Doomsday was only out of his confines just before the "Death of Superman" thing, which as a good 2 or 3 decades AFTER Krypton blew up.

It's a pretty based show. I thought it would be terrible since it's a Supes show without Supes, but I watched the whole first season on the plane to and from Hawaii and it was great.

Premise is Superman's grandfather Seg-El, and the House of El, are stripped of their rank and place in Krypton society, due to the machinations of the Vex family. Seg's own grandfather theorises about alien life and detects the coming of Brainiac, but the Vexes and Krypton government consider him crazy and banish him. Meanwhile, Seg meets Adam Strange, who has travelled back in time because he believes that someone else is interfering in the past, which in his present is causing Superman to disappear (this is revealed to be Zod).

It all moves at a relatively decent pace with a lot of Superman lore mixed in, with elements from all the adaptations. Black Zod is also pretty based

I haven't watched that in its entirety, so I haven't seen the relevant Krypton parts. But there's a mish-mash of Donner, Snyder and elements from various runs, even Brainiac seems similar to his Injustice incarnation. Seg has his own fortress of solitude, with his own Jor-El style hologram. There's a Black Mercy present there too, but they haven't used it yet. There's even visual references to the Supergirl movie.
