Attack on Titan S3 part 2 will begin airing on Toonami starting May 25th. Timeslot yet to be decided. This means there is NO Memorial Day marathon this year. Because it releases here before the Funi stream, we might miss a 4th marathon too.
Last week, we started a new show and a new schedule, which usually creates some trouble for the numbers. However, the block did well overall, settling in quickly. The only real issue to note was a very narrow increase for SAO off TPN. This week, everything was down overall, however TPN till the end was a fairly gradual drop. TPN lost the demo to SAO, Jojo and BC, so perhaps it’s not in the best slot. It was Easter weekend, likely why everything was down in general.

God I hope we're all dead by then
Oliver Perez
It’s been 7 years now without one, doubt we start now. Plus, who says we even make it to next Easter? Super ends in November
Adrian Morales
user, they are losing Family Guy and Bobs Burgers. They have to keep anything they can Toonami is staying
Isaiah Cooper
On a side note that I'm pretending is related, Gamusetto Machu Picchu is rerunning every night at 1am in 30 minute episodes. At least there's good anime SOMEWHERE on [as].
Tyler Howard
Toonami is expensive as fuck to maintain, and the only reason it gets any ratings is BECAUSE of Family Guy. When that goes, Toonami is finished
Jack Martinez
the end is near. Adult Swim's empire collapses due to Disney.
Ethan Barnes
More like "when that goes, [adult swim] is finished. Because CN doesn't give two shits about their old stuff any more and the hype for R&M died out once the Pickle Rick episode dropped.
Henry Thompson
I wonder what they'll do about 70 commissioned episodes? I mean, asking for that many was a dumb idea to begin with.
Matthew Jenkins
And AT&T can afford it if they want to keep the lucrative Adult Swim name alive while going through the hurdles of losing the easy cash cow
Wyatt Garcia
>when Family Guy goes, adult swim is finished Ftfy
Zachary Fisher
Yea because keep a sub 200k anime block on TV is really worth it. Everyone thought they partnered with Crunchyroll for the benefit of Toonami. What’s really happening is CR will use the Toonami name to promote their own content
Brandon Stewart
It’s not so much any episode in particular, it’s the fucking wait time. You announce 70 more episodes early last year, and you’d think that would put some on the map in early 2019. Instead, nobody has heard a thing and it’s nearly May
Jackson Martinez
>I wonder what they'll do about 70 commissioned episodes? Probably move the show to TBS. >I mean, asking for that many was a dumb idea to begin with. Not really, I totally get what they were trying to do, reduce the wait time between seasons by ordering a bunch at once. Unfortunately this is Harmon and Roiland we're talking about, so it was a wasted effort. If it were anyone else making the show, we'd see results.
Isaiah Moore
They took the money and ran. ATHF was killed for this.
Jason Jones
I remember people saying 70 episodes was retarded last year, and that was before the Fox stuff started dropping left and right. Even 30 would have been pushing it. I don’t know what they were thinking
Ayden Russell
On the current timeframe that could take 10 years to make unless ordering in bulk reduces that somehow.
Brody Davis
Exactly, I would think AS would be able to spot what a fleeting fad is, and Rick and Morty fits the definition perfectly. They have 70 episodes, and I imagine 50 of those are going to air long after Hot Topic stops selling R&M shit
Juan Walker
>I would think AS would be able to spot what a fleeting fad is Robot Chicken hasn't been popular since around 2010 and they keep renewing that. Adult Swim always keeps shows going long after they should've stopped (except Metalocalypse).
Daniel Ward
Well Metalocalypse got canned because Small thought he could pop off to his superiors. That’s was a lesson in reality less than a cancellation
Nolan Evans
>giant drop when Bort comes on Are people just sleepy or did Demarco create the worst end of the block bundling of shows that people fuck off en mass when it starts?
Kayden Butler
What's the story behind Metalocalypse again?
Wyatt Perez
Why is it every time I watch my hero I think to myself "Naruto did all of this and it felt more impactful"
Is it nostalgia goggles or is my hero really that uninspired?
Nicktoons is already having a marathon week this week just like they did last week, same with TeenNick
Jordan Rivera
It copies Naruto and tries to emulate the moments it had without having the proper context and circumstances that made those scenes work.
Logan Wilson
Robot Chicken is cheap and easy to make
Benjamin Ward
Deku lacks solid ambition and balls to be the greatest hero. Also, Bakugo actually has a brain, making the rescue arc pointless
Brayden Perez
The latter. Nobody wanted Boruto and the rest of the block past it is crap, so people turn it off after Chad Clover.
Nicholas Gray
I was just sleepy as fuck after Black Clover
Matthew Ramirez
Most shonen is just copy and paste from other shonen. We are currently in the Sauske retrieval arc, the only difference here is the MHA Sauske legit was kidnapped against his will and doesn’t want to be a bad guy.
This is probably one of the few unique moments in MHA >hey let’s go ahead and cut that kid loose, he is way too intelligent to lash out randomly in a room full of enemies >uh boss didn’t we recruit this kid because he was a spazz that lashed out randomly at his allies? >cut him loose it will be fine >second the shackles come off he pops off on whoever is closest >just because the main guy has been talking his ear off with bullshit for hours
Brendan Small thought he could talk shit about Lazzo, so Lazzo cancelled his show and sat on the rights so he couldn’t take it anywhere else
Landon Phillips
>1:30a Black Clover (r) 377 0.19 248 What the fuck. How does BC almost build upon Jojo when it's a fucking recap episode?
Jonathan Young
Jojo sucks and Clover is kino
Jack Diaz
MHA is mediocre as a shounen and as a capeshit
Evan Rodriguez
If these threads didn't advocate Black Clover as something good I would have taken what's been said seriously but you really just come off as contrarians.
Joshua Reyes
Not a single fucking post you replied to even mentioned Black Clover
Joseph Butler
I used to watch those shows just because they were either on the way to the good stuff, or so close to the end I’d have felt like a quitter. Now that 2 straight hours at the end are garbage, I just go to bed. I have zero motivation now to watch that crap
Thomas Cruz
Definitely nostalgia goggles. I mean if you negate the fact that Naruto was also inspired by other shounen then its a pretty pointless thing to bring up. The good thing about being a fan of both is that you can really tell if people are being serious or not saying that Naruto had more impact or are just funposting for (you)s. In question being the Sasuke retrieval arc, an arc that had the shakest writing in the series, where Kishimoto retconned Sasuke's character and had to asspull a scenario that forced him to leave Konoha for no reason youy'd have to explain why it worked. >Deku lacks solid ambition and balls to be the greatest hero Yeah its like the show is about his journey to become that hero or something. Would be pretty fucking redundant if he was already at that stage in the story.
>Bakugo actually has a brain This whole thing came about because of his own retardation. Its not really unique just that so many retards who see this as a Naruto ripoff get surprised when its proven time and time again that its not as if Naruto isn't the only shounen in the world and if people actually paid attention to his character the conclusion would have been obvious. Where did he fucking said any of those anons mentioned BC? Hes saying that these threads praise BC so it kind of retarded to bring down MHA for being "uninspired" and a clone of Naruto while turning around and praising VBC so you're either fundamentally retarded or a contrarian Which is it? .
More Lupin, huh? Pretty cool. I imagine more people would be foaming at the mouth about this if Toonami hadn't spent the last few months premiering shows that aren't sequels.
Ryder King
>because of his own retardation I think the part about him having a brain is about how he doesn't want to join the evils for no reason. But I could be wrong.
Austin Walker
I heard people unironically call it AOTY so I'm decently interested.
Oliver White
I was planning on marathoning this in honor of Monkey Punch but knew this was gonna happen sooner or later, so this is fine by me.This ain't Boogiepop though. But on the other hand it isn't another Shonen show or obvious pick, so the feeling is complicated.
The only new show they have got that wasn’t a sequel is TPN though. This is more slop the audience literally does not want to watch
Levi Mitchell
>lupin >not obvious Are you retarded?
Joshua Bennett
RIP Toonami
Luis Edwards
Friendly Reminder that Lupin Part 5 is replacing JoJo Part 4
Jaxson Baker
Oh damn, I completely missed last week. The new schedule is messing with me; I was out by the halfway mark of SAO and completely missed Jojo and the others. Anyway, here's last week, as taken from the archive:
11:00 Dragon Ball Super 827 0.41 530
11:30 My Hero Academia (r) 619 0.30 385
12:00a The Promised Neverland 506 0.27 342
12:30a Sword Art Online: Alicization 515 0.27 346
1:00a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable 433 0.22 284
1:30a Black Clover (r) 417 0.21 275
2:00a Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 346 0.17 217
2:30a Naruto: Shippuden (r) 316 0.17 213
3:00a Hunter X Hunter (r) 277 0.15 196
3:30a Attack on Titan (r) 232 0.13 170
As OP said, I'll just chalk it up to Easter. Maybe next week is better?
Jack Robinson
I kinda wish we could go back to the early days of this new run where we didn't chase fads and got a look at different things to make popular as opposed to what's already popular. Oh well.
David Peterson
I'm trying to meme a mildly popular when it aired mystery show onto a block that is a slave to any past, present or future fad show, so maybe.
Josiah Hughes
My thoughts exactly. I honestly think the only way the block can maintain its niche is by going against the grain and giving a spotlight to hidden gems. Leverage that branding a little.
Blake Rodriguez
Super into Hero: Lose 34.9% Pretty sure Bort held better Hero into Neverland: Lose 17.2% Drop is pretty consistent Neverland into SAO: Lose 1.4% SAO into Jojo: Lose 6.0% Pretty good retention for Jojo Jojo into Clover: Lose 4.1% The week without gains Clover into Boruto: Lose 11.9% Boruto into Naruto: Lose 9.6% The fuck is this? Naruto into Hunter: Lose 1.0% Gotta say, I'm interested in HxH again Hunter into Titan: Lose 14.8%
>Hes saying that these threads praise BC so it kind of retarded to bring down MHA for being "uninspired" and a clone of Naruto while turning around and praising VBC so you're either fundamentally retarded or a contrarian Which is it? . Not him or any of those folks, but it's because BC is only a "Naruto clone" for its introductory arc and is fully itself by the Underwater Temple arc. MHA still gets cues from Naruto to this very day.
Asher Jenkins
See guys, I'm keeping my variety promise!
I hate how predictable the lineup has been for the last four years with endless sequels, long running shounen and whatever is currently flavor of the season.
I’m not gonna list out an entire lineup. I just want something that isn’t from Jump or a sequel to something they already aired
Jace Moore
Rip late night demos
Jayden Williams
we literally just had Mob Psycho and Megalobox
Juan Sanders
Basically what said The ideal dream lineup isn't possible anyway due to modern TV rules, and some other factors. if it's not HD it can't be aired unless there's major nostalgia behind the show.
Landon Roberts
Both of those shows were extremely flavor of the month if you follow any type of anime community. Those pickups are just Demarco following whatever everyone is talking about and listening to his top 5 requests.
Justin Stewart
>we literally just had 2 things that were 4-8 months ago 2 fucking shows is not enough when they are wedges between 3 hours of sequels and Jump crap.
John Hernandez
>wanted to make joke that Jojo is leaving, not staying >they picked the one thing that will get worse ratings Demarco even ruins my shitposting
Colton Wilson
So when is Discotek releasing the blu ray?
Parker Stewart
I haven't watched Toonami in so long, yet the line-up is still the exact same from when I left except for Promised Neverland...
Don’t worry, Jojo ends soon, surely that will get replaced by something fres- >Lupin Welp
Nathaniel Stewart
>giving a spotlight to hidden gems A lot of people don't know what these hidden gems are, both casuals and frequent anime viewers. Plus Toonami isn't as big that they can afford promoting shows that are long over. For example, what reason would Toonami have had to only air Dai Guard for 2 episodes? This was SR meta goodness but even Toonami themselves didn't know what they had. That's why we can't complain about no hidden gems because the people behind the program don't know what they are either.
It's gonna be weird watching this in a post-monkey punch world.
John Jackson
>people don’t know what hidden gems are Yes, that is the definition of hidden gems. Keep in mind, no one is saying air old bullshit either, that’s ratings suicide. There are mountains of shows from 2010 to now that could use a little exposure and probably pull a crowd just by the nature of being fresh and engaging. We are talking shows that are fresh to casuals like Akame ga Kill. Normal fans knew about it, but it was a huge casual draw. That’s what the block needs more of
Caleb Lopez
Oh, right. I keep forgetting the block is run by a faggit with the tastes of a teenage girl.
Julian Gray
Shit choice for the block, but does confirm for sure that there is no Memorial Day marathon thank fuck
I wish we could fire Demarco, it’s the only reason garbage like this gets on
Lucas Jones
This time it's mostly in France. It's a little more hardcore than part 4 was. I don't think Lupin and company actually killed anybody in Part 4, even that episode when Jigen fought the gangsters he just made them shoot each other and stuff. And then in episode one of part 5, Lupin straight up murders like 5 people in a gun fight.
I strongly suspect it was Monkey Punch behind gradually reintroducing the grit, sex, and violence into Lupin after the 2nd and 3rd TV series toned it down so far. The Woman Called Fujiko Mine brought back the tiddies, and Part 5 and Spray of Blood brought back the murder.
It’s a start, but Jump is not the only source for content, and it shouldn’t be when the block is supposed to be adult focused
Jacob Bennett
how based can one MC be
Carter Garcia
No they wouldn’t. No one wants to watch something old. The moment they see dated animation, they change the channel
Angel Clark
anyone notice Tom has had less of a speaking roll in the bumps? Are they short cash?
David James
>00s >old You fucking what
Parker Hughes
>Lupin part 5
Is it 22-26 episodes like part 4 because that was p4's problem. Going back and forth between Lupin/the dounut steel girl and Lupins/Italian Kars was a chore to get through.
Robert Brown
Yes, it’s 2019. That means those shows are between 9-19 years old. Far too old for Toonami. I’d even say it’s getting too late for some of the early 2010s era shows
Sebastian White
They got a sharp budget cut for 2019. They trimmed out a lot of shit in January, and I’m sure you have noticed they cut down on the promos as well
Isaiah Parker
Remind me how old you were when you started watching Toonami
Josiah Lee
user, the early 00's were 20 years ago.
Jack James
You don't understand what makes anime "old", it refers to the format and aspect ratio. Anime made after 00, generally speaking, have modern aspect ratios and starting around the mid 00s HD releases became more and more common. The reason they don't want to do stuff from the 90s or 80s is because it's all 4:3 and not everything got a BD-remaster so it would be DVD quality at best.
But stuff made in like 2006 or 2007? That's 16:9 and probably has an HD remaster.
Nolan Wilson
So let me get this straight, based on Demarco’s retarded new policy on promos >TPN stops getting promos on May 25th, AoT starts getting them >2 weeks later, AoT stops getting them and Lupin gets them >a few weeks after that, Lupin stops getting them and the next show gets them
Parker Hernandez
AoT has always got promo priority, so I think it will just get them till the end of its run and won’t overtake TPN. Lupin never got promos, so it may not get them either, which takes TPN to its end, getting a promo every week
Blake Wilson
No, I think you don’t understand what the definition of “old” is. It’s a date, a time, not an aspect ratio
Lucas Morris
Not relevant to this discussion at all because kids don’t watch Toonami, they stream. They have no nostalgia attachment to it. More importantly, when I watched Toonami, it was on CN and couldn’t air anything more graphic than Jump stuff. It was a necessity then, not now
Julian Brown
Age wouldn't mean anything in this case, that's not stopping anybody from enjoying a show. If they never heard of it they'd have no way of knowing when it was made. The average Toonami viewer doesn't know enough about anime to be able to tell if a show was made in 2005 vs 2015, if they never heard of it they'd never know the difference.
That changes when you're talking about shows that are visibly dated by their format and aspect ratio. Demarco has gone on record saying that's why he won't air stuff from the 80s and 90s.
Colton Myers
That doesn't mean they don't exist.
Jackson Flores
Nobody cares if they exist. Literally the only viewers that matter are between 18-49. Everyone else is worthless. The shows should reflect an 18-49 audience
Adrian Hill
Bet on Gundam The Origin TV version, OPM season 2 and Golden Wind
Owen James
14-49 can't carry Toonami. They need teh casuals.
Robert Cruz
The target demo is men aged 18 - 49, Demarco is airing shows for boys aged 11 - 17 mostly. The reason numbers have plummeted is because a lot of the target demo fucked off and the only ones left are the ones who prefer entertainment aimed at teens.
James Mitchell
>OPM season 2 To be fair, the first season did very well for Toonami, so this isn't necessarily a bad thing unless the several years between seasons killed the hype like with AoT. But if it makes you feel better, it's Viz, so don't expect it until January.
Thomas Clark
>is because a lot of the target demo fucked off Exactly, see
Samuel Cooper
Nigga you need to accept that people have moved on. Nobody is going to come back to toonami just to watch OPM. The audience it's got is the only audience it will ever have, and it will watch it slowly dwindle. This is the path Demarco chose when he stuffed the block with long running crap.
Henry Baker
This is Adult Swim, not baby faggot happy time. If you want entertainment for children go watch MLP.
Jaxson Reyes
WIthout baby faggot happy time shows, your manchild block would be cut.
Benjamin Powell
It’s not just the time, it’s that it got dump on JC Staff. The J in JC stands for JUST
Evan Perez
>an age group spanning 36 years that the advertisers target at can't carry Adult Swim >we need the children and the senior citizens Wew lad, just cancel the channel now.
Matthew Adams
You say that as if casuals will know, notice, or care that it changed animation studios.
Jaxon Mitchell
I don’t think you understand how this works. Toonami, and really all of AS, NEEDS 18-49 viewers. This is non negotiable and will not change. Viewers outside of that range are appreciated, but do little, if anything for the advertisers. Toonami can’t survive by pandering to the wrong demo
Blake Davis
>but it's because BC is only a "Naruto clone" for its introductory arc Look at this faggot and laugh
Kevin Green
JC Staff is that bad, it’s going to be immediately obvious that something changed, even to the biggest casuals
Anthony Thomas
>BC is only cues from Naruto in its introductory arc >current arc is aping the fucking Pain arc Kek
>MHA still gets cues from Naruto to this very day. Gonma have to point to the arc in Naruto that focused on developing its villians.
I'm not saying to pander 100% to casuals where tf you got that from? I said that their numbers can't be understated. That's why complaining about "Jump crap" and lack of mature shows shouldn't be a thing because either they're ratings sinks or Toonami doesn't know what they have.
Jaxson Lopez
Someone hasn't been paying attention to the immediate negative reaction to the drop in animation quality after the first pv.
dont you remember that time orochimaru invited sesshoumaru, zangetsu, rob lucci, and sid vicious to start a league of villains?
Juan Hall
You should still be against it >hurr old man die :( air his bad ratings show Remember they secure shows 3-6 months ahead of time, so this wasn’t a spur of the moment choice cause he died. They planned this without any outside motivationa
Elijah Gutierrez
And here they are. Maybe the true power -is- never giving up after all?
>Gonma have to point to the arc in Naruto that focused on developing its villians. Oh idk >Zabuza arc >Chuunin Exams >Konoha Crush >Sasukeeeeeeeeeeeee arc >every post TS arc Almost every arc has had villains being developed, Hori just neglected to give Shiggy any weight so he's doubling down on LoV now
Brandon Sanders
>TPN gets a black nanny
is this what passes for horror in japan?
Luis Nguyen
Doesn't change the fact that its autism level and associated "fans" that came with it became too much for actual AS fans.
Hudson King
>another sequel
It's hard to believe this is the block that had the balls to have a debut lineup with Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins.
Congratulations. None of those arcs focused on the villians or developed them. This is why it pays off being a fan of both since you can call put shitposters all the time.
You're not even a fan, you're just a shitposter. Why is it that nobody talked about BC before you came along? >Pain arc, named after Pain, isn't focused on him Kek, MHA is really well off without you, you drag down their already low IQ
Michael Foster
The problem is that after that panel, Naruto starts forgiving Nagato. Asta hasn't forgiven Licht and will never do such faggotry.
Ryder Harris
>shitting on BC makes you a shitposter
And this is why its fanbase is a laughingstock
>Pain arc was focused on Pain No it wasn't shitposter-kun. He was the main antagonist not the main focus.
>The problem is that after that panel, Naruto starts forgiving Nagato. He doesn't forgive Nagato he just decides not to kill him.
Charles Hughes
Nope, he did. Naruto "let's go of ill will" that's the literal sense of forgiveness.
Levi Adams
>he thinks I don't know his modus You've been posting the same images time and again Jeremy. It's no coincidence that out of all the conversations in this thread, you chose to focus on BC. >He was the main antagonist not the main focus. Jesus get your IQ up. It's like saying Avengers IW wasn't about Thanos when we got his whole backstory.
Carter Clark
Man, Asta is kind of a baby face. Though, I don’t think I have watched any shows where he had a notable role, so maybe all the Chadsta memes set my expectations too high.
Noelle however, looks exactly like I expect her to based on her voice. I first heard her in New Game, and I can see her being either a loud tsun or a soft spoken stuttering mess
Wyatt Richardson
Black people are basically non existent over there, so they are just a myth they learn about via the Internet. Meaning all they ever see are the horror stories, which is likely what keeps them against immigration
Nicholas Morales
So when BC eventually ends, Noelle is probably in the best position to win the astabowl, right? I imagine with age Asta will eventually accept sister Lily is never going to be an option
William Thompson
What the fuck demarco you retarded piece of shit when i said i wanted part 5 to replace part 4 I DIDNT MEAN THIS
Monster Musume Strike the Blood Infinite Stratos Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Thunderbolt Fantasy Galko
Ayden Powell
She looked WAY more offensive in the manga.
Adrian Sanders
>Infinite Stratos What GOD AWFUL tastes you have.
Ian Roberts
Yes. All of this. Except spread out over several weeks just like people like also delet this because think of the spoilers except it aired April 1st for 6 hours but
Levi Walker
Infinite Stratos has a kino dub though
Grayson Powell

Carson Davis
>lupin starts the 15th >HxH ends the following week >TPN ends the week after that Wew lad that’s a lot of changes coming fast. I think the general consensus is AoT is going to be the early replacement for HxH, and when HxH actually ends, it will be replaced by a rerun. That still leaves a fresh slot where TPN is though. I hope it’s replaced by something new and not another dud sequel
Kevin Diaz
I’d be shocked if TPN isn’t replaced by Mob season 2 but I suppose that one may be a timed exclusive for streaming.
Why does Black Clover even need a recap episode? It's the most simple anime ever made.
Jayden Parker
Why does Lupin get worse ratings in Toonami? It's everything adult swim wants in an anime. It's got music, a witty sense of humor, and enough violence and fanservice.
Jordan Peterson
Hiatuses Are young girls (biologically male) even fun to be around at that age?
>the girls have accents >Ichika sounds less dense Kino indeed.
Brody Watson
yeah i noticed they called her "he" why draw girl but call guy
Dylan Brooks
If he's going to throw money away on furshit, at least hit two birds with one stone and get Gundam Build Divers, checks the "throw money away on Gundam" part as well.
Because it has none of those things. It’s scooby doo in Japan.
Joseph Nelson
>music No one picks up a series just for the music unless the focus is music >witty sense of humor There aren’t many laughs to be had, cheap or witty >violence Part 4 sure didn’t. I hear this part has more though >fanservice Only in the movies

>when one of the girls fantasizes about Ichika, he speaks in that girls accent I had quite a few nice touches for a battle harem

Black Mom's are legit scary, user. They're not afraid to humiliate or beat their kids in public
Brandon Torres
What, Fujiko getting stripped naked every other episode not good enough anymore?
Charles Cook
tfw the only porn that came out of divers was a wolf mpregnancy doujin
Cancelled twice, which is a no-brainer since the anime is unironically 80's saturday morning cartoon level. I can only wish that One Piece gets a better anime adaptation one day.
