Hello all, been a while since I've done this, but I bring you a new storytime of a freshly scanlated European comic.
This one's a fairly long one, Ces jours qui disparaissent, which is about a young guy who starts sharing his body with another personality, at first it's just alternating days, then the other personality starts taking over for longer and longer, and who knows how many days he has left...
As always, please let me know what you think, and any corrections or suggestions are very much welcome.
After a long break, I think I might be getting back into Euro scanlations. 3 series I started have had their final volumes released. Triosieme Testament - Julius, Soleil Froid (Cold Sun) and Choc (Shock). I'm thinking of tackling Julius and then Soleil Froid, then Choc, but might be swayed if there's more interest for other books.
I enjoyed it, but it was kinda heartbreaking. All his friends lose him over and over again, they don't even know if he's coming back or not. I guess he gets a kinda happy ending in his VR world, but that's it. The (maybe?) 'real' him seems to lead much more of a soulless life, but I guess he has his friends and son too.

Bump for based euroshit

Waitin' patiently for the rest. This story's great
Adrian Garcia
That's it, my man.
Daniel Perry
Hell yeah, glad you're back
Ian Powell
I really enjoyed it until the other personality took over. I liked the back and forth between them and when his absence got longer it felt like he came back only to be cucked. It took tention away and gave way to resignation.
But thank you for sharing!
Asher Kelly
It did annoy me, but I felt like that was the only way it could go. The back and forth would have got dull, one side had to win, and I liked the ambiguity more than a happily ever after ending.
When he discovered the hypnotist the story could have changed to him getting his life back by discovering the technique to invert it. That would be the obvious change to a "happy end". But I don't know if it would have been an improvement. On the other hand; the VR ending didn't have the impact it should have had because I was tired of everything getting worse all the time. I guess I will appreciate it more over time when I'm not that invested in one side anymore.

The other guy has good taste. And I like how we never see him directly.
Hudson Thompson
Can't say I like how it ended For me it just cemented the fact that the amoral business man won out by pulling all the dirty tricks they could think of to completely take over the "power" of a life he straight up stole, and get away with it to 100%. Something which is all too common IRL. It left me with a bad taste since I can literally just stick my head out and see this shit play out every day.
Zachary Carter
Thank you for the story time and the translation. I agree with you. It's a bittersweet ending but at least it was a nice one. It was certainly a haunting tale, I feel like I'll be thinking about it for a while. I hope the author makes a sequel through the eyes of the 'true' personality. Are you going to upload this somewhere in a pdf?
Easton Myers
I feel even worse for his friends, girlfriend, and his family. These two pages killed me.
Caleb Bell
Who says he was immoral? Couldn't he really have been the primary personality like the shrink said?
But even if that was true, did the 'made-up' personality deserve to be erased, was it a separate life? What about his friends and family and the damage it did to them? Leandre seemed pretty messed up by it all.
I'll put it up as a cbr in the win'o probably next week, after everyone's had time to give me notes.
The author's next work is: The Patient.
>The police arrest a young girl found wandering in the street, covered in blood, a knife in her hand. On the way to her home, the officers are horrified to discover the scene of a massacre: her whole family has been murdered ... Six years later, Pierre Grimaud, the only survivor of the "Rue des Corneilles massacre", wakes up from a deep coma. The 15-year-old teenager he was at the time of the incident has now become a 21-year-old man. Disoriented, still paralyzed and suffering from partial amnesia, he is supported by Dr. Anna Kieffer, a psychologist specialising in criminology and victimology issues. During their sessions, Anna tries to get him to remember the circumstances of the incident, despite his memory loss. Pierre mentions the mysterious presence of a "man in black" who haunts his dreams, probably an unconscious response to his trauma. After several sessions, Anna discovers in Pierre a sensitive and very intelligent person. Touched by his story, she even begins to feel affection for him. Little by little, a real bond develops between them. Anna cannot imagine how this patient will change her life ...
I'm not too enticed by it, desu. Might read some more reviews though.

Jesus, that was really sad. Really good too though. Thanks for posting.

Fuuuuuuuuuck why does the other guy get to win, this is heartbreaking.
It's the vibe I got by how the "secondary" personality only stayed friendly and compromised up until the moment he found a way to slowly assume total control. that while also working himself up to become a rich and renown businessman, you do not climb that high without a complete disregard for your fellow man and taking any advantage you can, no matter the cost. also shown by the fact he repeatedly sabotaged the primary personality's chance at hitting it big with his troupe
The shrink struck me also as the kind of garbage person who see no worth in "outsiders" who don't fit into the cubicle of chasing a stiff career and becoming successful, reinforcing how only the social "elite" are allowed to exist while everyone else that are below them should literally be erased from existence if possible
I guess it really got to me because I see the same attitude being incredibly common among the ruling elite in my country
Liam Williams
I...I have something in my eye. Fuck.
Justin Murphy
Aside from that, does the ending imply he'll live a full simulation of his last days in the VR helmet and when he finally dies, the "real" him can live the last of his days like he wants?
Always wondered what it'd be like to have a second personality, but now I'm hella glad I don't...
Julian Collins
that was kind of a shitty story with a Miazaki-ish mediocre art. Not my cup of tea
Charles Hughes
See a doctor, man! Healthcare is free in your country!

If you're still here, OP... First of all, thanks for the hard work. Second; on page 158 you put on the very first sentence a "you're" that should be "your".
Cheers, user

Shitty because you didn't like it or poorly told?

Jaxon Diaz
Every single french comic I've ever seen story timed here all have these depressing as fuck endings. There was that one where he follows the girl into the dragon world, and the miss-dont-touch-me. What the hell goes on in that country? What the fuck is the point of these stories?
Now you see why Euros laugh at the generic Hollywood happy endings. We're used to suffering.
Blake Gomez
thanks man fuck the amerishit
Evan Hernandez
>did the 'made-up' personality deserve to be erased
They had an agreement to tolerate each other until the second personality took steps to take over through they hypnosis therapy.
Wyatt Murphy
lol this cunt either got his sperm or convinced the other personality to sleep with him.
also, the fact that the second personality actyally cared for lubin's adoptive mom suggests that he was in fact the original personality and only SHE would probably be aware of it, and that's why she accepted all of his charity despite them being i guess decently middle class.
>second personality being the key to a gf How come I never thought about this. Brb hitting me head.
Isaiah Hill
Well, if you ever need a kick in the ass to not waste your days, this is it.
What a lovely story about the dangers of procrastination and the feeling of how time flies.
Thank you, storytimer.
Landon Martin
An amazing read. Thank you for storytiming it.

It's a shame because the comic is nice but I find this stuff too obnoxious
Jose Thomas
Just wanted to say that "losing control" like that is a big fear of me and I definitely would not want to end up in a situation like this.

What, fat people existing? Oh no, the horror.

Well... yeah? Why do fat people even exist? It's not like with short people who can't help it.

Take it up with reality, not this book.
Jayden Murphy
Bump to keep the thread itself from disappearing for a while longer.
Parker Jackson
Oh just fuck already.
Josiah Anderson
This entire comic is just hilarious. It's wonderful, thanks for the storytime OP.
Michael Price
The main character was too passive and it lead to his downfall.
Easton Walker
Like seriously. He finds out he's sleeping through entire days. Normal person would be like, hey maybe I ought to see a doctor? Nope, put it off for days until your girlfriend finds out your other personality been trying to communicate with you.
Learn that your psychologist is a piece of shit who's only using you for a story? Maybe go find a new psychologist/doctor? Nope, do nothing.
Other personality has started to cut off comminication with you and conviently around that time you're beginning to lose multiple days around that time? Most would think, "Oh, maybe I should get someone to look into his activities and see if he's doing some shady shit?" Still do nothing.
By the time he stopped being passive it was faaaarrr late. By the time he actually started to
Liam Cruz
I kinda liked this, it's what a lot of people do. Realise your job is fucking draining your life and leaving you no free time, do you develop yourself and find something better? Nah, you bitch about it constantly but don't actually do anything.
Henry Lee
I do think the other personality was planning on finding a way to take over pretty early on which is why he did shit to pacify him, like giving him money or fucking up his relationships to test his reaction.
I do think had he found an actual doctor to monitor him early willing to actually help on he'd be able to at least have someone there to confirm that he was indeed the original personality.
Thomas Wright
Hmm I guess the story can be read as someone growing up. Leaving immature dreams behind while finding a way to get back to the childish mindset to spend time with old friends (and even fuck a former lover). In the end when he is free from responsabilities he becomes his young self again. I guess that's the reason he hardly fights against it. It is another part of him and a necessary step in the right direction even though his artsy friends and family don't like it.
Gavin Gonzalez
thank you for posting OP
Grayson Brown
you got a pdf or folder of this?
Carter Sanders
It being a metaphor for the character growing up and having small relapses from time to time is the only way I can understand why his friends and family seemed okay with his 'original' slowly fading away. Although it could be fear that pushing the other personality too far could lead to him cutting them off completely.
Cameron Gray
I just reread Beauty for the millionth time
Easton Myers
I'll put it up as a cbr in the win'o probably next week, after everyone's had time to give me notes.
Dylan Mitchell
which one is that?
Nolan Jones
The one with the woman who's cursed to be irresistible to men and loses her love and gets raped and shit.
John Evans
fucking frenchies
Hudson Rogers
damn this is a cool ass book
Robert Evans
Damn, that was a hell of a story. The scifi elements were nice and downplayed, even though the overall story's tragic.
It would have been nice to see a twist that wasn't "you're actually the parasite" though.
