The second game ignore A LOT of the tie-in comic. Taylor, for example, tried to make Harley and Ivy a couple in the tie-in comic, but in the game Ivy was ready to wreck Harley a new one.

I personally don't hate her, I just lost interest, because somewhere along the way she shed the things that made her interesting. Some of that being her vulnerability and underdog nature. I'll always have a soft spot for her entry into the comics with Ivy finding her, taking pity on her, and fixing her up.

What could possibly make Catwoman join the Regime tho? I honestly don't remember that, and I did watch the IJ2 'movie' on Youtube. The Regime didn't even exist outside Black Adam and Wonder Woman at the start if i remember right.

Catwoman in the first game and tie-in comic sold Batman to the Regime thinking that by doing this the war would stop and Superman would be lenient enough to spare Batman's life. So Batman got pissy about that.

In the game Batman's still pissy about this, which is why Catwoman had to act as a mole for him in Grodd's group.
In the tie-in comic Batman and Catwoman patched up and were a couple, but she still acted as a mole for him in Grodd's group anyway.
Likewise, in the game Harley is living with Batman and is ready to go against Ivy and some hallucination for the Joker for Batman's sake. Ivy as well is ready to face Harley for the sake of her and Grodd's plans.
In the tie-in comic Harley's just one of the Batman's gang and eventually she hook up with Ivy. No hard feelings between them at all.''

The second game? They took it from the tie-in comics where after the original Green Arrow died, the Green Arrow from the good universe took Black Canary from the main universe together with him. So in the second game they come back to assist Batman, who's became a reclusive trying to rebuild the world alone.

I was half way through spoiling it for you; instead I highly, highly reccomend you read the Injustice comics, and watch the cutscene movies. Both actually have quite a lot of screen/page time in both comic series and the second game. Hell, the first hour or two of the second game might as well be a lighthearted Green Arrow game. It's just him and Canary on a mission where they are hilariously outgunned.

I don't think the 'good' universe is Post-Crisis or any classic setting we know. At least I never got that feeling. I just always assumed it was an alternate timeline/mirror of the same setting where they managed to avert the crisis.

If you want to play up the "Batman/Joker being two sides of the same coin" thing it makes sense to pair Harley with Bruce. I think it would be interesting to see Harley hook up with Bruce and seeing that he's just as bad for her as Joker was.

Green Arrow is from a different timeline and Joker was shoehorned in from a single hallucination scene. Not saying they can't handwave him back, but it's unlikely since Black Adam is alive, about to be played by Dwayne in live-action, and has basically the same powerset. He isn't needed. Hell, why not (re)introduce Mary. It would be nice to have another short skirt in the roster.
