Yes, but it's the whole abusive parent metaphor. Those who suffer abuse are often at risk to become abusers. This would be her fear, that whatever went wrong with her 'father' is wrong with her. The bat-family would try and console her, but I figure it would be a reasonable enough motivation to drive her to confront 'dad', and try to face her fears.
