I remember when mexican priests had a crusade against anime and the smurfs for some reason, those were the days.
They really had it out for Pokemon.
>dubs will never be this good again
youtu.be
It wasn't a Mexican priest, it was a Brazilian pastor against Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, videogames (He called them "nintendos" for some reason) and anime in general youtube.com
MI CARNE ME PIDE SOL Y SEXO
nah i remember Pokemon being called the devils work when i was in Peru
holy fuck what is this?
An obscure anime that got Ghost Stories quality voice acting.
It’s like Samurai Pizza Cats for Mexicans.
holy shit, this is gold!
Man, most pastors were against anime and games in the 90s and early 2000s
I see you never visited Guanajuato during the 99.

BoJack had a good Latin American dub. I am afraid to try it in European Spanish.

Mr. Peanutbutter is my husbando.
Did Koni-chan only air in Mexico? None of the local channels here had that.
Ours only showed Saint Seiya, Captain Tsubasa, Dragon Ball, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Virtua Fighter, Nintama Rantarou, Samurai Giants, and rarely Ranma 1/2. This was before Cartoon Network and Fox Kids showed anime every other country could watch with each other. I rarely had Locomotion.
European Spanish is DE PUTA MADRE
youtube.com
>and the smurfs for some reason
magic and communism, that's a twofer.
I ain't picky. I enjoy both Latin American and European dubs. I grew up watching Dragon Ball tapes imported from Spain because our VHS rental stores wanted to exploit anime kids. Some series have sadly stayed in one region. Berserk had a weird European dub, but we never got a Latin American dub for the 1997 show.
What.
Who approved of this, it's unconceivable, it's like if spongebob's catchphrase was "holy shitfucks!".
>juego de video
doki doki literature club it's just an adaptation of this segment
You will be surprised at the amount of shit you can get away with for dubs.
Sam & Max aired on Fox Kids when I was young. I only got to watch a single episode of this dub. It must have been hard to translate the jokes into Spanish. A lot of Sam & Max's jokes are how you react to the word play and their double meaning. Was it a good dub for others?

Accurate representation of argentineans.
Cybersix used to represent Argentina really well in the '90s.
Pensamientos?
Spaniards don't care as much about swearing, I used to find plenty of examples in translated DC and Marvel comics back in the day. It's like the Japanese, you'd be surprised how many E rated games, from Nintendo even, have the word "shit" in their original scripts and some fan translations used to leave them in at times.
Gumball's dub is not that great and they pussied out by cutting out the hot dog tent scene. We used to be less uptight.

"Dotto! Koni chan" in the original anime title, or El "Show de koni chan" in the mexican dub. Saw both versions and the mexican dubbed one is way funnier.
No one really knows. It is impossible to find episodes online and I never spoke to anyone who caught the episodes on TV. Rumor has it the actress bought the master tapes and destroyed them. She hated how it almost killed her career.
Comfy as fuck
Koni-chan was to Mexico what Shin-chan was to Spain in terms of dubs.
Ah, caramabas, it looks pretty much the same
You can't handle the comfy.

I really miss the '90s Latin American cable.

>DCAU Batman voice
Another dub that I really enjoyed was Invader Zim. They went really batshit.
It was TERRIBLE. Some of the worst shows ever produced by the argentinian tv industry (and that's saying something, dude). For many , it's the definition of "Nineties Cheap" level production.
Those rumors about Carolina Peleritti (the main actress of the show) buying the masters and destroying them are just that: rumors. As far as i know, it was just the owners of the rights being quite unhappy with the final product giving it the axe...but I would not be surprised if that was exactly what happened.
I miss Ruben León voicing characters. Most people don't know he also voiced Kenan's dad of all things.
Is it really any worse than what passes off as "quality" from Televisa?

I was too much of an autist to go out on dates. I kind of wish I had met girls who liked cartoons. Most of the kids my age that liked cartoons were dudes and girls in my class only saw shit like Celebrity Deathmatch and Daria because it was dubbed on our MTV.

Pretty sure that was when Locomotion became Animax. Sure, we had it good for a while, but the the live action shit came and just like that the channel was dead.

>Me estás decepcionando, hombre!
I was looking for the Creepy Crawlers one but can't find it. It had the most inept and hilarious attempt at rapping I've ever heard. I remember even as kids we laughed our asses off at that opening.
Moslty, tho I don't know if all the chapters are there
Is Little Witch Academia any good in the Spanish dub? The only Netflix dub that I saw was Aggretsuko. The English dub changed the Death Metal vocals (they are better), but the other dubs left them, and I wanted to hear the original growls.
Rurouni Kenshin was dubbed in Chile too?...or was it venezuela?
>There are latino anons that didn't live the pokemon hype at its peak.
I pity those that didn't experience it. I don't think there's ever going to be something like it again
>I think in my country the dubs that arrived were from Chile, not really sure
Depends on what show it was. From the top of my head I remember Avatar The Last Aribender was mostly chilean dubbing with some help from other countries, I believe.
As for anime I remember You're Under Arrest, Tenchi Muyo, Sorcerer Stabber Orphen, amongst others.
Back in the 90s they tended to dub a lot of weird shit specially on anime and we always get some strange picks.
>That sounds like the worst timeline possible user. I fell you.
I know this is more of a Yea Forums territory subject, but the worst part is that Turkish Dramas aren't even that popular anymore, but are super cheap to import so they keep trying to cram them down people's throats.
Doesn't help Chilean TV as a whole has gone down to the shitter in general, specially after they found a special formula to make the most blandest, generic, samey and executive board-directed soap operas of all time that people just consume endlessly.
Venezuela. I remember that because the voice of Kenshin was the same as the dub of the ol' Underdog cartoons.
They are all over the place. Viacom hate their shit on YouTube. They come down hard with uploads, even the foreign kind.
Ren & Simpy Latin dub was way better than the original

I must say that the ending wasan't as good as the opening
They needed a lucha spin off more than the space cadets one.
I think Digimon and other animes had a url in their endings with .cl at the end, which a cousin of mine told me was from Chile. Of course internet was in diapers here so I didn't know at the time
>Grumo y Migajón
As great as that opening is, I can't no longer enjoy it because I keep thinking of that video where they seamlessly pair the opening to Luis Miguel
What a hit on the feelings, i miss dubbed OP's
Born in 1979. I had a job and was studying by the time the whole monster mania went full top gear.
I SPENT A LOT OF MORLACOS ON ALL OF THAT SHIT.
It could be. The 90s was a weird-ass time in south america where a fuck ton of anime was up for grabs for multiple countries to dub, so everything seems so mixed together.
>mfw I remember they used to air uncensored Tenchi Muyo and Ranma 1/2 on kids channels without a single care
I remember watching this on CN past midnight.
I believe the opening was never dubbed and it couldn't have been a better idea since the original it's absolutest kino
youtube.com
I regret not watching Slam Dunk. It aired on the local channel, but I was too much of a fag to follow dudes playing basket. The only thing Kuroko no Basket does better is having the cute dog character.
>The constant schools of thought about which one was the best.
>Seeing the episode where Tai leaves the digiworld for the first time and realize only like a couple of hours (or something) have passed.
I remember calling a friend of mine on the phone at that time and we both saw them with the phone stuck to our ears
Yu Yu Hakusho was more popular with hue. They are big autists for the show, which only rival how much the Pinoys worship it and Slam Dunk in their land.
While I know it's a simple mistake cause the EDs was also kino, not posting the god-tier OPs is something that I cannot abide.

OLE!
Sailor Moon's ED song has been stuck in my head ever since. It is so campy, yet very easy to sing along the lyrics.
>The streams with /ñ/ and Yea Forums anons are the best
I need to live one of those. Is that in twitch?
It was already posted
Good luck with that. The only thing that I have been able to find ripped are idents. Most user did not tape the dubs besides Drawn Together. I have not found Daria, Beavis & Butt-head (Mexican voices), or Celebrity Deathmatch.
I can't beleive how shitty and cheap the DB gt op's and ed's got translated...zero effort, zero spirit..
That doesn't sound that bad, It fits, actually.
Si la tubiera te diria manito :/
I only remember the intro of Sailor Moon (OBVIOUSLY). Forgot this comfy ending.
Gracias my dude
It used to be a long time ago. I have not found any anons who would like to have /ñ/ streams ever since Hispachan died. I could try asking with /trash/ but they are mostly for the otakus. I prefer Yea Forums series.
>tfw Yea Forums is so bad that this is the best thread right now
Throwing my own old underrated ED bop
As shitty as DB Super was, seeing everyone in my city loosing their shit over the last arc was strangely nostalgic.
I never understood why (FOR YEARS) we had to tolerate that ugly ass Saint Seiya spanish made-up opening when these jewels already existed:
I would say around the time we banned /mlp/, kept Toonami threads, but got rid of generals for shows that are not aired with recent episodes. Yea Forums would prefer Live Action threads than to talk about Yea Forums shows like The Loud House or We Bare Bears (shit quality aside). I would ban all live action shit from here, which only brings Yea Forums trolls. Give super heroes and capes their own board like /m/. You can still post mecha in other boards, but you can keep the live action spam down by giving you a place to talk about cape movies and series outside Yea Forums and Yea Forums like /m/ did for Yea Forums.
>xdvideos
>no more Jiren kino
Feels bad, man.
When the movie la batalla de los dioses (or whatever) arrived in theater here it was an autismopalooza. There were images and videos of anons standing in the theater and rising their hands for the genkidama.
I admit it pains me not seeing that retardation in the theaters myself
user, are you talking about that weird one that started like "los guardianes del universo, van a triunfar sobre el mal" or something like that?
Because if you're talking about that one, we're on the SAME BOAT. In that time when the Hades saga appeared and the internet here was taking shape, finding the other latino intros was like finding some kind of lost treasure lost in a jungle. It was so bizarre
>mfw a pub near my house literally had Boxing Match-styled posters of Goku vs Jiren and were doing special sales to go watch the midnight airing of the last ep there.
That scream sounds so natural.

And to think those retard americans have a shard of nostalgia to the butchering they did to Card Captor Sakura in the for of Card Captors
It makes me sick what they did to the show.

I'll never forget how on one anime-con that was made here they brought for the first time the guy that sang the first digimon intro to perform.
Not lying, when the music started EVERYONE, from the security, to the people selling food, to the janitors, EVERYONE dropped everything and went to the salon to sing the fucking song. I have never felt something like that before, not even in music concerts. It was crazy how that song resonated with everyone regardless of age, job, status, etc...
Regardless to say, everyone was an emotional wreck when it ended
I can't help you with that one user
>mfw I still have a Clow book with all the cards inside that was sold at a toystore when I was little.

I know for a lot of people that was Sailor Moon but I was and still am a lazy person who wakes up way too late in the morning, so I always used to miss it.
I love the Spaniard opening. That is the one older viewers grew up with and the one the VHS tapes had. Saint Seiya was
the only anime series in the '90s where you could own the whole series dubbed in Latin American Spanish. Bless those fags from Wonder Video, they sold over 20 volumes with four episodes per tape. Did anyone in the '90s try doing that for other series (anime or not)?

The "best" edit is how they tried to make Syaoran the main character in their dub. The main character of a show that had a girl's name in the original title, no less.

Americans think their awful DBZ dub with Superman Goku is better than the original. They have the worst taste.

Here DBZ is like a religion still my dude. You can be ashammed of other animes, but not DBZ

My heart sank when I tried to watch Digimon past Frontier and they had those shitty-ass added humor the americas were used to.
>It was like Yea Forums or Yea Forums but without the shitty hate everywhere
it's called real life. Moving to the internet was a mistake in the long run. I can't comprehend how children are growing on this day and age with an ipad connected to the internet since they're able to read
The last digimon decent was frontier, so no lost, heh.
examples about that shitt ass humor?

Actually, it sounds like sung by a bunch of 40 year old wenches that do backing vocals for a shitty biker club band.
DB is the rare anime where I can literally cannot stand it's original anime voices.
Screeching woman Goku should have never been a thing. meanwhile we got the greatest version of his voice: perfect balance between serious, carefree and loud when it needs to.

The amount of good memories this ending brings me is insane.
I legit wanna go out and hug someone
Modern TV would lose their shit at something like Renfan
>me iba en autistic breakdown y tarareaba como estúpido
No puedo parar de reir.
>También recuerdo que me encerraba en mi cuarto a la hora de ver Digimon y Sakura para que no me vean llorar
Lamento eso user, no deberias avergonzarte de algo tan epico como esas dos joyas en el apogeo de tu infancia.
Te quiero user =)
>born too late to enjoy Candy candy on the TV watching a new episode every week
>only hopes lefts are those odd culture channels having a small chance to have a random out of order episode
It hurts.
I used to write lewd digimon fanfics
The first Spanish Underdog dub was from Mexico

>I can't stand voice acting in Japanese
Wew, I thought I was the only one.
Maybe because you watched the dubs before the original version in japanese. The same happens to me, I can't stand DB, digimon or Sakura in original japanese voice acting.
the Kira version is better

90s latino TV had such weird ass obscure picks for anime. Dubbing something as obscure as Zenki would have never happened in burgerland
>NELVANA
MÁTALO CON FUEGO
The more anime and vidya you hear, the more the voices start to sound too alike. You would think a country with a voice acting industry that big would diversify.
My mother always bullies me because she saw Candy Candy because, according to her, was the best of the best.
Latinos and anime man...
Strangely I can deal with Sakura and Digimon in JP no problem. it's DB the only one different, because that screechy old woman voice coming from someone like Goku makes no sense to me.
>weird ass obscure picks for anime.
Why was that? Was it because Japan send anime by crates to latin america and it was a blind pick while looking at a literal pile of VHS?
>Spanish: Cool guy and dad voice
>Japanese: Old schreetching old lady voice
Why
Basically. They used to buy their shit directly from japan in bulks so they ended up translating some weird ass shit. while not all of them were winners, it did lead me to watch a lot of sows I would have never known about under other circumstances.
The mere idea that, even as a kid, a fucking police slice of life anime became one of my favorite things baffles me to this day.
>You would think a country with a voice acting industry that big would diversify.
Oh man shame best VA barely gets any role in modern animes, she and the singer from Rozen maiden too.
>Ya está viejo Megatron, te destruiré y venderé como chatarra.
Did you watch Patlabor? I want a huge crossover between them.
I dunno but chileanfag here, it did lead to a lot of weird shit ending in channels like ETCTV and even Cartoon Network.
Anyone remember Hell Teacher Nube or Corrector Yui?
Latin Mothers and anime are a delicate issue. I had my ass spanked once cuz I made fun of Meteoro and La Princesa Caballero
I found some Argentinian Beavis and Butt-Head’s:

Patlabor was such a great show, dude. But glad to see someone else talking about You're Under Arrest, its such a cherished show for me.
For me is arbegas my dude
Canten, mierdas.
I'm like 90% sure my first fap with hentai was with Corrector Yui. I get very confusing boners when I think about that anime
>Some time ago, national tv channel has a huge empty slot in schedule.
>Decide to be lazy fuck and fill it in by re-airing Heidi
>my mom glued to the screen following it every single day.
That was such a weird experience
Mindblown. I had no idea they had their own version. I grew up with the Mexican voices. They were ok, it got MTV to put the series in day hours. Before the dub, they would only air Beavis & Butt-head after 12 AM with the subtitles.
>japanese opening starts

I have a tia that, while on their house, I spoke briefly about the Astro Boy GBA game and she just JUMPED in the conversation with me and my cousins, speaking about Astro Boy as if it was a memento of an extinct civilization for like an hour. It blew my mind given how she grew up in a literal farm in a tiny island.
Anime finds a way man...
Yea Forums es un lugar divertido.
I know a lot of people were against the mexicanisms but I always felt the original dubbing of AT was way better since it at elast felt like the VAs were having a blast.
Later AT seasons everyone sounded like the life was drained from them. It was horrible.
WTF is that!? Feels like bizarroland
>MFW La Biblioteca Nacional,La Biblioteca del Congreso de la Nación and the general archives from the public tv channel Canal 7 in Argentina have one of the biggest viedo archives of translated anime from the 60's through 90's
>All you need to access it is a free to make membership certificate
They really fucked the dub by changing Jake's original voice.
>Dad watched mazinger z and thundercats despite living in a literal farm
I cant fucking breath holy shit
Nah, I couldn't stand José Arenas mexican slang. Actually, the fact that they changed his voice was the reason I started following AT in the first place.
Eres un marica, Eddy.
>People throwing them nostalgic latino anime dub OPs/EDs
I'm throwing my hat in, I guess. Anyone remember Orphen? These openings were god tier
youtube.com
ESTOY MALITO, TÍO
I still remember that day user. My mother laughed SO MUCH at me for crying all day because of it.
>The last seconds of that video
Men are allowed to cry there damn it!
Too bad everyone else fucking turned into fucking shit tho.
Holy shit user, really?! That sound like something that should exist in japan only
Before learning that Digimon Tri was shit, my one sorrow was the fact we wouldn't get a new version of the latino opening with it.
Si
I grew up with the first seasons, so it is hard for me to judge. Fox quit changing their names in the newer seasons. The dub is good given how much gets lost if you don't localize King of the Hill.
Oh god what a beautiful time, those threads makes me so fucking sad
Grasias
Sip!
>user no entendió la referencia

globalism is fucking cancer
I didn't ask to feel this way tonight, user. But here we are
Just like multi culturalism.
>procesando...
Dang it mi mente no funciona bien en la madrugada
We argentinians motherfucking love our tv shows, and if it was aired somehwere, somewhen, inside our borders, it goes right to the archives...no exceptions.
Not going to lie user, those words filled me with a weird sense of pride and energy for you, more so considering you country is HUGE.
Can some tell me when this was aired?, Televisa?, Tvazteca?, imevision?, Locomotion?
>Campamento de Ver Anos
I was curious if they translated hedgehog literally and they did.
Was that a good idea? Some names in our dubs are left as is because they are dumb if left translated. "Erizo" just works.
>mfw they are actually remaking the anime but none of my gringo friends care
The same happened with me, except it was Candy Candy and Remi.
>coma perfecto idiota, CIERRA LA BOCA!!
Hedgehog's twist can only make people think about Sonic the Werehog. I should ask Julia if they were really going for that one. It is the only thing I know with both werewolf and hedgehog being used for the story.
This is bullshit and you know it. The amount of classic movies and tv that was destroyed is far superior than what was saved. People never gave a shit about archiving anything until recent years, and they even taped over classic TV shows.
can we go back to songs please?
i'll never forget the days where toy story was on a timeblock pretty much every day.
youtu.be
it was beautiful
Post dubbed feelings.
Voy a patearte el trasero, laranon.
Jajaja, buena esa plano
Are you sure? We were traumatized by the likes of Hutch the Honeybee (Jose Miel).
I should go back and rewatch adventure, it's been too long since i did so.
This shit right here is literally the best example of why Latin dubs are the best. Holy shit, I wish I could buy or find good rips of this series as I refuse to watch it in English. Shits that good.
>Yo onions Escarabuuuus, escarabajo autobuuus

I know it was still done similarly in the english version but.

unless you were born post 2005 you got to experience it full force.
because networks just loved to rerun everything, there was a shit ton of leverage.
Do you remember those entire blocks that were just full of both new and old anime? i remember watching TV just to get to those blocks.
Hmn..no creo.
youtu.be
Lots of Americans are closet Hamtaro fans because they put it on Toonami. If they can admit it, so can anyone else.
The European Spanish version...

...was literally this:

A mi me encantaba, Hamtaro era comfy y divertido a la vez.
Before globalization make us feel afraid of nudity, gays, foreigners, or even skin color
I hate these feelings I'm feelin' right now.
You should, i did it like 2 years ago and got some things that i didn't as a kid. Genuinely good
Waking up early to see this and the Popolocrois one
Well i mean, people have no shame admitting they watched ranma 1/2 or sakura card captor.
based word filter fucking up other languages
Why would anyone feel shame about Ranma 1/2? It is shonen and it has tits. Inuyasha on the other hand was treated
as a girly show due to how many vocal fans were female despite being shonen.

My first love is the Opening of Sailor Moon, now she is married with two kids...
My second love is the ending of Sailor Moon, she send me to the friend zone and since 2016 she didn't talk to me...

I tried watching it but I was just and edgy teenager that only cared for dbz, pokemon, digimon, caballeros del zodiaco and zatch bell
Did you miss Hispachan? It was around for a while then it died. People fled and made a Hispa board at 8 chan. I heard Hispachan later came back but I never checked with the url.
Which is odd since ranma was kinda more girly, and well old habits die hard, out of all the shonens of the era ranma and yu yu hakusho came under fire by you know who's
also inuyasha had pure beauty as openings.
youtu.be
>no sabe.
inocente criatura
I bet you watched super cerdita too fag
Everyone watched all the Fox Kids era animu. I swear Samurai Pizza Cats and Digimon is why I grew to be a furfag.
>Hispachan
¿Ya quitaron a hispa del filtro? Wew.
Sound kino amigo, where you come from?
that's kinda want i wnted to do, seems people were less edgy than what i though.
>zatch bell
amazing taste, shame we didn't get the actual JP ver.
Being present for it's death and rebirth was actually magical.
too bad it lasted so little before going to shit again.
at least the toku threads were something good to come out of the entire disaster.
it exists, explaining what it went through is kinda long, and messy.
don't expect much though, not nearly as fast as this place.
it does have the baggage you'll expect though.
