Superhero games are back on the menu lads. Will any of you be playing again now that private servers are officially a thing? Yea Forums has been having a field day with all of this recent development.

depends how you get into a private server. if i cant be my anti-social self and have to play nice to make people like me so i can play then they can all fuck off. if its gonna be secret cabal secret club style then they can all fuck off w their clique bullshit.

that said, i love that the game is back, and im really happy for the people who have been deadly desperate for it to have a chance again. i just hope that cunt who has the data eventualy releases it to the public so people can freely enjoy it

Actually the code was finally released yesterday. The first test server that was set up by the discord community is actually running right now and you can make an account on their site if you manage to make it through with 3000 other people trying to make one at the same time

Garbage game for garbage fags

I've been playing Champions Online for my super hero fix.

Granted, most of the players chose to use the game's beefy character creator to make furries, but there's some gems in there, all the same.

good lord we're back in this bitch. thanks for the heads up user you beautiful bastard. im going to wait so all the fanatics can get in smooth, then hopefully ill get in there when the queue has died down some.

this is great news

Kindly shut the fuck up, Boco. Literally nobody wants to deal with your bitching.

Boco, dude, what's happened to you?

Yeah boi.
Time for low poly tiddy

I dunno, I think given how illegal all of this was, I don't blame them for trying to limit its exposure. NCSoft has proven before that they'll stamp the shit out of anything the moment it sees the light of day. I don't think the public server is going to last long.

They can shut down the server but its impossible for them to stop them from appearing again since the files required to make them are out in the open now. He could have made a secret server to hide from NCSoft as well as release the assets for others to use but he decided to keep them secret as well.

I wish Champions Online hadn't changed hands. It was a really fun game.

If Blizzard can't do shit about WoW servers then NCsoft isn't going to do much about an IP they didn't pay much attention to in the first place.

They literally have in the past, though.

Yea Forums is not the superhero board, go back to Yea Forums if you want to discuss this particular game.

>furries
CoX character creation is much more suited to loli

You can't stamp out every single private server for a game once the source code is out. Not only is it utterly unfeasible, you'd have to be able to divert enough resources and manpower to being able to do this task effectively forever. Which NCsoft cannot do at all.

Fuck off.

These are just assblasted Leandro shills mad that their secret club was outed.

there were some quite good comics released, but I'm having trouble tracking down scans.

I'm part of the secret club, ask me anything

I loved that Mark Waid run they had for the comic. Someone should storytime it!

how do you plead?

This is a test server really, don't expect it to come together for a few weeks.

The drama behind CoH's source code being released is kinda funny. To bring you all up to speed:

>CoH gets shut down
>A developer leaks the source code to some people
>Those people use the code to set up an invite-only private server
>Invites are generally limited to those people and their immediate circle of family and friends
>This continues for several years
I might be wrong here, but:
>One of the regulars of the server gets banned or leaves
>Disgruntled, he reveals the existence of the private server to people via YouTube
>He also explains how the server admins were in charge of the CoH Subreddit and had banned people who discussed the server's existence
>People get pissed off that this had existed all along, since before that point the only hope for private servers were through reverse engineering efforts
>People begin harassing the server's lead admin, who had not only been asking for money for server upkeep but was dumb enough to use his real name everywhere
>The admin eventually gets tired and gives up the source code

And that's pretty much where we are today. From what I'm told, the code is actually a later iteration of the final playable/public build, and includes a number of significant bug fixes that never went live. There are also some database differences, so right now it's a matter of fixing up as much as possible to get everything pretty.

>A developer leaks the source code to some people
One dude, and he ran the main CoH forum that spread the lie that a private server was impossible
>One of the regulars of the server gets banned or leaves
He wasn't banned till the leak, and they banned all his friends too

There was a whole new unreleased powerset.

Ah, I knew I had some details wrong. Let me know what else I got wrong as well, please.
