Name 30

Women getting the vote.

More like what's with the drout of them in the 2000s

The 2000s were dominated by mostly boy-targeted cartoons, it's just more balanced now. TV execs have finally figured out that boys don't mind watching cartoons with prominent female characters.

Pandering to women is a popular thing to do right now. Hopefully it will just die off in a couple years once we get over the "WOMEN CAN DO IT TOO!" message.

>sudden rise
>only like two shows
Retard

This is the norm, the late 90s and 2000s were the exception.

>pandering to half the population is a popular thing to do
No shit sherlock. And it's going to continue to happen because it makes them money.

>Sudden rise
What are you talking about

Get woke get broke pal, infusing retarded feminism into things is a sure way to burn away money
I miss when str vs was a fun show and not some depressing MTV romcom burn pile

Name five magic girl cartoons. Go ahead.

Who said anything about "retarded feminism"? I'm just talking about having cartoons targeted towards girls.

Winx Club
LoliRock
Mysticons
Miraculous
W.I.T.C.H.

Pay up, fucker.

Attached: magic.jpg (1250x500, 670K)

Witch was 2000's.
Four shows over a decade is not a convincing trend.

>Winx Club
>W.I.T.C.H
Not from this decade. Miraculous is the only more or less relevant there.

It's a trend, people will get tired of it and they'll move onto some other vein to exploit.

I wouldn't say so, there has always been "girl" cartoons that have relatively been their own thing but cartoons today definitely feel more feminine across the board than in any other time period.

Women took over middle management in the 2000s. The same women gave jobs to other women instead of men (because who needs more men right?) and now the industry is like 70% women.

Star is a nudist

More women in the biz and men wanting to make shows that are different than the ones out there. Also . This isnt complicated.

>Get woke get broke
do people still beleive this? There can only be so many "exceptions" before saying this makes you look like a retard

Blame MLP being successful.

please define "being successful"

Epic meme bro! Top keek and a lel to you too

It got big with dudes. It showed studios that the magical girl strategy of appealing to girls and autistic nerds at the same time was viable in the west

The sudden rise in my pants!

Women who grew up in the 80's and 90's getting into the industry? There was allot of "girl cartoons" during those decades or atleast cartoons with female protagonist.. Especially if you include anime and back then allot of people did.
>She'Ra
>Sailormoon.
>Powerpuffgirls.
>Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Cartoon)
>Pepper Ann
>Braceface (Or was this early 2000's?)

But to be honest op I can only think of a few examples.
>Star Vs
>Hilda
>That Ladybug show
>New She'Ra
>Every other show on Crunchyroll if we include animu

Women have been in the industry since the 30s, with many having pretty important roles at major studios. It hasn't been a boys club for a long fucking time.

MLP showed that giving cartoons to people who actually give a damn about their work can net you tons of cash.

Are there even 30 cartoons running at the moment?

everything has already been explained here:

youtube.com/watch?v=GJMHDGT629c

Could only stomach 2 minutes. This guy is absolutely clueless.

More women are going to college than men, ergo we are starting to see more women in professional industries like TV

More female showrunners. Simple as that. Women probably feel more comfortable righting main characters who are the same gender as them. Obviously this isn't always the case with Sugar and Steven Universe, but often we can't help writing what we know.

Well Steven's basically female anyway, it's not like he exhibits any traits of masculinity or is treat like a male by anyone else.

How is one "treated like a male" user? Are they bought pants for example? Steven fits that qualification.

>Obviously this isn't always the case with Sugar and Steven Universe
Greg is the only functioning male in the show and he's already been shown as a bald, fat, and an incompetent piece of shit.

More women than male graduates. Honestly, I feel like this makes the most sense.

Also, as other people have said, women have been in the industry for a long time. In fact, they used to be exclusively colorists and cell painters before they were able to get more opportunities.

The opportunities have been there in the industry for some time.

They don’t greenligt the shows.

I think the bigger factor is the near collapse of action shows in the West, and less gender segregation.

He's a multi-millionaire and manages a semi-successful band. Do you retards even watch the shows you bitch about all day.

Correct. Was there an implication to the contrary? The cel painter and colorist women information I mentioned was in reference to a practice that hasn't been around since the 40's.

I see, I'm sorry I inferred something else.

I want to FUCK Star

>>be me
>>live in Saudi Arabia
>>Dad tells me all girls love pink and cute things
>>Watch a few cartoons (Star vs the forces of evil, power puff girls, etc)
>>think that girls only love pink and cute stuff, and they obey us men
>>think I’m superior, because in my country women can’t leave men

>>find a cartoon called Daria
>>mow I realize girls are people too

People like me are the reason there are more girl cartoons, they’re trying teach us that girls are people too

>multi-millionaire
He was just got lucky. It's same as a hobo winning a lottery.
>manages a semi-successful band
He had to becuase nobody has free enough time in Beach City to babysit a bunch of teenagers except for Greg. He's just a lazy bum.

this looks cute will it tickle my autism?

90s was the drought. They moved from the 80s which had tons of them to the 90s which had a mix of boys action cartoons and Warner/Disney boys and girls toons. But nothing for girls whatsoever until 98-99 when Nick and Disney started churning out their slice of life stuff.

If it makes you feel better, Cartoon Network and Boomerang will never EVER let any girl cartoon have a chance to survive outside of a 6am Sunday morning timeslot.

Christ! Stop promoting that shitty video!

I still think it's hilarious how they actually tried to market such a girly show towards young boys, and how phenomenally that failed.

Anime

A certain show with a certain fanbase got executives convinced that shows of that nature were profitable.

Women who grew up with girl-oriented anime, e.g. Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Cardcaptors, Tokyo Mew Mew and others, now get to call the shots.

Kinda this. The US caught on to the fact men like watching perfect, cute and feminine girls do stuff and just exist. It's a billion dollar industry. However unlike Japan the US totally missed the point (cute, feminine) and went down the feminist and gay route, while also avoiding fanservice and such things.

Modern cartoons are aping anime and they're doing an absolutely terrible job at it.

Kek, the majority of cartoon community doesn't give a fuck about MLP, it's not on the Big 3 so the average audience of Steven/Star/AT/GF/whatever doesn't watch it

Muh feminism and tumblr cunts

Simple, boys stopped buying action figures and switched to games. Girls are more likely to continue consuming traditional media and can be influenced into buying associated merchandise.

The Pony show proving that they also appeal to a male audience.

Affirmative action gives women more money. Companies pander to women knowing they now hold more money, and to girls since they'll soon join the workforce. Pretty simple.

>kek
Stopped reading there

A weird shift of ignoring demographics in favor of representation. The only successful 'girl shows' in the last 2 decades have been because they attracted large male audiences. The simple truth is girls 9-16 are more interested in live action kidcoms than cartoons, and the ones that DO like cartoons aren't drawn to ones marketed specifically towards girls any more than their male counterparts. Eventually networks are going to realize this but rather than changing direction they'll just say that feminizing young boys is the new goal and keep pushing forward.

>women
>people

But he sums up perfectly the insiders of the animation industry

This
They're just getting more attention because appreciating women and girls is fashionable right now. As Told by Ginger and the braces girl were way more targeted at girls specifically

Then she got kicked off the show after just 1 season and a talentless vice president kept hogging the show for 8 years straight.

Then CN kept hiring talentless hacks who look retarded and are actually retarded.

Wow. Wow Glimmer.

>girl cartoons
>most of them are just the boy cartoons but with female protagonist
Strange how that works.

Pretty sure companies aren't going to lose interest in trying to make money off women.

True.

But they only took things over in the 2000s. In the 30s through 90s they were generally in a minority position. But rather than get into a “equal” position in the 2000s it went full tilt into a takeover and now if you look at middle management at Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon or even companies like Hasbro, it’s 8 to 2 women to men in that middle management zone.

They are the gatekeepers of everything now so everything is catering to—not female tastes, feminist tastes— and of course, since no one seems to have caught up to the fact (or the media just wants to ignore it) that women have absolutely taken over these positions, no man is allowed to talk about the simple truth that they are extraordinarily discriminatory and hostile towards male subordinates or show runners.

They still like to clame “Muh Patriarchy” and point to the fact that the top 1% of 1% of a company – – the board of directors are still majority men to try to prove their point, while the entire middle portion of the company, the vast majority of managers and middle managers who are actually making the decisions, are all women who are terribly demonstrative and oppressive towards the men who work under them.

This is the animation industry in the west now.

You know this of course from watching a handful of youtube videos and your own gut feelings

I work in the industry, and not in some ridiculous mail room position.

That is absolutely how it is right now.

No you don't

Clearly I'm not lurking the right threads.
What is this video and what is wrong with it?

The dude who made it spammed it here non-stop for a good while

So just generally shillery then, gotcha.
Where should I go if I want actual insider information and don't feel like kidnapping Hirsch?

You read what people in the industry say on twitter. They're probably going to sugercoat things, but it's the only semi-reliable way of getting something close to the truth

The answer full stop is the lack of them in the 2000s. A bunch of people thought "we should make a girl show to stand out" all at the same time.

t. Someone working on a girl show who's original concept was in 2015

>women like dumb girly shit
>it's popular right now to have a main female lead to be woke
>men/boys want to fuck little girls
It's pretty obvious.

Women have low standards and are easy to please.

Lauren Faust.

There have always been shows aimed at girls and boys in that 6-11 demo. I think you mean, why are all the shows with "lore" centering female characters now. (Which isn't really the case, but okay) A lot of the shows with "lore" were created by female cartoonists who grew up watching anime. The boy shows are more slice of life, dumb humor, and fighting. Because that appeals to that demo.

Not really. Adventure Time was lore heavy and the main character was male. But yeah, there are more female cartoonist, and they're pretty good and have a refreshing way to tell a story

With a mouth shaped like that who can blame them for the rising popularity?

Why do people like this show again?

Gets dicks hard, there will always be interest as long as you have dudes who jack off to the sticc or thick characters. Show cute girls, get attention. It's simple equation user.

I do, but whatever you say user.

This is sad but absolutely true.

It’s funny to watch women run everything while simultaneously acting like they have nothing.

That's why I said it's not the case. You also forgot Gravity Falls where the only important female character is Mabel.

Easy, lazy waifu b8.

Waifubait doesn't exist. Even if it did exist, it would not exist in the American animation industry.

You're right, also Mabel was not that important. I also find that shows tend to evolved from Slice of life to lore heavy the way anime tends to introduce the main characters and fill to not overtake the manga.
The real divide in demographic is age. If you notice most of the shows that are talked in here are lore heavy I'd say from horse show tier to higher. Other shows aimed to younger demographics are talked about because nostalgia and realization of the adult jokes that make those shows watchable. Underage ban at its finest
