Faye has more character than Claire. Claire is just "the trans one who works at the library". You have it backwards. Claire is the one who could be written out with fewer consequences. For better or worse, Faye is actually ingrained into the universe. Since the trappening, which is going on five years ago, Claire interacts almost exclusively with just Marten and Clinton.

Someone said on here most librarian work these days is cataloging new items rather than stocking shelves. Though, the same user claimed that a rather obvious candidate for automation would require a system that cost literally trillions of dollars so I don't know if that user can be trusted.

She’s been in college since her introduction, probably living on her mother’s money (this part is likely based on the author’s own experience with college, because his family was well off). She just took her final exam, so, if she passed it, she’s done with college and she needs to get a job now, preferably in her field. So unless there’s a position open to her nearby she might move.

This comic is uncanny to me because I know a chick who was a graduated a library major who moved to the same fucking town, failed to be able to afford it, and now lives in Hawaii of all places with her boyfriend or something.

Oh yeah, I looked into a library career a while back. It requires a post-graduate program to actually be a librarian. Positions are ridiculously scarce and super-competitive. The only way to get a librarian job is to move five states away from wherever you are, and that job is unlikely to pay well.
