it's not

Snyder damaged the brand

If a company has released products that are all objectively bad, people will stop supporting said company.

>drinking all that liquid

how does he pee in that suit?

It's not. A product doesn't need to be star wars meets the simpsons to be a success.

He doesnt

Captain Marvel was better

you wish it was underperforming

Critic and audience scores argue otherwise.

sorry more people are passionate about Marvel movies and more eager to share their thoughts about it which reflects in the large number of scores?

This.
Using one's own eyes and ears argue that it was.

Attached: 1554831098260.jpg (618x577, 94K)

He just pees himself and evaporates the pee with electricity. Either that or Stamina of Atlas gives him a bladder of steel, and then he has a 30 minutes long piss when he transforms back into Billy.

It's too good for modern audiences

Spider-verse making less than 400 million while minions made one billion made me realize the cinema audience has indeed a terrible taste for movies.

The opinion of one (1) doesn't matter much.

Bevause it got squashed between 2 MCU movies, bad marketing, and a niche character.

But that latter is weird considering even Ant-Man is gonna out-gross him.

>Someone makes a thread about Shazam
>((((Someone)))) makes a thread about it underperforming
How's that mouse cock taste my dude?

Attached: smug slurping.jpg (1125x2097, 185K)

I don't know why.
Best Movie I've seen in YEARS
Feels like raimi Spiderman all over again.

Attached: 1495172629377.gif (360x203, 1.17M)

And yet you fags can't make any points about what made Captain Memevel good and Chadzam bad aside from "muh billion dollar box office performance".

yet people can't make points about what makes her movie bad besides feet pics

One of abilities of Stamina of Atlas is hyper-metabolism, so not exactly bladder of steel but close enough.

It's mediocre, but that gets high marks for people who already want to like it. Better than the first two Thor movies, but that's a really low bar.

It's a bland movie with an unlikeable main character that coasts on brand recognition and the performances of the supporting cast.

because he's not as appealing as his fans wish he was

It's doing okay for someone nobody knows.
>Critics
The scores aren't far from each other , still in that 6-7 area most capeshit lands. If you trust them they put Shazam on pair with Mr Doctor. Nothing amazing.
>Audience
BO and legs speak better here cause now you have autists from both sides spamming votes.

My normie friends make fun of it because it's a DC movie. They don't give a shit the trailers are tonally different, that it's not Snyder, that it actually is a decent kids movie. The brand is that damaged.

Marvel did a good job of making people understand what the MCU is, and unlike every other cinematic universe it actually has its hooks in people. Regardless of quality or word of mouth, this is how Disney's Marvel films manage to be successful even if they go with obscure and supposedly unmarketable characters. The DCEU did not manage that, and the now that they aren't trying to link all these movies together each one has to stand on its own two feet. Shazam got a more modest budget of 80-100 million in order to account for this.

>Feels like raimi Spiderman all over again.
it feels like Raimi made a nickelodeon movie IMO

its adapting literately the worst written version of Shazam ever
Geoff Johns should neck himself

make fun of them for taking capeshit seriously

The movie is absolute garbage without Levi. He carries the film and then some, and I really like Mark Strong, but he was wasted in the film.

Nice try Ladderbro, but everyone knows you don't have friends.

It's performing better than Hellboy Reboot and the Pet Sementary remake despite ladderbro swearing more people wanted to see those.

But...Sonic...

China didn't like it.

>Boring bitch main character
>Obvious feminist pandering
>No arcs
>Huge-ass letdown with Fury's eye

Only reason people gave a damn is because of Endgame and normies falling for media shills.

What does Geoff Johns have to do with Shazam missteps like the Wizard being a demonfucker or Mary getting BLACKED?

Did you not watch the movie? He just turns back into Billy.

I do. I call them faggots and laugh at them

it made its budget (production AND advertising) back in the first two days, its doing fine

Call them sidekicks

My brother said the same thing when I asked him about whether he wanted to see it or not. He doesn't even read comics but he's invested in Marvel movies to the point where he's watching trailer dissection videos and willing to shit on DC films just for being DC. It's honestly kind of obnoxious but he at least said he'd watch it on a theater discount day.

He probably won't like it though
it's not Snyder-bad but it's too different from usual Marvel movies and you know how marveldrones can be.
I personally thought it was just ok.

The film is currently sitting at $200mil, and was at $150 mil as of Monday morning

It cost $80mil to make

It's been gravy since last Saturday

Fpbp

Looks like a sitcom

A fucking terrible release date mixed with some pretty lackluster marketing.

Who knew that tickets for the biggest film ever going on sale the day before your film releases could really fuck you up? That said if I see one more faggot using Yea Forums's "rules" for the box office I'm going to punch their mother in the mouth. You guys know using that that Infinity War is less profitable than IT?

Is it? IW likely made about 1-1.5 billion in raw profit.

That is your opinion and it's... That. But know it's the minority.

Superhero movie fatigue

Attached: ?.gif (300x204, 1.36M)

I can't wait to see you try to explain how every Marvel movie makes a billion this year.

>Who knew that tickets for the biggest film ever going on sale the day before your film releases could really fuck you up?
Shazam has literally 3 weeks to itself being that Hellboy sucks and Pet Sematary was riding on IT's fumes. And it's already done fine for itself.

You don't get tired of good movies. If only DC had one.

Those are a lot more serious and people like the story they have

Careful, talk like that can get you in trouble here in the DC hugbox.

stop replying to yourself

No it isn't in real life but in Yea Forums meme land it is. You see guys arguing that marketing is always equal to budget. Infinity War's budget ran anywhere between 316m to 400. So when you use the top end, double it for marketing, 50% DOM, 40% foreign and 25% china IW made 832. Then you minus the total budget and marketing and Disney got a measly 32.7mil in profit. After all the cuts and costs IT's profit was 171mil
Now the problem is we know that the marketing wasn't that high (The production probably wasn't either) It was 150mil and we also know that 40mil of that was paid for by Coca Cola. So if Infinity War had that for marketing do we really think Shazam had 100Mil for theirs? Or that all the marketing came out of WB's own pocket?

I've never seen a board so ignorant about their own topic than Yea Forums

OHNONONONO! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO FLOP!

Attached: 62E06352-C6A5-42DE-B79A-90909A50E7C3.jpg (689x259, 95K)

People thought Thanos was Hellboy. The public does't know this shit.

and foreign hasn't been updated since wednesday

forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2019/04/07/shazam-opens-to-thunderous-159-million-with-open-road-ahead/#50e1fe9027f6
>the film will break even at somewhere around $250+/- million
And it did

Because it wasn't an MCU movie, it was good but the Marvel Studios logo bring money.

yep
by their math Tomb Raider lost 100 million, yet the sequel has just been greenlighted

Also, Ready Player One did worse than Shazam will do outside of China where they only get nickels, on a 175 million budget and much more marketed, and it's deemed a success and is also getting a sequel.

>2nd weekend not even counted yet

Okay, so?

an to illustrate how China's box office is illusory, according to Deadline Aquaman made 260 million in profit, only 10 million more than Wonder Woman which made 325 million less on the worldwide box office.

it only needs to make 400 million to break even... not sure it can desu

Why does the Asian kid always have to be the genius hacker nerd?

it doesn't need 400 million, retard

prove it, show me your calcs

Because Marvel tipped the scales.

They did the work early on creating more hits than misses, paid attention to what their fans wanted to see, passed critical mass, and now they have a literal fucktons of fanboys who will throw their money at the screen no matter how SHIT the movie is.

Conversely; DC stsrted late, created more misses than hits, didnt listen to their fans when they said they were tired of the same edgy morose bullshit and now no matter how good the movie is it's not enough to compere with Marvels numbers.

Shazam didn't under-perform it just cant perform to the artificially inflated standards set by Marvel.

Attached: 20190128_105313.jpg (433x335, 59K)

You wrote a lot of words for what is essentially "Marvel created good will, DC did not"

That's good because it's not getting anywhere close to it.

marvel created zombies
the "it sucks because it's DC and I'm Marvel guy" mentality was enforced through the media by Disney, it wasn't just a matter of some DC movies being bad
I know people who think the good DC movies like Wonder Woman and Aquaman are actually from Marvel.

Most normalfags don't know the difference between Marvel and DC.

I went to Shazam expecting it to be a fantastic movie based on the hype and it wasn't, it was just as mediocre as Captain Marvel, but in different ways.

Captain Marvel played it ridiculously safe while Shazam was pretty much the kind of superhero movie you could expect out of the 90s with so much product placement, a dragging plot, and made so cheaply that they couldn't get a single great action scene. I would have rather Shazam win the final fight alone than using the Captain Marvel Family in this one.

It's better than most of the other DCEU movies but that's no high bar.

>some DC movies being bad
DC has way more bad movies than good ones. Like Simpsons level bad to good.

fuck you

There were so many lazy writing cliches. It would make for a great drinking game.

Well, at least it's not doing as bad as The First Avenger

>the film will break even at somewhere around $250+/- million

bull, the advertising budget was less than the production budget, and the production budget was only 80 million

He's entitled to his opinion though I disagree. I didn't feel their was overly to much product placement and I enjoyed the action even though it wasn't as bombastic as other superhero movies. I actually felt Billy was in danger when Sivana was drowning him and he was desperately screaming "Shazam". It was much better than Superman and Zod slapping into each other like a couple of indestructible bricks

They know enough

Attached: l-7639-if-marvel-and-dc-comics-were-brothers.jpg (700x589, 204K)

The plot didn't drag in any way and the movie didn't have "tons" of product placement.

>It would make for a great drinking game.
Maybe if you're suicidal.

You're right. It's doing much worse.

But Hades was fun

Thats sound like it could either be funny or rage inducing. Source?

>the advertising budget was less than the production budget
You would think, but then you would also think DC would be smart enough to not launch a failure of a streaming service with absolutely no content for the first year.

Attached: q4xz1hb794m21.jpg (2048x1536, 425K)

They did not. Most thought it was Red Skull.

Yeah the service that failed so hard it's launching more shows and just cast Batman for season 2 of Titans

>people saying "it feels like older capeshit" like that's a bad thing
automatically makes it more rewatchable for decades to come than the mass produced capeshit we get nowadays

Attached: 1437875539602.png (576x592, 345K)

Because it stars a Wh*te guy.

>DC has way more bad movies than good ones
Justice League, Green Lantern......uhhhh

DC didn't start with Green Lantern. They made plenty of shit films. But Marvel had a bunch of shitty films as well. A lot of which Feige was involved with so he learned from them

Shazam will most definitely break even and do as well as WB needs it to do. At the very least, it’ll make enough money to justify a sequel and the Black Adam solo movie.

Attached: 9290B604-9724-4235-96F3-91F1E1FD16BF.jpg (309x270, 10K)

user. Dwayne Johnson alone justifies a Black Adam movie. Possibly the 3rd biggest star in Hollywood.

He’s honestly got the best body and face to do it. Throw some hair on him and you have a 10/10 Black Adam.

Why are you this obsessed with playing nerd fantasy football with comic book shit? Did you binge Entourage between the dryspells thinking you're Hollywood accountant bigshot using these retarded Yea Forums meme economics? Googling Box Office Mojo and Wikipedia doesn't make you Ari Gold. You're fucking Turtle.

Attached: 1554605683208.png (498x293, 161K)

I think he will look pretty retarded if they give him Black Adam hair

Third act besides some scenes fucking sucks.
Villain goes to pretty good to a fucking terminator joke in 3 scenes.

Steel, Jonah Hex, Supergirl, Catwoman,Superman 3, Superman 4, Swamp Thing, Return of Swamp Thing,Constantine, RED, RED 2, The Losers, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Joker, Teen Titnas Go to the Movies, Watchmen, Dark Knight Rises, The Kitchen, Superman Returns, Shazam, and more.

it has already broken even

the sequel has already been ordered

But China is obsessing over the little boys and shipping them. The "Billy/Freddy" tag on weibo has millions of views, so surely some of them do like it?

He IS Captain Marvel

Come on user you literally just had a thread for that.

Attached: 1555205215714.jpg (1100x733, 558K)

that was his plan all along

>Carolposters with the disgusting fetish again

Yes it does. 100 million prodction budget, and another 100 million for marketing means they spent 200 mill. Studios and cinemas split profits in half so right now the studio has so far only made 100 million, so the moviw needs to make another 200 million so the studio can break even

>and another 100 million for marketing
Source?

They don't give out numbers for marketing, but it's always thought the standard blockbuster is using around that number.

They haven't announced a single thing since Stargirl and the numbers don't lie.

Attached: $400k.png (1087x912, 265K)

He doesn't have one. See earlier in the thread. Infinity Wars marketing was 150mil, the most expensive of any Marvel film. Shazam wouldn't be anywhere close to that

I'm a marvelfag and going to see this tomorrow.

doesnt need to pump fake sales like the mouse

Not really.

It made enough money for them to greenlight a sequel.

I don't own stock in WB, so nothing else really matters to me.

Who preorders tickets? Movies are digitally distributed to theaters now. If they sell out all planned showings they'll just create more on the spot until every room in the theater is booked up.

Then why did Wreck it Ralph get a sequel despite losing Disney at least 20mil?

It's literally performing above tracking is expected to stay #1 at the BO until Avengers arrive thanks to Hellboy shitting the bed. A sequel is guaranteed at this point.

Attached: hellboy-9.jpg?w=1000&h=563&crop=1.jpg (1000x563, 644K)

sequel was announced a week ago

Hellboy shit the bed harder than I expected it to. It's looking at just over 12mil now. I wonder how it's doing in other countries because in mine it's getting fucked in the ass by Shazam and that has to compete with Lego 2 for the family audience (I don't know why we got that so late)

Oh man they announced a sequel to Cyborg! Was the first one any good?

>The Spider-Verse sequel will never happen

Attached: fY4aJp0.jpg (499x480, 64K)

I hate it when my normie friend who's an MCU fan asks me if I'm a DC or Marvel guy, tribalism is the sign of a corporate slave.

It's underperforming if you compare it to a post 2012 MCU movie sans Ant-Man. It's underperforming if you compare it to it's fellow DCEU movies. It's underperforming if you compare it to Alita and Solo.

It's NOT underperforming when you compare it on it's profitablity. It was made on a ridiculously small budget to the point that it's gonna break even soon. But if your AT&T, it's a PR embarrassment when your cornerstone franchise DCEU is technically not a financial disaster even though it's gonna make less than Alita and fucking Solo. Let alone even the early MCU movies, it's no way in hell gonna catch Thor 1, Captain America 1 or even Incredible Hulk.

But hey at least your movie is criticaly successful and technically profitable even though it is not that popular.

Sorry sweetie. The era of bland mayo unseasoned whyte men is over. It's time for a wave of new progressive heroes .

*sips truety frooty tea*

>it's an embarrassment it made the money AT&T likely intended

Attached: OK_thumb.jpg (600x600, 32K)

>DC's most successful highly acclaimed movie is about a guy named Captain Marvel
you can't make this up

First you said it wasn't going to make $200m and that Hellboy would overtake it this weekend, just eat the disc already

He was first though, why are you acting surprised?

whats funny is marvel making a movie about the 5th? incarnation of captain marvel.

DC is slowly building the Shazamverse so when Shazam 22 comes out it breaks 2 billion dollars

Attached: D347ovYW4AARuhv.jpg (1200x799, 141K)

Studios take 25% of China sales, while they take 50% domestic, which is where is performing slightly better than overseas.
To answer OP, it's underperforming because the jokes don't translate well to foreign audiences, unlike Ant-Man where the jokes are visual. Subjective shit like "I didn't like so that's why it's underperforming" doesn't really count when it has an A from polled audiences.

It's not underperforming in most of the world anyway. It was supposed to make 100 million opening weekend with China coming in with 50 million, but then it made only 30 million in China, so the rest of the world exceeded expectations with 20 million.

Been living under a rock? Silk, Spider-Verse 2 and Spider-Ham were announced.

nigga it was a joke about words

Hey, at least he got his skull smashed for trying to play with nunchucks.
Although then it just goes back to the trope of emasculating Asian men, so idk.
Well, but he was going to physically defend a cripple, so that's manly, but he failed at being a ninja, so I guess it's alright in the end.
Well, not the line about playing Watchdogs and Uplink, that was legit cringe.

Why

Imagine a Plastic Man movie made in the vein of Shazam.

Attached: 18983021_1866993103329473_972879724_n.png (152x254, 41K)

I'm so pissed at this new Hellboy sequel/reboot. The actor is dry, and forced. They are trying to be Singer campy to blend in with the "we're so cool we don't take ourselves seriously oh hey look random 80's stuff vibe" zeitgeist. It looks cool in and of itself, but is not true to source and seems like it is trying too hard to look like it is not trying. I'm expecting Fortnite dances and NuWars vibes aplenty almost.

No shirtless scenes

Good, men need to stop having their sexuality objectified to get women in theater seats because "omg Cap so cute xD"

BS, if BvS had been as good as Civil War, or say, The Dark Knight, people on all sides would have ate it up, it'd have surpassed 1 billion easily and to this day there'd probably a friendly rivarly at worst, probably just getting along well, like with Deadpool's fandom.

Skrull twist > white trash mom twist

cha-ching!

Attached: 1535109791491.gif (320x180, 811K)

this
Prior to 2008, Batman and Superman were 2 of the 3 most well known and well-liked superheroes.

it was released right after Captain Marvel and before Endgame. they should've released it in December just like Aquaman

Die by Endgame or die by IX. And putting close to Joker's proximity was out of the question.

But Yea Forums math told me Spider-Verse lost 20-30mil

>The Snyder reveals prove there's still a huge swath of the moviegoing public that want serious and mature superhero movies
>had he stayed on we could've had a hard and unique look into Billy dealing with larger-than-life gods mentoring him on how to be a superhero as he navigates a foster system that threatens to break his spirit
>instead we get FLOSSIN and meme quotes galore to attract dem zoomerbux and mothers wanting more Marvel movies for the kids

Anyone else miserable now over what could've been?

Attached: Zoomer.gif (507x269, 1.6M)

>Carolhaters and Shazamfags are all redditors
What a self-own

Attached: brielolz.gif (268x268, 2.61M)

Is it weird that I think he is incredibly handsome?

>durr im just gonna ignore the darker elements of the film and suggest a worse story
Also you can have a light hearted tale with dark elements pic related and Power of Hope.
Plus Shazam! in general is the wrong series to turn into a snyder story when he's always been pure child escapism and fantasy

Attached: Superman Shazam - First Thunder (Wezz-DCP) 01-00.jpg (1024x1553, 368K)

Here's a mock-up if you're actually interested.
Spider-verse avoided paying marketing by making deals with brands who paid it for them, thus the zil.
Also keep in mind these are conservative estimates; due to the nature of Hollywood's incestuous bullshit, some of the budget will always work its way back into the company's hands. This is true for just about every movie.

Attached: Spiderverse.png (375x165, 7K)

Because people want DC movies, not Marvel movies wearing DC clothes
But honestly, I believe that it's just terrible timing and weak marketing. Being released right between two MCU movies isn't going to help any super hero movie.

I agree, Captain Marvel was pretty low tier.

Feels bad. This is easily the best DCEU film.

And why is marketing zil here?

Shazam was a good movie, but it was not a very flashy movie. The action was not particularly good, the costume is not very "hype", and it's just generally sort of lacking e-z marketable aspects.

Shazam and Venom are kind of opposite movies. I like them both, but Shazam is all heart, whereas Venom is all style.

Sorry you already answered that. I'm retarded. So I assume product placement money is used for advertising?

The fuck are you talking about Venom looked drab and uninspired

I finally saw it myself. Pacing felt a tad haphazard sometimes, but it was a fun movie and I enjoyed myself. Was pleasantly surprised to see the whole Marvel Family. I really can't wait to see The Rock reprise his role as an ancient evil Egyptian again.

boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=dc.htm
Reminder that Aquaman was the second highest grossing film of the DCEU in the US and #1 Worldwide and it's opening weekend was less than $15M more than Shazam's, even with all of the promotional material it got
Shazam will do fine, it's a lower budget project but word of mouth will help it stay afloat

Attached: 1369021470844.jpg (422x347, 24K)

The rock really likes playing racially ambiguous characters huh?

It's his thing and why we love him.

because chinese aren't people

>word of mouth will help it stay afloat
user, I…

Attached: avengers-endgame.jpg (405x600, 78K)

Not enough scenes with Zachary bending over.

Isn't BIG thirst banned in some states?

What was the best role the Rock ever played?

Why would the average normie watch this mid-budget meme movie when literally the biggest capeshit of all time is coming out in two weeks?

Not /cape/ but it is /kino/

Attached: southland-tales.jpg (600x294, 34K)

This.
It made back its budget in less than a week.

How many times you saw Shazam? I went two times and thinking about a third next week.

I wanna go and see Shazam but I don’t have time.
Same goes for Endgame, I’ll just stream it or something.

gonna rewatch tomorrow, but only because I'm going with a friend who wants to see it
I don't care about the movie that much

Once. I only ever pay to see a movie once. I hear stories about people getting tickets for Endgame so they can watch it three times on opening day and I wanna push them out of a window

I guess they just dismissed it for not being a marvel flick

When did the Cape (Stop using Capeshit) craze come from? Batman? Iron Man? And when will it end?

Because it looks fucking dumb, and not even like, funny dumb but like a waste of 20+$ dumb

Where the fuck do you live that movie tickets cost $20 or more?

Honestly this. It looks like a Disney channel original movie

Yup

Correction. FLOPPING. And it's because of a terrible release date and marketing campaign that sold it as a kids movie.

Attached: Professor Arturo's Book -- Sliders.jpg (318x375, 39K)

I only ever go once

Does Shazam have good rewatchability?

But it is a kids movie?

I only paid 9.50 and I could have paid 5 if I just waited until tuesday

Nowhere, you forget the concessions user and I'm a fat American.

it is exactly that
villain is bland
music score is kids-tier
billy and shazam don't have anywhere close to the same personality
there is zero sense of danger when Silvana captures the kids because he keeps them hostage instead of killing them like the adults earlier in the films
demons feel weak as fuck
it's not a great movie as much as I loved Billy, his friend, and the adorable black girl
Mary getting gropped by the tentacle monster through the finale was alright though

Attached: 1371840487556.png (320x287, 107K)

Yes. Sony got some from product placement, and some from merchandising deals.

>he keeps them hostage instead of killing them like the adults earlier in the films
Because if he kills the kids, Billy could just tell Sivana to fuck off.

Sivana killed his brother, dad, and the board strictly for the satisfaction. The kids had utility.

yeah but he still doesn't feel dangerous
he doesn't attempt to scare billy, he just holds them

Kid Silvana was interesting but adult Silvana was sort of an autist, wasn't he? He acted like a total cartoon.

>underperforming
Flop. "Why is it flopping?" since when calling things with their name has become a taboo?
Are DCucks really that sensitive? Try make a good movie next time.

Kids movies perform differently then others. and not in a good way.

I would like Sivana to act more cartoonishly evil in the movie sometimes because that was his appeal in the comics.

Maybe we'll see more of that when he teams up with Mr. Mind

It's more than doubled its budget in the first week, I think it's doing okay. Definitely not a flop.

>he doesn't attempt to scare billy, he just holds them
He multiple times threatened to kill Darla

*makes more than Shazam's entire theatrical run in the opening weekend in your path*

Attached: Captain_Marvel_poster.jpg (220x326, 110K)

What was the worse thing Mr. Mind has done in the comics.
Can I get recs please. I’ve been asking this for days because I actually want to know more about Carol, but all you guys ever seem to do is shit up the thread.

>literally almost drowns teenage Billy
>not dangerous

I find this much more horrifying compared to anything the DC and MCU has done before.

Attached: 1555203891558.webm (600x250, 2.51M)

He's murdered hundreds of thousands of people
Not sure whether that was all at the same time, though

Its the little things that scares us the most huh?

damn I can't take that guy seriously at all
he might as well be keanu reeves in a movie that isn't johnny wick or bill and ted

There's something unsettling about a villain just emotionlessly trying to murder a kid.

Based Chadrol

COUNTRY ROOOOOOOOOOADS

Bald John Oliver lookin ass.

Still love the guy though

General doomsday shit all the time, but in the golden age he murdered 187 thousand people.

Didn’t he die in that new Kingsman movie?
What happened to the guy that played Eggsy?

I want to like Mark Strong, but he'll always be the character that ruined Sunshine to me.

Attached: pinbacker.jpg (600x252, 51K)

Yes he did and no idea.

Never heard of that. What'd he do?

nigga, watch Sunshine, it's proof Chris Evans can actually act and is overall a great movie.

Unfortunately Mark Strong's character ruins the final act. No fault on him, his acting was solid, but I'll still always irrationally associate him with it.

Attached: sunshine-lg.jpg (600x396, 80K)

>it's proof Chris Evans can actually act and is overall a great movie
I want to say you're lying, but I'm now intrigued.

I finally saw it today and it was fucking great. It was funny to see them taking the piss out of Batman and Superman. I was kind of disappointed that Sivanna wasnt a super scientist, but maybe he will go that route in the sequel?

It was pretty cool to see Mr.Mind as well, although it seemed like nobody in the theater knew who he was.

Attached: magnificent goat.jpg (600x684, 76K)

Eggsy came out and is now Elton John

I knew billy would be too good for this world.

Pfftt, What?

So whats the whole gang going to be called in the movies? They never really called him Shazam until the very end, but are they going to still call them the marvel family? Is Marry still going to be Mary Marvel? Or are they going to use new names so normies arent confused by Carol also being Captain Marvel?

Shazam Family individually I don’t know.

it was shit and they adapted the worst possible itteration of the character and it was just poorly made and had terrible writing lacked any soul and thats coming from a huge shazam

>Huge Shazam
What?

>It was pretty cool to see Mr.Mind as well

This. Shazam flopping hard

Huge Shazam. The latest and largest member of the Shazam family.

She’s a devoted christian though so you can’t do all those nasty stuff with her.

he was amazing in kingsman but dammit I did not care for him in shazam

Twice. I only ever see Star Wars twice, so that in of itself is a high praise. I'm thinking I might go for a third on the Endgame weekend, to wash that movie down (seeing it on Wednesday).

>nine hours of the same Avengers movie in a row
Why would they do that to themselves?

not nececarily a captain marvel story but my favorite is in kingdome come, where he kicks the shit out of superman get my dick real hard

Anyother Captain Marvel book you like?

Nobody was passionate for Hellboy electric boogaloo either but the few that watched it said it in hopes it was salvageable said it was terrible, stop with the damage control

Going Tuesday for the $5.50 early bird special like all movies I want to watch.

Shazam! Power of Hope was great
the World's Mightiest Mortal i quite enjoyed
and captain marvel and the monster society of evil

Yep saw it twice honestly didn’t disappoint. Not the best capeshit movie but still good.

Because

1. No one likes DShit
2. It's a shit movie

Don't bother, they like to pretend that movies like that and Detective Pikachu don't exist.

Yeah I’m still reading Monster Society of Evil been pretty fun so far.

Avengers and never... well never for Marvel looks like it's already over for things like DC and Hellboy.

>Winning
>Every Marvel movie this year will make over a Billion
>Every DC movie this year won't make half
Yeah, you sure are "winning".

>and Never

If Far From Home makes a billion after Endgame becomes the biggest movie of all time then the answer for Marvel is never.

Dab

It's way better than captain fungus

Seething Mousecuck

When Spider-Man, X2, and Spider-Man 2 combined to make $2 Billion in the span of three years. It was around then that CGI was at a level that could make superpowers look cool and believable.

It's not. There's no precedent for a superhero movie with a sub-hundred million budget making huge sums of cash.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA no

Loved this thing. Felt like one of those really good 80s/early 90s kids movies like Goonies or Sandlot mixed with Raimi Spider-man

>4th update, Saturday writethru after Friday PM and midday posts: New Line/DC’s Shazam! is staying put in No. 1 with a second weekend of $23M (-57%), for a 10-day of $92.7M.

deadline.com/2019/04/hellboy-shazam-weekend-box-office-1202594516/

Touching over 100 million on its second week run with an increase of cinema bookings - 4,306
(+89)

So yeah, this film counting world wide has made back its budget fully now and should be making somewhat of a profit, with two weeks in sight before Endgame comes.

Warnerbros and related are happy with this just from the reception and score across the board alone when you add the top. Plus Dwayne Johnson is happy to see this as it's setting up his Black Adam and other mythos related for what's to come on sequels and his film.

They definitely need to change the style of marketing on the second film but the foundations of everything is now all good.

Attached: shazam.jpg (960x539, 108K)

>HAHA ITS DEADPOOL EXCEPT HE'S A KID
That's kinda sad and desperate.

What?
That doesn’t make any sense.

Same kinda character. Tragic past, now becoming just a joke hero that says weak jokes that appeal to normalfags.

>Same kind of character.

The hell you smoking?

>Same kinda character. Tragic past, now becoming just a joke hero that says weak jokes that appeal to normalfags.
You described 80% of all Capeshit retard.

Stop being a pedantic fanboy. You know exactly what I mean with the comparison. He's just another le wacky quirky jokeman with sob story past.

That is a big stretch to try and validate your argument though. The whole archetype of tragic past and witty humor is a big fucking margin.

One is an ex soldier who's killed and become a some what jaded dark merc who goes through cancer and become a ugly son of a bitch from experimentation.

The other is just a mere orphan left who wanted to find his mum and is still a young teenager/kid who is acting his age and the bants with it.

Your argument doesn't hold up with what you are trying to convey.

Did we actually watch the same movie?
This applies to guys like:
>Star Lord
>Thor
>Iron Man
>Spider-man
What type of High Brow cape movie did you like?

Scapeshit has been going strong for 80 years.
It's not going anywhere.

I just want it to end user.
I hate talking about Movies it drives me crazy seeing my comic character be forced to change who they are just because the Mouse and WB want to make more bucks with their IPs.

There’s no way it’ll reach a billion. Kind of sucks.

Then don’t watch retard. It’s easy to ignore capeshit movies

Aquaman hit a billion after the Justice League trainwreck you idiot.

i get it you sneaky bastard

Better than this fucking Nickelodeon tier movie you all worship

If Deadpool made 300 million Fox would be happy as well.

Based Carol casually ending Shitzam's career

It may be underperforming in sales but it's getting lot of fan art, which is something fake Carol completely lacks.

Agreed. Snyder definitely fucked the DCEU up, possibly beyond repair.
A shame because Shazam is a legit good film to lighten up the misery that was BvS and JL.

>m-m-muh shitty fan drawings!

DCfags are truly pathetic. Is that your last line of defense now?

How the fuck am I supposed to do that?
This board is crawling with Yea Forums its annoying and an eyesore.
Marvel alone has 21+ Movies it has to end.

Just saying what differs a normie franchise from non-normie franchise. And that's what Cap is, an average film for average normies.

So what you're telling me is that Shazam is for unwashed trogdollyte basement dwellers, while Captain Marvel is for normal, well-adjusted people

I don't care for these pissing contests nor i want to undermine Shazam, but why lie? Even just lurking random threads here you always see fanart, there's that whole recent trend/meme of shipping Carol with every living thing for example, how would it even be possible for pop culture media these days to "completely lack" fanart?

Joker will do good

Nothing

Because it's boring and not funny.
No, I'd say it was the same level of boring, unfunny garbage.

But which one was the least shitty?

It's almost like the schools paid for the tickets!

Can confirm. Nothing much.

You're missing the point.

Shazam is a smaller movie with a smaller budget. It performed well and did what it needed to do. The movie would've flopped if WB made Black Adam the main villain instead of someone cooler like Sivana and Mr. Mind.

Did you even watch the movie?

You're missing the dick in your mouth.

I will see a movie a second time if it stands out as particularly good or a game changer. But that usually only ends up being one film every couple of years. I saw Toy Story twice, Fellowship of the Ring, Spirited Away, The Dark Knight, Fury Road, etc.

I've only seen it once so far but I REALLY want to go again. Sadly the nearest theater is like an hour away.

Yeah the movie is doing well, especially when you consider DC seems to deliberately keep Shaz off in the limelight at best, lest he get in the way of Flagship Superman.

Attached: 4163389-1+ac_cv38_fls75_var_r1.jpg (2100x3150, 932K)

It's performing on the exact same level as 2005 Fantastic 4, same budget too...YIKES

ITs not?

Don't you have to go to church, user?

It's not a flop but it IS underperforming, WB wanted it to make much more than this

why do facts hurt you, it is performing pretty much exactly in tandem with Fantastic Four(2005).
>80M-100M budget.
>$56M opening weekend.
>$23M second weekend.
>$150M Domestic.
>$330M WW.
I think it made $20M after DVD sales.

"Underperforming" can mean a couple of things.

As user correctly points out it made its (very small) budget back already by any stretch of the imagination. It's in the black, financially.

However performance expectations are set in two ways; firstly by studios, who have a range of values that they expect their investment return to fall between (this is sometimes met by non-box-office revenue streams but usually not - these are secondary streams of income like home video, merch, tv licensing etc). If a movie's gross does not reach at a minimum the lower bounds of this range of values, then it has underperformed as far as the studio is concerned. This does not necessarily mean that it is a flop, but that investment might be earmarked for future sequels, other developments in a shared universe, or simply for other movies which are unrelated to the original project. If the money invested doesn't come back, those projects cannot go ahead. There is usually no way to know what this expected return is other than close reading of trade rags.

Secondly when a movie is first released in any territory there is another range of values of expected gross. This is often confounded by various factors (such as counting previews with weekend 1 grosses) that distort the falloff in ticket sales after the opening weekend (so a much greater fall can be expected if preview sales were high but weekend sales were weak, for example). The future expected range changes with each new day of data. In the case of Shazam!, it has consistently posted results in the lower reaches or below the lower reaches of this expected gross value in the domestic market. This is not a good sign for any sequel hopes as it tends to suggest weak audience interest - they saw one, it was ok, they probably won't see another.

It's not death, but it's not good.

Are you trying to excuse your stupidity by using someone else?

>has indeed a terrible taste for movies.

Spider-Verse is not a good movie either. The gimmick is the crappy animation

He doesn't. The Stamina of Atlas is supposed to negate all bodily needs.

That's not too shabby.

Mediocre handheld cinematography with bland lighting and composition, wooden acting from the lead being way overshadowed by Samuel’s L. Jackson Nick Fury (Same reason why Luke was kept out of TFA because he would overshadow the new hero) interesting lore that it’s not explained further because it’s a prequel and it could fuck over the other movies, 90’s in your face nostalgia (We get it! It’s 1995, Nerf pistols and Blockbuster video and Payphones, I remember, I was 10) hardly explored her family history and they rushed the scenes where Monica gives the audience Carol’s family history, underwhelming final battle, The cat took Nick’s eye for the memes, (BTW, where’s the cat now?) horrible pacing.

This is the worst Marvel movie since Iron Man 2 and Thor 2. Although Thor 2 at least it’s first hour was engaging

It's already being forgotten and will be totally tossed aside when Endgame comes out.

Saw it once but bought two tickets

XMEN, Spiderman trilogy then the Bateman Trilogy

That still hasn't been addressed even in the comics. They've been dancing around Billy's name and haven't even bothered talking about the others. Collectively they're the Shazam Family, but individually they don't have hero names.

it was actually quite the fun movie.

Because of lack of word of mouth. Get friends, you cucks.

Who is Billy?

this

No star power
Superpowers that aren't exciting, and were done better in Man of Steel
Generic villain and monsters

I went in with very general knowledge of Shazam. Mostly that he's the OG Captain Marvel.

it's a low budget, honest movie. Even the advertising focuses purely on the fun nature of the film. If they wanted to get a bigger crowd they would spoil all of the dark shit that actually happens ,in the trailers, but that would take away from the film, so they don't.

I respect everything about this film, I hope they keep this up.

>a Plastic Man movie
I want this so bad, but who would play him?

Attached: 1435787957065.png (271x288, 68K)

I just saw Captain Marvel, going to see Endgame, don't have any use for another superhero movie right this moment (I saw Missing Link this afternoon instead). Shazam has been getting high marks so I'll probably catch it eventually, but at home

>Didn’t he die in that new Kingsman movie?
He literally dies like 2 seconds after that gif ends.

Shazam is flopping because it's the only superhero movie made for kids. The main character is a kid who can make his own decisions and doesn't need to be told he's the chosen one. Billy uses the powers of Shazam the same way a kid would: try to make money off his superpowers, and do the right thing.

Even Superman is shot in the way most kids see him.

>batman vs robin

Strange how you didn't include any DC movies there.

Waiter, this pasta is stale.

Once so far, gonna go again soon.

Honestly it seems that it mostly has to do with the fact that they decided to release it right before Endgame.

Not sure if retarded or just baiting, but you got me to call you a faggot, so congratulations either way faggot

GOd i want him to fuck me in the ass, with the costume on of course

Holy shit you’re retarded. He clearly just put decent/good ones you sneed. Also, I’m guessing you can’t read because he clearly did.

Ladderbros say this about Shazam but wouldn’t say the same about into the spiderverse kek.

The shazam costume does not have a pants zipper

Finally just saw it.

I thought it was fine. The whole time up until the last 30 minutes or so, I hated that they went with nu52 Billy. I wanted pure, innocent, more whimsical,'fun', old school Captain Marvel goodness. I was actually thinking, "Fuck Geoff Johns," while watching the movie for that shit. But damn, that last act was REALLY good. It really felt like the more progressively, "Captain Marvel," it was, the better the movie got, because that last act really felt like old school Shazam. The Marvel Family was fucking great and it really felt like I watching characters like Captain Marvel Jr. pop on the screen.

I hope they go further in that direction for the sequel now that they laid the groundwork for the franchise.

I really think that its release could've also been bumped up a week or two and done fine. Since it looks like it relied so heavily on word of mouth over aggressive advertising it really needed as many weeks as it could for it to have decent legs.

I'm not sure why they didn't just release it over the summer.

how likely is a sequel with no Synder invovlement and the same actors?

I would've really appreaciated if they didn't drag the final fight. right when the sins appears in the carnival Billy should've shazamed everyone, then the sins get curbstomped and Sivana gets arrested for ...doing what exactly?

I honestly believe we would have a better movie if stuff like the school guard scene and the multiverse doors scene were cut and most of the final fight was edited so the movie was under 2 hours.

I have to wonder if Neill Marshall re-purposed any of the work he was doing on the Spooks production for Hellboy? It sounds like it from what I've read. Might check it out tomorrow, despite blue balls from Golden Army cliffhanger ending, and not really getting why everybody is in love with Stranger Things man.

i think you two should re-watch raimi spider-man

Reading this unfold on Weibo is pretty funny. Seems like Shazam's major appeal in China is the little boys who played Billy and Freddy, while Marveldrones argue that it's "too childish" and theyre saving money for Endgame.

Didn't expect the Challengers of the Unknown and Stan Lee to be in it as well.

The actor that played Eggsy is playing Elton John in the film Rocketman.

(Though, according to blind items, that actor is supposedly gay too.)

Wasn't Elton also in Kingsmen?
Was this all a set up just to get both of them to know each other better for the Movie?

They probably have bigger budgeted movies they needed to place on more favorable dates. WB is not DC only. Since Shazam didn't have a big budget, it could easily be a minor hit in a tight spot.

>I honestly believe we would have a better movie if stuff like the school guard scene (...) were cut
What the fuck, man? Shazam is clearly a comedy, and that was one of the funniest bits. Everybody was laughing their asses off during that scene when I watched it, and that's the whole point of the movie.

Anyway, the way I see it is that it's sort of a reverse BvS. It won't make the money that one made but it's good PR for the future of the DC brand, while BvS made bigger bank but completely spoiled the public's perception of DC movies and created the narrative that DC films = bad when only a few years before Nolan's was getting all the praise in the world.

good cuz aint making even half

I don't believe that there are 175 people here for some reason.

It's already over 250

>t. deeceekek

I feel like the good reviews from across the board might give it some leverage. All the pre-WW DC films made money, but they were critically torn apart and ruined all good will for future DC movies. Whereas Shazam is very well liked and is a modest success.

Really, it's the time of release that kind of fucked everything up. It should've been released in February or some shit. Hopefully execs will recognize this.

Attached: 12345678765678.png (1000x1221, 2.81M)

>Studios and cinemas split profits in half
No they absolutely do not.

Theaters only keep a fraction of the sales.

Because it’s literally a Christmas movie they released nearly halfway through the year. I saw it at an early screening, and besides raving about it, the second thing I told people about it was that it clearly Gould have been released in December/January

That death made no sense at all, so badly done. Written by actual monkeys.

Maybe he wanted to be killed off?
But yeah it was clearly shit writing and I'm just trying to find a decent explanation.
Elton was the only good part of that movie.

If I were a shill on either side, its box office would still be over 250 because that's how facts work.

>pic

...God dammit.

Hey, it fits.

Attached: cardcaptor Shazam.jpg (1080x1522, 295K)

Agreed on both the lack of goodwill and the timing.

You do NOT release a film about a hero that's a literal who to normies between Captain If-You-Don't-Watch-This-You're-A-Misogynist and fucking Endgame.

>sees missing link
Yep you wasted your money

Is Missing Link bad?

Honestly you would've been better off skipping CM and seeing Shaz. CM doesn't bring anything vital to the lore of the greater MCU and would be a pretty crap film on its own. Shaz also doesn't bring anything vital to the lore of the DCEU, but it's a lot better as a standalone piece.

It's not underperforming, it's not overperforming. It's exactly in line.

>muh budget
If it was a movie people gave a shit about, it would have earned more. Simple as that. It's a fucking failure, and Shazam is still a nobody in the public eye.

I concur.

It isn't also Chuck has more charisma than Brie, and can actually joke without coming off as a major cunt.
>twitter.com/etnow/status/1116735031282556928

Zach Levi was too busy promoting Captain Marvel's movie pretending to be a good sport when he should've been busy promoting his movie instead.

>I'm not sure why they didn't just release it over the summer.

release schedule until from endgame to august is ridiculous, you've got detective pikachu, john wick 3, aladdin, godzilla, dark phoenix, men in black, toy story 4, spider-man, lion king, hobbs and shaw. some of those are going to underperform just from the sheer amount of movies coming out in such a short span.

>a few listed were actually critically acclaimed

You know if we're counting all Marvel films, they have a list of bad ones a mile long too? MCU wasn't the only one churning 'em out through the years and even they put out some mediocre to bad ones.

It'll be interesting to see if it dies down a bit after Endgame but it really does feel like this is the case for the most part. DC has been met with a lot of negativity, some of it self-inflicted but some of it went totally overboard into ball spiking. I'd ideally love it if both sides could coexist and put out material fans of either side enjoy and that material find box office success. So neither side can really bitch or become ladderfags. Marvel definitely has been throwing it's weight around lately and it feels like DC really has to pick it's spots. It's put out superhero movies critics are more accepting of these days and should it continue maybe we'll get back to early 2000's and before where it really didn't matter who was putting it out but whether it looked like a good time at the movies.

Honestly, Brie's movie is only making buck because it's a tie-in to Endgame and IW. Minus it, it's pretty much just a worse version of Dr. Strange and arguably just a more watchable version of Green Lantern.

This. I liked Shazam and captain marvel but I think it’s funny how fans can’t reconcile that both are worth a watch. Not every movie needs to make a billion or have a massive marketing push to be good.

Yes obviously

I got so pumped seeing Freddie and Mary transform. The last scene and after credit scene were cool peole literally cheeered and gasped at the lunch room thing. Good times.

Exactly, how they didn’t spoil much or have 10 trailers. It was a low budget and sincere movie that mostly had all the moments one could want in a into to Shazam family. I want tawny and and the rock as black Adam sooner but we’ll get them later so whatever.

Anecdotal but my theatre was packed and kids were laughing and cheering through Shazam. When I saw captain marvel my theatre was silent and the jokes didn’t land. Felt like a obligation to watch and my gf literally fell asleep and said she didn’t like the actress. Just because it made a billion doesn’t mean it’s objectively better than Shazam.

Shazam is for kids but has threatening and scary villains and comic book elements. No trailers no marketing and still made enough to warrant a sequel.

Captain marvel is a normie commercial for end game that was only interesting in the last 30 mins and features a literal Mary Sue. You cant criticize it without being called a nazi and it had a insane marketing campaign. If it featured a man it would have bombed.

Agreed, people laughed at mr mind but the Shazam senpai transform and the lunch scene kids were clapping and cheering. In glad the movie got good reactions. Shazam was enjoyable.

He did

Probably word of mouth or rotten tomatoes it’s sitting at like 90 percent. It’s a fun movie that doesn’t require you to know anything about comics.

Same, was very pleased to see Freddie and Mary didn’t realize how satisfying it would be

>Low budget
100 million dollars isn't "low", it's just not a blockbuster budget. Logan had a budget the size of Shazam's.

It was less than 80 million, with Logan costing 17 million more at the least.

Shazam looks old

Attached: Picture.jpg (696x290, 30K)

Shazam isnt the only one underperforming. Literally every movie sandwiched between Endgame and Captain Marvel isn't doing well. To top it all off even further, the weekend that Shazam was released in had the ticket websites crash cause of the hype for Endgame. People prefer to grab a ticket and wait for Endgame rather than go out and see anything else right now. Warner Bros should've released the movie one week earlier where it could've competed more with Captain Marvel instead.

Also, the film isn't resonating with foreign audiences all that much for some reason but I think it will be fine if they add more spectacle in for a sequel and add more star power. It really could use a little bit of a higher budget. Need the trailers to be more interesting too.

Marketing dropped the ball hard with this one

Pretty much this. Casuals and Comicbook fans alike find it cool to shit on DC now. Brands tainted.

Mojo has it listed at 100 mil, and everyone else gives a range of 80-90+.
Considering what they spent on the suit alone, 100mil seems more likely.

This is a self-inflicted condition.

>normie
Normalfags are cancer

Marvelfags are normalfags in general

every single capeshitter is a normie

Hellboy kills it.

WB isn't buying tickets for it like Disney did for Captain Marvel

funny joke XD

They probably should start if they don't want people to think the franchise is dying

they really should have showed this earlier than ersatz Marvel

>budget doesn't matter
>earns more than it's budget and promotion
>failure because you say so
Your arbitrary opinion doesn't make it a hit or not. Whether it earns money does. Simple as that.

This is the thing DCucks are too fucking retarded to realize

Attached: Screenshot_20190415-110925_Chrome.jpg (944x459, 204K)

It's a hit but book the Rock for the sequel and you'll take it to the next level with more starpower and the fact that the first one gained a lot of goodwill.

It hit 258 million laddercuck. it's not a flop

Hunting blacks in africa

That's fucking terrible DCuck

Anything less than $400 million for any movie is a disaster

And if it makes that you'll just say 500 million. Just quit talking out your ass already. No one believes you.

This - it's made just shy of $100 mil domestically and hit the $220 gross mark over the weekend. For a film with an $80 mil budget and a pretty light advertising campaign that's pretty good.

If you want to talk about a film underperforming take a look at Laika's latest film, Missing Link, which is rumored to have had a $60 mil budget and grossed under $6 mil its opening weekend.

or if a flop, theres hellboy.

Yeah, it's not doing much better than Missing Link.

No Superhero movie in this day and age should be making less than $600 million worldwide, but no, if it made $400 million (which it won't) I wouldn't say anything.

No Superhero movie in this day and age should be making less than $2 billion worldwide. Captain Marvel was a flop.

BvS made 850m but was still a disaster

Yeah, none of what you said means anything. None of your arbitrary plateaus or your promises. And it doesn't matter to the studio that's already working on a sequel.

This. Tied in between two multi billion dollar pictures, what a flopping failure. How do you not make it 2 as well. Amateur.

Warner Bros worked on a sequel after MoS, a sequel after BvS, and several sequels after JL (like The Flash and Cyborg). Sequels doesn't mean anything. Specially for WB that always jump the gun.

If it were a disaster then we wouldn't have these movies. WB would have just stopped like after Green Lantern

Anything less than $2.5 billion is a failure. That's why Avatar remains the only good film ever made.

There's no point talking to DCucks. They're too retarded to understand anything.

Fantfourstic, Green Lantern, Superman Returns, and Mortal Engins also already had sequels planned before they failed

Yes, but considering it was a critical and commercial success and they have the Rock lined up it's pretty much gonna happen. Batman Begins opened pretty soft in it's run but it was a critical success and look how that trilogy paid off.

Because Mary didn't have any nude scenes.

Fucking kill yourself already, ladderbro

why is this thread still up?

>its not

Attached: 1549917823432s.jpg (125x125, 3K)

It litterally isn't though

Marvel is better

Which one

I want a Plastic Man film, but I'm certain 80% of his scenes would be in jarringly out of place CG if it were live action. That's the kind of film that needs to be animated.

nah

Honestly I was expecting it to make 3 billion, but I won't say that Avatar underperformed. It just had a bad release date.

Yeah that's pretty much going to kill it off. There will have been decisions made along the lines of "we're only going to one movie this weekend" that have hurt it with Captain Marvel still in theaters too, but that's part of the problem with an increasingly crowded field of genre movies.

It's not the end of the world or anything, but it's a lot harder to break a brand in now than it would have been 10 years ago.

Unless you're Melissa Benoist I don't care.

It's good but it's still underperforming - it had a very big Sunday to Monday fall on week 1, and it took a full 10 days to scrape past $100m domestically. The full week 2 is only likely to be around $35m, maybe less - in the whole 4-day of week 1 it only made just short of $13m, or about 23% of the weekend preceding; if that's carried over to week 2 then it'll make maybe $6m to add to the second weekend's $24m. Typically we might expect a movie to make 50% of the weekend gross in the following 4-day period, and (lazily average) 50% of the preceding 7-day each week until the theatrical run ends. That's not happening here. It's probably going to end around $180m domestic, but I wouldn't be surprised to see lower or (marginally, maybe 190) higher.

That would disqualify most of the X-Men movies of course, but you're right, it's a different market today than it was 20 years ago.

Shazam! should make around $400m, but it's behaving weirdly and could easily stall before then. I don't see it making $500m unless something unexpected happens with the international. China has all but abandoned it now, so the only way it can make a lot is if the smaller markets step up.

>Mods taking down multiple FLOP threads after yesterday

>Not adjusting for inflation and seeing that the only good movie ever made is Gone with the Wind
It's almost like you like flops

>Melissa Benoist
Who?

>It's underperforming if you compare it to Alita and Solo.
It already passed Alita in the domestic BO and it's only 12 millions away of Solo's overseas. All that while costing half of Alita and about a third of Solo. It'll end around TFA (again, on a much lower budget) and it'll pass The Incredible Hulk (which also had a much higher budget) on Tuesday/Wednesday.
At least check the numbers before posting this crap.

>It's probably going to end around $180m domestic
If it does that with an under 100 million budget, it's really good. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll get there because of Endgame, but I hope it does 'cause I want a sequel without The Rock.

This

Why are you 'tards constantly comparing your shit to Phase 1 MCU films? You know, then movies that came out before the Golden Age of Capefilms?

Users and critics both disagree. I don't think the opinion of a bait autist counts more than that

DC doesn't have a good track record as of late.

It’s the exact opposite

You're thinking marvel user

Attached: 1548039343550.jpg (1009x1077, 171K)

>still refuses to give any praise to captain fungus
Yoofs!

I just went today to see it, and it's surprisingly fun and entertaining to watch

Is it though?

And you’ve been living under a rock.

Is this the new "SPIDER-VERSE IS FLOPPING!" Mouseshill's wolf cry?

Yes by the technical definition.

Underperforming is not the same thing as flopping, though you have to underperform in order to flop.

It's only got a small budget but it's also going to struggle to get much past $400m on present showing. They might make a sequel. It might be a big hit! They might not make one and just make that Metal Men movie they talked about back in 2013 instead. Nobody knows.

Was that actually Alan Moore in that one crowd shot or just a very convincing hobo?

Kneel before the champion.

It shot itself in the foot by releasing post-Captain Marvel AND pre-Endgame season.

shazam is not known hero
and DCEU isnt as strong as MCU to promote the movie also MCU have an climax of the saga and DCEU right now dont have that also massive promotion vs what promotion

When else were they suppose to release it?

What's the difference?

Wonder Woman
>$103 million
Justice League
>$93 million
Aquaman
>$67 million
Shazam
>$53 million

Someone definitely is DCuck

Both pre- or both post-, about a month time from one or the other.
By releasing in-between, the hype-train for Marvel at full speed would have crushed it. It's not a flop, but the prospect is not looking good.

The ideal timeframe would have been Christmas

after aquman would be perfect the dc hype train would start

There's nothing stopping them doing a re-release around then.

How are DC fans THIS retarded?

Attached: swriseheader.jpg (800x450, 40K)

dc fan here.
that user is retarded, but you have me living rent free you console war drone.
bye.

>shazam is not known hero

neither was Iron Man

>Aquaman
>Opening Weekend: $67M
>Domestic Lifetime: $355M
>Ant-Man and the Wasp
>Opening Weekend: $75M
>Domestic Lifetime: $216M

I fucking wish I got to see it opening weekend or even the weekend after in a packed theater. Sadly I couldn't because of reasons, and my theater was mostly empty, which I think impacted my experience a bit. There were some jokes there that I thought were hilarious that the rest of the theater didn't really get.

But yeah, seeing Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr. got me so hyped and really made it feel like classic Captain Marvel goodness. The guy they got to play Jr. was perfect.

but tomoyo doesnt have powers, at least not in the original CCS timeline.

Tomoyo's power is being a cutie which is also Freddy's real power

Attached: 1567897656789.png (1668x2223, 2.11M)

looks like garbage from the trailers and costumes

also DC characters are outdated. Hate to say it but they are a clear product of the 30s-early 60s. It doesn't translate well to modernization.

Who's Tomoyo?

>They're not diverse enough. Too many straight white males.

From Cardcaptor Sakura, a series involving a girl becoming a magical girl and her normie friend who fangirls over it and films her doing cool magical girl stuff.

Because we strat further from god's light each day.

>early 60s
Then I guess most Marvel characters are outdated too since many were born in the 60's. Hell, Captain America from the 40's

>also DC characters are outdated. Hate to say it but they are a clear product of the 30s-early 60s. It doesn't translate well to modernization.
What the fuck is this rant even. Batman (a character from the late 30's) has made a billion in this decade, WW (character from the 40's) made 800 million, Aquaman (character from the 40's too) made a billion just this year.

also, she has severe lesbian tendencies towards Sakura, indicted in her by her mother, who had the fucking hots for Sakura's mom. However, Tomoyo was smart and mature enough to realize Sakura's mutual feelings for Li, and rooted for them whenever she could.

I didn't see captain marvel to see shazam instead. Very happy with my choice. Since all sighs pointed to captain marvel being a vehicle for SJW politics. Shazam was fun unique call back to 80s kids film with some bite. Was a real blast to watch.

Because it's a DC movie and the general consensus is that they are gay and suck. Even though this one doesn't a lot of people just lack any interest as soon as they see the DC logo.

Attached: 1544203051160.jpg (650x292, 15K)

I know this post was deleted and this thread's going to 404 soon, but fuck you ladderbro you deserve to be permabanned.
