Both plans were completely stupid though, and only happened because the script put them into a contrived slow-moving chase scenario. Consider that the two best options are a risky infiltration with a hacker you don't know, and crawling away on smaller ships and hoping the First Order is too dumb to notice. Everyone involved became an idiot for the sake of facilitating this poorly conceived plotline.

Nothing about the damn movies adds up. The FO comes and sees them getting ready to leave, rather than blow up the fleet they shoot the planet.

Rather than just use their superior numbers and enter into a ship battle they instead relay on a slow charging doom laser.

Rather than sending ships ahead with hyper drive to pincher the enemy, they are content to just follow them.

They aren’t constantly on alert for ships which means that anyone is able to leave the fleet and Rey is able to just get on board.

And then on the Resistance’s side we have the fact that they could apparently just leave, but instead of taxing everybody off in groups we have the “let’s hope they don’t have eyes” plan.

Hell, why couldn’t they just go and get fuel.

DJ seemed like it was trying to be yet another one of those weird subversions. Shady looking hacker turns out to be a good guy with a heart of gold but actually he's exactly what he seemed, a shady looking hacker who betrayed the group. But it was just so sloppily executed.

Force-sensing has always been shown to be pretty inconsistent though, it only ever seems to work when the plot demands it. Assuming that the Kylo/Rey/Snoke part continues uninterrupted, Snoke dies around the same time that Hux runs the decloaking scan. That would just leave Kylo, who might pick up on the escape ships, and then have to deal with Rey trying to stop him from shooting them, which is basically what happens anyway.

A second reason is because officers required to make judgement calls need to know the wider tactical and strategic picture, so they don't fuck it up out of ignorance.

The third, and most important, reason is so an officer in a junior position can potentially take over a senior one if the senior officer gets taken out of action. If the junior doesn't know, they will fuck it up.
Given that the reason Admiral Tumblr is in charge is due to 90% of the command structure getting wiped out, and that there are barely 30 officers left in their briefing, failing to take this precaution is such a catastrophic fuck up that she should have been thrown out the airlock when Leia woke up.

Meaning the fleet has less protection and as a result got killed easily. Including Ackbar and the others, with Leia at risk and nearly killed. Leaving little to no fighters protecting the fleet. And Holdo was there to fill that post since there's nobody left to take command. And if you pad attention in the beginning of the movie, most of the fighters Poe got killed were from Holdo's fleet. So she knows the kind of behaviour he will do and will get them killed.

Finn and Rose should have gotten the one codebreaker and instead got a different one. The mistake on that part is that Poe was the one that leaked the information. Which is exactly why Holdo never told him. Poe's a hot-headed fuck up that needs to learn the hard way in order to be a good leader

Meaning they are left with only a small fleet. Because of that Leia specifically ordered Poe to disable the dreadnaught so they can escape with what fighters they have to protect the fleet. Poe ignored that order and proceed to destroy the dreadnaught. And they succeed, but at the cost of most of their fighters. Meaning the fleet's defenses are weak. Had Poe followed Leia's order they would still have fighters to protect the fleet if they are at risk of another attack. Which is why Leia demoted Poe. And since they have the dreadnaught plans they can just destroy it another time with a much larger force

Since the Resistance have less fighters the fleet is vunurable to attack, which happen as Kylo and his forces easily killed nearly all of them and caused more damage with more people killed. That in turn got Ackbar, and many others killed in the process. With Leia survived, but exausted and injured. This would have been prevented had Poe not got most of their fighters killed

Holdo who took command after that reprimand Poe for his recklessnes, as some of the fighters from the beginning were from her fleet. One of them is Rose's sister. She knows Poe's type and she doesn't trust him because he never earned it. And because he's demoted she's not oblidged to tell a less-ranked officer

Holdo only told a few people of the plan, which we saw the rest of the Resistance personnel boarding smaller ships. They are equipped with stealth tech the Tico sisters developed to avoid radar detection. Poe being arrogant misunderstood the plan told Finn and Rose about it, which DJ overheard and gave that information to the First Order, which they track using a different method and shot the small ships down. This is why she never told him because she's preventing a leak, and a possible spy from finding out. Rose mentioned it after meeting Finn

Poe's recklessness started all this. He fucked up

Explain why should a higher ranked officer should tell a lower rank officer who was recently demoted after a reckless stunt tha got most of your people killed. Would you trust a person like that?

They didn’t lose any fighters, just the four bombers. The very slow bombers that would have never made it made back to the fleet at their moving speeds. They lose all their fighters when Kylo blows up the hangar bay as they are getting ready to scramble.

Poe disabling the dreadnaught would have been meaningless, because all he did was take out it’s anti-lightship weaponry so the bombers could do their run. The FO has more than one dreadnaught.

If the dreadnaught had survived, and somehow didn’t take it’s shot over the planet, it would have destroyed the fleet after the jump. There was no stealth tech mentioned in the film, they literally just assume that the enemy isn’t going to actively scan for them.

I can’t tell if you are shitposting or if this is one of those times where your brain rewrites a plot to make it make sense.
