Odin is back and ruler of Asgard.
Tyr died and he's now the consort and general for Hela
Balder is sorta dead, but just in Limbo fighting the World Eaters, they are not important.
Also thought about storytiming Fear itself...itself, but decided that all of this happens behind curtains anyways. So just have in mind that Cul the Serpent is going to start his war against the realms in Midgard.
I love this volume because it gives you all the information you need to know basically to understand Fear Itself and actually make it interesting. If I'm ever doing a MU read-through I would just read the JiM tie-in issues in place of Fear Itself. Fuck that comic.

All of them good choices, if you want JiM I recomend the omnibus, is really not that big or hard to read, and has the single best bound cover in the history of omnibi "A comedy in 30 parts or..."You'll have to wait till the end of JiM if you dont know what follows

JMS's run was about a new start for Asgard and the Asgardians, including totally resolving Odin's story. It feels like an editorial mandate we have to get him back.
A story about nuAsgard with Thor or Balder as king, trying to deal with all the ugliness crawling from the shadows now Odin is gone and Asgard being on Midgard without Odin to guide them (because he knows all the skeletons in which cupboard already) would be a fine story.
Im there with you, even when I try to avoid the horrors of Fraction's, it just show's its ugly head. Dont worry, Odin is not going to sit in that golden throne for long

Odin is afraid of the last time that his brother the serpent came to wage war, and almost ravaged all the realms. So knowing that he will strike midgard again, he just rather stop him in his tracks before things scalate, that means taking out Midgard so he's out of fear-fuel before reaching other realms.
Nightmare is just jealous that the serpent didnt invited him to play with the fear of the mortals.

Aren't all Asgardians essentially larger than any human or other humanoid aliens and thus all of them would be, by default, better endowed than anyone on Midgard?
That makes a lot of sense, except that is Sif, so she would be well aquainted to the girth of Asgardians, and Volstagg's does impress her. A lot.
