In this one instance (and it was an earlier instance before the full scope of Mable being awful really came into view) I don't really have much venom for her. It was between making his sister not miserable and doing something that mildly impressed Wendy one time. It's a stupid thing, Waddles the pig, but it was something that made her incredibly happy and we see that it wasn't a one and done interest she had. She fucking loved that pig.

Oh, for fuck's sake. There are a lot of valid examples of her being horrible and Dipper sacrificing, but this episode is the one case where Dipper was the asshole. She legitimately won Waddles, and Dipper wanted to dangerously fuck around with the time space continuum using stolen shit to steal another man's girlfriend. A girl he realistically had no chance with until they're older who would be pissed off at him if she found out he did this.

This was really the only episode where Dipper is clearly in the wrong and it would have been a shitty thing to do to Mabel, Robbie, Wendy, and even Blendin.

She "learned" that lesson like twice already in the actual show, but it means nothing because she just went back to being the same character as before. Character development only matters if the character in question uses what they learned later on. Her learning that lesson in the comics is pointless if there isn't another story where she can actually apply it.
