man I don't even remember where I dropped it
I think she was trapped in a burning church or something

Neat.

But that part and the one after it before she snuck into the Guild were legitimately the best part of the whole webcomic. I suggest you do pick it up again.

>that whole lewd fire elemental skit

Attached: 1425838696587.jpg (525x809, 131K)

I really like the fire elemental
I'm sad she's probably never going to show up again
Once Katia chills out a bit they'd really get along, even outside of active sluttery

That... was a bit of a waste of time.

Focus on the cat's vagina.

Well what do you expect? It only took 3 and a half months to come out, with a blistering pace like that they can't all be epics.

Why are neither of these girls wearing pants

And why would they let a fire elemental near so many books

It was shorter than the previous update, yet it took longer to come out.
Can't wait for Kazerad to swing by and juggle up the excuses and/or apologies.

Attached: Katia Telekinesis.gif (600x450, 633K)

The cat was worried they would be stolen (again), and the fire elemental thought it was a party, do to being summoned next to the cat another naked woman that tore her clothes of in a magically enhanced charisma duel.

>Skyrim.

You N'wah.

Attached: Screenshot (18).png (256x311, 99K)

So what does the fire elementals sign language translate to.

This isn't wrong though.
I feel the same way about kids today, time flies by so Quickly.
I can't believe I agreed with Stonetoss.

Can't believe I haven't seen porn of it yet.

Hope they recover quick and well.

Did he try cooking again?

Then maybe he should just do it himself instead of constantly outsourcing everything. That's always been his goddamn problem. He thinks he needs the comic to use fancier techniques that he can't do, but the damn comic got popular back when it looked like shit.

So go back to looking like shit so we can get some fucking updates.

I stopped caring during the long hiatus. I was sure I would want to read it when it returned but turns out I'd lost all interest.

Is that all you freaks care about? Porn?
Get a life.

What else is there to care about in Prequel?

Attached: 1351841447201.gif (600x450, 49K)

I mean in general. All anyone cares about on this shithole of a website is the pornification of literally anything and everything.

Attached: 517D2540-1E9E-464E-8BFD-9994C28D94CC.jpg (500x500, 61K)

Same happened to me this week, can relate

I just commented that I hadn't seen porn of the character since there's literally has been porn of every Prequel character since the comics started.
>pornification of literally anything and everything.
It's called rule 34 and people here have been horndogs since long before Prequel.

Meh.

How many frames is this?
Also is the aliasing intentionally drawn like that or is it pieced together using the curve tool? Which I mean, is still intentional, but isn't the same as per-pixel drawing the lines.

God dammit. She could at least have been drooling or flipping a page or something.

what happens if there are no more hats to take away from the hatmster

He'll ineffectually whine about how sad hatmster is while updates still don't happen. Then devolve to the point more effort is being put in to hatmster updates than anything else.

I'd love to play it when it comes out in 10 years.

Lots of webcomics are still going from years back, this one isn't special in that regard. Although the long hiatus (almost 2 years) may have made a few people think it was dead for good.

Should have stayed dead. Reviving it after two years only to stall again with nothing but lame excuses is just fucking sad.

We dont care about poorly written furshit unless its a currently airing cartoon

I'm gonna play that tummy like a pair of bongos and then eat her out like I'm a malnourished african child

But user, because prequel continued, it allowed US to talk to each other in this wonder way. And everyone else in this thread can see it

Hell yes. Just caught up on this a few months ago and damn is it good. Are the updates always this far apart though?

Shit.
Fucking hell I don't need this again.

To be fair the 2 year hiatus was an exception leading to a flash game (the one with the sword-dog which hilariously died of old age in the time it took for kaz to finish the flash! Rip doggo. due to him outsourcing his background and stuff to other people that ended up having problems, basically a copy-paste of this update's problems.
Other delays include:
>cooking
>shipping (without knowing how to ship large quantities of items)
>drunken streams
>laziness
>deaths of loved ones, friends and relatives
>all of the above

Attached: 1542350952827.png (600x600, 16K)

Lets be reasonable, Kazerad. This update definitely feels like you could put it together in a week or less, this warranting a weekly instead of once-every-2.5-monthly schedule.

Attached: 0F12BF34-CB49-44EC-82BE-B928E93CCB15.gif (600x450, 10K)

>deaths of loved ones, friends and relatives
how many times has that happened? I only remember the time Kaz's grandma died

I only remember this as well.

Oh, and may she rest in peace and God rest her soul.

So is the author just human Katia?

Life after 25 for probably the next decade is one of non-stop weddings, baby showers, and funerals. It feels like past this point everyone in your life between your parents's age or grandparents's age just start to dying. And everyone around your age is getting married or having kids. Every year there's a pile of weddings and having to fly home for a funeral. You spend every vacation day doing one of those things. One year I saw my friends three times for funerals and we just didn't bother going camping that year because we were all caught up.

I'm not excusing Kaz for anything but when you're a kid nobody mentions to you if someone dies unless they're really important and realistically it's not common for anybody you know as a kid to die. Once you grow the fuck up and with Facebook and shit all you see is people you know dropping dead everywhere from ass cancer or heart failure.

Did cider finally kick the bucket? What slowed this particular update so much?

How many people do you have helping you? Why the fuck do you keep getting "slowed down"?

I'm not kaz, user.

Still giving Kaz money and attention he doesn't deserve?

This stories been going for like 6 years and Katia's still in Kvatch. What a waste of time to read.

At least she hasn't boarded a boat.

what, is he gonna show up at Kaz's door with a daikon radish and a jar of Vegemite?

I missed OG green-Katia

>daikon radish and a jar of Vegemite
That's... oddly specific. Am I missing a maymay here? I rarely shitpost in prequel threads.

There are only two places in which Prequel gets discussed outside of its comments page; this board, and /trash/. The most it'll get in any other place is a brief mention, and very little people would care or know what it is.

So, yes, I estimate that it is a /trash/ shitpost.

>/trash/ actually discussing prequel
Pretty sure its just 10 anons posting the same pictures over and over again while spouting out how they wanna fug the cat.

I know, I'm using the term rather loosely.
What a fitting name for a board, though.

Don't listen to these fucks, you try the rodent system.

Update didn't appear on my RSS feed for some reason. Weird.

No matter what I do, it never notifies me.

Why do they even bother posting here when they can make the exact same but uncensored threads there? I said /aco/ wasn't going to accomplish absolutely anything when it was discussed and big surprise, it had no impact on this board whatsoever.

It just now showed up for me.

this but I'm also upset

is it.. not?

Kaz, your update has 13 panels, 4 of which are minor edits. You should be able to do that in a week, easily, and without outsourcing the backgrounds. You are the laziest motherfucker who has ever lived.

It's set in cyrodiil, just before the events of oblivion. This is because PREQUEL IS 8 MONTHS OLDER THAN SKYRIM. AND WE'RE STILL IN FUCKING KVATCH.

There is nothing worse in life than a good webcomic that grinds to a fucking snail pace over the years, you don't get a chance to get over it or mourn it, because you know in a year or so you'll experience it again, and again, like a sick fever, or an endless headache.

Fuck you Kaz.

If it wasn't for skyrim massive popularity prequel wouldn't have 1/10 of its current fandom.

Isn't that like, 2 hats? It's needs more hats to inflict more pain so we can at least count off how many hats are left.

The prequel fandom was started by homestuckers and maintained by perverts, no TES game had anything to do with it. Regardless, my point was to shit on Kaz, not Skyrim.

>kaz updates one time on time
>has three hats to play with, feels good about it
>updates late
>"whoops, that sucks. well, at least i have two more hats"
>updates late
>"well it was fine last time. still have a hat. might as well make this a good update since i'm already late"
>three months later the update posts
>by this point he's completely forgotten about the hamster
>"haha sorry guys I was waiting for

Half the people who took interest in Prequel didn’t even know it had anything to do with TES.
Like the other user said, it was supported by Homestuck fans at first, and furries kept it rolling at the speed of pouring molasses later.

Do keep in mind though that it did receive a TES signal boost - Bethesda's official twitter account made a post about it

Not like it made any difference. Kazerad with two thousand fans is still as unproductive as a Kazerad with just a thousand.

dedster

That almost describes every /trash/ thread just replace cat with whatever the subject is.

ANL is also approaching an ending. Prequel, meanwhile, still feels like the first act of a three-act structured plot. Still nothing compares to the massive wad of fuckall that granddaddy Homestuck became.

HOMW? What’s that?

I stopped reading around 2012. How much did I miss?

Quite a lot. Most of what you missed happened between when you dropped a mid-late 2015, absolutely nothing until late 2017, and then it’s at a snail’s pace from then to now.

>when you dropped and* mid-late 2015

Judging by /weg/ and this post it is clear that being an artist on a project with a schedule is the most dangerous occupation in the world. Everyone gets debilitating diseases several times a year. Risk of having family tragedy also seems 50 times higher than that of people doing other jobs. I wonder what's the cause of this phenomena?
It's compulsive lying bordering on pathological Munchausen syndrome and anyone who believes these fuckers is a complete retard

You aren't wrong but consider these are internet artists and they seldom need to lie about hurting themselves or ruining everything because they are just that much of a fuck up. They will end up homeless or in jail if left unattended.

but why rope yourself into an obligation and then play sick. at least play sick on your own time

You're drawing the wrong conclusion.
In most cases it's probably poor health from either a sedentary lifestyle or drug abuse, plus mental illness - all of which tend to run in families. I know a lot of artists suffer health problems related to obesity, many more have depressive disorders that weigh heavily on them and their loved ones, I and a lot of the people I collaborate with are kinda heavy drinkers, and whenever I work with a straightedge mormon like Makkon he gets everything done in like a day.

TESO is a better game than Blades

Could you maybe substitute the drink for updates? Like let the compulsion to update be your lethal vice. Sure, it would still kill you in the end and you'd proably be miserable but it's a price I'm willing to pay. And I bet I'm not the only one.

minesweeper is a better game than Blades

They're right you know. Next ES game will be using the same engine and majority of the same resources. The only differrnce will be that this time the radiant quests will be even worse, more repetitive and in places that are evwn more random. And the main quest will be about doing 300 of them.

love u regardless

You’re literally being as paranoid as the Morrowind fans who said that they fear Skyrim would be Oblivion 2, and the Daggerfall fans who feared Oblivion would be Morrowind 2.
Grow up and get a life.

It was a joke. I'm willing to bet it will be a soulless radiantfest but the rest is pretty obviously exegarrated. Get a sense of humor.

Kaz, when the hatmster dies, you should use a system where every month without an update, you add 0.1 pounds of fat to Katia's titties. And those fuckers, they're permanent.

What's the point if you'll never see the result?

If being a paranoid frothing nerd is what passes as a sense of humor around here, then pass, I want none of that disease.

You sound like a tremendous faggot

Making fun of company for creating consistently worse quality products in a predictable way is frothing. Did you get a lobotomy or are you just natually so passive you can't accept any negativity in any context?

It sounds more like user has the constitution of a dandelion and any negativity is an attack for him.

Are you calling kaz a liar?

Lasting way more than Gumball threads. Good for you.

Little off there pal.

2008 was 40 years ago

Why are you "working with" anyone on non-flash updates? Just draw it yourself, you lazy fuck.

I wish skyrim was oblivion 2

I swear, underage n'wahs these days.

>Next ES game will be using the same engine and majority of the same resources.
0/10, do your damn research before trolling. All TES games after Daggerfall and all Bethesda Fallout games have used the same engine. The assets are the only thing that's changed in fourteen years.

Attached: 1552122563799.png (500x347, 161K)

Oblivion implemented a lot of physics shit that wasn't in the morrowind version of the engine. It also mostly poorly implemented a bunch of new AI features that fallout 3 and skyrim, rather than fixing, just never use at all.

Skyrim was, for the most part, better than Oblivion. The gameplay was far less ass and repetitive, even if it was still shit. Better lore, too.

Two thirds of the quests skyrim are to clear out a dungeon of bandits, draugr, or falmer. It is one of the most repetitive games ever fucking made. Its only improvements over oblivion were graphical and a couple of neat ideas like getting your enchanting effects from destroying enchanted gear and learning effects from alchemy by trying shit or eating the ingredients rather than having the effects bd a simple function of your skill stat. That wasn't worth losing quest variety or the entire attribute system.

Skyrm had far more ambitious quests than Oblivion (the actual sidequests, not the radiant tasks). What it lost out in was handcrafted dungeons.

No it didn't. The quests were shorter and had less dialogue.

>Two thirds of the quests skyrim are to clear out a dungeon of bandits, draugr, or falmer. It is one of the most repetitive games ever fucking made.

Compared to... Oblivion gates, necromancer caves, goblin caves, bandit cave. Oblivion has three types of extremely similar dungeon: fort, ayleid ruin and cave. Most of Oblivion quests arent the funny whimsical NPC romp, most of them are still generic fetch quests, and since you don't even fucking progress, since every enemy scales and fighting them is exactly the same start to finish, it's extremely more frustrating to spend even an hour trying to get anything done. Everyone who looks back at Oblivion fondly talks about the parts of the game you don't need to fight or use any of your skills, because nobody actually liked playing through Oblivion, they only liked to stare at the glossy landscape and make fun of the NPCs.

At least in Skyrim you were actually OP by the time you got to the end. At least the game was interesting enough without the babysitting Sean Bean gimmick.

>The quests were shorter and had less dialogue.
Oblivion had 30,000 lines of dialogue, Skryim had 60,000. But that doesn't matter, what matters is scripting. Just about all of Oblivion's quests were extremely basic.

The hell is wrong with you

Unless you pay for a premium plucky quests plus packet! 5 brand new quests with at least 1 rare or better per roll.
you know it's comeing, it's the only thing left to put knot them. Todd shall consume all

Then leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeave
Good god what is the matter with you faggots.

Attached: 1555516085221.png (644x644, 936K)

Oblivion had twice the enemy and dungeon variety and a flat difficulty curve is better than a fucking downward sloping one (obviously both are worse than a proper difficulty curve like New Vegas). Skyrim's level scaling is even worse than oblivion's, because even random trash is level scaled, even if unique items aren't. Oblivion's health bloat gets pretty severe if you play past level 30 or so but why the fuck would you do that?
>Oblivion had 30,000 lines of dialogue, Skryim had 60,000.
True, but this went to shit like making sure the guards have 100 different ways to address you, not to enhance the quests. Also Skyrim's writing was generally worse, even if the voice acting was better.
>Just about all of Oblivion's quests were extremely basic.
They were more complex than Skyrim's on average.

>even if the voice acting was better.
you know the story behind why that's the case?

It's not a secret that almost all of Oblivion's voice acting budget was blown on Sean Bean and Patrick Fucking Stewart, forcing all of the hundreds of characters not named Septim to be voiced by random staff members and D-list VAs

based Mormons

>Oblivion had twice the enemy and dungeon variety and a flat difficulty curve is better than a fucking downward sloping one (obviously both are worse than a proper difficulty curve like New Vegas).

Except Skyrim still keeps specific enemy types and abilities saved up for late game, Dwemer constructs are a different kind of challenge than Draugr or Dragons while every top level enemy in Oblivion is a fucking wizard or Dremora.

>Skyrim's level scaling is even worse than oblivion's, because even random trash is level scaled, even if unique items aren't. Oblivion's health bloat gets pretty severe if you play past level 30 or so but why the fuck would you do that?

Because a lot of content is fucking level locked. Did you know Oblivion has Minotaurs and Unicorns? Most people never even see most enemies because levelling up makes everything worse. Skyrim has better designed spaens all around, especially since the game is designed to keep the harder dungeons geographically separate like it's supposed to.

>Also Skyrim's writing was generally worse, even if the voice acting was better.
Oh, you mean compared to the game that had you pretend you're stopping a world ending invasion but had you travel around the map without any non-scripted daedra encounter? The game where you can do odd jobs for potato people at any time and there is no sense of urgency to anything?

>Skyrim still keeps specific enemy types and abilities saved up for late game
So did oblivion. Mountain lions, ogres, daedroths, stuff like that
>Dwemer constructs are a different kind of challenge than Draugr
No they aren't, other than the exploding spiders, which you should kill from range
>or Dragons
Dragons are fucking annoying to fight and not really a threat to the player other than the fact that they can and will decide to ignore you and kill NPCs instead. Dragonrend, which you get less than halfway through the main quest, makes them pathetically easy.
>Because a lot of content is fucking level locked.
No it's fucking not. There's not a single challenge you can't overcome at level 1. Even Alduin is only level 10 if you refuse to level up yourself.
>keep the harder dungeons geographically separate
There are no harder dungeons, only longer ones. This was also true of oblivion, of course.
>Oh, you mean compared to the game that had you pretend you're stopping a world ending invasion but had you travel around the map without any non-scripted daedra encounter?
Did you even play oblivion? After kvatch and before ending the main quest, optional oblivion gates popped up outside every town, and random ones would appear as you explored, growing more frequent as you progressed. Of course, there were only 8 or 9 oblivion gate layouts, so that was kind of shit, but at least they were pretty damn big.
>The game where you can do odd jobs for potato people at any time and there is no sense of urgency to anything?
Skyrim has way less urgency because dragons are non threats and the main quest establishes early on that the primary antagonist of the gsme is just straight up not a threat to the main character.

Not that - they were given their lines in alphabetical order. Not by quest or in chronological order. They just had a massive list, unsorted, with zero context.

I believe it for the random chit chat but not for the quests, at least not all of them. Characters still sound like the same character when they aren't delivering a generic line.

The average Prequel thread survives this long by being borderline off-topic, all simply because there’s simply little to no meat in each pitiful update Kazerad puts out once every 2.5 months.

Ah shit, didn't specify by character. My bad. Yeah it was sorted by character - they just had no context.

I'm still not sure I believe you. The delivery was amateur and corny, but lines generally flowed into eachother well enough. Except for the procedural conversations, of course. I'd believe that dialogue trees were presented alphabetically.

I'm a little busy at the moment so I cant get you the exact time stamp

He means the alphabetical line thing. Turns out it's like the first thing he says. It's still not quite as bad as I originally thought because the lines were divided by character, so it wasn't hard to figure out how a line should have been said, but it would still be annoying to actually perform.

>All TES games after Daggerfall and all Bethesda Fallout games have used the same engine.
Yes, that's why it's a common joke. Because it's very likely to be true despite how pathetically low effort it is. Because it already happened many times. A good joke is grounded in reality not pulled out of your ass.

Homestuck is the greatest waste of a single person's effort in all of history, but it still is not as dissapointing as paranatural.

woah i didn't know makkon was a mormon. dude's a fucking machine, i don't know how he even does half of what he does.

not true, homestuck is the greatest waste of multiple people's effort. dude had a devoted music team and art team working for him for free.

i think it's more likely that fragile types are, by nature, somehow drawn to art. god knows how many mentally ill teens on tumblr pick up art as a hobby.
...nvm, kaz said it.

>but it still is not as dissapointing as paranatural.
C'mon man, you're that's a fruit hanging so low it's basically underground.

Can mormons even use computers?
Isn't it haram?

Not as long as it's halal.
You're thinking of muslems.

ANYTHING is better than fucking Blades. They took an alright mobile skeleton and ruined it by pay-gating absolutely everything and not having enough variation. Unfortunately, that's pretty much mobile games in general.

The worst part about Prequel is the audience participation. It was great until it got popular. Immediately the quality went to shit because it took fucking forever to get out of Kvatch.

Oblivion's dungeons weren't hand-crafted, the staff literally made interchangeable pieces for each type of dungeon and ctrl+v'd that shit. It was one of the major criticisms of the game and one of the major selling points of Skyrim was that every single dungeon was hand-crafted.

Were they prefabs that they ctrl+c'd together, or just coridoors that were pieced together and then filled by hand? Cause a good chunk of Skyrim's dungeons were the latter.

They still wound up being generic as fuck.

Skyrim's dungeons are also plug and play, that said, skyrim's dungeons have a greater selection of pieces. This is at least partially due to the fact that there are less kinds of dungeons in skyrim.
The latter. The thing that actually makes skyrim's dungeons better than oblivions are bigger rooms, more use of ambient sound and light, and sometimes actual boss fights.

>Yea Forums mods still the biggest pendant shitheads ever

Attached: 1539812329478.jpg (531x531, 20K)

>sometimes actual boss fights.
I will never forget how you could just leave the boss room and they would stop attacking. That one dungeon with the Fiery Soul Trap, I think?, enchantment, you could literally run in circles around the room flaming the boss at lv1.

I honestly haven't played many RPG's outside of the elder scrolls and fallout, do other games have these problems??

i've played roguelikes with better dungeons than skyrim's, d e s u

>is the audience participation.

Is hard to believe that there is people naive enough to think that audience influence the story when Kazerad said several times how Katia will only "follow commands that totally fit what she would do" the story is 100% his and the comments are just for show.

At least Hussie was honest about not using the commands anymore.

Kaz only lists the suggestions to pad the length and hide how little work he does

Yeah, I realized that the Audience has no control over the story when that necromancer died.

Sometimes, there's a huge disconnect on how stuff works out in Skyrim vs how it does in say, Dragons Dogma or any of the Souls, because everything in the later is a set piece. In other games you can't leave whenever you want or take time going slowly. You can't flip the whole place upside down stealing everything not bolted down. The environment is accessory to the boss and you simply don't get to screw around much, it's jarring coming off a TES game.

>This is at least partially due to the fact that there are less kinds of dungeons in skyrim.

I read it through the archive not while it was updating.

Attached: Smug doggo.png (454x394, 102K)

It only took about a month, this was while Kaz still knew how to make updates without someone to hold his hand.

>Kaz doesn't use suggestions
I mean duh. Katia goes down in the basement, touches a glowing orb without knowing what it does, then spends a year of real life time trapped in a cage until someone suggests - likely at the right time in the plot - for Katia to use the numbers we saw in a gif of a spell book months ago.

I guarantee the vast majority of people were not full of ideas on how to get out of a magic trap. It was dumb to get caught in the first place, and obvious we had to wait for Kaz to get around to escaping for us.

>then spends a year of real life time trapped in a cage
Over a year.

You could've robbed a convenience store in 2017, get caught by the police, sentenced to a year in prison, served your entire term, and be released before Katia escaped her cage.

Let that sink in.

If I can weigh in on the Oblivion difficulty curve thing real quick, I think Oblivion’s model of “slowly get so hard the player can’t keep up” is actually pretty viable for an open-world game (if poorly implemented).

Like, if the ideal difficulty scaling had enemies get stronger at the exact same rate you do, then there’s really no point in incrementing your stats at all - the game is fundamentally the same as if you were Lv1 the whole time. With an open world game that functionally goes on forever and is obligated to have leveling, I think the best options are either a Morrowind model where your strength is a fuzzy limiter on what quests you can complete, or the Oblivion model where it’s an “arms race”, with you trying to stay ahead of enemies that are balanced as though you are making very optimal decisions.

>remember how he mentioned that the one guy who said to kill dmitri was "responsible for his death" because "all your commands are important and not to be taken lightly"

I don’t remember ever saying this! I thought it was pretty clear I wanted him to die.

>please stop sucking him off. His ego is already huge.

I’m obviously a biased party on this, but I don’t /think/ it’s huge? Like, I think Andrew Dobson was the only person I ever really talked to as though he was somehow my lesser, and that was only after he did the whole “who are you to criticize a man with thousands of DA followers?” thing.

>Kaz is unemployed

The polite term is “self employed”.

katia is cute and look where that got us

>I don’t remember ever saying this! I thought it was pretty clear I wanted him to die.
i'm dead certain you did, desu. something along the lines of "well, careful what you wish for. don't suggest things if you aren't ready for the consequences ;)", but it's gone with MSPAF into the void, so ah well.

it's okay though. i, anonymous the magnanimous, forgive you
if you won't bring him back into the spotlight as a lich at least bring him back as a cameo summoned skeleton

Ego isn't just telling someone they are lesser; you sometimes act in a way that suggests you've already decided your way is best. Responding to critique doesn't count for much when then takeaway is always "yeah but my reasons were legit, so don't worry about it." That, and the hiatus-excuse cycle doesn't ever change. Your commitment to producing what is pretty fairly seen as very little content between very long stretches of delay looks a bit like a smug assumption that your fans can be safely disregarded without hurting your bottom line.

>or the Oblivion model where it’s an “arms race”, with you trying to stay ahead of enemies that are balanced as though you are making very optimal decisions.

But the only way to keep up with the levelling in Oblivion is to do the most unintuitive things possible, level up the least you can, take the skills you'll use the least in your character build, avoid certain quests and certain items, etc.

If the game has to be played "wrong" to get good results then it's a fucking bad game. I see absolutely no situation in which this is a good system, the challenge should ramp up in a way that presents the player with new situations rather than make the tools available to him progressively less useful when doing exactly the same task. If enemies got new abilities, got faster or smarter or at least more numerous while keeping the player lethal as fuck you'd have a point, but gimping them and adding zeros to the health bars is a lazy, shitty, pointless thing. You don't make a game that should take dozens of hours to complete where only the first 5 or so are engaging in any capacity.

Thanks for the heads up, gonna read it before I start today's comics.

>The polite term is “self employed”.
"Self employed" implies you actually work, you layabout nigger.

>If the game has to be played "wrong" to get good results then it's a fucking bad game.
Luckily it can be easily fixed with oblivion XP

Like I said, the implementation could be better, but I think the core idea of having to actually /try/ to train in an optimal way gives more meaning to the leveling system.

Like, if the goal of the game’s balance is just to slowly present more of a challenge, then all the stat increments are fundamentally cosmetic - as in, facing a 220 health enemy while having 10 damage is only a tiny bit harder than a 20 health enemy while having 1 damage. You could accomplish the same thing by keeping damage the same and just having the later enemy get 22 health.

But when enemies are getting stronger faster than you can get stronger, then you have to metagame the system a bit. You have to make decisions about what is worth doing, and what will get you the most power. I mean, Oblivion fucked it up by making the answer “tag skills you never use”, but I think it would’ve worked a lot better with Skyrim’s character progression, where everything levels you.

As is, the standard for open world games is basically that you stop playing them when you get bored. Oblivion ended up with this almost arcade-like structure where you play until it basically becomes impossible to beat enemies, and I think that direction could be built off of to a very good effect.

I wouldn’t call that egotism so much as failing to meet your expectations. Like, you guys know I’m never going to tell you that you’re /obligated/ to like my comic, or disliking it means you have poor taste. If you can enjoy my work despite the flaws, I appreciate it, but if you can’t, it doesn’t make your opinions less valid. Sometimes this failure to meet expectations is a genuine accident on my part (see: every time something takes longer than expected), but other times it’s just because I want to do something different than you want me to do. I mean, if I followed the desires of everyone who had a problem with the comic, I think it would just be Katia/QW porn.

Remember that I am fundamentally a scientist who accidentally became a comic author. I have ideas about what will make a good story, and I want to see if they work out as well as I think. When I stick to a course of action despite your criticisms, please don’t interpret it as a dismissal - think of it as an opportunity to potentially prove you are right, depending how widely your feelings are shared. I hope that you can use the experience of enjoying/hating my comic to eventually make a better one, and that I can eventually use what I learn from it to do the same.

For the sake of a counter-point, I'd mention your reason for this most recent hiatus is not due to experimentation. Yes, you were waiting on resources, but how long is too long to wait? Especially in this case - there's nothing you could not have completed yourself. It's nice to give friends work up until that ~again~ results in needless delay.

>When I stick to a course of action despite your criticisms, please don’t interpret it as a dismissal - think of it as an opportunity to potentially prove you are right, depending how widely your feelings are shared.
You don't prove that something is right by proving the opposite wrong or by proving that people don't like the current state of affairs. People disliking something doesn't prove that the alternative idea must be better, it just suggests a need for improvement. You need to prove everything right on its own. What kind of a scientist would say something so inherently against basics of research? That said I'm mostly enjoying the comic and you seem to have a solid grasp on where you want to take it. I'm particularly fond of the lore interpretations even if the story itself seems to stumble around a bit.

>Remember that I am fundamentally a scientist who accidentally became a comic author.
Scientists actually try to learn things from their experiments, so no- you aren't.

Not sure if you are the real Kaz, but just in case. I ask you to one day make a story with your own worldbuilding, even if is a really short one, I'm really curious to see what something made by you with your own world instead of Elder Scrolls one would look like. It don't even need to see something ambitious could be a pretty simply and average looking universe.

I think the factor you are overlooking is that critics are meant to predict the opinions of an audience. Like, the thing that separates a critic from everyone is this idea that they have the opinion others /will/ have. This predictive ability is where critics get their value. For example, moviegoers can turn to a proven movie critic to learn whether they'll like a movie before spending money on it, or a filmmaker can turn to a critic to know whether a script will work before it's even been made.

But this also means that critics can be wrong. Sometimes they will claim things are terrible ideas or will be remembered as the worst part of something, only for those to predictions to not pan out at all. While I would never advocate /silencing/ critics, I think it's important to sometimes go against criticism so that the critics - and those who disagree with their assertions - can have an opportunity to see whose predictions are more accurate.

And that's really the core of science: judging things by the predictive ability they demonstrate. Unless I misunderstood what you were saying, in which case please disregard.

Well, yeah, that one was just bad decisions on my part. I'm not trying to excuse /everything/ with "I wanted to see what would happen".

>I ask you to one day make a story with your own worldbuilding, even if is a really short one, I'm really curious to see what something made by you with your own world instead of Elder Scrolls one would look like.

I'll probably do it eventually so I can monetize it easier, I'm just a bit apathetic toward it. Like, I don't understand how setting creation gets romanticized the way it does. Everyone here has probably been making up settings since they were children. Once you commit to one, you're basically just writing fanfiction for your own universe anyway.

I bet you just wanna see if I make something with 100% animal people.

Attached: Rajirrakill.png (700x600, 24K)

Artists should listen to criticism, but not follow it blindly. People might be right about something needing improvement while being completely wrong on how it should be improved or their opinion on how it should go might be contradicting authors vision. Therefore even if the audiences reaction proves that there are flaws that need to be fixed it can't be used reliably to fix those flaws.

kaz the fact of the matter is no matter what you say all night laundry has objectively updated every day for 6 years while you rarely update more often than once a month without going on a 3-month (or year) hiatus

>I don't understand how setting creation gets romanticized the way it does. Everyone here has probably been making up settings since they were children. Once you commit to one, you're basically just writing fanfiction for your own universe anyway.
Well for starters you will have full knowledge of this universe what allow you to explore fully without any worry of contradicting the lore, plus you can expand it to better fit your ideas.

Worldbuilding is just as if not more interesting that the story itself many times.

>I bet you just wanna see if I make something with 100% animal people.
If I wanted that I could ask you to make a comic of some isolated village of Elsweyr or Black Marsh. But no, I don't want to see you go full furry.

>Well for starters you will have full knowledge of this universe what allow you to explore fully without any worry of contradicting the lore, plus you can expand it to better fit your ideas.

I dunno, setting exploration is often a kind of negative thing in my eyes. Like, one of my personal pet peeves is stories that start off with a stylized "in the beginning" explanation of how the world and its denizens were created. It's nice when a setting is there, but a lot of creators kind of want to hit you over the head with it.

Like I said, I'll probably make some original stuff eventually, but it'll be more of a convenience thing than some triumphant moment of "you've seen me write fanfiction, now prepare to see me at my TRUE POWER with the weighted training gear OFF!".

I bet I can get you all to stick around for it though.

I just mean how it feels! Like, when you haven't started making something, it exists in this malleable space where you can easily flip around major setting ideas as needed, trying to get everything to fit together. But once you commit to a setting and establish its basics, you're working with its framework and history in basically the same way a fanfiction author does. There isn't this huge blast of freedom I think some people expect, it's just sort of the same feelings and process as working in an unoriginal setting.

Then shoot me nigger

What

No one has a "background" in art you fuck. Or, looking at it another way, everyone has a background in art. No one has ever given a shit if an artist has "studied" art and it's never had any impact on

Wait a minute, fuck whatever I was just saying. You have a big formal study planned? YOU, Kaz, the guy who can't make a sprite comic happen at a pace faster than a glacier melts and who needs a fucking army of helpers to do so, and who can't seem to find people capable of churning out BACKGROUND ART in a span of less than a year, HAS A FUCKING PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDY PLANNED?! DOES THAT ACTUALLY SOUND LIKE SOMETHING YOU'D BE ABLE TO PULL OFF YOUR TRACK RECORD FOR GETTING SHIT DONE SURE DOESN'T SUGGEST IT, FUCK

Attached: 0827_a.png (800x600, 92K)

Why don't you just say that you have more fun exploring other people universes than making up your own? That's one of your reasons right? Similar to roleplaying.

You love The Elder Scrolls but you don't fell like you will feel this same passion for some random universe you will make up. Is that right?

Capslocking won't solve anything, and you replied to the wrong person.

Psychology isn't science, also there's no way someone with your work ethic would ever finish a doctorate

>half-naked 12 year olds? I'd say that's comic and or cartoon related

Every post that insults kaz for refusing to even admit that he's screwed up is a good post

It solves nothing. It does nothing. It's just a bunch of angry manchildren yelling at a lazy manchild thinking that'd get him off his ass to do anything.

The biggest advantage for you probably wouldn't be the "freedom" of writing your own universe, as much it would be the freedom of monetizing and marketing your own universe.

Attached: dumb little catgirl webcomic that got enough fans to get an actual video game released on consoles.j (219x300, 18K)

It's a very different kind of work! Spending months and months planning something that is over and done with in a day, then spending months and months writing about it right down my alley!

And I think "having a background in art" is definitely a thing. People might appreciate an artist's work the same whether or not she has a formal education in it, but the people with a formal education and higher-tier work experience will tend to have more refined skills and - perhaps just as importantly - more of an interest in doing that sort of work. If you had never bothered to take an art class and only drew every week or so, I would not expect you to have much skill and familiarity with it.

But let's be honest: I'd probably still pay you to help me on a time-sensitive project.

>Why don't you just say that you have more fun exploring other people universes than making up your own? That's one of your reasons right? Similar to roleplaying.

It's not that I particularly love working with existing universes, I just don't find it that different from working with original settings. After you build a setting, you're basically just working within its established boundaries the same way you'd be working in a premade one.

I noted that up above, yeah.

Anyway I'm going to bed, someone else argue with the "psych isn't a science" guy please.

When you think about it Hussie and Kazerad really are two sides of the same "poking and prodding your readership for reactions over telling a good story" coin.

Man. One of these days I need start getting hooked on comics by artists that actually genuinely unironically 100% care about them.

At least Kaz hasn’t gone the web novel route, r-right?

Also, the post you replied to is off by 7070700, 70700 or 700, depending on how ambitious you are.

Well shucks, I really enjoy worldbuilding and figured it'd just be better to compile all that trivial worldbuilding information into a field guide like some children's books do. Things supplementary but not critical to the setting might as well be documented, I'd imagine. Especially since you can type it up as opposed to having to illustrate it.

Of course I've almost literally just started my webcomic and probably won't be posting pages until after finals, so I've had more time to think than to draw unfortunately.

Kazis such a retard. His comic doesn't have a following. Nobody cares about prequel adventure or whatever non-events will happen next update. They care about his furry waifu character, and to a lesser extent his other furry waifu character. And it's not like this is a secret phenomena. Star fox adventures is shit and has always been considered shit. Most of the sonic franchise is shit, but that's not what 90% of people who still talk about the franchise care about. Fucking scooby doo and the ghoul school is not a cult classic. No, kaz has not been the one keeping prequel adventure alive for 4 or 5 years. Filthypaladin and Raydio have.

Honestly fuck off. You're just stringing it out as long as possible.

It would have more impact if people demanded the fappers take it to /aco/, but not enough people did. Instead they whined about people trying to force them to /aco/.

And yet you're still in every Prequel thread.

These threads get more and more like the Endtown threads every day. People want to sit there and bitch about the comic endlessly, but not one of them will actually stop reading. If they had stopped reading, they wouldn't have a reason to visit these threads. It's like someone sitting there eating a sandwich and making a disgusted face after every bite, but they never think to stop eating the damn thing. Then someone hands them another sandwich of the exact same ingredients, and they dig in without hesitation, making the same disgusted face after every bite. Protip, if they really didn't like it, they would stop eating it.

I didn't say prequel was bad, I said that it wasn't good enough to retain a following on its own given how it goes on hiatus every single update. And I'm correct.

Prove it then. If fucking Gone With the Blastwave can retain a fanbase, why not Prequel?

Then you aren't one of those people hanging out in the thread bitching about the comic.

>cute protag is all that matters
People like you are the reason Yea Forums is as bad as it is.

>I have a big formal study planned
Unless you also have a degree in physiology and you have the money to gather up a few thousand participants, odds are your planned study probably won't be very scientific.

I mean, if you went to school for psychology, hopefully you realize people like to mock the area as a "developing science" in the same way they mock sociology. Yeah, sure, these fields do contribute to the world, but often in very fuzzy, inconclusive ways, and there are still way too many hangers-on from the days of cognitive theory or god forbid even the Freudian days.

Biology is slowly taking over the field, because the brain is made up of proteins and applied chemistry rather than an Ego, Id, and Superego.

Alright, thank you, anons. I need a good webcomic to past the time at uni.
This.

>slav
Rude, she's a finnish-scandinavian mix

There are 13 panels in this update of Prequel. Even if you count each flash animation frame as a separate panel (it absolutely isn't), then that's around 25 panels.

If ANL had to produce 25 panels, it would update each day, consistently, for around 3 weeks, and you'd have 25 panels.

When Prequel has to produce 25 panels, it goes on hiatus for 3 months with no indication of when the next panel is. ANL also includes 25 snippets of text with those 25 panels, which allows it to develop the characters and advance the plot far more than Prequel does with its lesser amount of text. This is helped by vastly better pacing.

So you're right, it's not a fair comparison. Kazerad obviously has some problems with mental illness and a learning disorder, because he's incapable of doing even a tenth of the work the ANL guy does at a far more consistent schedule. It wouldn't be fair to compare an actual retard with a normal, functioning member of society.

>I bet you just wanna see if I make something with 100% animal people.
I want Kaz to make the next Redwall, except instead of Raspberry Cordial and Shrimp 'n' Hotroot Soup it's beer and bbq wings

>snip
>Biology is slowly taking over the field, because the brain is made up of proteins and applied chemistry rather than an Ego, Id, and Superego.

I think one of the flaws that people - yourself included - often make is conflating psychology with its sub-field of clinical psychology. The "archetypal" psychologist is a bearded man who sits depressed people down to talk about their mental problems, but the field also encompasses the study of "normal" people.

It's kind of like Mythbusters for the presuppositions we make about human behavior. Like, one of the Babby's First Research projects I did in college looked at whether different paragraph structures had an impact on people's ability to understand and retain the information. It's easy to have opinions on what structure is best, and it's easy to find examples in support of/against this opinion, but the purpose of research psychology is to analyze this sort of thing the same way you'd do a drug trial. Like, see whether the paragraph structure you /think/ is best actually works better than the others a significant amount of the time, or if you're full of shit.

Most of the applications are admittedly a little evil. Like, companies will fund research into addiction models to find the best way to shill microtransactions. Propogandists will use psychological research findings to optimally stoke fear and hatred. Psychology also largely encompasses the practice of psychographics, meaning a psychologist would likely be the person studying what proportion of people are like and judge things solely by the cuteness of the protagonist.

It's true that brains are all chemistry, but we're decades if not a full century away from being able to extrapolate things about human behavior from looking at brains - even basic facts like the average human reaction times or level of risk aversion. It's easier to just stick people in a box and see what they do.

I love going to the bottom of long threads about pieces of media and seeing what stupid arguments people are having about completely unrelated things

Threads about this web-comic would not be allowed on /aco/, due to their rules enforcement

lmao when even kaz gets deleted

Pff. Man. Prequel threads are banned on Yea Forums EXCEPT when Kaz makes a new post, but that's because discussion about Prequel gradually comes to resemble a /vg/ thread due to the lack of content. It takes way too long to get a few drawings of a cat girl doing functionally nothing for numerous updates.

But that said, I hate taking discussion about politics or whatever to other boards. The mods don't actually moderate THERE. Want to talk politics on /pol/? Get fucked, "muh free speech" protects non-discussion. But at least on boards where it doesn't belong you occasionally get a little sanity on those kinds of topics.

I'm not sure why Kazerad's posts get deleted. Is it because they're off-topic?

Probably for namefagging too hard/off-topic/not updating enough

Good. The guy comes here to shill his comic and brag about how smart he is while his fanboys suck him off in spite of his weak ass storytelling. I can live without that.

I disagree with you there. Kazerad is a good storyteller, but he's putting his skill to waste with his laziness.

Maybe he self deleted to fix something. Like an error, or maybe too much personal information.

Wait, no never-mind, he just confirmed that wasn't it (and then got deleted again).

Yeah, it's surprisingly hard to talk about a comic without talking about any of the things the comic is based on.

>Good. The guy comes here to shill his comic and brag about how smart he is while his fanboys suck him off in spite of his weak ass storytelling. I can live without that.

I don't think I'm shilling, or bragging about being smart! Nothing I'm talking about is really an intelligence thing; it's more of an ideological opinion that people should be more willing to do stupid things just to see what happens. We should try to see which bits of common sense are real, and which are kind of off-base or misleading.

Basically, I think art should be more like a science. Like, I want to understand why my copypasted cat is popular while something with better art that updates daily like All Night Laundry hovers around 3-digit readership. Ultimately, I hope that over time we can reduce success to something so well understood that people can basically choose the type or degree of it they want, and nobody ends up in the uncomfortable position of pouring their heart and soul into something only for nobody to care.

Probably counts as Avatarfagging.

well, I did admit to it being a shitty chart

I believe global rule 6 has always been the carte blanche rule. Janitors can delete stuff if they feel it doesn't meet a quality standard, which used to be abused a lot more often.

But Yea Forums has a bunch of hidden rules pertaining to specific artists or IP. Sinfest threads, for example, are forbidden. I'm not sure if this is because Tat pestered them about his IP rights or if it's because threads about Sinfest always turn political, but either way, if a mod sees a thread it vanishes.

So a mod with a pet peeve can delete anything and probably find a reason for it after the fact. Not like anybody checks up on them.

Maybe Sinfest is just impossible to have threads about to begin with because it's insane radfem drivel by a dicklet asian cuck who still thinks he can nods respectfully at his ex-gf enough to make her want to fuck him again.

Why hand-pick posts to delete? Just prune the whole thread and/or preemptively ban it. Webcomics are tenuously Yea Forums material at best, and this one is based on Yea Forums material and surely violates global rule 3 for furry material. And Kaz, for fuck's sake, stop avatarfagging and put on a proper trip code. You've been here all summer, stop acting like a textbook newfag.

>put on a proper trip code
but then we wouldn't be able to pretend to be kaz!

Which is the more endearing protagonist:deuteragonist relationship?

P: Mediocre young adult that doesn't start trying to improve until the D: Ambitious child gets under their care and requires the adult to put in extra work maintaining his illusion of distanced superiority.

P: Mediocre young adult that seeks to grow with the advice of D: Elderly adult that is essentially the realized version of a late bloomer, content and possessing several masteries.

P:Child protagonist operating partially oblivious to the efforts of D: Non-parental mother-figure (Think a nanny that's around more than Mom)

P/D: Two adult protagonists that go wildly off the typical pathways to conventional success and wind up surpassing mediocrity in peculiar ways.

It also explains why a typical incel who got to be a moderator lets waifu and cheesecake threads slide, but anything furry gets bombarded.

>incel

anybody who unironically uses that words is pretty damn cringe

It’s just a word that describes some people pretty damn well, dude. Quit being such a whiner.
It perfectly fits the behavior of the waifu-obsessors on this site have; they’re constantly active in waifu-worshipping threads on Yea Forums and Yea Forums or Yea Forums, but anything pertaining to furries is struck down because it’s “degenerate cancer” or some other /pol/-tier buzzwords

Cringe and fagpilled

How often do you update YOUR webcomic, pray tell?

>appeal to accomplishment
No.

Pretty easy to be so flippant about something you've never actually had to do yourself.

But destroying is typically easier than creating.

Writing fanfiction?

11, actually.

Yeah. They make the best Biblical fanfiction.

But almost every other thread where people post barely sfw images and their slashfiction belongs there yet they are always posted here. It seems like people who can't post on the right board getting instantly banned would improve quality of life for everyone since people who want porn will be able to post porn and people who don't want the cancer spam won't see as much of it.

Go hang around him.

Youd think that if critics know so damn much about what makes a good movie, then why don't they ever make award-winning movies themselves?

Should be child's play for them the way they shit on others work so relentlessly.

Except he DOES update. Whether he updates enough is of course debatable. But him actually making updates is not.

stop playing dumb

>implying that prequel is an award winning story

Crappy fanfiction shilled by thirsty furfags.

So start up your own web comic/novel and show Kaz how it's properly done.

Just kidding. You and I both know you won't. It typically takes much less effort to shit on something than it is to actually do it yourself.

Did that a couple hours ago. Probably do it again in 3 more.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_accomplishment

Stupid furfag

Don't worry. I already assumed your answer when I posted it.

My feelings are fine. But not an argument. I'm still right. It's far easier to talk shit than actually do anything yourself.

You don't need an argument to refute a fallacy.

Simply stating a fact. You said he never updates. Yet that is demonstrably untrue.

Now does he update ENOUGH? Well, that wasn't what was said.

I made that in regards to movie critics. Prequel featured nowhere in that statement. But it is a valid question.

Don't care for furries, personally.

But it's cute that you have a convenient excuse instead of actually answering the question.

Always easier to destroy than create.

But it's not a fallacy when it's literally true that it takes less time and effort to type out a sentence on the internet than to actually create something yourself. That's an objective fact.

It is, is still a fallacy, you can repeat the " do yourself then" dozens or even hundreds of times, is irrelevant.

But it's not a fallacy when it's literally true that it takes less time and effort to type out a sentence on the internet than to actually create something yourself. That's an objective fact.

Im willing to bet it took more time and effort to draw the basic line art for one panel than it took for you to make that post.

>>irrelevant

Only because you know full well you're too lazy to. I however, know the truth about your kind.

>you can repeat the " do yourself then" dozens or even hundreds of times
That is exactly what he's going to do, for as long as you'll feed him (You)s. He doesn't actually give a shit about the topic, he just wants someont to acknowledge his existence.

user, are you... familiar with the concept of a movie critic? Food critic? You don't need to be growing your own grapes to judge a wine's quality.
Additionally plenty of us have our own projects. I know what it's like to put a lot of time and effort into GMing or game dev, it's hard as balls and exhausting. That won't stop me for criticizing Kaz though. If I had a blog for posting game updates on a pretty good game and thousands of people following it and one blog post a year saying "update: added a new enemy recolor" I would personally accept all the criticism ever. Instead I know that, personally, I'm just going to finish my games BEFORE I release or even talk about them. Kaz doesn't owe us anything but he sure as fuck takes a lot of time (which we're allowed to complain about).

Even if making a comic required spilling your own blood onto the floor I'd still chastise the guy honestly. The excuses are silly. Just own up to the fact you weren't feeling it ffs.

It's easy to flippantly dismiss Kaz's output when there are people who put out TENS OF TIMES as much content WITHOUT OUTSIDE HELP. Obviously not every artist needs to be a fucking madman like Andrew Hussie, but for fucks sake, 13 panels in two and a half MONTHS? AND HE DIDN'T EVEN DRAW THE BACKGROUNDS?

Reminds me of Oda of One Piece fame who only puts ot about 13 pages a month and doesn't even do the backgrounds.

Or Hunter x Hunter author selling literal sketches

Meanwhile actual beautifully made mangas like a "bride story" are never heard by the average normalfag

Attached: otoyomegatari-4193101.jpg (1200x862, 244K)

>13 pages per month
Meanwhile Kaz puts about 2 panels every 2 or 3 months.

You can't just mention Bride Stories and not post tapestries.

13 comic pages is much more work than the vast majority of prequel updates. But no, it's not monthly, it's weekly. One piece has over 900 fucking chapters, because Oda actually takes his work seriously.

He puts out about 3 chapters a month, and they are usually 16-19 pages each. Besides, the breaks are supposedly imposed on him by shueisha.

I feel bad for the author, he put more work in a single panel than Oda put through an entire chapter. He deserve so much more than what he got. Each manga from his is an art gallery.

I love her. There was an author's note for one of her mangas where she wasjust talking about random things and it mentioned how her editor was pissed at her for the chapter being late because she spent three days drawing an armoire.

>Protip, if they really didn't like it, they would stop eating it.
They liked what it was and they're hoping it'll go back to that. In the meantime they have fun throwing peanuts.

Honestly if the guy who writes it can pull it out of the doldrums they way they're hoping they'll probably be the first people to return to supporting it monetarily; apparently he alienated a lot of his supporters and is living in poverty now.

The catch with entertainment is that you'll always have a certain core of diehard fans who'll almost never leave, and if you choose you can always turn to them for comfort. But unless you're a massive success or some kind of monopoly, it's the fairweather fans that pull the margins and make it all profitable. There's usually more of them than there'll ever be "whales" or whatever you want to call them.

I would say it's the exact opposite. The "fairweather fans" who set a dollar donation each month and then forget they've done so are a dime a dozen and will continually come and go (usually going when they check their patreon account and realise they're sending a dollar a month to something they don't read any more). The more popular you are, the more exposure, the more money you get from this rotating pile of people as the exposure linearly translates to a more or less constant bubble of money - this is how authors who have "made it big" stay solvent even though they're probably beyond the influence of the more controlling editors by now and writing to please themselves.

On the other hand, when you're as niche as Endtown, it's the hardcore ones, the ones that'll believe in you enough (until you seriously disappoint and disillusion them) to give you $25/$50/$75 a month, that matter when keeping you afloat, and you have to please them or you risk being set adrift. They're also the evangelists who sustain and increase exposure to the "casuals" - the people who strive to make threads for your comic in places like Yea Forums, the people who talk about it on social media, the people who send little emails to websites suggesting you as an interview subject (the Endtown guy used to be popular for that, but hasn't had an interview offer in two years... strange, that).

I mean, just look at Endtown's patreon page. Last I checked it's mostly being supported by bigger donors, and it sure as hell looks like they're the ones slowly leaving and dropping their pledges as the comic drifts between stupid and boring.

Hence why I say, "Unless you're a massive success or some kind of monopoly". It's not rocket science. If only a few people can afford to send you $75 per month to make a comic, then obviously those people are in the minority. For every one of those guys, there's 75 people donating $1.

You could pledge allegiance to Hitler and still retain a surprising number of "whales", but you'll lose the fairweather fans.

I think you and I must be defining "fairweather" differently, then. I'm talking about casuals, who will donate for a period and then leave, but of whom there will usually be a constant, rotating number, buoyed by exposure.

The hardcore, like the ones in trash (currently in "disappointed mode" but ready to come back) are the ones that are most reliable for a niche author if treated right, being both the high-rollers with a vested interest in the comic, and the engine of exposure that drives the influx of casuals.

The Endtown guy needs to mend things with the latter, they were his only hope for a ticket to the big time (or even to not starving) without transforming the comic wholesale into something Garfield-tier.

>For every one of those guys, there's 75 people donating $1.
With Endtown, it's more like there's 50 people donating a dollar and a whole bunch of people in the $20-150 range, and the latter appear to be the ones that are decreasing their support. Like I said, since it's super-niche it's sustained by the hardcore, and they're slowly leaving or devaluing the comic as it disappoints them more and more.

Thanks, user.
Lost this with my HDD.
Glad someone saved it.

Who are those "we" you are talking about?

Basic Bitches.

I wouldn't have minded as much if it meant more updates but it's been 5 months since his last one.

This art is fantasitc. It's legitimately the best manga art I've ever seen.

Heyyy, I made that picture like, five fuckin' years ago. Fucking awesome.

I'd say that the 100/10/1 rule (among 100 fans, 90 are silent lurkers, only 10 will care enough to actually make their presence known, and only 1 of those 10 will be die-hard enough to create content or buy merch) used to matter a whole lot more in the days of ad revenue. But now with Patreon "whales" have a bigger impact. Never underestimate the money a furry working a blue-collar job is willing to throw at content he likes.

I guess people care more about the story than the art huh

Is literally unironically nothing more than that, is the most repetitive manga in history of mankind, you can take off 99% of the story and the plot wouldn't change at all.

The Skypiea Saga is a good self contained story. That really could have been the whole manga right there. It started rocky and eventually went to shit by refusing to break formula, though, you're right.
