Interestingly, it seems the epilogue is taking the story the snapchats set up and is sort of rebooting it. Seems they forgot about Jack, though. What I really couldn't get a handle on was Dirk's motives. Clearly his endgame is to set up a sburb session and take control of it, as well as the universe it creates, but if he was fucking off from Earth C anyway why was he so invested in the election?
The election plot to begin with felt really out of place and more of an excuse to give the cast something to do while the narrative plot was going on, as well as to give the writers an excuse to remind the reader every five minutes that racism and fascism is bad and the world is going to shit because of rich people.

Pleb status = fucking FILTERED. The epilogues were incredible. Dense, complex, and layered as fuck, but all of Homestuck has been. The main difference between them and the comic was the level of darkness and maturity a d lack of whimsy, but that's fotting for an end to a long-running series we all grew older with as time went on.

Ultimately all the people I see complaining the epilogues were bad just didn't seem to understand them. But at the very least I would have thought more people would have laughed at them because they were funny as FUCK.

With how bad the comic has got, I would rather watch fanventures than this.

As much of a bleak clusterfuck as this ending was, I enjoyed the feelings of nostalgia of being back in the community while we all react in our own ways together.

Regardless though, it's not an aside, it's the thrust of the conversation, the pivot upon which their discussion happens, the core contention of John's uncertainty. For comparison, the discussion of Roxy's apathy, the actual element the story addressed, was only 270ish words.

And it's so fucking tedious. It doesn't matter what their conclusions are, it has nothing to do with whether or not I agree, it has to do with the clear fucking sincerity put into approaching these issues with the subtlety of a bulldozer, rolling over the reader, and anything else going on in the story, with the flat fucking explanations and assertions more at home on cue cards than lines of dialogue. That's one of the best parts about the political side story, is as much as it made out Jane to be a horrid fascist bitch, she kind of had legitimate points and wasn't just being cartoonishly evil for no reason, which Roxy also pointed out.
