When is Three Caballeros editing out the guns and cigars
What about this?
>youtube.com
They're editing out all the crow scenes? But they're vital to the actual plot.
But user its current year and we have to shelter our children from the naughty things of the past because we have glass bones and paper skin
They can only watch our approved live action version
>When is Three Caballeros editing out the guns and cigars
Saludos Amigos has edited out Goofy's cigarettes since the 90s.
>will not be on Disney+
Who fucking cares?
I was about to say it's less about sanitizing the past than it is not continuing to willfully spread ignorant bullshit, but then I remembered it's Disney we're talking about and it's 100% about sanitizing the past.
On a related note, is the lemming murder on Disney+?
Who the hell even cares?
>sanitizing the past
>not continuing to willfully spread ignorant bullshit
Same shit different name.
>Who cares that a huge plot portion of one of Walt’s classic animated films is being edited out like it never existed
Get a load of these anons
I hope not, it’s unironic misinformation presented as fact.
Oh boo hoo, part of old ass Movie is taken out, only boomers care about this shit.
Isn't Dumbo already only like 45 minutes long? The movie is going to be barely over a half-hour if they cut the crows out.
I'd honestly be surprised if any of Disney's live action stuff from the 50s and 60s show up other than Mary Poppins
I was honestly thinking about getting Disney+ if they had Walt Disney Presents on but this turned me off completely
Fuck Iger for ruining Disney.
The crows are the only 'good' people to help Dumbo outside the Mouse and his mom. They actually encourage him to fly.
Fuck disney. Also, congrats. Editing out the crows means you made your 40 minute movie 35 minutes.
Figures, disneys run by a bunch of yellow bellied cowards too afraid to ever put in anything above a PG rating
Why can't they just do what WB did and put a disclaimer at the start saying that these movies were from a different time?
Boom, problem solved.
Also, are they leaving the roundabout song in?
>we work all day
>we work all night
>we never learned how to read or write
Nigganon here and I think that's pitiful. The crows were cool. Little kids don't know shit about Jim Crow laws anyway. So are they editing out my Roustabouts too? Might as fucking well, since we're walking on eggshells 80 fucking years after the fact. Oh but I guess nigga silhouettes working is more friendly to the narrative than cartoon bird niggas talking shit and having fun.
Based black user speaking the truth
SANITIZE
>Nobody site claiming it from "sources" close to Disney+
>Disney has been fine releasing Dumbo as-is, and last did so physically 3 years ago for the 75th anniversary and is still selling it digitally
I'm calling bullshit. Not only has Disney not really given a shit in sanitizing Dumbo like they did with Fantasia, but they're a crucial part of film, taking up around 10 minutes of the 1 hour runtime. It's impossible to sweep them under the rug without pissing off everybody.
Also, everyone fucking knew that when Disney claimed they'd put every film up that there was a slim chance that it'd mean Song of the South.
>do what WB did and put a disclaimer at the start
It's funny, because Disney actually did it first in 2002 with their Disney Treasures line, specifically for the black and white Mickey cartoon set. Prior to some of them, like Gallopin' Gaucho (where Mickey smokes), they had Leonard Maltin talk about the short, how it was a product of the time, and how obviously today Disney wouldn't have Mickey smoking, and that they don't support smoking.
That's what they did for the Disney Treasures sets, but I doubt even that'd be good enough today.
That's why I'll always be thankful to Leonard Maltin and Roy Disney, they're the ones that got virtually all the shorts restored and released on home video even if they were limited and are now expensive as fuck and will live on forever as rips on the internet. No way Disney would allow some of those shorts to be released today.
>Little kids don't know shit about Jim Crow laws anyway.
Growing up as a white kid in Aus in the 90's I actually thought the crows were the coolest characters in the movie. It's not like they were portrayed as stupid or criminals or anything, they were funny, slick and good natured.
Did kids actually see the crows and think black people, or are overly sensitive adults being offended on their behalf? The stereotypes are so dated I don't think black children would get it.
What about Dumbo getting drunk? ain't that shit a lot worse?
I'm a nig and I'm not offended by the stereotyping, so why remove it?
I assume they had to replace the even more blatant racism earlier in the movie right? The original exists, it doesn't matter, no one cared then so why care now?
This is how the majority of white people have felt about black people for basically the entire 20th century. Half the shit that gets labeled 'racist' now like blackface and shit was basically the equivalent of a white guy wearing parachute pants and a fade in his hair. They equated a race to a culture, and they LIKED that culture, because it was full of bawdiness, drugs, and fucking excellent music. That pattern repeated like every 8-12 years until rap was invented, and a significant percentage of people flat-out disliked 'black' stuff instead of just hoity-toity sorts pretending to dislike it.
And all millenials care about is dilating, what's your point?
Just amazing how sensitive boomers are that a part is cut from a movie that probably won’t even be watched by more than five people on Disney +
"I'm offended on the behalf of people who don't give a shit" is SJWism in a nutshell.
We're saying its a retarded move.
Are you saying this is a good thing?
I’m saying it ain’t worth liking or disliking, kids don’t give a shit about dumbo, and you act like it’s a tragedy or liberals trying to offend you
You're still replying, and insulting people who think this is retarded, so I'm going to go with "I unironically think it is good that someone took the time and effort to censor these scenes from the original."
I’m insulting you pussies who are crying about this. Kids don’t give a fuck and you’re acting like these crows being cut out is a tragedy of art, when in actuality, Dumbo doesn’t matter, figured the live action movie flopping would tell you that but boomers tend to have thick skulls
Literall you.
Don’t reply to the troll
Hell, he responded to me first and I won’t give him the (you)
Trolling implies they're being disingenuous, but they sound like a typical Yea Forumsmblr retard.
Have fun crying tears every time Disney removes a scene from an old movie. I gotta ask, what is it about this that bothers you?
Dumbo was never really one of my favorites, but:
1. It was still a significant aspect of the movie.
2. The reasons behind removing it.
They just did it because some higher ups didn’t want to offend people, or virtue points if I’m being more cynical, but why? What is it about that that annoys you
The kind of people that it would offend, or the kind of people you want to score "virtue points" with are not the kind of censorship-obsessed assholes I want to be pandered to, especially at the expense of quality.
no kid in 20XX is going to even understand that the Crows were suppose to be racial stereotypes. They are just talking birds with weird accents.
>no actual website
Nice try OP.
So, no magic feather?
What are you looking for, artistic integrity? Preservation of history? Because you and I both know it’s a company first, and they’ll always appeal to the majority, and there will always be a way to find the removed footage online. It’s no different than deleted scenes,
>and they’ll always appeal to the majority
>implying "the majority" approves of this
They're appealing to a loud fringe of fanatics. Everyone else thinks this is stupid.
If it’s so stupid, then it’s not even worth debate, it’s not even worth making a thread. What does this even accomplish, you’re complaining over something inevitable, about a film you don’t even particularly love.
Yes, you are either a complete retard or being incredibly disingenuous to not notice this as being part of a larger trend, instead of some kind of one-off isolated incident that has never happened before, and will never happen again.
>you are either a complete retard or being incredibly disingenuous
This is Yea Forums. He could be either one.
So are they gonna cut chinese cat out of Aristocats as well? Because that's infinitely more stereotypical and offensive than this was.
>black people are so stupid they don't know how to be offended
You're censoring art you faggot. But that's just like white people, remove and rewrite, that's how they always worked since the Kangs n shet days.
kids don't know about racism or anything yet. so to them, they're just fun singing crows that teach dumbo to fly. that's what i thought they were when i was a kid anyway.
>Also, are they leaving the roundabout song in?
Why do you think?
>censoring art
You realize there's literally dozens of versions of the movie out there for the public, right? Why does it matter when it's on Disney+?
I feel like I've seen this exact thread before weeks ago. Post for post, image for image. I'm freaking out, man.
Yes, erase history. That'll teach kids not to be mean in the future. Genius.
Not that user but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a first step by testing the waters and then re-editing the future BDs editions
Thanks Disney by not being racist by removing from history the movie that gave the first Oscar to a black person ever.
That wasn't Gone with the Wind?
Honestly though.. and everyone correct me if I'm wrong... isn't the depiction of the crows in this movie the equivalent of characters in more modern cartoons, such as the following;
>Gerald of Hey Arnold
>Static Shock
>The Proud Family cast
>The Freeman Family (Huey, Riley, Grampa) of The Boondocks
>Bebe's Kids
>Numbuh 5 of KND
>Vince from Recess
>FAT ALBERT
>Chef from Southpark
>Conroy from Rocket Power (bet none of you remember him)
They all depict their time's stereotypical depiction of African Americans. The Crows are the same, it's just uglier because at that time they faced a lot of racism at the time.
But list what the crows did and displayed.
>hang out with friends
>Sing a catchy song
>Help a baby elephant fly and be KIND, unlike the rest of the cast of the movie (barring mouse and mom)
Just rewatched the crow segments and I noticed this gem.
This shit would electrocute Dumbo, birds don't get shocked to shit when they perch on transmission lines because they can only sit on one wire and so they don't experience any electric potential difference (the Voltage is the same throughout any one wire and the copper is much more conductive than flesh/blood so even considering them a high resistance 'wire' in parallel the current through them is incredibly low). You'll cook an elephant with the current through him by shorting those lines.
Edison would hate this scene.
Edison and Disney were very similar, probably they'd hate each other if they met
It was song of the south.
No, it was Gone with the Wind. 1939. Uncle Reamus only gained a Special Award in 1948
Couldn't those be telephone lines?
REE FUCKING SJWS DEMANDING WE TREAT BLAX LIKE HUMAN BEINGS FUCK THE PC ERA I HOPE TRUMP CHANGES THE LAW SO HE CAN BE PRESIDENT FOREVER
I've just seen the Dumbo movie.
It was shit.
Which one, old or new?
more like disney minus
The new one of course! You silly user
i thought they were telegraph lines
>all the faggots sperggin about SotS returning in Dinsey+
>specting modern SJW DIDNEY to not pull shit like this!
You deserve this you trash
Edison was a fraud.
So, in the new version Dumbo will just have the feather, with no explanation at all as to where he got it?
Sort of like how Daffy had his beak misaligned with no content when networks would cut up Looney Tunes.
>TREAT BLAX LIKE HUMAN BEINGS
>censor art and erase history
You are the problem.
Lacking further evidence, I'm thinking that the Dumbo thing may be BS. Only three news outlets are reporting on this, and two of them are notoriously clickbait-y sites with low journalistic standards whose only source is the first site.
Can't they keep the crows and just remove the black stereotype? Disney actually know crows can talk in real life, right? Just make some realistic CGI birds and make them talk in crow voices.
>Disney makes a Splash Mountain movie with Brer Rabbit and co
>everyone now thinks the characters originated from the ride, effectively memory-holing Song of the South
they should just get Jordan Peele or some woke celebrity to say it's racist at the start. Like Whoopi Goldberg on the Tom and Jerry DVDs
I hate "woke" celebrities so much and not for /pol/ bullshit. They're moden day house negros
Good question. I just use transmission to be generic and the lines could be transmitting telecommunications or power, regardless of the purpose of the lines they are held up like that because they are high voltage wires.
Because of the heavy losses in power over long distances (even very good conductors have some impedance/resistance) the voltage of transmission wires are set very high (this means the lines can carry a low current which in turn makes the efficiency losses due to resistance low).
Interesting. I don't know when the film was set in but just from googling it was made in 1941 which was about a century later than telegraphy. It would have a lower voltage than modern transmission lines but even looking at the wires in frame it's clear it is long distance signal transmission (and since the wires aren't glowing red they have decent efficiency which tells me they are either high voltage or the animators didn't think too hard about it).
Lol zoomer who's never seen Dumbo or SOTS, the film's already had a disclaimer PSA that proceeded them since the 80's
This is pretty sad and should remind the rest of us to keep the tapes circulating.
Physical media is very important for precisely this reason.
So you're fine with an elephant flying but standing on power lines is where we lose you?
>cool black characters not allowed on the white man's streaming service
>Also, everyone fucking knew that when Disney claimed they'd put every film up that there was a slim chance that it'd mean Song of the South.
I swear to god, if they really do release it on the platform I'll be there day one. It's been over a decade since I last saw it (on a recorded VHS) and have nothing but praise for how fun the film was.
Why is censorship an acceptable practice again?
Are we gonna start banning tom Sawyer from school systems again?
I seen the new movie a bunch of IIRC a chicken or duck was in the same tent as Dumbo when someone scared the bird away. The kids were trying to feed him when he was smelling around the feather then went in his nose and the he sneezed then went into the air. The kids tell Danny Devito and their dad but they don't believe them so the kids at night try again and realize it was the feathers. So from then on in the movie every person who wanted to make Dumbo fly carried a feather. Until the end when Dumbo gained confidence(?) and could fly without one.
I got my BA in ee not aerospace or biology, for all I know that's how elephants work
Thanks a lot you pussy generation. >:^|
No it isn't, because it's about intent. Disney would rather censor their own works to pretend it never happened rather than simply admitting fault.
There's no fault to begin with.
Fuck you.
I fucking hate white people. Bunch of overly sensitive bastards fucking sheltering their kids and changing their genders.
>ITT: Retards who don't click links
The article doesn't exist and the website is listed as "coming soon" you idiots
IT'S LITERALLY FAKE NEWS YOU RETARDS
lol
what's wrong with the crows ?? why are they being removed ??
Welp, good thing there's still torrents. You had your chance, Disney, and ya blew it.
This.
Maybe they're just editing those early labour scenes since their less important AND more malicious.
NOOO I WANT TO BE MAD AT THE LIBS AND PRETEND TO BE BLACK SO I COULD TALK DOWN ON LIBS
I'M A NIGERIAN PRINCE GUYS LIBS ARE BAD
The Dumbo thing seems too far since it'd be impossible to edit out the crows and still have a coherent plot.
>Dumbo suddenly has a magic feather
>Ending just cuts to black with no reunion with his mother
This. I could see them never posting SotS, because, why would they, but trying to edit the crows out of Dumbo would mutilate the picture so much they may as well just not put the movie up.
Calling bullshit on the rumor.
It'd be more believable if there was one small scene in particular where they were SUPER racist or something easily missed. But they're vital to the plot and are in quite a bit of the movie and it's their mere existence today that's deemed unacceptable, not one scene in particular.
I'm getting real fucking tired of white guilt.
I'm getting real fucking tired at you getting real fucking tired about imaginary events that can be attributed to white guilt if they actually happened.
Song of the South I get but the crows are pretty integral to the plot of Dumbo.
>Removing the crows
Good thing I decided to boycott Disney a while back
Well parts of them anyway
it starts on Disney+, soon they will be removed from the home media versions as well.
Minstrel shows, Jim Crow, blah blah. Assuming it's even true, it's complete bullshit.
I never understood why the crows were considered racist, because of the lead crow's name? because IIRC it's never even said in the movie.
Reminder Disney is cancer.
So, this is one of them old USA whitey rich guys in a corporate ivory tower deciding that all USA whities ought to be offended on behalf of the USA blackies, even if neither the USA whities and the USA blackies are actually having a problem with that old stuff?
We've been had!
I wanna nail Bob Iger to the fucking cross
and yet they kept Panchito's guns when they added the animatronics to the ride.
It's like USA whities trying to sweep Speedy Gonzalez under the rug when Mexicans fucking love Speedy Gonzalez
