So Shazam is incapable of telling the public to call him Shazam without it changing him back into a kid?

That's probably why they should call him Captain Marvel.

But we can't call him Captain Marvel, stupid comic book fans keep thinking his name is Shazam because we use that as the title of the book!

No one canonically calls him “Captain Marvel” in-universe as of Flashpoint.

Is he not capable of saying “Shazam” without getting hit by lightning? I feel like intent should be a factor there.

He has to intend to change in the comics

Just called him SHAFLOP since his movie is flopping

Yes

Also, they legally cannot call him Captain Marvel

>flopping
If DCucks are calling Hellboy a bomb it's safe to say it's bombing not flopping

Call him Captain Marvelous.

Don't worry, no one knows about this flop of a movie

So he's pretty much the same as Mister Mxyzptlk

All he needs to do is call a press conference, yell "My name is", hide behind a curtain and whisper Shazam to transform back to Billy, then yell Shazam and reveal himself again.

Mxy makes his own rules.
The guy can literally shake the Multiverse if he wants to.
That rule was given because he wants to give supes a fair chance.

They can legally call the character Captain Marvel inside the book (and in fact, that was their solution for... two decades, I think?). They can't legally title the *BOOK* "Captain Marvel," because of trademark law (Marvel already has a book on store shelves called Captain Marvel), so they chose to call his book "Shazam" after the word he says to transform. However, it created so much confusion in the wider comic book audience (who are apparently as dumb as a brick) that they finally changed his name to Shazam during the New 52 reboot of all their characters.

>Is he not capable of saying “Shazam” without getting hit by lightning? I feel like intent should be a factor there.

I think that was the case at one point.

It was during the rebooted origin ("You have to say it with purpose"), but now it isn't? Honestly I don't understand how DC managed to make it so inconsistent in such a short amount of time, after rebooting the entire character from scratch.

Not so fast you cheeky imp!

Anyone have the scene with Black Adam getting back his powers when he figures out Billy chnaged his word to something he ordered at a diner?

>In this same issue Dream knocks out guys like the Ultimator and 5th Dimensional Imps

Why is Dream so FUCKING powerful, I never get this can some user tell me why a concept like Dream would be able to knockout guys that could destroy Multiple Universes?

Dream is made of what universes are made.

If I remember correctly, The God Sphere and all afterlife’s are part of The Dreaming, which is his domain. Dream is imagination personified, and men dream of Heaven and Gods

A universe in DC or the DC Universe?

How powerful is the Dreaming compared to the inhabitants of the 5th Dimension? Mxy’s done a whole lot of impressive things during his stint in the comics.
Do you have any examples of Dreams powers destroying a universe ala Emperor Joker?

Maybe he says Shazam, but pronounced a different way like. Shaz-am

>cut out Billy’s tongue
>he’s eternally fucked

Why doesn’t Sivana do this

bruh he straight up tried to sneak into Billy's room while the kid was sleeping and stab him dead with a knife.

Billy got lucky that time.
So close too btw.

>why is the anthropomorphic personification of dreams across the multiverse so powerful
Why wouldn't he be? I assume even 5th dimensional imps dream.

Johns changed his power so that Billy has to say the name with intent for it to turn him back.

He can say his name without summoning the lightning bolt.

But what about

The Imps are tricksters whom technically reside within The Dreaming, and are creatures of imagination not unlike Dream himself (though lesser by comparison of course). Doctor Destiny almost destroyed the planet with The Dream Stone, which is a portion of Dream’s very being. With the stone imagination becomes reality, thought and creativity are yours to command or destroy. The Sandman was only able to fix the universe after the stone was destroyed, and it’s power returned to him

What is Dream anyway?
Dream as in the place we go too sleep or Dream as in the place we want to be in life?

Yes.

Hey guys I'm watching this movie right now, is there an after credit scene? I wanna get some food

I take it Dream is actually both those things.
I’m new to this Vertigo thing, I only read a handful of things from that line and I got sidetracked with their book about Egyptian gods getting high, do you have any good Sandman stories I should read to understand Dream better?

It wasn't just an issue with the books either. Even action figure packaging for example couldn't call him Captain Marvel, whick likely played a big role in Warner pushing for a name change.

Just read Sandman from the beginning, man. It's a hell of a ride and definitely not a waste of time.

Actually.

I’ll get right on it but I wanna know.
Are there any spinoff aside from the Dreaming? I ordered a physical copy of both and I want to know if Gaiman made another companion piece.

In the comics he has to say it "with heroic intent", but I havent seen the movie so I'm not sure if it carries over.

There's the Death spin-off, if that's the type of stuff you mean. But I'm no expert, it was actually a decade since I last read through them, and I'm not sure if I read all the side-stuff that was available back then, and I'm pretty sure there's been new side-stuff since then.

M falldays

2 scenes

Death: high cost of something-something right? People told me I should read that but I did not know it was Sandman related.

Mid credits is the only one you really need to watch. The one at the end is just a joke, and it's actually one of the weakest in the whole film.

Yeah, that's the one. Death has her origins in the Sandman story, she's another Endless just like Dream, and probably the most popular one at that.

Just fucking call him Captain Thunder like Fawcett originally was going to and what Multiversity did.

It not hard.

Dream is an asshole. Just letting you know.

So does he currently not have a name?

And Flashpoint, iirc

Multiversity called him Captain Marvel

Maybe its based on concentration?
If Billy focuses enough he can say “Shazam!” And not be transformed but lets say if there was a casual conversation and he slips up he does turn into Shazam?

Kys fags

They should have renamed him to Captain Miracle.

Red cyclone works well as a public ally given name.
