When I was younger I watched the show monk, and from the first episode it was obvious who killed his wife wouldn't be answered until the final episode. It lasted 8 seasons and over 125 episodes.

Anyone who finished ladybug season 1 and thought this show would end the romance/identities/hawkmoth defeated plots before the end are officially stupid.

Hawkmoth could go and be replaced with a different villain, and they could try writing Mari and Adrien trying to maintain a relationship.

Most cartoons follow this formula, the entire power rangers as a franchise does this. I remember things from the mummy cartoon all the way to samurai jack.

All those shows made it clear these important things will never happen until the very end of the show. Ladybug fans seem to be desperately trying to pretend their show is different.

This show shares a ton of DNA with code lyoko (not just because thomas worked on both) and that showed stuck to it's basic formula for 95 episodes.

Hell, jeremy zag's mentioned hawkmoth getting the ability to akumatize objects so I assume they're turning him into xana. Countdown to chloe's bear getting akumatized as a callback to the first episode of code lyoko.

Most of those cartoons aren't going to clock in at over 100 episodes though.

LB is getting 5 seasons, maybe more. That's along time to keep the status quo and they're already starting to run out of ideas in season 3. It was expected to run for 2 at most probably getting cancelled after 1 because networks suck with action cartoons these days, not 5+ and a movie. They definitely didn't expect this massive popularity.

They planned for six seasons and a movie from the very beginning, but it's clear they overestimated their ability to keep up with that plan.

Eh, I'd say they've done well enough of a job. They still got 5 powerups and 12 miraculouses, apparently hawkmoth's getting more powerful and mayura's got at least one episode this season (I think 2-3 more based on episode titles).

I do think the romance should be mostly ignored and more focused on the side characters since at least they can go some where. I'd rather watch an episode based around ayla/nino's relationship evolving then more shit around adrien or marinette.

But stop having every episode revolve around Marinette if they can't do anything with her. I know she's the lead, but that doesn't mean she has to the focus of EVERY episode, especially if it's the same Adrien sperging that goes nowehere.

Granted they did change it in season 3 so that her spazing and obsession is no longer played for laughs but starting to be a flaw actively annoying people and getting her into trouble, but still that's not much.

Of course they shouldn't reveal their identities, dummies. If they know who each other are, Hawk Moth is literally one mind-control or akumatization from completely annihilating them both. Obviously it hasn't happened yet for plot-related reasons, but the threat is absolutely constant. Sure, an akumatization is already pretty much a game-ender if it hits Marinette, but you halve the number of targets if Adrien doesn't know her identity. Frankly, with Chloe being out in the open, Hawk Moth should already be exploiting them way more than he is.

Compare that to the potential benefits. They have no particular reason to believe that they actually know each other and that they could help each other out in any way outside of costume. What are they going to do, exactly, under the assumption that they don't know each other very well if at all? 90% of the time Marinette and Adrien aren't even in close proximity when a monster attacks, so imagine how meaningless it is to know their identities if they're nowhere near each other.

Plus, just for plot reasons, the 4-dimensional romance is fucking important. Its development is the key tension of the series. Throwing that away because "they don't have any particularly good or bad reasons to hide their identities" is foolish.

They've kinda done that with chloe, I'm pretty sure despair bear had more screen time for chloe then the two main characters did, and of course her 3 parter. They could easily give ayla a focus episode.

Still, Code Lyoko did change some as it went along, bringing out Aelita and revealing that XANA was getting stronger each time they turned back the clock.

Adrien/Chat desperatly needs more development. Make the guy learn he can't be clingy as fuck, have Adrien learn the lesson of the day, but something that isn't about his family or Mari/LB. He's already better than your useless standard love interest, but, boy, he needs to evolve a little more.

Adrien suffers from the fact that they stopped having regular school scenes after season 1. Now they're only shown in class if it's important to the episode. Ms Bustier was only in 4 episodes total in season 2, which shows how little the school was focused.

But since Adrien is only allowed out of the house for school that means that it seriously cut down on his appearances out costume as he now typically just shows up briefly at home when the Akuma shows up and turns into CN and spends the rest of the ep fighting.

CL changed it up every season. Xana's goal slightly shifted and the formula was a little different, season 2 had Aelita out, season 3 introduced William and had Xana frequently brainwash Aelita to start deleting parts of it, and season 4 had Willaim as an antagonist as well as new abilities.

It wasn't much, but it did keep it somewhat fresh.

Ladybug tries to do this, but in practice the new elements are mostly ignored in favor of the same stuff from season 1. 3 new heroes and 1 new villain were added in season 2, yet 9 episodes into season 3 and they haven't appeared once yet, other than in flashbacks and briefly on LB's phone last episode.

Reminder that the show by all means is called "Miraculous Ladybug". The subtitle having Chat mentioned is only to make it feel more gender-neutral.

Heroes Day didn't count since it being Hawkmoth's near moment of triumph meant everyone almost immediately got taken out to back LB and CN into a corner and the 5 person Lucky Charm failed before it even got started.

Ladybug is way more competent and cool headed than clumsy sperging Marinette, and Chat Noir is way more goofy and bumbling than reserved serious Adrien.

It's more obvious in the French dub as their voices in and out of costume really do sound significantly different there.

According to the spoilers it's actually LB and CN that get drained, and that's how their powersets swap when they undrain them.

Regardless, the other three heroes will no doubt be completely useless, because nothing is allowed to overshadow Ladybug and Chat.

More like nobody's allowed to overshadow Ladybug. Chat was pretty useless in the other heroes debut episodes, while they were at least fairly helpful.

Then again for all that they were instantly sidelined in Mayura, in the final confrontation Hawkmoth beat the shit out of LB and CN and the other 3 ended up saving them. In fact the only one that actually managed to mildly injure Hawkmoth was Carapace oddly enough.

I wouldn't count on much from Sabrina in the cool department. Just an excuse to swap powers. They already have another Akuma that gets a similar powerset in the season finale and they'll probably put most of the action into that.

Miraculer probably will try to take down Queen Bee first for personal reasons. Maybe it will be the first time miraculous holder losing their miraculous in combat.

More likely they made the bee design and "wrapped" it around chloe's "naked" model. This isn't my first rodeo in 3d modeling where a character gets a camel toe.

It mostly the result of skintight suits since 90% of the time they're literally just a texture placed onto the skin. Think of it as changing chloe's skin instead of adding clothing. The worst was edi in mass effect because her outfit had the toe when just standing still, here it's result of the "skin" bunching when her leg raised.

Guess no felt like checking chloe's crotch during this scene.

I've always considered writing a fic about Rena Rouge and Lady WiFi as the main protagonist/antagonist. It would play out as something like:

It's a mix of the LB and Dragon suit, not actually the dragon. Besides, the design changes regarding what the wielder wants, so it's not impossible for it to be different, even if it has the same collor scheme.

Logically someone has to use the Dragon first as Adrien sharing with Luka right there, but Marinette running off to get the Dragon which has never been used before wouldn't line up right.

And really it would be really odd for Adrien's finale power up to be used twice before hand but Marinette's to just be pulled out for the finale only. Even if it's not Kagami the Dragon would have be used at some point earlier in the season for it to be called back to otherwise it would be Mousebug they'd use.
