Blunt, Winnick and Strahovski would have owned the role. Especially if Blunt went full Edge of Tomorrow. BDH would have probably been the charismatic Carol MCU needed to compete with Gadot's WW, because she's likeable and still has that weird mom vibe from Jurassic World.
Can't speak for Lively or Wood, though. I've only seen Wood in thirteen and across the universe and she came off as a total cunt in the latter.

I really am legitimately baffled how well Captain Marvel is doing. The first trailer was abysmal. The actual film is so average that it barely tries anything to its fullest degree, and the character has barely a personality to be memorable.
