Would buying one of these raw for $300-$400 be a good deal, or is that way overpriced? If that’s a good price, then where can I find it for that cheap?
I honestly love the cover design. I ain’t looking to resell it or anything.

What the fuck could possibly possess you to spend that much money on a drawing??
Who the fuck buys variant covers and JSC is a terrible artist for anything outside of cheesecake. You're part of the problem OP
400 dollars is over priced and Im not even sure what you're really asking. Are you asking to get a print or the actual cover art? Artists sometimes sell the later but I can't say how they go and it really depends if they want to sell them because they usually get to keep them. Though from what I've seen they range anywhere from 50 to well into the thousands.
If you're asking about a print then you're an dumbass if you pay that and I'd say just go to Kinkos and print out a nice copy and get a frame.
Not a drawing, a cheap comic, printed on shitty paper, with a different cover illustration to the $4 one
The comic, of course.
Paying more than the cover price is just stupid
>400$
>400$
>400$
Dude, For 400$ I could go out and buy a new computer, I could go to my bookshop and buy 20 graphic novels, My current savings is barely 350$, If you want it so bad just read it online
That’s not even good art
By your mother a nice present with that money instead of invest it into a gym membership
Alright. I thought that it was overpriced, myself.
What would be a reasonable price for this comic?
About tree fiddy
The cost of the internet you use monthly so you can just pirate it. Honestly the book sucks man, I get and appreciate you wanting to read it because you think the covers cool, that's how Comics thrived back in the day, but the thing is, never ever ever ever ever fall for the variant scam. Especially when it comes to artists like J Scott Campbell. He sells his stuff specifically to spectators for 400 so they can resell in a few years for 600, catch my drift?
Oh, I see! Thank you for the advice!
it doesn´t even depict anything interesting.
just the lizard standing around. no epic showdown. no cute moment, not even a high level recreation of a famous spider-man moment
Yeah, I just thought that it was badass for some reason.
that´s fine
if you think it´s cool that more power to it
but I really would advise against spending money on stuff like this user.
unless you are a millionaire
Alright, thank you!
And ironically, the non-variant for this is actually more badass lol.
>1:50 rare Campbell variant that’s in high demand
>overpriced
How new are y’all, lmao?
Yeah, book still sucks. It's been awhile but I think that was the one where Kurt turned his kids into lizards or something and was going full on insane mutant canibal in the NYC Sewers. Spidey stops him, but the way he stops him lets Kurts normal brain take over the lizard body. It's all a foreshadow to when Doc Ock switches bodies with Peter. Very skippable issues.
>throwing your money into the laundromat machine that is the speculation bubble instead of just enjoying the stories
This cheeky mad lad right here.
Real suggestion, if you want to get something cool to hang up in your living room or whatever and you're willing to spend a few hundred, just get an artist to do a comission for you. They're much more personal and ultimately become worth more than those covers.
i mean, it was specifically made for collectors, made by a beloved artist. and it’s low-print, too. do ya not understand fair market value?
No my dude it was spesifically made by that beloved artist (who I don't blame for doing this) for retards to resell to other retards. Not collectors.
Here’s what somebody on a comic subreddit told me:
Campbell variants are always expensive, and a comic that modern and specifically made for collectors isn't going to be found in a grade lower than a 9.0 I would bet (maybe even higher) so it's not something you'll find in like a 6.0 that someone's dumping for a few bucks. You can just keep an eye on eBay and hope you can win one for a steal, but looking at eBay your buddy is just objectively incorrect... a comic is worth what people are willing to pay, and every sale seems to be going for over those prices. It's a 1:50 variant, so even if 100,000 copies of 688 were printed, that means about 2000 copies of this comic exist. It's rare and it's a Campbell variant, so it's in high demand.
A buddy of mine (who I know IRL) told me that a realistic price for this comic would be $300 raw if you’re lucky, and $600 with a perfect grade if you’re feeling really lucky.
How is buying a shitty comic from this decade for over ten bucks "lucky" ?
He says that you’d be lucky to sell it for that much.
Speculator neck beards are killing the industry all over again. It's cool to collect golden/silver age but when you hit the eighties there's no excuse.
Just try to find the cover in high quality and print it or something, 400 is way too much for a comic like that.
I see.
$300 raw in vf/nm is not bad desu, if you collect expensive jcs covers this is definitely one of the grails bc it's not an exclusive virgin or some bullshit he sold directly, it's been an expensive variant for years already, the only place you'll find it for that cheap is if somehow you come across one at a convention and talk a dealer down a little bit but these are just so scarce it'd be hard to do that. Just don't play the variant game, buy first appearances m8, your money is safe there
I see. I guess the anons here don’t appreciate the rarer comics, let alone understand how valuable Campbell really can be. I hope that I can find one raw for that cheap. I just fucking hate scalpers so much.
Bump with a random figure.
I just want JSC to draw more Danger GIrl
True.
I understand fair market alright. I understand you're the kind of faggot that hasn't earned a dollar rightfully in his entire life you little shit. You think you can come on here and talk to me about fair market value? I will break your jaw with your typewriter you asshole piece of shit. Don't talk to me or my money ever again.
okay, you won the internet for this epic post! xDD
>J Scott Campbell
Nice.
>Is it worth $400?
Questions for questions.
>Can you pick it up in an LCS instead?
>Will the comic actually pay out more than $400 a few years down the line?
How new are you if you think Campbell's art is worth what he charges?
Your buddy is an idiot who probably meant commission prices
>spending 400$ on a floppy
Genuine, honest why?
fuck that. like someone posted, there's nothing unique about this (no cool action, recreation of movie/cartoon/etc scene, not even erotic). it's just the lizard standing tired. tired.
jsc prob told marvel ' i'll do a cover, but you pay me 5k for it '
marvel wanting to make money of off him said sure, and decided to make a limited run to increase the price and get it's 5k back along with some profit.
campbell is just a pinup artist. not a very good one at that.
>The Lizard
>Six toes
One job, Jeff...
It’s cool.
I see. I just don’t know why I think the art is so cool.
