big deal considering Peter was older, but in the age of social media, Parker would be eaten alive.

marvel, stop the force-meme that is inhumans
who fucking cares

gunn has/had plans for the ravager commanders in vol 3

bendis tried to get ahead of gunn for vol2 by forcing j'sonn down everybody's throats in every book he was touching and failed miserably when he got BTFO by gunn using ego. he tried it again for civil war 2 as said with rhodey's death

but by that time the committee got FEIGE'D and he had no real intel

that was ike, iron man 2 was already deep in POST-production when disney bought marvel. ike truly was the cancer that kevin removed

JMS' Blake was good.

No, it wasn't.

Serpent Society was just a gag.

Proof?

They announced Civil War literally five seconds afterwards.

Craziest list of what could have gone wrong.

>Morgan Freeman
Missed out on the magical negro.

>Keanu Reeves
I knew he was in the running!

Chris is based.
Just like Han Solo, Starlord is going to pull that trigger.

>that would be amazing
Yes it would.

>the studio’s choice for Carol Danvers, Yvonne Strahovski, Kathryn Winnick, Blake Lively and Evan Rachel Wood, among others, were also considered.
to think we could've had a likeable Captain Marvel

VanCamp would've been a better Captain Marvel.

Wait...
Was Bug on the GOTG prior to Bendis' Avengers Assemble comic in 2012?

I think it was Whedon who wanted Renner

yeah. I think the real reason Bug wasn't in the movies is rights issues. i think he's a microverse character

Yeah, MCU showed they didn't really need to use them, but assuming they got the rights to use them that early, it probably would've changed a lot of plans.

Micronauts, though he was introduced in the Marvel Micronauts comic. For a while Marvel could use the character since he wasn't a toy character.

Renner was already on Marvel's radar on The Hurt Locker.

Ackles was the top choice, but he had to choose between that and Supernatural, and he preferred to stay in his comfort zone.

FUCK you, then.

>Both Ghost and Sonny Burch were more villainous in earlier drafts.

If it was for Norton, this movie could have been shit.

>They fucking wasted Mickey Rourke

Damn Mads Mikkelen was doomed to play wasted villains.

I can hear it in his voice.

RIP Stan Lee. ;-;

>Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto were approached to play Doctor Strange

>in an alternate universe, Cumberbatch is the Joker in a mildly more successful Suicide Squad

>Gary Oldman as Ego

>Hope they add those in for the second movie.
I could see them doing so, at least to a degree, seeing as how the movie version of Strange's character development going as fast as it did actually made sense given all of the context.
If the next movie has him doing all the shit he was doing in infinity war and some of endgame, I could see myself going to see it.

More pls

Or is the Joker in an independent Joker movie.

Not him, but while the world wasn't "super homophobic" back then, media sure as fuck didn't give a damn back in 97 like they do now.
Which also, never mind the fact it's ACTING, but it's way easier for a women to kiss a women (and be straight in real life) than it is for a man to kiss a man (and be straight). Not some opinion, just how it works mentally. (it could be just as hard for a gay guy to kiss a lady)
Ben Affleck's antics over the years aside, he was more than likely referring to the act of kissing another man "hard" in terms of being able to pull it off without it looking fake (or borderline vomiting) But like with all forms of acting, some people can do it much better than others.

It was Norton's idea to have the boyfriend character (Samson, played by Ty Burrell) not be an asshole. I think that was a good call.

>Edgar Wright was originally attached to direct the movie, but dropped out due to creative differences
i will never not be mad

>Originally Star-Lord wouldn't pull the trigger on Gamora, but Chris Pratt insisted that he should.

In my perfect world, he would have hesitated for much less time before pulling the trigger. But I understand that most people wouldn't have liked that.

>The four drop targets on the left-side represent the letters I-R-O-N and the three drop targets on the right side represent M-A-N. David Thiel explains that the reason those letters do not appear on these targets is because it is a requirement of the license that the two words "IRON MAN" must never be shown separated from each other.

For those who don't know, there's a comic called The Ultimates where the Avengers do fight the Hulk for their first mission. And it's a great comic. The MCU drew inspiration from it in a couple of ways (most notably black Nick Fury).

Josh Brolin being Thanos/Cable aside, could it be possible that with the inclusion of Xmen inevitably being a part of the post-Endgame continuity and how Deadpool's movies will (ironically) be the most unchanged despite them recasting all the Xmen again (fantastic four as well) that the possibility of (lady)Death being a future plot point could possibly reintroduce Thanos as well? (though probably on par with how Red Skull came back)
Then again, while she wasn't Death, the strong parallel they gave Wade's girl to reference comic's Wade's love for Death in Deadpool 2 might have removed the possibility all together.

>Producers initially feared that Giant-Man wouldn't be taken seriously by the audienced and demanded him to be removed from the script.
But people in colorful costumes fighting at an airport would?

>The script did away with any ties to Spider-Man, explaining that Venom’s spider insignia was down to the fact they had just come from a planet inhabited by giant spiders

Dunno if I like this or the vaguely spider-shaped veins that the final movie used more.

>>Early cuts featured an extended sequence of Okoye and W’Kabi debating their opposing ideologies after Killmonger’s ascension, which was cut for pacing.
This was a real shame. It would've added an extra little bite to Okoye.

Mandarin being absolutely anything but a drunk actor would have been a better decision.

Just anything at all

I would much rather have Titanium Man than iron Whiplash, that sucked.

most of these have been posted around for years

Morgan freeman= SJW's will bitch about magical negro trope, while a lot of them tend to accept a Great White Savior as long as it's a white woman instead of a dude, since most of them *are* white women with delusions of grandeur

This sounds like it would have been the blandest generic space movie with Adam Sandler. It would have been fucking awful.

Holy shit Zachary Levi was Fandral?

>The Russos considered reserving the snap for AVENGERS: ENDGAME, but ultimately decided ending with it would be more impactful.

Hey Peter Jackson, see this? That's why you kill Smaug at the END of the 2nd movie, you fuck.

And Buck Rogers, and almost every other major space her movie. All too often it's some astronaut or air force hero that is accidentally dropped off in space to go fight evil lizard men.

And it looks like that is 100% what the original draft was going to be.

He was likely thinking
>I'm the billionaire producer and you two are eftover 80s teen has-beens. so we're doing what I say

Only for like 5 onscreen seconds before Hela sent him to Valhalla.

>There are alternative endings where different characters die, such as Banner, while others survive, such as Scarlet Witch.
I want to see those.

>IRON MAN 3 was the last movie in Robert Downey Jr.'s original four-picture contract, and was written as a definitive end for the character should Downey Jr. not renegotiate to play the character in further installments.
I knew it, Iron Man 3 felt like they were trying to cap off Tony's character.
It felt like such a closed book scenario.

I've heard this rumor before too

GOD BLESS JAMES GUNN

We could have had both Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley in the MCU, that would have been confusing.

Having to accomodate to China's tastes is literally killing some cool casting and idea choices in movies these days.

Sounds like you need to spend more time outside of your incel cave

Can someone make a DCEU version? I like these what if threads

He was Gunns number 1 choice until his secretary introduced him to Pratt

The Guardians movies are the few situations in the MCU where we unquestionably got the best case scenario

>Age of Ultron was almost good
>it almost spared us Captain Marvel
Wow fuck Joss Whedon

Blessed would have been a dead-on Volstagg, really.

Right?

It's show up somewhere in the Eternals.

Couldn't that all just be fit into one post?

>Quill meets basically his exact double

Nebula: "You don't wear a stupid helmet that makes you look like a penis."
Carol: "....Great."
>Dick goes "Huh?" while Rocket snickers

But... but...
"That painting is amazing. Did you do that?"
"..I did. Glad you liked it."
"So would you paint our den?"

Oh, wait, we can't do that. They already had Aleta separate from him.

Jude Law would have been a better Captain Marvel.
Even as Carol.

Will we ever see a live-action Rom?

...I just assumed his character was Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash combined.

I mean, Darren Cross was a hybrid of four characters because Hank Pym doesn't really have a rogue's gallery.

Huh, good point.
