DCSHG is a slice of life show which starts with silly shenanigans like the horse show before they introduce anything interesting. Tangled is a plot driven/continuity type of show with filler inbetween a lot of episodes. It starts after the movie and before the wedding short.

Well that went the most boring way it could have.

I'm disappointed that we didn't learn anything about what went down behind the door.

The ending sequence went exactly how I imagined it to go, but I'm still pretty hyped.

S2 was mostly meh. Still enjoyable but nowhere near as consistent as S1. Saying around most of it was just fucking around on their road trip with nothing very meaningful happening would not be inaccurate. And if I'm being quite honest the finale wasn't too great either. A lot of its enjoyment seems to just come from the twist's shock value and not much else. Eugene's song is absolutely phenomenal and probably sits alongside Ready As I'll Ever Be as my favorites, but it has little impact when he just gets over his inner turmoil and questioning whether his love with Raps was real pretty quickly. The episode is also not really built off an entire season of buildup since Edmund never shows up earlier on and we don't really get a reason to care for him like we did for Varian. Overall it wasn't bad, but it's very clear S3 will probably be much more interesting to watch than this was.

We had episodes in the past that were mostly Cass POV and she seemed a very different person

I do believe it was genuinely innocent and that she just wanted to show Raps something cool and got caught up in all of this wild shit. When she had the happiness idol she imagined spending time with her father who's proud of her, reminds Rapunzel that she put her ambitions and life in Corona on hold, and has been fairly cautious on the whole quest thing

Her growing resentment of Raps' impulsiveness was definitely organic, which probably piled up with her insecurity and desire for recognition to make her vulnerable to whatever was behind the door

Similar but somehow different. Varian’s betrayal arc was clear and not complicated. Also he is not a very close friend of Raps at all.
Cass is Raps’ closest female friend and they had couple of friendship development episodes. It is very mysterious that what happened behind the door of shell house to cause her change. Her betrayal could be something reasonable sacrifice for saving Rapunzel’s life from touching the moonstone but not villainous motivation.

This so much. Also Eugene got over his confusion by talking with Pascal. I mean, he's my favorite Disney mascot but he should have talked things through with Rapunzel in the first place, not with her pet. Also his decision was rather simple: should I trust the woman I've known and traveled this long or the man who abandoned me, seems obviously unhinged and I've known for 5 minutes?

Second, the "betrayal" dilemma got resolved too quickly with Rapunzel finding out the note. It would have been better to see Eugene acting on it and Cassandra showing more hints of her betrayal during the episode. The way they played it and by making her more trustworthy made it more obvious she was going to be the traitor for that "shock" factor which lacked impact due to how obvious it was. Then again...maybe 7 year olds are impressed by this masterpiece of storytelling provided they haven't already been jaded by all the plethora of twist villains in anime and cartoons nowadays.

Finally, what's up with Cassandra commenting that she's the most agile in the group? They got freakin Flynn Ryder in their team. I wish Eugene had more of a combat or recognition role because he's been losing most of his screentime to Cassandra. If he's not gonna be in combat, at least let him be the "cynical brains" guy like Sokka in Avatar.

They originally planned that. Each episode on a different location. Sadly budget constraints forced them to stay at the same one for several episodes. A shame really because I liked the originality of them, especially the mansion. That's probably the only location I didn't mind them spending several episodes in.

She's been ruining Cassandra and Varian's life since she met them. If she hadn't longed for adventure, Cassandra wouldn't have taken her out of Corona without permission. If they hadn't gone, Rapunzel wouldn't have touched the rocks and met Varian, who wouldn't have tried to help and end up killing his own father.

It also wouldn't have turned them to that trip where they would end up ruining Cass's hand and future and leading to where they are now.

I started this show a few days ago after the curiosity from how much these threads pop up and how much you guys love the show. Watched the pilot and spent the week or so watching the whole thing and I don't regret it one bit. The thing is, it's really one of those shows you HAVE to watch yourself to see if you'll like it or not. It's pretty hard to sell a Disney Princess show with DEEPEST to most people, myself included. But it's pretty great regardless.

This is exactly what I thought it was going to be. That all of the Moonstone kingdom people and their kids or other descendants were messed up because of the "radioactivity" in some way. Varian's blue streak was a sign of the "radioactivity" but they've all got it to some degree was my theory.

She kind of did fail to be supportive or fair to both Cassandra and Varian at points and that might have turned out to be a problem. I don't like some of the ways she's treated Cass in this season. It's very understandable because she's so young and not only sheltered, she was an actual prisoner, but it's a problem.

There are better ways to test your friend than letting her risk her life on an empty chasm filled with pointy rocks. Worse of all, she didn't even take off her armor. Eugene had his chance to shine there given how agile he was in the movie.

A big thing with the Varian situation was also that not only did she not help him (Understandable considering the high-stakes situation when Varian asked), but also didn't bother to try checking on him after her own situation had been resolved.

I think Disney's shot in their foot was doing little to nothing at all to indicate that this show was less like their other princess shows which are quite definitively for little girls with zero overlap into an older audience (Sofia the First, Elena of Avalor, etc) and more like their princess films where little girls may be the target demo, but they're certainly not the only people who can enjoy them. When you set a precedent that your tv princess shows are always gonna be for babbies, of course the one that actually wants to reach more demographics will slip through the cracks of the public eye. That's why Disney+ is a perfect opportunity to get this show's online presence to a much better level since the service doesn't carry the same baggage regular TV has. Plus the mere act of just putting it on the service's front page whenever a new season drops or whatever would do wonders for it viewership wise piquing the interest of people who wouldn't have watched it otherwise. But this means we have to pitch in too and boost the streaming numbers way up since in the world of streaming that's all the suits really care about.

It's a damn shame this song didn't have better buildup. It's really such a beautiful song and personally I think it stands alongside Ready As I'll Ever Be as fantastic movie-tier songs. But they REALLY needed to drive home the hopelessness of realizing your independent life was predestined all along way better. Elsa is properly (Read: Royally) educated geometry/math nerd, Rapunzel is a talented girl who was robbed of the chance of proper education, but i very devious and "street smart" (which is ironic since she was sheltered.) and a fairly good artist.

Rapunzel is definitely the more talented one considering the sheer ease she takes to everything, so she she is definitely more of a wunderkind, but part of that is having had more opportunity to show that off in the series, but Elsa is probably more "intelligent" cause MUH AUTISM, but i doubt there would be a conflict over who is smarter/more talented if they met, if anything they would gush and develop mutual respect over how they see beauty in things they create, frankly i think they would hit off really well. Which obviously means they need to be on opposite sides of a war at some point for DRAMA.

It seems like Raps' friend betrayals come from people she promises something very important yet inconsequential to in current matters. But when shit hits the fan that promise is no longer viable in the grand scheme of things, yet also most important to the person she promised to at that moment. Basically Raps needs to stop making promises for everything.

Guys, I got it. Cass has no intention of hurting Rapunzel or anyone. Hear me out. This is my prediction/theory.

What went behind the magical door was what Anons described : Cass saw what would her life look like if she was the one who saved the Princess: glory, recognition, secured position and all the other good stuff. Obviously that was never meant for her, not with Rapunzel. But it made her think. Surely there are some other princesses to save, other ways to gain that glory. But that requires power she didn't have. So the house told her about moonstone and powers it possesses. It would help her further her goals.

She used Rapunzel to do it, but not to get revenge but to claim her destiny her own. "nothing personnel" if you will.

Fast-forward to now and Cass is doing pretty much what you'd call a superhero work. Going from place to place, saving people, etc, in the process gaining all that she'd dreamed of: glory, fame and whatnot.

So, imo she's not gonna pick up a fight with Punzie but simply fuck off to do her own thing.

Well duh. But it makes for an easily fixable situation for Cass. It helps that she wouldn't be doing anything actually evil so Raps and co. would have a hard time arguing with her methods even if what she did was kind of a dick move.

It's only when she discovers that Rapunzel is in danger of dying unless the moonstone is defeated she must face a dilemma, is a friend's life worth all the glory in the world.
