Let's play a game Yea Forums. Pick a classic episode of the Simpsons and then reimagine the plot if it was written by the modern writers.

I remember there was a podcast that discussed the idea of The Principal and the Pauper written today. Homer would do some stupid act 1 irrelevant shit which would lead to Skinner revealing he was an impostor and some rando from out of town is the real Skinner, who wouldn't be voiced by Martin Sheen. Probably someone trendy. Chris Pine maybe? It doesn't matter. Eventually our Skinner would probably do the same thing he did in the original, you know go to Capital City and everyone realizes they want him back instead of Chris Pine!Skinner and then it doesn't get resolved and Act 3 involves Marge going to space for. Whatever reason.

>Lisa vs Malibu Stacey
This wouldn't be pretty by any stretch.

"There's No Disgrace Like Home" is the same but with Lisa in Homer's role. Lisa is embarrassed by the family's behavior at Burns' party, and brings them not to Marvin Monroe, but to Chris Pratt voicing a therapist.

The "Who Shot Mister Burns?" 2 part mystery special now becomes an hour long rant about how "Guns are bad, mkay", focusing less on Burns's actions and the gag reveal and more on the gun itself. Actually come to think of it, if they did the "Homer Gets a Gun" episode today, they wouldn't have the gun club act like sensible people calling Homer out on his negligence and instead paint them all as idiotic psychos

Don't these threads just immediately turn into "SJWS REEEE" bitching?

To be fair modern Simpsons is very left leaning, but thanks for derailing the thread

Bart becomes a youtube sensation with his Fortnite dances, but when Homer tries to get in on the action he becomes grievously injured.
Meanwhile, Lisa discovers vaporwave.
Guest starring Pewdiepie, Jontron, Marplier, and Bonibonkers.

actually from what I've seen they've been more harsh on SJW culture than other shows. Remember that yale thing? There's some other stuff that I can't precisely remember that is similar

Bart Gets an Elephant
>While on the internet, Bart sees a pop-up ad for a Free African Elephant, he clicks on it and nothing happens
>The Simpsons' internet provider gives them an Elephant (out of fear of getting sued)
>Bart and Homer make a small fortune letting people use Stampy for recreation/work
>Lisa sees that Stampy is sad, so she says to Homer and Bart that they should take him to an elephant sanctuary, they refuse
>Lisa and Stampy run off together in the night to the elephant sanctuary
>The Republic party joke stays the same, but the Democratic party joke is now "we want what's best for everyone" and "we're just plain saintly!"

sneed

>pop-up ad
how are the 90's treating you?

>"Homer Gets a Gun" episode today, they wouldn't have the gun club act like sensible people calling Homer out on his negligence and instead paint them all as idiotic psychos

no, it would just be an iPad instead of a gun

Lisa reminds Bart that he forgets her birthday every year, so Bart promises to get her a present this year. Meanwhile, Homer discovers that all of his white shirts have dyed pink because Bart put his red hat in with the laundry. Homer is forced to take a psych test by Mr Burns for wearing a pink shirt to work. Homer is sent to a mental institution, and is put in a cell with a small white man who seems to believe he is Michael Jackson, and who introduces himself as such. Being unfamiliar with Michael Jackson, Homer believes and quickly befriends him.

Marge, upon hearing what has happened, comes to the institution and is able to convince Homer's doctors that he is not insane. Homer bids farewell to Michael, who reveals that he is in the mental institution voluntarily. Homer decides to let him stay in the family home. He calls and tells Bart that he is bringing Michael to stay for a few days. Against Homer and Michael's wishes, Bart tells his friend Milhouse and soon all of Springfield turns up outside of the Simpson family's home to see Michael. The level of excitement is deflated when Homer introduces Michael and they realise he is an impostor. The townspeople become angry at Bart and leave. At the same time, Lisa comes out of the house and is upset with Bart because he has yet again failed to acknowledge her birthday, because of his excitement over Michael Jackson's arrival.

After overhearing Lisa write in a letter that she is disowning Bart as a brother, Michael convinces Bart to let him help. Together they write and perform a song for Lisa's birthday called "Happy Birthday Lisa". Lisa is thrilled and hugs her brother, saying that he has given her the best present ever.

Honestly this is something everyone is probably overthinking. The modern era's issues are consistent enough in a way that makes a reimagining simple.

Take any classic episode, make act one a bit longer and have more fluff,

Make everyone a bit more broad, not completely ridiculous since basically everyone has been toned down since the teen seasons

Make the jokes a bit more spelled out, more unrelated visual gags

take the final scene, add a few more jokes to make the emotion get undercut a bit.

There you have it. Its now an "okay" episode that has too much going on, a pacing problem and not enough emotion to get invested into because the writers room added too many jokes, half of which landed

You forgot to take the first act and replace it with the first act of another unrelated episode

JonTron’s not allowed to voice anything anymore

I don't actually keep up with the e-celebs.
Replace him with whatever's a jontron now.
Maybe those Macklemore triplets.

It's not a stretch, they had the Scary Maze Game in a recent episode.

I dunno, the Macklemore quintuplets don't seem so popular anymore. Maybe Will Smith? He's a youtuber.

i think it's more challenging to take a later season ep and try to make it more akin to the classic era.

Pretty accurate

Simpsons has always made fun of left wing stuff. From making fun of Jimmy Carter and the restaurant that Troy McClure went to. Or Mrs Hoover's PC thug comment, and Marge's college professor

Make it all very over the top too. Take the one where Bart sued Homer and legally emancipated from his family.

If it were a classic episode Bart would have spent a night or two in the warehouse and gotten scared, then lonely wanting to be with his family again. He would have returned with an apology and a heartfelt moment.

But it was a later Simpsons episode so it turns out he lived upstairs from a party loft with Tony Hawk and Blink 182 and partied with them. And Homer had to challenge them to a skate off in the X Games to win Bart back, with a remote control skateboard.
