Boys need to be MEN, meaning they can take a few beatings from their fathers and still live, which in turn can be played for laughs in a show like The Simpsons. But girls are inherently weaker than boys, so violence against them, especially if they're young and the person hurting them is their fathers, would naturally come off as more morbid and realistic to a lot of people. Even though violence against either groups should be seen as equally bad, boys get the short end because they're expected to work through the emotional and physical abuse that would ravage a girl and become big strong men at the end.
And why are they expected to do that in the first place? Because of the prevalence of toxic masculinity.
