his style looks like a shitty version of crumb
Absolutely amazing. Read them.
I only have read the Our Movie Year special, and it's not really my cup of tea, but I get why people enjoy his books. The story about the guy trying to save his fishes during a blackout was great, though.
def will
Self indulgent.
explain.
Pekar wasn’t an artist he was a writer and Crumb was his first collaborator
Kind of sad reflections from a weird guy who had no business being even the minor cult celebrity he was. Little stories about normal things with kind of a pessimistic bent. Every now and again there are long monologues where he just talks about stuff and he's drawn walking around a field, some of the people he worked with sucked. And because he's an autist there are certain bits he records time and time again, so if you spend enough time with his catalogue, you'll see the same story done by 4 or 5 Different artists
Did you like the movie?
It's an acquired taste.
This cannot be real.
It was perfect because it was just like one of his comics, with all the asides and whatnot.
>Pick up one of the Vertigo AS trades a few months ago
>turns out Darwyn Cooke drew one of the covers
I didn't ask for these feels
I learnt who Darwyn was today and still feel bad.
Movie is great. Comcs tend to suck
Some of them are brilliant, some of them are not. Harvey is a great guy. I skipped the movie because I didn't feel like watching some Hollywood actor pretend to be him but it's great that the movie got a lot of his stuff republished.
yo this nigga never read origin of species lmao
LOL, the movie was great, whoever made it understood storytelling and hollywood magicked Pekar into an eccentric underdog that you want good stuff to happen to.
Read the actual comics and you realize Pekar is a weird little guy, probably autistic telling boring pointless stories about his boring pointles life.
This is the trailer I haven't read the comics but I watched some interviews with Harvey and he seems to do a good job.
forgot it

>hollywood actor
Good news, the actual Harvey Pekar is in the movie almost as much as Giamatti
This,
The movie is a masterpiece and the only film I genuinely enjoyed having to watch for a class.
It's one of the few movies based on a comic that I'd say is a perfect adaptation
Pekar is just the writer. Crumb illustrated some of his comics. The movie is decent. The comics are self indulgent Boomer nonsense.
