So, it's 2 pages per month. Way better than what once was (1 page a year MAYBE), but if she cut back on polishing we'd have 4 pages a month.

I have done my part

Coolcoolcool so we have this magnificently illustrated, written and produced comic that updates (albeit rather slowly) by a professional artist that is a master of her craft but barely gets any posts --- yet the shitty napkin doodles of degrassi cats (Bittersweet Candybowl) gets FAR more attention..

Like, how fucked up is that? Maybe because tweens and teens dont read Lackadaisy? Or perhaps it just uses too many big words and not even petty drama?

Honestly, if I were to critique Lackadaisy - it's for it's lack of use of the Noire-esque setting and being more adult. Spicing it up with betrayal, sex, drugs and mystery would give it alot more appeal. The humor is great, the pages are beautiful but much like Venture Bros you need a dictionary by your side to understand the heavy handed dialogue..

I mean would barely educated characters from the 1920s or whatever that are part of speakeasy mafia rings really be so linguistically savvy? I get perhaps some of them being so, like Mordecai and even Rocky but everyone in the story talks like this..

I should have saved my pic for you

>slow to update, slow moving story, non-exciting dialogue, no lewd fan service
kind of sucks Lackadaisy doesn’t get much attention but I can understand why.

>much like Venture Bros you need a dictionary by your side to understand the heavy handed dialogue
Are you not a native English speaker? I've never found it to be remotely challenging, word-wise. It's written at about an 8th or 9th grade reading level.

It's a real shame though, it has alot of potential - it's just one of those artist that tends not to follow what fans tend to gravitate towards (fan service, shipping, super dramatic arcs..ect).

Early Lackadaisy had a bit more teasing.. especially with Mitzi and Wit - which could've been interesting if they kept up Rocky's jealousy or even Mitzi fuckin Zib on the side in their constant on again off again relationship.

Dictionary may have no been the best description - it's just super heavy handed with references and all the characters go off on non-sequiturs that last several minutes generally. Lackadaisy also likes to "spice up" dialogue with lots of flowery fancy words for a more round-about way to saying things.

Again, earlier chapters weren't so heavy with this.

You are the first one to complain about Rocky and Mordacai's flowery dialogue. It is completely in-character for those 2 to speak like that.

I'm not complaining about *them* talking like that, it works for *those* characters. However, everyone int he fuckin comic talks like that just about.

Not sure we are reading the same comic.

Remember when there was tension in the comic? When something interesting could possibly happen and love-triangles...or squares were kind of a thing?

Yeah me too.

lackadaisy doesnt have the hebephile bait or silly community/artist drama like bittersweet candybowl does. thats all the thread discussions are about

I always wondered why BCB got stay on Yea Forums while mods shunted other furry comics like Poppy and Endtown to /trash/.

Attached: 1519592758249.png (474x541, 40K)

without saying too much, there are some acquaintances between bcb and /co

So...... mods. I get it.

poppy and endtown threads had irrevocably gone to shit
furshit may have been a factor, but definitely not the main one

Are BCB threads nice and civil then? I honestly don't go in them or follow the comic.

Yeah yeah, the rumor is that Bagman (the creator's of BCB husband) or one of their close friends continously gets janitor/mod position and often cleans up any 'suspicious' posts about them. Honestly they deserve a Kiwifarms post detailing all the messed up shit they've done in the past -- however everyone seems too lazy to actually do it.

Honestly BCB deserves to be in the trash more than those two other comics. I dont even like Endtown or Poppy - but they are at least better written.

Naw, just alot of complaining and shit-talking.
The creator is certified crazy borderline type and her husband is a controlling watchdog-potential-pedo who rules their fanbase with an iron-fist.

Heavy dialogue in english is actually quite refreshing. Reminds me of achille talon or cubitus, it's nice.
And I agree with the other user, Venture bros is fine, you may need to read more. Can't be a bad thing to do that.

There's a difference between understanding uncommon words and just being tedious for the sake of being tedious when writing dialogue.

Venture Bros did this at cringy levels.

I understand it all fine. The only words that are tricky are the ones that aren’t in circulation any longer, because it’s been a hundred years since then and language naturally changes through its eras.

If you read the books, newspapers, personal letters, magazines, and movies of the time, it does kind of give the impression that everybody spoke this way. I dunno if they really did, but all the media they were consuming did at least.

I think is a matter of frequency, much like venture bros the first reaction people get when the comic gets updated is "Oh yeah that exist".

People like routine, that's why sitcoms and vlogs are so popular even thought they aren't that good in the quality department. If you have good quality but only deliver once every month or two you are never going to be as popular as something that gets deliver once a week.

Man the difference in these pages to OP is staggering.
Also Ivy so fucking cute.

>needs petty drama
There are plenty of shitty, drama focused webcomics for you to enjoy. Leave Lackadaisy alone.

Attached: 1549157027277.jpg (253x158, 42K)

These pages may not look as pretty as the one in the OP, but they at least manage to have like three times more actual story in them.

Poppy threads went to shit REAL fast. As much as morbi is a shitter and the comic has more holes in it than a block of swiss cheese, a lot of people there got irrationally mad at things.
Endtown was welcome here but the whole forced crap with kirbee vs holly sunk the threads' quality, and holly's painfully anticlimatic goodbye sunk most of the board's interest in the comic.

>I always wondered why BCB got stay on Yea Forums
Same, that comic is unfiltered crap from start to end. Or at least most parts.

>Honestly BCB deserves to be in the trash more than those two other comics. I dont even like Endtown or Poppy - but they are at least better written.
Pretty much. There were some bcb threads on /trash/ but i dunno why they stopped.
In the end the only (although its kinda questionable if it is one or not) furry comic that got proper justice done on Yea Forums is latchkey kingdom mostly because the fans here are smart enough to make threads only after certain periods of time rather than per update.

Since Lackadaisy updated, this needs to be bumped. Where are all the oldfags that read the comic in 2010? GET IN HERE!

>Poppy threads went to shit REAL fast. As much as morbi is a shitter and the comic has more holes in it than a block of swiss cheese, a lot of people there got irrationally mad at things.

I never quite got the appeal of Poppy. I didn't like the art style, the characters were pretty cookie-cutter stand-ins from shonen animes and the artist never really did much to capitalize on the new found fame. I think he briefly put out quite a few pages at it's peak then went radio silent before switching the way the story was told all together (trying to go Homestuck-ish)

I think it was a fluke, probably some rando post here on Yea Forums that gave it the brief popularity it had. (On an unrelated note, similar thing happened with the Youtube channel Grade A Under A) He wasn't someone who posted his comic around, associated with other webcomic artists, had a big social media presence or anything like that..

At least Endtown's creator gave two shits about his creation and was actually committed to his story ; despite whatever attention it got. Morbi was so obviously throwing shit at the wall and seeing what stuck.

Ivy's great, I feel she's a better fit with Rocky then Freckle but I guess they have a cute dynamic. I may just be bias towards Rocky as he seems more interesting of a character to me.

I wonder how the comic will end. I'm assuming a big shoot-out gun battle between the rival gangs, with Freckle (hopefully) going psycho/crazy good marksman up against Mordecai. We will probably lose some characters, injure others - find out the truth behind the assassination of Atlas (spoiler: Mitzie hired Mordecai to kill him for his money/business but that's pretty obvious).

Plus timeline wise, the Great Depression is coming around so things could end up rather poorly for those who *do* make it out of there. Unless we get some huge time-skip.

Only 2010? The oldest Lackadaisy pic on my hard drive was saved in January 2007.

And the copyright date on the page I've got on my HDD made me realize she's apparently edited some pages afterwards, since currently the website has a different copyright year listed on its first page:

Judging by some comparison the panels have been moved around a bit, there are small changes in the colors, and the panel with the boat got entirely redrawn at some point.

It's not petty if done well. Which I'm sure Tracy Butler could do just fine. Petty drama would entail something without lasting consequences or no build up - which isn't like Butler at all.

Also who pissed in your cheerios? Have you never seen any classic noir or mafia films? Name me one that doesn't have any of those elements.

I have to agree the "style" of speech of several characters in this comic is non-distinct. The dialogue can get rather lavish sometimes, and no one talks using rough vocabulary, aside from the three farmers (who are dead).

It's true the dialogue can get rather lavish sometimes, making the articulation of several characters non-distinct. The only prominent characters who ever used rough vocabulary are the three farmers (who are dead).

I really want to see where the "Rocky is jealous of Wick" subplot goes.
Is that even relevant to the story anymore?

It had a generally interesting setting, and while the characters were generally simple, they were entertaining to watch for the most part.

>At least Endtown's creator gave two shits about his creation and was actually committed to his story ; despite whatever attention it got. Morbi was so obviously throwing shit at the wall and seeing what stuck.
Yeah, the point where morbi went radio silence and then the format change pretty much shown that morbi was running solely on the hype/honeymoon phase with the comic. If he had actual commitment he'd power through (Even if that meant going back to simpler visuals like the black & white version, which worked nicely with the comic).
Also correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the whole part with kirbee replacing holly kinda related to some IRL shit aaron was going through?

Oldfag here, I think 2010 was when I got into it.

God dammit GOD DAMMIT Elsa is so fucking pretty.

I sincerely hope nothing bad happens to Ivy.

>written and produced comic that updates (albeit rather slowly)
That's still the key. Even with the more frequant updates, the plot still moves too slowly to stay engaging on that release schedule.
I'm going to be completely honest, I've forgotten what's actually happening and what the plot even is beyond cats bootlegging in the 20's.
But the art is so gorgeous I don't care. I'm sure in 70+ when it's done it'll have been worth it.

Tracy really likes this Blue and Orange color scheme, doesn't she?
I personally think the sepia-photography style looked better though.

To be fair, the scene is set during the night, lit by an oil lamp.

Yeah but you can notice the overall gradual change in the comics color style from completely sepia to orange-blue at page 130 onwards.
I even think page 130 is the last page with the "old" color scheme.
Since then she puts more and more blue into the pages over the corse of the comic, and now the blue has pretty much outweighed the sepia.

Probably not. Mitzi could easily fit into the femme fatale archetype and play many men for many reasons - which would be fun to see her have such mastery over so much since she is the one who runs the club ontop of that too.

Unfortunately, Wick is kind of been written off for the most part and her attempts to seduce him never lead anywhere but some awkward moments.

Rocky's breaks in his happy facade are some of the most interesting bits -- while the hyper somewhat sociopathic goofball aesthetic is fun - i like to see him loose his shit - ala Freckle too. Like everyone in his family is just a bit 'off' in that regard in their own ways.

Wick is one of the few somewhat 'upstanding' characters in the story, so it's sad to see him downplayed so much. Morecai gets alot of screen-time but probably *too* much in comparison to other proactive characters that have more impact on the plot.

But he's so obviously the author's pet character and fan-favorite he is getting extra attention. Yet, where the hell has Viktor been in.. like all these chapters?
Why isn't Zib more at the fore-front of all of Mitzi's decisions rather then just being kind of cucked to the background? Shouldn't we see Rocky and Freckle rise up in ranks in the gang..? Or maybe even have some detective/cop or whatever hot on their trail..? We get a bit with that lawyer guy and Zib but it's never touched on again.

her death is needed for Freckle to go full psycho

Okay, actually read it. It seems like these 2 farm goobers are educated, and love to talk. Yes, lost of hard to understand words, but it's in-character, again.

Was this on purpose? Or did she just see it as a natural shift for her work?

No Idea. It feels like she makes herself unnecessary more work than needed with that.

No, he's right and I've noticed this as well for years. Tracy gives almost all of her characters the same voice, sense of humor, and range of vocabulary.
The only characters who arguably speak with a unique voice are Mitzi and Viktor, and the latter hardly even talks at all.

I'd say it's just lacking the tumblr shipping bait, waifufaggorty, and blank slate insert characters that other webcomics have. For example Ava's Demon often goes on hiatuses with comparable art quality but is more popular based on all the previously mentioned factors above.

Well, it's less popular on Yea Forums NOW (was more so between 2008 and 2012), but take solace from the fact is DOES have a large reader base, just not a very vocal one, and not here.
