So now that the dust has settled, who was right?
So now that the dust has settled, who was right?
Carol.
Fuck off, Bendis.
Anyone who didn't bother reading this dumpster fire.
Anyone who chose not to read this
Those who opted to read Justice League Vs. Suicide Squad instead...
The team that watched Minority Report.
But we all lost by reading this wet fart.
Me for not reading it.
Should have had another name.
Bendis wants you to think Tony is right.
Third post best post.
the man, obviously.
Why would Peter Parker ever side with Carol? He literally defected from Tony's side in the first Civil War when he saw how awful Tony was being with sending people to the Negative Zone. Carol was trying to do the same thing by arresting people who hadn't done anything yet. This was so dumb.
Because Carol was obviously right and he's not a moron.
>cap and spiderman on the side that just decided to forgo due process
AYY YO HOL UP
THE FUCK is Iron bitch gonna fend off Captain Marvel?
Can someone give me a TDLR on this
Carol wants to use someone who can see the future to arrest people before they commit crimes, Tony is against this.
He didn't lmao
Carol wants to prevent disasters but Tony wants people to die needlessly instead
Carol. Aside from the Hulk debacle (arguably not a mistake on her part) the worst thing she did was temporarily detain people for a couple days, something we already do with much less reliable information than magic-Inhuman visions without it being nearly as big a deal as people here make it out to be. Tony on the other hand was completely against using the visions for anything, including preventing deaths in natural disasters. Not to mention USAvengers shows that had Carol not used the visions to stop Thanos it would mean a post-apocalyptic future with most of the heroes and countless civilians being killed.
Tony was just trying to keep things from E S C A L A T I N G
Because he found he could work with it. He waited until they were about to commit the crime before intervening. If he thought he could convince Carol to wait til she was absolutely sure, the future sight thing would be very useful.
Tony was right, but because the writers are retards they couldn't write a smart reason for him not to go along with it. So he ends up looking like a dumbass.
Makes sense hydraCap sided with marvel, idk why Spider-Man did tho
>idk why Spider-Man did tho
So Bendis could do some dumb shit. Under a good writer, Spidey would never side with Carol.
So was the correct side more or less clear cut than the original Civil War?
No it was worse
The question was using the ability to see the future
Carol wanted a full Minority Report system despite the future sight having possible flaws
Tony wanted nothing at all, even if it could be used to prevent massive catastrophes/the apocalypse
Both sides were retarded and wrong, and the entire conflict was reliant on everyone being retarded and wrong.
No in this case both sides were wrong and the answer was literally in the middle.
No, because the decision-making doesn't make any sense whatsoever on either side.
>Both sides were retarded and wrong, and the entire conflict was reliant on everyone being retarded and wrong.
This is correct and I don't see why there is any kind of debate of "who was right". For someone to be right they had to be making reasonable decisions in the first place. Both Tony and Carol went full speed ahead into dumbass dimension.
Only people who dropped this piece of shit immediately were winners here. We all lost wasting time on this trash. Fuck everyone involved with such a poorly written mess.
Best post on this entire thread
I think I read it but honestly cant remember
Oh, that sounds like there was no way this could have been satisfying at all
War Machine died because it looked like he died in the Civil War movie trailer, and Bendis wanted to do some synergy.
There were continuity errors. Not just the typical "forgot thing that happened years ago". Between pages characters who just left reappeared and disappeared again. In the side comics, Carol forgot Magneto was a holocaust survivor and gave him shit for bringing up the holocaust.
The entire climax of the event was literally just multiple splash page advertisements of upcoming events/stories.
I would go so far as to say this was the worst event Marvel has ever had
Or how it seemed like Tony was upset at Carol because he warned her about believing the prophecies and getting a hero killed.... But pages ago he was warning about what would happen if one of the prophecies showed a hero being a threat. This wasn't even an issue-to-issue continuity flub, this was pages apart.
Illuminated Comics for making Carol’s War out of this
Wait wasn't Cap on Iron Man's side?
Just don't think about it. The whole thing was a disaster.
The first preview of CW2 we got to see showed us Captain America (Falcon) Vs Iron Man.
It's obvious they didn't know what were they doing.
Sure thing, Stalin.
>Carol wants to prevent disasters
>Tony knows they're not predictions
>Carol ignores him and makes dumb decisions
Yeah, Heil Adolf Danvers!
Me for avoiding this shitshow.
It was part of his hydracap keikaku to whack it over Tony’s comatose body in his spare time.
Tony for wanting to thoroughly test the prediction shit out and for having watched Minority Report and knowing that nothing good can come of future crime cops. Carol just went full Adolf because....I assume the trauma of losing Rhodey made her want to go all in so his death wouldn’t be in vain? It wasn’t very well written.
Pretty much. I don't see anything good that came of this. Did it even have a good tie-in comic? At least the worst events manage to have something good tied to it.
Once you go black...
The art was pretty good.
To be fair, giving the outspoken mutant supremacist who has attempted to kill humanity on at least one occasion shit for bringing up the Holocaust is perfectly justified.
It's pretty fucking amazing that Illuminated's blatant parodies managed to be significantly better than the stories they were mocking.
>thanos was only defeated by a team of magical swords
The event we need but don’t deserve
She doesn't bring that up, which would be perfectly valid
Ulysses was pretty fuckable.
Hey, you’re right. Tony was correct to fuck him.
The entire event he just looks so awkward and uncomfortable like he knows he's about to get gangraped and trying to be nice so they'll go easy on him.
IIRC the Cho Hulk ongoing at the time was actually pretty alright, but most of the tie-ins were bad. This event was sprung on them at the last second by Bendis and editorial, and a lot of the writers had to scramble to fit it into their planned storylines. Some of them clearly didnt even have full details about the plot.
>tfw Iron Man holds you in his sex cave and does unspeakable things to your butt in the name of science and all his hero friends treat it like normal Tony silliness
>Tony kidnaps a twink, ties him up and ‘tortures’ him whilst only wearing his slutty bodycon undersuit
Jeez, what an experience.
>I assume the trauma of losing Rhodey made her want to go all in so his death wouldn’t be in vain?
You sure you actually read it? Because this describes Tony to a T, he was like "muh Rhodey" throughout the rest of the series as soon as Bendis has un killed for synergy.
>Carol wanted a full Minority Report system despite the future sight having possible flaws
Also this is wrong because there were very few flaws in the system, the one I can remember was the whole empty suitcase debacle that was never resolved, aside from being a self-fulfilling prophecy that turned the victim into a Hydra agent. When Tony kidnapped and experimented on Ulysses against his will to see how the whole thing worked, he was at first like "these aren't predictions!" right before turning around to say "well okay they're predictions but they aren't reliable for some reason so they shouldn't be used!"
Then HydraCap later on tells him the reason why he's so against it is simply because he's not in control of it, otherwise he would be championing it.
Whoever fired bendis.
they were right.
>Did it even have a good tie-in comic?
Yes, but it was an event tie-in comic about a character refusing to get involved in an event. She spends the issue in her underwear, if you need another reason to read it.
>as soon as Bendis has un killed for synergy.
Because the Civil Trailer made it look like War Machine was going to die.
How stupid do you think they all felt after they saw the movie?
Given how Bendis tried to justify it later as "not wanting to be behind the movies", I'm sure he felt proud enough despite the error. All it truly did was expose them as not being in the creative team for the MCU anymore that they have to synergize through trailers.
But that's okay, at the end of his Iron Man run he brought him back in the most contrived way possible.
>aside from being a self-fulfilling prophecy that turned the victim into a Hydra agent
This is a very bad flaw. If just about all your visions are extremely negative, creating self-fulfilling prophecies through immediate action is a big problem.
Tony's dumbass ideas are irrelevant, as I also said he was wrong.
The one with the correct view was Spider-man, who accepted the vision, carefully monitored the situation, and took action as soon as it became clear that the situation demanded action. He used the 'tool' to augment his crime fighting, not dictate it.
I bet you he wasn't fired. I think he quit and moved to DC because they skipped him over for editorial. He began the move about the time they promoted the Shogun to bossman.
>very few flaws
>only one correct prediction
>the predictions are based on probability in a universe where improbabilities are a constant on earth, canonically apparently because of celestial corpses drawing shenanigans to the planet and infecting the locals
Carol used Ulysses recklessly, and Tony didn’t want to use him at all because he’s been in a similar position and seen how it doesn’t work, but was also too afraid because of that to at least use the kid as an early warning system without immediate conviction.
Plus, Ulysses was completely unreadable by psychics, a complete unknown and could have so easily been a plant from one of the various enemies the planet has or in league with Thanos to sow discord. Believing him completely and turning on Bruce and Miles was just plain stupid. Especially when the Hulk vision resulted in Bruce being murdered instead of hulking out.
>He used the 'tool' to augment his crime fighting, not dictate it.
It's funny because in her own book that's how Carol used it, but everywhere else she she showed up, guns blazing, to "prevent" the crime from happening. All because the writers were taking cues from the main book instead of looking at the characterization, resulting in an inconsistent mess. Like you said if the predictions can be trusted, they should be used to assess the situation, not to rely entirely on the outcome presented.
>only one correct prediction
What?
>Especially when the Hulk vision resulted in Bruce being murdered instead of hulking out.
No... That vision actually turned out to be the rampage at the Resistance base during Secret Empire and the ones that died were LMD's.
The rest is correct but I have no idea what you mean about
>canonically apparently because of celestial corpses drawing shenanigans to the planet and infecting the locals
Well that's really the problem. Carol's book should be the pillar others draw from when characterizing her, but since she was the main character of the event books it was overshadowed.
In the end when I criticise the event, the main books are gonna outweigh the better written ones (literally any other book). Maybe it's not fair to the character, but it is fair to the story.
Stevil
>As soon as event ended, the hipster mutie or whatever the fuck he is "ascended"
>Everyone pretended like nothing happened for some reason
>Hint hint at at Spider nigger beat the ever living fuck out of Cap Hydra ended being fucking nothing
>Tony creates a machine that can do the same as that Inhuman shit, back in the 90s
>spergs out now
This shit had nothing to do with Tony being against the visions. He was just butthuet he was gonna play second fiddle to Carl Manvers. The whole event was just him having a fit because of his ego.
>REEEEEEEEEEEE I WANTED TO CREATE A TECHNOFASCIST REGIME AND DRESS PEOPLE UP IN WEIRD FUTURISTIC CLOTHES REEEEEEEEEE
This event ironically made me hate Carol and Inhumans.
Fucking this. Different writers kept trying to paint using Ulysses' visions as inherently wrong, even when it didn't make any sense. Like in situations like Thanos or pic related where the person they go after was ALREADY a wanted criminal.
Carol, if you had the patience to read through teh actual event it had a correct prediction percentage hovering around 85 and other nations were willing to submit info to get in on it.
The fans for not buying it.
It wasn't the same. Tony was using that machine to respond in time to prevent disasters, wars, and supervillains, Carol was arresting civilians for things they hadn't done yet, and Bruce Banner got killed because of one of Ulysses' visions.
>Tony was using that machine to respond in time to prevent disasters, wars, and supervillains
Except that Tony was against Carol doing that as well. The whole reason he started the war was because Carol tried to stop Thanos from stealing a Cosmic Cube, and succeeded, but in the process War Machine happened to die.
Carol arrested the civilian because she thought that she was a Hydra agent who was about to blow up the stock exchange.
Bruce Banner got killed by Hawkeye, not Carol. And it turns out that Bruce had even asked Hawkeye to do it.
Carol was saving people from natural disasters and prepping for crime that was about to happing. The case lady the first and iirc only time in the event were someone arrested before they did anything.
>Got his tits stabbed by fucking Hulkling of all people
Shameful
Minority Report but with superheroes.
The people who didn't buy this shit.
>Both sides were retarded and wrong, and the entire conflict was reliant on everyone being retarded and wrong.
Truly the sequel of Civil War
Reminder that Bendis originally wanted to kill off Peter in CW2 instead of Bruce, but Slott and the rest of the marvel office told him no
This, civil war ii was trash
