Looks about what you'd expect Scooby to look like.
youtube.com
reel fx is animating the movie and their Looney Tunes shorts looked amazing.
That's soulless CGI for you
That being said if it's animated like this it'll be in the top percentile of Scooby Content.
Damn someone is finally getting it right this year.
It looks like 2d
Why is this 3d
Isn't it harder to make a program create a 3d model to make it look 2d than to just start out 2d
>soulless
Can't wait for "people" to move onto the next meme buzzword
Yep. That's Scooby.
Yeah sure whatever now show Captain Caveman, Dynomutt, and Dick Dastardly
Because hollywood is a fucking joke.
What do you want it to be described as? Cookie cutter? Assemblyline? Disney/Pixar derivative?
No and 2D movies don't sell anymore, it's not 1995. Warner stopped actually blamed Osmosis Jones' 2D animation for it failing.
Kids want CGI movies and I don't even think large scale 2D animation for theatrical movies even exist anymore in the US
Execs think 2D animated movies flop, which isn't technically wrong
Try coming up with your own thoughts instead of trying so hard to impress the cool kids
The animation on this was always great, but holy fuck, that texture work was bad even back when it was being made.
Wish you’d actually post a decent image, but this looks great, although I have no idea how it’ll look in motion.
Wait are you asking him to be contrarian or not contrarian
Back to the grind, kiddo
this render looks great all except for that disgusting bottom lip
Self fulfilling prophecy.
Oh god i didnt notice and now i cant fucking unsee it
>12 year old literally has no argument
How about the hair on his chin? Is his brown fur actually skin?
Look in a mirror, buddy. You've not presented even an opposing viewpoint, just semantic arguments and personal attacks.
Well, it was coming off bombs like Quest of Camelot and and the Iron Giant, so their patients with animation was already thin. Plus Mask of Phantasma a few years back was also a bomb. Looney Tunes Back in Action was what caused them to close WB Animation entirely.
It also doesn't help that WB was fucking horrible at marketing their cartoons. Cats Don't Dance, they didn't even try to market that, Iron Giant made it look like a totally different movie,
>a Looney Tunes movie killed theatrical 2D animation from Warner Bros
That's just too fucked up and ironic.
>Yea Forums scrubs meme.jpg
This + oversaturation of shitty DTV movies like Disney sequels and lower quality productions made consumers associate 2D with shit.
Those aren’t comparable examples. The stories about WB higher-ups trying to sabotage the box office potential for Iron Giant and Mask of Phantasm, let alone other stuff like Cats Don’t Dance, are so well known here I’m not even going to repeat them.
They do appear to be trying way harder with their animation than they did in the 90s. I don't know how this Hannah Barbera cinematic universe will work because no many HB cartoons are either redundant or don't fit in the same style, but I'm interested
For sure, the first lego was a welcome change. I think cinematic universes I’m general are stale, I can’t think of a successful one outside of MCU, despite it spawning countless attempts. Remember King Arthur? Robin Hood? Dark Universe? Even DC is distancing from that formula.
t.b.h., it's not like Disney was at their strongest in the 2000s. Their animated movies either underperformed, were complete trash or both, and their live action output was no better. To say nothing about California Adventure.
My Little Pony and Teen Titans Go had theatrical releases a few years ago but Yea Forums was too prideful to go support the only 2D films in years.
Puppetrig animation is just flat CG.
It's always been part of his design.
Thats Scooby Doo, all right.
More than you can say for Movie Sonic.
Black lines represent anything if they're thin
They're fucking chin whiskers
Literally every dog has them
I bet you don't even have a dog, EVERY dog has those chin hairs.
Is Scooby the Mario of the cartoon world?
Is he ever going to die?
user, Yea Forums has been my home board for years. I see like 4 or 5 films a year, many in theatres, which are 2D animation. Through the indie and film festival circuits, I see several of these movies in theatres every year, many of which are for adults. For the record I also saw TTG in theatres. There are people on this board that do support 2D animation, and go out of their ways to see it strive. Why in the ever loving fuck would I see a shitty my little pony movie in a theatre full of little girls and /mlp/ posters? I have too much pride? You bet your ass I do. To paraphrase Ruber, I watch all of my Yea Forums-related media... with pride. Get out of here with that attitude, lots of people on Yea Forums support the medium, and there are infinitely better ways of doing so than by forcing yourself to see things that are clear cashgrabs. Hell, a cool-looking 2D movie called Tito and the Birds is coming out online next week. If you want to support 2D animation so much, support something like that, not MLP.
It warms my heart that after all these years the mere mention of ponies is still enough to make a sperg ramble.
Pony movie was kino, by the by.
really hope there's no dated stuff when this airs on theatres
I do want to support 2D films, but not those. Not only do I not care for either of those shows, but they both looked like fucking TV movies someone had the balls to throw into theaters. It's like the Doug movie or the Hey Arnold movie, I hate that shit.
Kind of impresses me those movies actually earned a little money instead of being massive failures like most post 90s 2D movies. Seriously, why do people hate 2D?
This guy presents a nice theory.
youtube.com
>looked like fucking TV movies
Yeah but the backgrounds were pretty good
Did you even read my post? I’m glad you thought it was “kino”, but you’re literally beyond the pleb and proud stereotype.
Meant for

>Scooby-Doo is the hero of his own story in "SCOOB!," the first full-length, theatrical animated Scooby-Doo adventure, which reveals how he and his best friend Shaggy became two of the world's most beloved crime busters. The story takes us back to where it all began, when a young Scooby and Shaggy first meet, and team up with Daphne, Velma and Fred to launch Mystery Incorporated.
>calls other plebs but won't see a movie because he doesn't want normies to think he's girly and misses out on genuinely good animation
I suppose you skipped out on too because it wasn't macho enough for you.
Ruber's plan wouldn't include you.
Did you watch Dragon Ball Super Broly?
Powerpuff Girls is literally my favorite cartoon of all time. I’m ok with watching stuff intended for younger audiences as long as it’s not so childish it’s talking down to me. I’m only objecting to one, single film you are so eager to defend. You don’t need to convince me mlp is “badass” or whatever either. Trust me, I was into season 1 before you even knew what Yea Forums was. There’s no way I can take you seriously by saying the mlp movie has “amazing” animation. If your only comparison is the show maybe. (desu the TTG movie shocked me with how the animation quality was barely above the actual show, it was like a cinematic shitpost).
Was PPG Hanna-Barbara?
>eager to defend
I'm not so much defending the movie as much as calling you out for acting like an animation connoisseur while calling others plebs when you've demonstrated nothing but the opposite so far. And now you're pulling out the oldfag card in desperation. What happened to that pride of yours?
Yep, for the first three seasons.
Yes. All the original Cartoon Cartoon Fridays shows were HB
The show started out as such, like other early Cartoon Network shows. Movie was done in house at CN Studios just like the episodes.
You know, I just read Hanna Barbera became defunct and was absorbed into WB less than a year before the movie came out. I wonder if it had anything to do with the film not being supported by the studio, or if it’s a sheer coincidence.
Scooby Doo is the perfect property to jump start a CU because it has already crossed over with basically everything.
Based and MLPilled
That looks pretty good, I like it when 3D animated films emulate 2D because it keeps it from looking like every other CG cartoon the market.
To be fair, dogs actually have bottom lips like that.
Will the movie have a magic girl transformation sequence?
You seriously think this looks more Pixar than Hana-Barbera? What the fuck are you talking about?
I’m starting to get tired here, I don’t know why we’re still arguing about nothing, but I’ll respond fairly.
You kind of are defending it because every reply of yours has been some kind of comeback saying it’s good.
I’ve not called anybody a pleb except for you, and I don’t claim to be an expert, but I’m citing what I think is a kind of double standard. The original post I replied to was calling Yea Forums as a whole off for not “supporting 2D animation” by watching mlp in theatres. I said there are better ways to support traditional animation than by watching something I, and many more anons here, think is dumb.
I’ve been here only about 10 years, I don’t consider myself an oldfag, but I’ve at least seen the rise and fall of mlp on this board, and have talked with many anons who similarly support 2D animation by watching more hard to find stuff. That was my main point here, the original post was giving the finger to Yea Forums as a whole, and I was defending the people on this board who do otherwise, I’m not boasting about myself. And for the record I “pulled the oldfag card” in my original post too, so calling it a desperate act to recoup some stupid internet argument is inaccurate.
I was half meming with the pride thing, but in none of my posts did I retract that sentiment. I like talking with anons here because, warts and all, it’s the best place to discuss quality animation. Obviously some people here like mlp (they discuss it on their home board, you have a whole board you know, not every show gets that), but others don’t. What separates them from you is that they can at least watch their show with the self-awareness that it’s not the only thing in existence.
>defending your autism THIS hard
Cool story, bro. Do you want to get back to talking about Scooby Doo or do you wish to keep ranting about shit no one cares about?
>soulless
the fuck you mean? it's just as dynamic and fluid as i would expect a cg looney tunes to look like
oh
Hey man, you were the one who brought it up
Will it be better than MYstery Inc?
I didn't post several paragraphs to defend my tastes about something off-topic, if that's what you're implying.
So you would rather have reinterpreted design like sonic?
soul just means
>when I was a kid or reminds me of when I was a kid
holy shit i do not remember this being so awesome
Where'd you get this user?
Those backgrounds are pretty good. The coloring made me think I was looking at an old Miyazaki movie for a split second.
>when a young Scooby and Shaggy first meet
A Pup Named Scooby-Doo the movie?
Dick Dastardly, Dynomutt, and Captain Caveman are in this, so it’ll be interesting to see how they all fit in the story.
Who's playing Red Herring?
Jonah Hill, Josh Gad, T.J. Miller, and Seth Rogen.
both where total ass even for child standards
Does it alternate between lines or scenes? or does he speak with 4 voices at once like some sort of greek chorus?
It'll never stop because channers are assblasted by the facts they got "overtrolled" by pastel horses. The website that posted A.Wyatt Mann /Stonetoss strash shit their pants at the mere mentions of an Hasbro toyline,it's poetry.Based [REDACTED] living in chantards head rent free for 9 years .Godspeed horses, may your reign of terror strike fear on the heart of the future generations of neckbeards
yeah, captain caveman gets his own transformation sequence by the end of the flick
i hope it isn't trash
