Why is no one talking about Victor and Valentino? Is it shit?

People expect it to be Mexican Gravity Falls, but it turned out to be nothing so ambitious. It's decent, but not really impressive.

Its interest-drawing power is supposed to be from how it pulls from Mesoamerican mythology and its Latin setting, but the creator stated in an interview that he doesn't want to touch the "scary" myths, and Mexanons have ripped into the show for being an Americanized version of Mexico.

The creator's name is Diego Molano. Not sure about whether he's ever been to Mexico or not, but he said in an interview that he wants the show to break the barrier in terms of Latino representation for children's television, and to give Latino kids insight into their culture. He voices Victor, and it becomes pretty clear early on that he's new to VA work.

there's no lore or special background to the kids or their location explaining why weird stuff happens every episode. people just randomly happen to have supernatural stuff happen where they live, which is kind of boring to me compared to something like gravity falls or early svtfoe.

If you're referring to that Comic-Con teaser (youtube.com/watch?v=atutlhoyc_Q), it likely wasn't footage from the final show since it was animated by Owen Dennis himself. The crew probably hadn't even started getting finished animation back from overseas by the time the teaser was released. The show's gonna look just fine.

Another thing to note is that we still don't actually know what Infinity Train's character designs will be like since we only have Tulip, a corgi, and a tiny spherical robot to base it off of. There will likely be a whole number of unique designs throughout the show.

The jokes have been flat. El Colorado was funny, but only because of Kevin Michael Richardson's delivery.

I don't know, maybe we're being too hard on the show. Sure, it's a complete failure in terms of Latino (when did "LatinX" become a thing?) representation, but I can pinpoint at least one thing in each episode that I liked, except for maybe the babysitting one.

It's an obvious attempt at making another Gravity Falls clone. And those are always mediocre and forgettable since no one involved really wants to make it and just kind of does whatever to churn it out before they move on to their own personal projects that they actually care about.

For its flaws Gravity Falls was still a passion project and the crew at least in season 1 legitimately tried to make it into something worthwhile. None of the other clones have had half as much effort.

Those are really appealing drawings. It's a shame they're being wasted on such a shit protagonist. Hopefully, the VaV team will get better at writing a lovable asshole character, and hopefully, Diego will get better at voice acting.

With Vic, Diego (also the creator of the show) is most likely new to voice acting and doesn't know how to properly emote for an animated character.
Not sure about Val's voice actor, he might be new as well.
