Shazam talkback

Just saw Shazam.
It was pretty great.
Probably my favourite DCEU movie so far.
I really liked the scene where Sivana chases Billy through a mall and they use the environment in a bunch of different ways like having him thrown into a changing room and having him step on a piano mat.
What did you like about the movie Yea Forums?

Really? That scene was the one you really liked?

I liked Billy and Freddy figuring out the powers.

Also the third act with the family and Sins.

>What did you like about the movie Yea Forums?
I liked nothing and and i will never believe in anything i read on this board ever again.
Fucking shills.

I'm curious what you were expecting and what movies you do like.

I liked
>Don't stop me now training/testing montage
>The business office
>Billy teleporting them to the gentleman's club
>Heartwarming moment when Billy intitates family moment at the end, to the joy of his foster parents
>Superman's small appearance
Lots of small funny/wholesome moments in this film, 8.4/10.

This part was pretty good

Most unexpected was Mr. Mind cameo at the end, though

It is because it dropped the retarded DC grimdark.tm and copied Marvel's quippie / light hearted way

Not if you saw him when Billy first entered the Rock of Eternity.

MCU didn't invent light hearted movies.

Yeah, coz Infinity War was so light-hearted

>What did you like about the movie Yea Forums?
All scenes with Billy and Freddy Mr.Mind cameo
All I wanted was a fun movie with The Red Cyclone and I got it.

The artistic choice of first showing Billy´s childhood in angelic colours to show how he glorified it in his memories, then shooting it in realistic light from the mothers POV to show how grim reality was great

Also
>Sivanas traditional labcoat can be seen under his jacket and coat
>Mr. Mind having a distorted voice because he had his voice box
>GOAT foster parents
>Zachary Levy´s ad-libbing being humorous on par with Reynolds Deadpool

The pacing was a bit off, and i felt there was some missing potential with how the 7 sins were handled in the plot, but otherwise great movie. Saw it with my younger brother who loved it

Guys, is it a box office flop or is it not

I liked the part where they were opening up all the doors.

I really iked when he figured out how to fly
man slapstick is great

I loved darla. She reminded me of how my brother was when he was a little kid.

>It is because it dropped the retarded DC grimdark.tm and copied Marvel's quippie / light hearted way
The movie still has its dark moments. Mainly the Scene in the conference room and when billy meets her real mom and discovers that she really didn't want him. that's more brutal than most things the MCU pumps out.

it won't even get $400 million worldwide

it's a literal disaster. I would say it's the end of DC but they already have 7 more movies they're going to have to dump probably on Netflix

I did like this scene

Attached: Shazam.webm (860x360, 2.88M)

It's made back over three times it's budget last time I checked.

which explains why it's bombing so bad

no one wants a shitty MCU knockoff when they can get the real thing

The bit where Sivana is giving his speech and Billy can't hear him. Because Sivana is very clearly being an operatic villian through the movie, so of course he's going to give a villain speech. I also thought it worked as a sign that Sivana is kinda drunk with power at this point. He just assumes when he speaks Billy can hear him.

Why do you care? If you liked it, why do you need to know other people liked it? Why do you need to know that a thing you liked is the best thing?

I liked some of the cameos Superman at the end and Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman in the toy store and the animated version of Jason Momoa in the end credits.

You can't know if it was a flop unless you know DC's strategy and expectations. Ultimately things are only successful relative to the expectations of the company that produced them.

>90 million dollar budget
>288 million box office and counting
>bombing

Ladderbro, what's your favorite part about sucking mouse cock? Is it the general flavor of the shaft itself, feeling mouse balls bounce against your chin, or the thrill you get every time you take a hot rodent load in the back of your throat?

>What did you like about the movie
Hee hee haw haw...I named the gods, doctor, not the other way around.

DC expected this to save them and turn things around from the obvious death spiral they're in. It didn't and now they have 3 r-rated movies between now and Wonder Woman 2 that will kill whatever audience is left

What I liked? Adult Darla. Man, she's a fuckin hot chocolate goddess. And I loved when she sat on Santa's lap and said she has been a good girl

End credits were kino

The film just made 300+

It's officially in profit zone

That was cool yeah

Did you feel sometimes the influence of horror background of the director?

I know it's already set for a sequel, but knowing DC and all...I just hope it does well in the yes of it's corporate overlords. I don't even see superhero movies and saw Shazam twice.

In other news, the entire adult Shazam family dudes have NO RIGHT to be so fuckable. Especially Adam Brody, who I didn't even know existed before the movie.

Careful, user. She has a history of coming onto older men and then having little girls voodoo them to hell if they don't return her feelings.

>I just hope it does well in the yes of it's corporate overlords
Well we're in the golden age of superhero movies where they rarely do less than $600 million worldwide and this won't even reach $400 million so unless DC and WB sent it out to die it's probably not looking good.

I liked the movie a lot, but seeing the credits I was thinking, "man, you can't make the credits one of the best parts of the movie".

>Spider-verse gets 375 million by the end of its run with relatively the same budget as Shazam
“Wow Spider-verse did so well critically and commercially”
>Shazam as of today gets $320 million
“It’s a flop kek”
Jesus it’s like ladderbros don’t have a brain.

I really want to say that the mats a Big reference. Haven’t seen those things in real life in a loooong ass time.

I liked the joke at the end where Billy acts as if he was being tempted by the sins.

It was obviously a joke, but it was a decent call back to his introduction to the foster family where Freddy was joking and winding him up. BIlly had always been distant from the foster family, so it was also a neat way to underline the theme of him opening his heart.

Also the fact that the movie paralleled Billy and Dr. Sivana without the movie beating me over the head with it. They both lost something, (hell, I don't think the ball compass and the eye being visually similar was a coincidence either), both sought obsessively after it to the detriment of everything else. Billy had people to help him and turned out well, being able to give up his obsession once he understood how damaging it was; and Sivana had nobody, and had the object of that obsession fail him when it counted.

>What did you like about the movie Yea Forums?
It treats the DC universe as a real world the movie takes place in. It's not just crossover bait bullshit.
Mark Strong treading a fine line between serious intimidating villain and ridiculous saturday morning villain.
Zachary Levi absolutely sold it as Billy. Never felt like a grown up man playing a kid.
Jack Dylan Grazer's awesome as Freddy.
All family moments were genuinely heartwarming.
Mary's college interview. Fucking sly fox.
Don't Stop Me Now montage is hilarious.
Billy reuniting with his mom was heartwrenching. I think I teared up a little.
"Say my name!" "BILLY!"
End credits were pure joy.

>what I didn't like
The sins' design was kind of bland. I liked that you can identify them from subtle diffrences, but overall they're pretty uninteresting, which made the family fight scene equally so.
In fact, all action scenes weren't really interesting, except the shopping mall one.
Asher Angel's not quite there as Billy? He does great at the reunion scene, but otherwise it wasn't too remarkable a performance. He was pretty much obfuscated by Freddy.

>having little girls voodoo them to hell if they don't return her feelings.
I don't know if I should feel scared or interested...

loved the movie, shame it was sandwiched between marvel movies, when of course even poor shits saved their coins for endgame rather than shazam

Billy's foster family was perfect, it's hard to have so many characters and make them enjoyable and lovable but they pulled it off. Kinda wish we got more of them and less of the villains desu, but hey it's a superhero movie so you gotta devote a decent amount of screentime to the supervillains.

i realize that whenever the studio cast the right race actress/actors for character you know (black for black white for white and so on ) people love it(mary , darla , harley even Scarlet as Black widow until the end of first avengers now she is meh) but when they(studio) try to be "progressive" people don't like it is not about the race is about right cast and people will not hate (openly) the wrong casting choice bu they will not have love for it (look domino in DP2 i know marvel but still or now new black black canary)
some times great casting can earn millions even if the movie is meh(suicide Squad)
a also like that the movie shows that ther are good woman/mother and bad woman/mother.

In my case ( ) it's absolutely true, yeah.
