What hate? Every time I hear people talk about it they're saying it's absolute kino. Except maybe Maul fangirls

>Why all the hate for this fight?
There is hate towards it? It's pretty much perfect, the stances the movement their is it's pure kino.

I liked it lot. Still a shit show but this was actually good and made sense. Episode 4 is a few months from then and ObiWan fights Vader later. And we all know how that was so of course this had to be quick. Plus it showed ObiWan at his most serious when Luke was gonna be a target for Maul. And the ending showed how much ObiWan has learned from the past by baiting maul with Quigon stance and finding the flaw in Mauls sneak attack. The same one from the PM.

There was hate when the clip of the fight leaked and people who don't even watch the show were doing the usual OH NO NO NO NO thing

Pretty much everyone who actually watched the fight in context within the episode itself agrees it's kino.

Reminds me of an old samurai movie or western.
It's basically perfect.

>He will avenge us

I don't remember any hate when the fight was leaked. But that said is the internet, why would some people hating something surprise you?

I always assumed when Obi Wan told Maul Luke was the Chosen One it was a lie to let Maul have some comfort in his last moments.

I actually liked that scene. It was well-directed and understated in a good way. The entire context of it is completely stupid, though. Reviving Maul was an awful idea to begin with.

Same. Especially with that pause right before he answers. He was letting go of past conflicts.
>"Look what I have risen above"

The slow buildup, the stance changes, baiting Maul into trying the same trick from the PM, all leading up to that quick exchange. Like everyone else said, it was like an old western duel, or old school samurai. It was basically perfect.

I don’t think the OH NO NO NO thing was a widespread meme when this fight dropped, you faggot.

>all the hate for this fight?
i remember people loving it, they did a good job building up the tension

>why would some people hating something surprise you?
Who said I was surprised? I was just answering a question.

>it was a lie
Obi-Wan has a lot of faith in Luke and seemingly none in Vader by that point. I don't see why he would be lying.

Not him but that meme's been around for a while now

because Obi Wan already banked on a "Chosen One" and watched that fall through in the most horrific way possible.

And by this point: did Obi Wan even think Luke was going to come to him for training?

also, I hate to meme, but:
>"Look what I have risen above"
>He has BECOME the high ground.

This fight fucking ruled.

Masters don't have long fights. They make quick, precise movements, and then it's over.

This. He has no reason to consider Anakin the Chosen One anymore considering he turned his back on the Jedi and became an agent of the guy he's supposed to kill. Obi-Wan and Yoda consider him a lost cause which is why they're going all-in on Luke being the new hope for the galaxy.

They turn out to be right just not in the way they expected.

>did Obi Wan even think Luke was going to come to him for training?
Luke doesn't need to. Obi-Wan's hanging around so he can go to Luke when the time is right. The entire reason he's exiled himself on Tatooine to watch over Luke is because he's counting on Luke to be the savior of the galaxy.

Shit was Kurosawa as fuck. Love it.

Moral high ground!

I think my favorite bit was when Maul was contemplating just leaving Obi wan to rot on the desert, like you almost get the feel that even for a split second this could have gone much differently.

A couple of years isn’t really “a while”

>watched that fall through
That doesn't mean he no longer believed in the prophecy, just that they got the target wrong.
>did Obi Wan even think Luke was going to come to him for training?
He was simply waiting for the right time. Consider how pushy he is about Luke coming with him to Alderaan, and how knowingly pleased he is with how Luke develops. "Chosen One" or not Obi-Wan is too enthusiastic and confident about it all for him not to have been waiting, and believing Luke to be the Chosen One is consistent with that (though obviously not *necessary* given the OT never had that plot point to begin with).

I hate the "Chosen One" story in general.

>cgi cartoon
Might as well be fanfiction, and just as non-canon and cringe.

That fight is part of maybe a total of 20 minutes of actually good Rebels. The rest is Thrawn and Ashoka.

I like it until I read the context, watched the qui gon fight 4 times, then rewatched this fight twice, then I loved it. This is the kind of deeper lore I watch shows like TCW and rebels for

Fwiw I think you're right, it shows obi let go of his hate for Maul

The episode itself is only a 2 years old so I don't know what you're trying to say here

it's bad because it's just a reference to another terrible choreographed fight from a bad movie.
It's like if Darth Vader and Obi Wan fought again after a new hope and Obi Wan did that stupid twirl a second time.

Too bad it was padded with Ezrafaggotry.

Because the meme wasn’t big on Yea Forums especially not until it was spammed on Yea Forums and Yea Forums and Yea Forums and crossposting permeated it through the website.

OP is just a niggerfaggot trying to be revisionist because he didn’t like the fact that the fight wasn’t WE ARE ELECTRIC tier fightan.

>Because the meme wasn’t big on Yea Forums especially not until it was spammed on Yea Forums and Yea Forums and Yea Forums and crossposting permeated it through the website.
Which was already happening around early 2017. You're weirdly upset about this.

>OP is just a niggerfaggot trying to be revisionist because he didn’t like the fact that the fight wasn’t WE ARE ELECTRIC tier fightan.
But OP didn't hate the fight?

trolled

Because some people expected to be a epic final showdown with lots of fast pace movement and flipping.

Yea Forumsirgins are very autistic about their memes

There was no hate for the fight. OP is inventing the hate for reasons unknown (default assumption is that he didn’t like it and wants to see why people liked it).
