ITT: Damian Wayne acting his age
Not a lot of 10 year olds think about stabbing girls. Does a lot of exercise make you hit puberty early?
I didn't do this his age so I don't know if this is appropriate
i still haven't done it at my current age :(
What the fuck is up with their lips
It's just that artist. He's always drawn faces weird. Could barely stick to Batman Beyond when he was on it just because he made Max and Terry's little brother look so weird facially.
I miss Damian and Steph hanging out
I hope they get to meet again. Robin teams up with Spoiler just doesn't move as many issues as Robin teams up with Batgirl, though.
...
Just a normal father-son thing to do: put your child in the most immediate danger...
Why is Damian black lol
I just love how steph is the most "normal" of the Batfamily(as much as the daughter of a D-list villain can be) but she meshes so well with the more out-there Batfamily members.
Pft. Damian’s in worse danger than that on a nightly basis.
Nibba libs
Merely LIVING in Gotham is an immediate danger in and of itself.
Posting purest relationship. A+, user.
Same. So much.
Steph and Damian need a teamup issue. It's really a shame Damian's been written mostly by Tomasi, who at the very least doesn't like Steph, at the most hates her.
Steph was created as a Robin to Tim Drake's Robin - she's a gateway character to a gateway character, making her meshes with other characters make a lot of sense.
Steph is strange. With her old teen pregnant arc, how much of a screwup she was, but pages like and the one with Damien staring at her chest, it really gives her a weird vibe. Like she would be that one babysitter who let you watch grown up movies with her or made generally bad decisions at best or went full /ss/ at worst. And I don't know if she is best Batgirl or worst Batgirl.
She barely feels like a superhero. More like a messed up thot in the making who fell into a costume.
No, it's just that being a comic book writer gives you autism.
>/r/ pages of Steph acting skanky or thirsty in any context
Steph being a screwup is greatly exaggerated, mostly because of War Games. For most of her arcs, she doesn't screw up any more than the other Robins. And as Batgirl she's very competent, making very good choices.
Currently, she's kind of caught between Tynion's attempt to capture her early rage at her father and the genki girl she became later as Batgirl. But sadly, she has been gone for a year, so we don't really know how that's going to play out.
That's one the least dangerous things Damian does
--tt--
Just her start as Tim's teen pregnant sort-of love interest who falls into the family solidly started her down the path. And honestly I like it. Her issues, and origins, being more down to earth make her feel more 'real'.
She isn't the orphan acrobat adopted by the Batman. She isn't the street kid who stole Batman's tires. She isn't the boy-genius who worked out Batmans identity and trained with Shiva. She isn't the Batman's biological son with blood ties to Ra's al Ghul. She isn't the mute daughter of an assassin trained from childhood to be a weapon.
She's a girl who made some stupid mistakes, probably isn't cut out for the job and would be smarter to hang up the tights, but has the heart to keep going and eventually proves herself. I like that. It's a better version of Babs origin. I never liked the 'karate and a fancy dress otufit and suddenly I'm a competant vigilante!' start she had in post-crisis.
Man, the Spoiler costume is so fucking good. It really needs to come back.
It did, though.
Steph wasn't pregnant until the 50s issues of Robin - six full years after she was created. I do think she's one of the most "real" characters in the Batman family, largely because Dixon based her on the girls he grew up with.
I agree with almost everything you're saying except "probably isn't cut out for the job" thing. I think she's just as naturally talented at fighting as Tim.
I genuinely like how this has become a stealth Steph thread. I feel like Becky Cloonan could write a pretty solid, readable Spoiler ongoing.
Man I miss Gotham Academy. I love the look on Damian’s face in that page, one of the few times he’s ever looked in over his head.
Becky Cloonan could write a nice Steph mini, but I'd really want her to draw it. :)
I miss Maps and Katherine Karlo so much.
And Riko from We Are Robin.
Gotham Academy, Prez and We Are Robin were so good it physically hurts that most of those characters will never be revisited. I actually like Duke Thomas, and don't get what they've done with him since he separated from his friends. He was damn good as the leader of a pack of Robins and now he has color powers? Or something? I mean, I read his mini, and he felt like a totally new character, rather than someone I'd read 20+ comics with.
Damien has been 10 for like how many reallife decades now
Try 13.
Have Brian Wood write and Cloonan draw it.
I've not been impressed with what I've read by Brian Wood. Is there any of his work that you think I should check out to see if it would fit with Steph? Not that the Big Two would hire him after he and that woman trashed his reputation.
Yeah. Even though Batman and the Signal brought back Riko and Izzy, Tony Patrick did a terrible job capturing any of the character's voices, not to mention the ridiculously terrible way the powers were used. Even Hamner's art was pretty sketchy, which is sad, since Hamner is a top tier artist.
Demo was good at exploring teenagers and young adults. Haven't read it in years but I remember it being good a sa teen comic which I think would fit Steph.
DMZ WA sokay too but i know a lot of people found it bland and I can see their arguement for it being bland but I thought it was good enough.
Northlanders was good too but wouldn't be a rec to see if he could write Steph.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
I always liked this panel of Damian drinking coffee from Batman Inc.
