THANK A-YOU SO MUCH FOR TO WATCHING MY MOVIE
montage of every time someone says "super"
Literally no idea until we see a trailer, but I'm hoping it's entertaining
Standard.
likely just an okay movie
>What do you think of that Mario movie that's coming out?
>I wish it'd stay in.
>OHOHOHOHO!
Screenshot this, I think they're gonna try hard on this one (because it's mario) and it's actually gonna be good. Great, even.
Honestly if it were an animated adaptation of Superstar Saga that'd be pretty dope
I think Megaman765 should direct it.
45% on Rotten Tomatoes
6.7 on IMDb
53 on Metacritic
Largely forgotten about within months of release.
Before I pass any judgement, I need to know who's voicing Mario.
I kinda want the Italian gibberish from the M&L games in a movie. I just don't want Starlow in it to translate (though really, I can't think of anyone else. Too bad Nintendo doesn't remember Toadsworth)
While I'd love a good adaptation of SSS, its story assumes that audience is pretty well acquainted with the subject matter. And sure, millions upon millions of people are familiar with Mario, but you'd be dumbfounded at how many are also totally ignorant of him.
They're probably going to play it safe. Maybe even do a very loose adaptation of the first Super Mario Bros. Since that game doesn't exactly have a story, they can use it to properly introduce the universe rather than assume you're familiar with it. And if they're doing that, maybe Miyamoto's direct involvement means we'll finally get a canon origin story concerning how two Italian plumbers from Brooklyn got to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Or maybe we'll just get Toad Shenanigans the movie.
If it's not either Martinet or someone he's personally coached it'll be a mistake.
>not going for a joke referencing the franchise
You two fuckers have gotten old.
I think it's gonna be a living cringefest like that live action clusterfuck, albeit in different ways.
>Sounds like we need to give him some new material.
>Maybe something about growing mushrooms?
>Pretty sure he's seen his share of that material.
>OHOHOHOHO!
Fart jokes and poop jokes. And eating poop jokes.
Skabadadabadoobiedoopdubbabobblebebla...
Best case scenario? It ends up like Despicable Me in terms of quality.
Worst case? It’s Minions.
Toads will fart and dance
Disney is going to buy Super Mario Bros and try to make a new cinematic universe.
can't be worse than what's going on with the sonic movie
This is probably the most anxious I've ever been for the reveal of a film
My biggest hopes are that they don't go for Illumination's lowest common denominator stuff, or at least keep it to a minimum, and also that they don't make it too plain for Mario thematically. Like, of COURSE it's gonna have Bowser kidnapping Peach, but I just don't want this to end up being the kind of Mario homogenization that the New Super Mario Bros era brought about. You know what I mean? The stuff that forever changed Paper Mario.
It's a double-edged sword, but I hope that it somehow ends up evening out. Just for being a Mario movie, we all know that we're gonna just have to accept some weird shit, but I just hope it ends up being good.
10 to 15 years later, the next generation after zoomers will be making ironic memes about it.
Something, at some point, will fart, and it'll 100% be in the trailer.
Same with the future shrek movies they're planning on butchering.
Its annoying because illumination has good animation and visuals and atleast one thing in every movie(havent seen life of pets or sing and never will) they make can be funny but they choose the child only humor. At most they'll be "it alright"
Its cringe will produce normie memes for atleast a month
>first Hollywood Pokemon movie
>chooses to adapt a 2016 digital only JP exclusive game
What are the odds of them adapting the M&L games instead? It's foolproof.
>Bowser starts twerking
>cut to a clip from an obviously unrelated scene of Toad saying "awkwaaaaaaard"
Are you just making this thread for shits and giggles or has there been recent word on it development?
If theres a scene with multiple toads I gurantee one of them will look like a toad minion hybrid cause "lol xD super special reference"
illumination was bragging about how involved miyamoto was in making the movie and if you know about miyamoto you'd know he's gone completely insane and tries to sterilize everything in the mario universe and remove everything that doesn't fit in the standard mold
so the movie will probably be just gameplay footage of super mario bros 1
youtube.com
Is it confirmed to be animated?
yeah this is my biggest fear of this movie, other than "Illumination being Illumination"
There's stuff about how it's not all Miyamoto or how it's not all the "fault" of certain people or ideals but regardless of where the "blame" lies, the fact still remains that ever since New Super Mario Bros, Mario's universe has been getting a little TOO homogenized to the point where something as unimaginable as Paper Mario Sticker Star actually happened, and to the point where not even the RPG Mario games are allowed to get as weird as they want to, which just feels like overall bad taste
It's not JP exclusive, it just took a long time to come out here.
That greentext is magical.
>Your face when Charles Martinet doesn't voice any characters
Hopefully just an animated remake of this
We could only be so lucky.
>Comparing Bee movie to Illumination
The movie will be the last time Martinet will be voicing Mario. And it will be Bee Movie bad.
desu Martinet is fucking overrated
I respect the dude greatly but Mario sounds like a dying cancer patient in the newer games sometimes
Literally anyone could do a good Mario impression after he's left the role and sound less like an eighty year old
I'm expecting it to be mostly okay but forgettable
Really the biggest thing about the movie isn't itself but the potential for more Nintendo IPs getting adaptations
>tfw no Ocarina of Time trilogy with Ruto voiced by Jessica DiCicco
Same
The magic of Mario has always been that it's a whimsical world where anything and everything can happen, it was a blank canvas. As Ninty has matured though they've gotten rigid and dictate what Mario SHOULD be and it's really sad Nowadays it seems like the only Mario games that are allowed to innovate in terms of setting and characters are the mainline games like Odyssey
OW! MY FIREBALLS!
They've still got it.

>If it's not either Martinet or someone he's personally coached it'll be a mistake.
I'm assuming that since it's nintendo it will be in Japanese first, right?
Absolutely not, Mario games don't even have a japanese dub
that's because they don't speak actual lines, just little sound bytes.
i dont think his one-dimensional Mario voice would work in a Despicable Me movie. Martinet would either need to use a different character voice or Illumination needs to hire some quippy, down-to-earth type actor
Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a pleasant surprise actually.
Relevent image.
>Mario eats a super mushroom
>All the Toads nearby look at Mario with faces filled with terror/disgust
>An unseen baby cries
>One of them faints
>Then the rest of the Toads scream/run away in a panic
OPEN THE DOOR
GET ON THE FLOOR
think of it this way.
nintendo were spergs over a few seconds of bowser being put in the wrekt raph movie just imagine that kind of strangle hold for 90mins?
if anything this movie will prove that animation studio isnt a piece of shit
