A rushed story that I didn't actually need to read, featuring the pointless demise of every character I cared even a little about.
All of human endeavor comes to living in center-of-the-Earth weebland, without a single planetary colony, because only Frogmen are allowed to do cool shit like that.
A tour de force. Easily the juiciest comic of the decade.
Absolutely KINO ending. Anyone who disagrees probably loves Hellboy (2019)
I liked the way it ended because it ended exactly the way it was told it was going to end in the beginning. The moral of this entire story is that you cannot change your destiny. You can fight it or postpone it but things will always end the way they were supposed to.
Shit
>Why did the Hyborians stay underground?
>they could have easily taken back the surface from the hairless monkeys
Humanity became the new Hyborians, it's less logical and more symbolic/mystical.
The shitposting on this comic didn't start till the movie sucked
Pretty good ending. Far from perfect and the lead up to it was pretty mediocre but Mignola was able to salvage what I thought was going to be a disaster of an ending.
Yeah, a lot of people in the Hellboy threads were saying TDYK wasn't that good for a while now but something about the mediocre movie attracted the autists like flies to shit.
A mediocre 7/10 comic arc for a largely 9/10 series(BPRD) in a fantastic creative universe
DYK was such garbage, Campbell's art was somehow all worse than his stuff in Hell on Earth, the writing was worse, it was all compressed to fit into 3 trades or 1 omnibus, it read and felt like Mignola knew the end and was rushing to it, which seems likely given his propensity for burning out hard. Just seems like he said "I'm close to the end so let's run this shit"
At least those last mignola pages were all amazing and I'm happy life continues in the mignolaverse regardless.
Anyone who talks shit about how the frogs inherit the earth are smallbrained and didnt understand the Abe Sapien series
Basically this. The final issue was fine, but the lead up to it was utter garbage. It's a real shame, but I will give Mike credit for this issue, as it was good to see him draw again.
Dragon dead, Osiris club dead, Darkness (Ereshkigal) don't show her in last chapter. Fucking sad. Ending (new world and frogs) is too featureless for me.
Who the fuck is Ereshkigal and why do I keep seeing that name pop up in Hellboy threads now?
>not 666x666
If you're gonna use my template, use it right.
It's the darkness that infected the Ogdru Jahad the moment they were made.
Seemingly an evil to God's good. It's been mentioned twice. Some people in the Mignolverse storytime LARPed as writers or editors and were convinced it would be the big bad.
I think it's more like Wheel of Time, where the ultimate e il can never be killed, but its agents can be destroyed.
If it's supposed to be the opposite of God why do people think it would end up as the final boss if God barely showed up in the series either?
Like I said, they were LARPing. They were acting like they KNEW what would happen based on hardly any actual details. A lot of the anger at the ending is based on people not getting a chicken sandwich when they show up to a hot dog stand.
I still haven't read my BPRD and Hellboy In Hell issues since I had to suddenly move around that time when that was coming out and still haven't dug them out to read.
For a comic story 25 years and roughly 350 issues in the making, it's incredible and there's never been anything like it. Yes I wanted the prophecies subverted or twisted more than they were. Yes Devil You Know really needed to be much longer with more arcs given proper ends and details expounded upon. But the end is exactly right. I just wish it had a bit more of an epilogue.
And it seems Mignola may move ahead and do that.
I don't make shit, I just save shit other people made like a lazy fuck.
In a sense I envy you. I think things will gel a lot better if read all at once.
I was hoping that some part of the dragon would survive.
It was okay. Felt like it should have been a longer issue.
Guys when can I read the last issue ??
Any link ??
neither centipedes nor millipedes are accurately named and this must have been abundantly clear from the start
retaining the names is simply giving in to inertia; there is nothing wrong with calling them by another name other than the break with tradition
I liked it, bit with Liz was absolutely fantastic and it's nice for once a series to not try and go for the "ha, we told you this was how it was gonna end but we tricked ya" bit.
