The real problem, as I see it, is click-bait journalism always trying to identify some kind of big new thing to stay relevant.
And nothing gets them more attention than unveiling what they can claim to be some cryptic Nazi symbol.
Some fucks recently tried to claim that the thumbs-up was a racist calling card.
It's a sick mechanism that ends up ceding cultural ground to a supposed enemy at the slightest shred of evidence that someone might be establishing an alternate meaning for a common gesture or symbol.
