I don't think he ever got that close, even in season two.
The only two people who remotely tolerated him were Star and Jackie, both of whom had questionable taste and were willing to ignore his loser attitude which he kept during that period.
Even on the successful dates with Jackie, Marco stumbles every step of the way, and the only reason he wasn't dumped for being such a loser is because Jackie was being nice and trying to make it work.
In the same episode Star starts noticing her crush on Marco, Marco tries showing off to the ladies and utterly fails, but is still accepted anyway, but not necessarily embraced.
Maybe if you consider a harem two girls then you could come close, but this really only lasted for a few episodes too. During this time Marco's behavior wasn't that much different from sweating over Jackie to hanging out with his roommate, Star.
