Why is Steven Universe such a great male character...

Why is Steven Universe such a great male character, is it because he subverts masculine expectations and deftly sidesteps altercations through vocal reasoning?

Probably, personally I just find him charming, and I think his powers are cool, plus the pacifist stuff is kinda neat, breath of fresh air

The gloves are a little much

Attached: 7f0.gif (387x283, 3.83M)

That's honestly a wonderful concept. I don't even mind putting him in dresses. His body type and high pitched voice is just... holy shit. I thought Dipper and the duck triplets having adult voices was offputting, but I much rather prefer it over the vocal strain Steven's VA goes through. I feel like he might end up like Marge Simpson.

retard

>subverts masculine expectations
>worries about being too short
>obsesses over a single facial hair
>is the titular sole important character in a show written by women about women containing mostly female characters
>never really has to struggle too hard for too long
>unattractive, but is constantly fawned over by multiple girls
I'd say he's pretty average as far as male main characters go and not super subversive when it comes to male expectations

Don't lie anons, you KNOW you've seen some chad dress up as their cheerleader girlfriend as a cool and funny halloween/school spirit type of thing
Steven isn't subversive, Rebecca Sugar is and wants her show to be, but honestly it's just a platonic harem anime

Its funny how the more years pass the more pathetic, emotional, and beta the male MCs get. You see this in anime too (e.g. Deku). But go back a couple decades and the men were confident, masculine, and frankly not pathetic. I suppose this change reflects the average man nowadays.

Attached: soy.png (720x742, 377K)

Do people really think his voice is too high pitched? I can sort of hear it, but I guess my hearing's been dulled through years of listening to loud music.

Anyway yes, Steven is great. Bit obnoxious from time to time but who of us here isn't every so often.

I find it mildly unsettling how he’s the small plucky upbeat kid character when he’s actually in his teens and there’s little indication of him ever physically being his actual age.
It’s some serious Peter Pan shit, like he’s still physically eight-ten years old looking despite all his experiences.

I'm sure you're a paragon of masculinity then, huh?

The show treats it as such too.
> I haven't seen her in so long. She looks so different. Ugh! I thought she'd be here to see me, but maybe she's just here to have a good time. Maybe she's moved on.
> She's moved on? Wait, did you guys break up? Can 7-year-olds even do that?
> I'm 14.

He’s comfortable that way

SU is the most by the books hero's journey out there. It is in no way shape or form subversive

We're talking about the character, not the story arc for said character. Steven is definitely unique in how he approaches things.

>pacifist stuff is kinda neat, breath of fresh air
What time are you from, the fucking 40's? All cartoons are "muh pacifism" now.

Name 10 shows, excluding SU

Steven isn't a pacifist though.

Pink Diamond represents Lucifer who rebelled against the Trinity Godhead, which the Diamond Authority stands for.

Lucifer held special station over Earth as the Morning Star(Venus) before his downfall, much like how PD held dominion over Earth.

Lucifer decided that humanity did not need God to rule them. PD decided that the Diamonds needed to leave Earth alone.

Lucifer becomes the deceiver, or Devil, to convince Adam and Eve and other angels to rebel. PD becomes Rose Quartz, and convinces humans and other Gems to rebel.

War breaks out in heaven, resulting in the Devil being cast out with his demons, bound to the realm of the Earth. Rose Quartz and the Crystal Gems are left behind on Earth.

PD's Earth colony was established 6,000 years ago. Biblical Chronology places the rebellion in Eden approximately 6,000 years ago(give or take from our current year).
Steven is essentially the Antichrist

Attached: 1370311083771.jpg (576x384, 93K)

You're right he's just a mary sue that always gets his way by crying and preaching about feelings.

Steven’s the Anti Christ? Kick ass

He got no real age due to being a half gem, he shapeshift himself as old as he fells like he is.

The only reason he wins in the end is because of the irrational love the diamonds have for him, even though it's proven that he isn't Pink at all. Nothing about it makes any goddamn sense.
youtube.com/watch?v=0JuEwr6y04U

>even though it's proven that he isn't Pink at all. Nothing about it makes any goddamn sense.
It was proved that she was inside him all along, it makes completelly sense
The gems are literally rocks with minds and their bodies are nothing more than illusion, Pink diamond was still the same one but without her old personality.

I feel like that contradicts the entire "SHE'S GONE" thing though. Is Steven = Pink or not? If he is, then that kind of undermines a lot of the series. If not, then all he's really done is trick the Diamonds into peace.

He isn’t. But she’s gone and he’s all they have left of anything like her. Daughter runs away from home, she gets knocked up and dies giving birth, you’re gonna wanna be a part of that grandkid’s life

Its a perfect trans character Sugar really create the perfect homo

His enemies are retarded though.

>Steven = Pink or not?
They are the same person with different personalities, is like reincarnation or having your entire personality changed permanently like Venom Snake from MG

Pink real body is the stone just like all the other gems, she was there, she was clearly still sentient even though she gave away part of her old personality, she is still there, she is living inside him as part of him.

I guess I can buy that they accept that she basically committed suicide and that's why they came around in the end. But that's really fucking sad.

Gr8 b8 m8

Steven is his own person, that was the entire point of CYM. Pink's gone, it's like wiping a computer and installing a new OS. The only thing left is the gem itself and its powers.

It does seem like she was depressed by the end. Greg said how Rose tried to vent to him from time to time but he wasn't really interested in the past. Eventually she died not knowing that her sisters actually did love her and left everything for her son to fix.

Awwww shit. It has ascended to copypasta.

Attached: Thanks.png (1366x766, 799K)

I think Greg was reluctant to talk about his own past and that's why he didn't want to hear about her's. She really needed someone (other than sycophantic Pearl) to talk to.

If Greg has any flaws it's that he's too understanding and compassionate sometimes. That's only a flaw in the scope of wanting answers though, not particularly in-universe.

What's wrong with angry beavers?

>The show treats it as such too.
they made it canon that he's literally 8 years old, physically

Attached: Steven's Birthday_trim2.webm (960x540, 1.45M)

He's a good male character because he's loyal to his friends and family while staying true to his ideals.

He's shown zero sexual interest in Connie or anyone else for that matter. He's 14 and his balls have literally not dropped yet. Poor kid.

His physical age is (Supposedly) dependent on his mental maturity. So many things happened now that he should have physically aged, even if just a bit, but either he doesn't want to mature (In-universe) or the animators are just lazy.

This shit will transcend copypasta status, it will be pure meme magic

Hes a gross fat cross-dressing child.

While im sad hes setting a horrible example for young boys in the (((current year))) it makeĺs me happy to know that thousands of boys who think dressing in their sisters clothes is "normal" are being beaten beaten by their fathers.

Biddity Bumblr, Yea Forums is just like Tumblr

To be honest we don't know whats going on in Stevens bedroom he could be masturbating thinking about Connie orwatxhing porn but never expreses IT because he knows its weird.

I'm so glad that Australia is culturally behind America by about 10-15 years.

Over here women are treated equally and men aren't shit on all the time just for being men. Hell, even some of the gay guys over here are more manly than American betas.

It's really shocking to see how weak America has become.

In Season 2 he expressed interest in marrying her so it's possible he's thought about her cunt or how cute her ass is at some point, right?

I completley agree, the guy is an allegory for jesus but he's probably no enoch

You're gonna use the 80s helicopter parent angle? Fucking seriously?

So you genuinely believe children copy shit they see on Tv, verbatim, like it's just some kind of brainwashing unit that all children have to obey because they are incapable of looking away having independent thoughts that differ from what they are seeing.

Attached: 1547764606810.png (1151x823, 253K)

He would be, if he and the story weren't written so poorly

The story is written fine, the pacing is what hurts it.

Steven is written by and for people that hate masculine men but love masculine women. All the male characters in this show are either effeminate, despicable, or just totally inconsequential. I've never seen such an irresponsible romanticization of the absence of a strong father figure, it comes across as some Rachel Maddow-tier propaganda for lesbian parents.

they were so cute together, why did they turn Connie into a huge bitch and Steven into a bigger faggot?

Attached: Hugs.png (1180x660, 596K)

>Implying they're not still cute together

I know Cartoon Network pays you people to remind this board this shit show exists frequently, but you really need to come up with better thread ideas than "meaningless and empty praise" like the last few ones you've done.

Holy shit anyone that represents that meme doesn't know how the fuck to stand up for themselves. Maybe talk with your gf about any hangups and shit BEFORE getting married?

FFS talk to each other, if you're not compatible then move the fuck on and find someone who wants what you want.

And kick their asses to the curb before they cuck ya. Unless you like watching your wife prefer another man instead of joining in and spitroasting her, you fucking weak ass.

Steven Universe is the biggest failure of a character. He is incompetent, a fagot (see OP picture) and despite being a leftist propaganda manages to be a fuck up on this level that his message is literally.
>I'm cool with space Hitler now and you need to like space Hitler the same way I like him.

Oh and the plot makes no sense characters do things for no reason whatsoever.
Faggot talk about fee-fees in a universe full of sissy space aliens.

WoW there friend looks like you did have too much to think there.

Awwww, did someone’s feelings get hurt when the Diamonds didn’t get killed?

>Awwww, did someone’s feelings get hurt
More disinterested. Do you seriously think people who think like me get PTSD from cartoons?
> when the Diamonds didn’t get killed?
More reflecting at the absurdity of a world where this crap works.
And this is saying a lot.
Name any situation where talking like him helped in the real world.
Bank robbery?
Hostage situation?
Brawl?

SU is the most unrealistic cartoon of them all at least other ones are grounded in reality more because they don't say whatever he is doing works.
And what was it exactly he did?
Say what exactly?
>Something something something this is wrong something something
And all was changed.
What was it all about?
Not even the SU-faggs can answer what happened there because the string of words he produced is devoid of any meaning.

Attached: hisomu_yoshiharu_13189.jpg (650x650, 64K)

i'd like to know a couple of shows in which enemies are violent yet the characters solve the problems with pacifism, since there's so many, name a few, there's wonder over yonder, steven universe, what else?

You’re right, god forbid the show about about polymorphic sentient rocks be anything that’s even slightly unrealistic,

he didn't kill himself tho, can you really be called a trans if you didn't kill yourself?

one of the posts you quoted had an image of evangelion, which contradicts the claim you're supporting
not that i'd expect your facebook-transplant boomer ass to know even the most gateway of anime
nice "did have too much to think" you fucking casual

even by your most outdated /pol/-baiting statistics, the majority of trans don't kill themselves, objectively and numerically speaking, unless you live in some bizarre universe where anything under 50% still constitutes "most", which you probably do since you don't give a shit about actual facts

Nice try.
There is a difference between having fantastical elements (super powers, time travel).
And the character logic not making any sense(because we must use human reasoning for the gold standard in all of fiction regardless if people in it can fly and shoot lasers from their eyes).
And SU levels of action and dialog not making any sense in the "I can not believe this is not badly translated from some Korean cartoon" way.

Picture related.

And I mean literally make no sense whatsoever see HunterXHunter where you are basically watching some alien logic. Its alien and strange only it kind of makes sense in a strange Nietzschean Darwinist I'm a Klingon proud warrior race way.
Not like SU.

Attached: Aybabtu.png (240x160, 9K)

Except we can’t use human reasoning, because humans and Gems are explicitly different , we’re talking about an immortal race with a completely different biology, completely different way of life, , a big point if Gems and Humans having different ways of seeing things, White’s way of life is that she’s always right, and most would never dare say otherwise out of fear, but when you look at living proof you were wrong about so, so, so much, you know you’re not perfect, and when you define yourself by that, literally define your world , you collapse

>know even the most gateway of anime
>nice "did have too much to think" you fucking casual
OK its on.
I know you Americans think you are really cool getting into anime so late however lets talk.
We watched anime before you started jerking to it and thinking how its great.

Lets talk how
""Fighting General Daimos"" (attempt to translate into English no real official translation of the show exists) and how its main character is portrayed.
Tōshō Daimos
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tōshō_Daimos

How is the character of the main protagonist there VS Evangelion?
>one of the posts you quoted had an image of evangelion

You are taking about this?
You mean Evangelion the angst child protagonist or his gay friend from the one episode?
Meanwhile in
" "Fighting General Daimos""
You have a protagonist who is a grown man and fights a war with a political undertone and is womanizing and interested in romance. And dates like a real grown man not the analyst little child Shinji.

And you find you have no ability to ever respond to me because you have no fucken idea what ""Fighting General Daimos"" is and you did call me out for
>know even the most gateway of anime
I know Evangelion do you know ""Fighting General Daimos"" ?

Attached: 541.jpg (500x546, 60K)

You're just cherry-picking. Yeah the 80s had Fist of the North Star but it also had Kimagure Orange Road. It's no different today.

Yes, user. I do like how effeminate the devil's incarnate is.

THIS

Attached: samurai_jack.the_scotsman.jpg (200x200, 13K)

There's a difference between a joke and a statement, in that one is rooted in ridicule. Though in the jock's case it's at least self-depreacting.
You are right though. Didn't think about it till now, but it's funny how a show that tries it's best to be different winds up being the same.

A boy on the cusp of manhood can't spend the whole day whackering.

Dude, that’s what Rose’s Room is for

>Except
Except you just painted yourself into a corner.
Everyone take notes the SU-Fagg is so desperate to defend the abortion of a plot in his crappy show he is going to debate all of philosophy, mathematics, biology, history and science in the real world.

And you took this debate into the realm of reality now. Because to know what a alien is or what to expect from them requires real astrobiology. And let me give you a spoiler alert none of the real world science supports anything you have to say.

> because humans and Gems are explicitly different
Irrelevant.
You just started a debate with all of science.

First we know that REAL aliens must obey common principles to us.
They need to utilize the same science like we do.
They all conclude that having square wheels is bad and using round ones is good.

They utilize the same power sources like we do since its literally impossible for anyone to violate the laws of physics regardless of how alien it is.
>b-b-b-b-b they are aliens
is irrelevant to the conversation.
All must conclude that a straight line is the shortest distance.

Especially if we are talking about gems where you don't have the excuse of "they don't have hands they have 8 tentacles so this is why" (and this will influence their ergonomics in their technology) because gems are perfectly humanoid and look like humans.

So we have humanoid aliens and you can not build a rocket or a wagon if you are insane or have brain damage or evolved wrong.
Because if you say
1+1=2
1+2=3
1+3= BANANA
1+3=5
1+4=5

Your technology will explode. So the aliens MUST have minds capable of thinking and not be insane or have massive mental defects or be basically animals if we are talking alien civilizations.

So with this out of the way.

Attached: shovedownmythroat.png (301x250, 44K)

We can conclude that their reasoning must be in the realm of our reasoning or they can not operate their technology this is how real aliens in the real world must function.

So what are you comparing your fictional aliens to ?

If its not reality and real science then what? Because you can not say muh aliens and contradict everything science has to say about it in the real world.

We know of only humans however we know of different ideologies and cultures and this is where history comes in. Based on this and astrobiology we can speculate about aliens.

And let me get straight to the point none what the gems do is remotely coherent with anything.
I did say Hunter X Hunter has different orientated people then us(who think murder is LOL cool). And 40K Has actually a incredibly sophisticated ideology even if the aliens will conclude you are heresy there is a reasoning to it they are not insane.

SU gems don't have anything. They are poorly written characters who operate under no logic whatsoever.
And you need to stop humiliating yourself by trying to play the alien card.

Attached: action-figure-hot-toys-matrix-sentinel-05.jpg (1600x1064, 243K)

First of all, you are not “all of science” i’m Arguing with you, deal with it.
Secondly
Not necessarily, given the properties of Gems, and their technology, we can’t exactly conclude their technology is similar to ours or even operates on the same property, if we look at the Crossover Nexus, and Uncle Grandpa crossover, we found ourselves in a Multiverse Of science and magic, and in such one, we can’t conclude they have the same basis as we do, and in a work of fiction, alternative energies are possible, and from what we’ve seen from Diamonds, they’re more like cosmic energy and not every gem looks like a human, as we can see from the object like Gems from the Diamond’s Palace, because that’s what their needed for, admittedly, and while we can conclude they are capable of thought, that doesn’t mean they have our way of thought, because once again
>AYYLMAOs
Fiction does not adhere to fact, the mere concept of Gems should be impossible, but SU has that, which means science got kicked out the window and floated up

Evangelion was ahead of its time.

>is it because he subverts masculine expectations
the problem isn't that SU subverts them, it's that they go way too far in doing it.

Telling male kids that it's okay to cry sometimes is fine because bottling up your emotions isn't healthy. However, Steven is a whiny little bitch with a martyr complex that cries all the time. One extreme to the other.

Attached: 1369848561001.jpg (1099x1099, 549K)

Dude always bottles up his emotions, he’s always willing to listen and help others, but you need a crowbar for him to talk about his own troubles,

>deftly sidesteps altercations through yelling STOOOOOOOOOOOP

That don't make you wanna marry someone, maybe it's because I'm a beta male but you marry them because you view life as a journey or hike and you want them to come along thinking about sex is for making kids, you can fuck anybody. This is more then just fucking!

Attached: DownrightAdorableEsok.gif (500x208, 1.84M)

Attached: pearlonnie.jpg (1200x1600, 373K)

You are getting desperate are you not?
You know other fandom's accept bad writing or things getting absurd or not making sense.
I have not seen anyone argue the stupidity of their canon based on:
> b-b-b-b-b Superman is alien
or
>b-b-b-b-b-b Shazam has magic in it
So if you are ever questioning why people don't like SU-faggs like you here is why.

>we can’t exactly conclude their technology
What we can exclude is that they will never all be insane or incapable of thought.
Because you need to have thinking to realize that burning yourself alive = bad and not be basically a random number generator doing random things around to have any technology.

>, alternative energies are possible
Desperate wanking don't try to distract with things like they have 8 tentacles and not hands. We all know this however this has nothing to do with them having intelligence or not being insane.

This leads us to the other subject if gems can function with technology and understand it they must be sane and reasonable.
You can not hand wave this away.
This must dictates (excluding edge cases you are not even familiar in SF) they can reason since there is only one reasoning or you can not conclude straight lines are the shortest distance. And therefore you can not into technology, any technology.

Since any alien(civilized) requires to have any reasoning gems can not be excused.

And reasoning is not interested in what program you run on it the same way a processor is not interested what program you run on it.

Its irrelevant if you run
if (xeno==true){exterminate();}
if(person.says=="questions the emperor"){person.status=="heresy";}
if(person.status=="heresy"){kill(person);}

You realize how easy it is to put all human reasoning in a format like this? And I'm asking you what the "programming" of the gems is. What are they on about? Because nothing follows any reasoning they behave insanely and if they are insane they can not pilot or operate technology.

Attached: d7ff0eb3df862e1b921668b57aae0e87.jpg (499x468, 68K)

First of all, neat, I’m a heretic
Secondly, they do have a reasoning, basically just do whatever the Diamonds want, and the other Diamonds have, so wgatever the helll White wants, her logic is, I am Perfect, only perfect one, I need perfection, last resort, have me be it, she wants the best from everyone and defined her society by her rules, Gemkind themselves operate on sort of a mix of familial/religious, White is the Creator, and her Diamonds are also creator, but to a lesser extent than White, everything is done to please the ones who made you, who give you everything you are, it’s their version of sane, it’s insane to not do so, like being a kid and disobeying your mom, or being a worshipper and disobeying that who you worship,

Hug Buddys

You are ironically more a cartoon character than the child in the OP. Good job.

Attached: connie.png (405x567, 95K)

She got better

Attached: B1225F0B-7437-4972-BF47-53FC27B2E063.jpg (564x1054, 202K)

what's wrong with that?

That episode was unironically good, it was season 1 and he truly behave like a kid back then.
The biggest problem was after Jailbreak, where, after 2 seasons, he truly matured: he finally began to fight as a Crystal Gem; learned about the consequences of his action - and of his mother; became "more than friends" with Connie; and so on. But, instead of growing up (as it was previously established), they just ignore it, made him even shorter a few episode later, and then flanderized his character.

Nice delusion ausfag

Fuck, it was season 2, which make it even worse that the set up was never paid off.

You know this started off with some pretty solid discussion

Did the SU-fagg run out of insults?

I love the irony of SU-faggs bitching about character while ignoring all the problems in the show.
Especially that its canon that he changes his mental age based on his own perception and can fuck himself over turning into a literal toddler or super old man.

I mean you have this in the show however you keep on bitching about his relationships.
Whats next outraged that Superman can jump out of windows and not get hurt despite the fact that you know he can fly?

pic is retarded the gems did not age just changed their look

>except Steven no longer has this issue
Name when this stopped.
He still has shape shifting it is still dangerous it still can fuck him over.
>Implying he is not subconsciously shape shifting into more of a child

And with this episode all your pointless drama of muh Steven proportions and muh Steven mental age is explained away.

We can now concentrate on everything that ACTUALLY is wrong about SU.

Attached: stevenuniverse-catfingers-580x326.jpg (580x326, 44K)

>Name when this stopped.
by the end of the episode it started showing up
there's no way Steven is mentally 8 years old, if this were the problem and why he started stagnating it would've been brought up
>So he's not going to grow up?
>Well, it's hard to say. He's a Gem, and Gems don't really grow up.
he stagnated because he's part gem and gems are a stagnant race

>subverts masculine expectations

How is this a good thing?

>fagg with two g's
How fucking autistic can one sperg be?

Masculinity is toxic.

He is good for autists and downies because they finally have a hero they can relate to.

How so?

>Masculinity is toxic

If everything is about sex and fucking everything you see than yes it's toxic. Masculinity should be about protecting the young and weak.

He has a shield and can punch through a dude's head if he wanted to. If he and Connie have kids I'd say they're good.

Let's take this discussion to the /trash/ where it belongs.

PD was Trans all along.

Trans gemder.

nice arguing around circles buddy
didn't prove anything though

Want to talk about me not knowing anime?
I know Evangelion do you know ""Fighting General Daimos"" ?

Want to talk about the character of the main hero is ""Fighting General Daimos"" ?
Here is the point that disproves you.

>SU is the most by the books hero's journey out there
I think you should go back and read that book again, just to double check.

I'm not cherrypicking. In that era you speak of, most MCs followed the Fist of the North Star trend then. Yeah, of course not 100% of the men were masculine but most were. Now the trend is the opposite.

He's not, a healer that has to have mary sue powers to be able to defend himself is not a well written character.

Define exactly which "mary sue powers" Steven has.

Multiple types of shields, super strength, flying, telekinesis/reading minds, possessing other people's bodies, healing spit and tears, bringing the dead back to life, giving life to inanimate objects, deus ex machina diamond aura/omnipresent god mode when he gets knocked out, deus ex machina invincible pink steven for back up when his gem gets pulled out, impenetrable plot armor, talk no jutsu, etc

Also the fact he can apparently possess beings from lightyears away

I legit think he's probably one of the most developed characters of the series.

At the start he was an innocent (and pretty annoying) little kid who's biggest concerns were getting a basic understanding of his powers and shoving cookie cat down his gullet.

He then has to deal with things like fearing for Connie's safety after learning the real threat that Homeworld poses in the S1 finale.

He then goes on to feel the weight of responsibility for being the reason the Rose is no longer around which plays an important part in his relationship with Pearl.

He is then met with multiple failures as he is unable to convince Bismuth to stand down and Jasper to accept his healing which makes him feel immense guilt.

He then feels even more guilt when he finds out that his mother possibly killed someone and since his gem was handed down to him from her he feels like he shares responsibility for her sins.

This all culminates in him deciding to sacrifice himself which was both a very brave thing to do and an example of how he doesn't trust himself as leader and feels the best thing for him to do is die so that his friends can hopefully live in peace.

Then by the most recent episodes he finally overcomes his selfdoubt and identity crisis surrounding his mother and learns to accept himself for who he is and be the best person the he can be.

All of that from just a stupid kid who liked to eat a lot. Unfortunately a bunch of people Yea Forums just looks at him and see a crybaby and ignore the ton of development he's undergone throughout the series and I think that is a shame.

>Multiple types of shields
His primary established power since the beginning.
>super strength
Like all Gems.
>flying
Wrong. Dude can float... at best.
>telekinesis
Wrong. He has never demonstrated this power.
>reading minds
Wrong again. He has never read anyone's mind.
>possessing other people's bodies
Introduced slowly and became more powerful after practice. Not a mary sue power which are typically powers that are introduced to solve a problem in one stroke.
>healing spit
Established early and not reliable.
>and tears
Wrong. His tears explicitly do not heal.
>bringing the dead back to life
This one I'll give you. Though Lion foreshadowed this power, it still felt very mary sue.
>giving life to inanimate objects
Literally what Diamonds do.
>diamond aura/omnipresent god mode when he gets knocked out
It was already established he can reach out to people mentally for possession. This is an extension of that.
>invincible pink steven for back up when his gem gets pulled out
That is his raw power without anything that makes him/him. I'm betting it only seems invincible because it wasn't challenged by anything more than possession.
>impenetrable plot armor
Like every main character.
>talk no jutsu
Which is the theme of the show.

You made some minorly good points, probably by accident, but your ignorance really deflates the whole post. Please get more information about the show before you try to troll it. You just end up looking stupid otherwise.

because he's the antichrist
>muh machismo y dere so maney macho maen
literally not a problem in 2019

>Final villain is a literal monster who has committed massive atrocities
>It's cool, they feel bad so we're friends now.

The actual character growth would have been realizing that not everyone is actually good or has good intentions but that it's worth trying to reach out first.

Instead they just made a story where saying you're sorry can excuse serial genocide.

What were you expecting, execution by firing squad?

He read Lapis and Jasper's minds in Chille Tid, and his tears healed Lars, none of your other attempts at deflecting make him less of an overpowered mary sue

To take an actual approach to a complex problem like a show like star trek would, rather than pussy footing around the fact that you spent years establishing that this person runs an empire of genocide and then trying to pretend you didn't at the end.

>Star Trek
Alright, what would Kirk, Picard or Janeway want?

a resolution, probably

Picard would have attempted some form of diplomatic approach due to needing her help to fix the corrupted gems but wouldn't have forgotten that white diamond is a horrible monster and would have kept eliminating her on the table.

Janeway would have wanted the same but neither would have tolerated her being in power afterwards as she's mentally unsound and a monster.

Kirk would have fucked it then blown her up.

Steven has had a lot of character development but people ignore it because they feel the cartoon is tumblr and promoting an agenda.

A lot of people on Yea Forums have a tendency to label a character they dislike as a Mary Sue for no reason, especially if that character gets development and becomes relevant in the story.

You asked for his mary sue powers and I gave you a huge list, the only one i mistakenly listed was "telekinesis" because I had meant to type "telepathy". "Yeah but"ing them doesn't change that he has them and he's overpowered. How many other main characters have this many powers?

He is the only one who can easily talk down the fascist dictators who have ruled homeworld for tens of thousands of years because he was born with a diamond himself and is the chosen one, he gets a deus ex machina that allows him to stop white diamond in the finale, he's literal gem jesus and will never face real stakes since he can bring every dead person back to life and can't be killed, he always gets his way and has never suffered a permanent or serious loss on the show.. he's a total mary sue

He was a better character early on in the show when he was more fun and flawed and actually acted like a kid

Meant for

Define monster.

Quite frankly, it's been done better.

Attached: Mob.jpg (215x330, 9K)

It would be better if he had to train to earn his powers but they're all pretty much just handed to him at random or whenever it's convenient to the plot.

I'm sure that this thread is just made to shitpost but I think what makes Steven work is seeing how he's progressed. Steven at first was a pudgy little guy who was really earnest and wanted to play with the big kids. He started discovering powers and not knowing how to access them and always had to make up for his shortcomings with unorthodox thinking or leaning on the gems. Because he's from a different world than the gems he's able to look at things a bit differently (and a lot less objectively). So in most situations he actually has a different approach than just "kill the enemy and then hide" even if that can be against better judgement.
But beyond that, because we're locked into his perspective, we learn as he learns. It creates a connection between him and us. And as more secrets, powers and lies are revealed to him we see the person he's grown into follow suit. And as much as he's happy to be a Crystal Gem, they're no longer some idols he aspires to be. Rather they're his family that he desperately wants to protect, from others and themselves. I wouldn't say he's the "leader" but he's certainly the thing that keeps the Gems and Beach City stable.
I can't really say he subverts too many masculine expectations other than wearing feminine attire a few times. I mean it's not like talking things out isn't something male characters do (Naruto's infamous for it.) I think he just knows who he is and is at least no longer trying not to be someone else.

Attached: 1486001164084.gif (500x399, 1.39M)

I remember most people bashing early Steven because they felt he was useless and flawed. Then when Steven started to mature and overcome his flaws, a lot of people started complaining that he shouldn't have developed.

I don't think Rebecca Sugar is trying super hard to be subversive. I think that's just a narrative people like to push because her show is so very tied to the new movement of progressiveness. But nothing from interviews or on her blogs makes me think she wants to make something truly subversive. She just wants to make the kinda story she'd enjoy when she was a kid.

I vote Kirk.

I dunno what you mean. He feels adamant about watching the snow with her, He feels so broken up about her not talking to him that he hangs out with Kevin all day to get help get her back. I mean he's not really trying to kiss or date her in any uncertain terms because he's cool with just being friends but it's pretty clear that he's very interested in her. He hasn't shown that amount of attachment to any of his other friends.

based kirk

He trains over the course of the series. Just because it doesn't pop out like a new Super Saiyan form doesn't mean he had to work for them. Look at the healing tears, he had to feel real grief to make those work and it's not like he's had friends dying left and right. It is convenient sure, but no story is without its conveniences at times.

Quick reminder that Josuke is only two years older than Steven and he's already a 6 foot tall Chad.
I guess Goblino and Gem genetics are a crapshoot compared to the noble British and Japanese bloodlines.

Attached: Josuke about to fist his mother.jpg (1280x720, 89K)

It's because it's not a training thing. It's a state of mind thing. Steven can't access his shield without his strong desire to protect people, Steven's healing power was weakened and inconsistent when Greg accidentally made him believe he couldn't do it anymore. His ability to astral project is one that he could only do unconsciously in his sleep. And his ability to float wasn't discovered until he felt the relief of finally coming home after a long sabbatical. And he couldn't fuse until he decided to dance with a friend for fun and could only fuse with another gem when they found a mutual focal point with their own shared lack of confidence.
And even THEN we're shown that Steven not only cannot use half of those aforementioned powers on command but we DO see Steven trying to master them and failing until such a time that he needs to.

People probably would've understood it better if the missions and such (monster of the week episodes) were more of a thing. I get the feeling Ian pushed for those since he likes the cartoon action whereas Rebecca is more about what makes SU...SU in the first place: The working through of emotions.

And hey, Ian's coming back for the movie and he also worked on CYM so there's that.

SU critics on Yea Forums will say anything to make the show look bad. The show would have been far worse if they never bothered to develop Steven and everyone would be complaining about it. Instead they actually made him a character who works to be stronger both physically and emotionally and people still complain because at the end of the day they need to complain about the show no matter what it does.

And here's his best friend, same age.

Attached: KoichiHirose.png (432x834, 694K)

I'm going to give people the benefit of the doubt and say a lot of those people in particular are being contrarian. You'll rarely find a devoted SU fan who doesn't have a complaint here or there, like for me I think the writing of the show is solid but it's the STRUCTURE of the show that lets it down. Eleven minute format, Steven POV (even though I'm fine with that more than most) but you'll never get that far in a lot of these discussions since it's just easier to say "shit writing" and have a bunch of other people agree with you. Thankfully there has been a pushback against this sort of thing since like the middle of season 5 so it's not as bad as it used to be.

Ian and Rebecca almost kinda seem like a good team. As much as I love OK. KO, I can't help but feel that a Rebecca directed episode would be pretty good. Rebecca is better at characters interacting to each other while Ian is better at set pieces that move the story along while not being dull. Which is why now SU feels like a boring slog with no driving force and OK KO feels like a disconnected series of cool ideas with very little core to it.

Seems like KO may be over so maybe Ian will come back to SU for a bit? Does seem kind of random to have him help board a feature-length episode AND a movie.

I completely agree with you. SU is by no means a perfect show and the 11 minute format just doesn't work well with the kind of story they're trying to tell, but instead of acknowledging the flaws and strengths of the shows there are just people out there who will go into every SU thread and relentlessly shit on it for the stupidest reasons. Thankfully within the next 10 years the hate will probably die down and people can actually have a normal conversation about the show more often.

I mean he was one of the major people on it and those are probably two of the biggest pieces of Steven Universe media we'll ever have besides possibly the series finale so it makes sense for him to return for a little bit to help out. Creators don't have to exclusively work on one show.

> I think that's just a narrative people like to push because her show is so very tied to the new movement of progressiveness

latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-comic-con-2017-steven-universe-rebecca-sugar-fluorite-1500664224-htmlstory.html

Don't remind me. SU without Ian is painful to watch

>In a relationship with a 10/10 cutie
>Resourceful and smart, can carry on by himself, fools a high IQ murderer several times
>Survives a huge amount of the story with a weak long-distance Stand
>Becomes friends with people for who he is, instead of forcing his personality onto others.
>Matures and grows as a person according to how the world changes around him
>Gains the respect of the veteran in the series because of his actions.
and your point is?

Point was that people physically mature at different rates, and it’s gen weirder when some of them aren’t exactly human

Why Steven is overpowered like fuck.
1) He gets multiple powers as time moves on. If you remember people in the fandom did say he is getting to OP. I mean every other gem has 1 power Lapis = water, Sapphire = future prediction.

While OP boy gets more and more powers.
At first it was healing and you are like:
OK its his power from his mother so he has this one thing.

Then he gets more and more powers his Diamond connection in his dreams.

His possession.
Don't forget Rose managed to keep her changed form for a incredibly long time while other gems must revert back so was Rose having the power of perma shape-shifting.
His floating.

The floating was the point everyone was saying if he is not a Diamond himself we have insane power creep.

2) He is a Diamond. Its literally like him being a god. Not only are his OP power sets validated and there is possibility of him getting more powers. Not only this because e is a diamond all antagonists instantly stop fighting him and love him. simply because he is a diamond.

3) Even more power bullshit, his entering the statue dimension or whatever this shit was.
him Emitting brainwash waves in the statue dimension or whatever this shit was.

I think he was talking about DS9 and its space Nazis.

Oh I’ve never seen that or Star Trek, I only know about the captains through KOTH

he’s gonna go full on Caitlyn Jenner when the show reaches its inevitable series finale, isn’t he?

I’m calling it right now.

Not sure if you're saying this is in contrast to Steven or if you're just defense forcing Koichi, who is one of my favorite Jojo characters in general I'll just say
>resourceful and smart
Steven's shown to be too.
>Survives a huge amount of the story with a weak long-distance stand
And Steven survives a long amount of the series without access to his gem powers including his super strength or agility. He's basically a normal human for the 1st season and a half.
>Becomes friends with people for who he is instead of forcing his personality on others
Steven does this too? Outside of someone like Lars I think Steven tends to just make friends out of the merits of being nice and dependable, like Koichi.
>Matures and grows as a person according to the world changes around him
So does Steven. He's definitely not the same little kid futzing around thinking ice cream gave him his powers and falling on his face.
>Gains he respect of the veteran in the series because of his actions.
If we're considering the Crystal Gems the "veteran" then yeah, Steven's definitely done that.

I think the statue dimmension is just a visual way of showing his already established ability to astral project through dreams. It's his way of interacting with everyone in short bursts. It's more of an extension of a power we've been shown than a brand new one.
Also I think the floating thing is a thing that all the gems can do. That's why they always land softly despite jumping millions of feet in the air. We've definitely seen Rose do it.

It's just astral projection on a higher scale and it triggers when he's unconcious. Yellow curb stomping you would have that effect.

There were stinkers during his tenture too, he's not some magical cure-all.

This is why I did say "or whatever this shit was" because I don't know if this is a new powers or old ones.

However you slice or dice it its literally a show where the main character is revealed to be a Diamond the most powerful of all the gems.

And if making him a god was not enough simply him being a Diamond makes all the Diamonds love him and stop all hostility to him.

Not because of what he did simply because he has this status of being PD.
And this ends all conflict in the show, no gems are after him.

You tell me what this is.

My little cousin but he was pretending to be a king

>love him
>he’s family,
I find your naked acceptance based only on someones birth to be repulsive.
>You're forgetting one point:
You ignore that the main antagonist empire was pacified by simply showing the ancestry of Steven.

Homosexuals can be identified by the way they walk.

Steven's "ancestry" nearly got him killed. It's a good job Pink really is gone otherwise Greg would would be waiting a long time for them coming back from Earth, if not forever.

I really hope Steve gets to fight a Real villain now, hopefully something like
>A huge chunk of the Gem empire says fuck being nice and become space pirates.
>Have the prominent villain be an off color or intelligent corruption/mutant who is physically incapable of empathy due to being fucked up.

Not trying to shoot down your idea since that is the direction I feel it'll go, but it'll be less Outlaw Star and more...well Outlaw Star with talking and feelings than anything. Emerald or Aquamarine would make good antagonists.

>Steven's "ancestry" nearly got him killed
I'm talking about him being PD.
>nearly got him killed
Tell me how this nearly got him killed or any of the things I did say in are not true.

You simply can not.

The now cured corrupted gems could provide a lot of conflict, since many of them are either former Crystal Gems or loyal Homeworld gems and both sides might be furious about how Rose was actually Pink Diamond.
They could start fighting each other again, or against Steven for what his mother did, the possibilities are there, but I bet we will all be disappointed when they all become friends anyways.

I don't see why it matters. When that happened we went right into the final arc of S5 where conflict wasn't the point until they ran out of options (which they did and got thrown in jail).

You're horribly mistaken
Most cartoons nowadays are Social Justice Warrior. Indeed, WARRIOR. They all breath this "fight for justice" morale which is pure poison to people with inferiority complexes. In fact, it turned a generation with some of the most vanilla, harmless goals of all time (like equality, love, acceptance) into the most annoying, abrasive, single minded cunts you could imagine. Rebecca, the dyke she is, showed those people an alternative in SU, and that's nice. F.

Attached: 1515532619314.jpg (858x539, 160K)

Wrong the only hope for SU is for them to pull a Su moment with
Actually you know we are at war with these other aliens, gigantic evil and are pushing us back, you know the resource shortage we have?
They are kind of a big thing.

Attached: 260px-ReturnOptimusPrime_Quintesson_holding_tool.jpg (260x197, 22K)

I think the resource crisis is more due to Pink leaving than anything. Notice how it happened in Era 2 and Peridot came out short because of it.

Pfff.
Want to talk about how Bismuth the "fight the cast system revolution now" gem is super happy fun fun time with Steven and learning the rebellion was a lie. And not talking about the cast system? notice how the cast system is never questioned only Stevens Gay shit and nonsense dialog in the ending episodes.

Saiyans mature slowly

The rebellion wasn't a lie, Rose's identity was and the caste system is explicitly referenced in CYM.

newfag

I honestly dont see Homeworld changing completely overnight just because the Diamonds befriended Steven.
Like they still need to colonize and destroy worlds for their race to multiply, they won't just stop doing that. They might be more tolerant to fusions and off colors, that or they just decide to send them to Earth where they would be accepted as banishment.

Definitely, this is where the series will go from here (if anywhere).

Why the planet destroying super weapon then?

I feel it will be like in S2 where we learn:
Oh yes BTW Steven there was a war and we lost we are the remnants on this planet and there is a super evil empire and we did not tell this to you because, not telling kids strangers are dangerous is the cool thing, and me not telling you that yes the monsters are actually our beloved friends and not some evil monsters was because .... I'm a sadist and my pussy gets wet when my loved ones are hurt so I wanted you to hit my friends as hard as humanly possible and hit them while they are sick and confused because this is how I warm up for my nightly masturbation.

Notice how everything I told you was perfectly acceptable to tell you at any point(Not like me being a Nazi robot slave) and I did not do it, hell I did not even inform you of this off screen like most of the tings we hide from the audience to disguise the most basic of plots as something deep and mysterious.

Attached: 5a7.png (1280x716, 716K)

The cluster? That was to destroy the Earth so Yellow wouldn't have to be reminded of how Pink died. She was the one who gave Pink the Earth in the first place (as she notes in Reunited during the mind palace bit).

I like how the Cluster was pretty much the biggest fuck you to Earth Yellow could do. Like they had already blasted Earth with the corruption so as far as they knew the Crystal Gems were all gone, but that wasn't enough for her, she decided to forcibly fuse all the remains of the shattered CG since they loved fusion so much into a monster to destroy the planet they loved as well.
Its just so damn petty I love it.

Bismuth "the I kill every Diamond"
Bismuth "the I kill everyone who prevents me from killing the Diamonds"
Reacting with anything then screaming insane rage to learning Rose = PD.

Character consistency everyone!
SU characters everyone!

She did scream

>The cluster?
Don't they have other planet killers? Why spawn a weapon after the planet is destroyed?
Weapon for what?

Bismuth killing the Diamonds was something she worked on in secret and she did scream in rage, she just got it out of her system.

Cluster is subterfuge so I guess it's just one last fuck you like says. "You won the battle but you lost the war FUCKERS".

You cut out the "screaming insane rage".
>Reacting with anything then screaming insane rage to learning Rose = PD.
You are getting desperate.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 61K)

Have you really never heard of screaming into a pillow to get anger out of your system? That's what the joke was.

Why not just restore the old Human Empire through any means?

Talking to SU fanboys is like talking to Lost fanboys.
How can you try to damage control it at this point her character was changed and any character changes to whatever the writers want to make out of them into regardless of how illogical.
Zero consistency.
Especially that if a gem is bubbled there is no time passing for her.

Who is Bismuth supposed to complain to, user. Her defining characteristic isn't "angry monkey" no matter how hard Yea Forums tries to push it.

This is not the reaction you make after learning your life is a lie.
And your president was secretly Hitler.

Attached: its-a-hat-my-whole-life-is-a-lie-the-3865349.png (500x804, 136K)

Screaming in anger isn't the reaction? What is it, then.

Meh, people process shit differently

bitch, Australia restricts its citizens when OTHER countries have a spree killing

>Bismuth
Made her life around this.
Moments ago she was in a battle with Steven.
Its established she gets extremely angry about this subject.
The only reactions she should get is:
A)Screaming insane rage.
B)Wanting to kill Steven even more since he and his mother are Diamonds see Bismuth hates the diamonds.
C) nerves break down
D) Fear.
E)Mixture of the above.

>Meh, people process shit differently
its integral to her core personality.
>Screaming in anger isn't the reaction? What is it, then.

To be a SU fanboy you need to think this is
>Screaming in anger

Yet you bitch about some cheap Korean studio drawing Steven 3 fingers shorter then normal yet a character getting 100% reworked form 1 second to the next is somehow not noticeable.

Attached: bis_fight.png (630x355, 202K)

Mmm, no I honestly don’t recall ever complaining about the animation.

She made peace with Steven right before she poofed. Did you forget that? There's no one left to rage at, that's the point of the episode and why she almost exiles herself because of it. War's over, no point in dwelling on it past processing the information. Calling people fanboys isn't really helping your case either when you're being arrogant without actually knowing what you're talking about.

That only proves his point. Toriyama has had his fair share of creepy moments, all in the name of wanting to have his cake and eat it too.

I agree, I was expecting more from her. But at the same time it did remind me of how she oddly underreacted to learning Rose was dead and "transformed" into a little boy
>Hi, um... actually, I'm Rose's son. She kinda turned into me... well, I have her gem, the rest is from my dad.
>Rose really is something else. I mean... Look at this! She really is somethin' else! Wow! Everythin's changin'! And we're buildin' bases out of wood now?!
and it's not like that isn't huge news too. In that way it didn't strike me as inconsistent.

Frankly though Bismuth's reintroduction was lacking. Everyone was expecting a more exciting Bismuth reintroduction, earlier I even deluded myself into thinking there may be some Bismuth Lapis friction at some point. But it was just sort of a wet fart of an episode. I don't blame the audience for expecting a more explosive reaction out of Bismuth, that seemed to be a trend when I watched a few reactions of these episodes.

Attached: Bismuth_115.png (1920x1080, 1.3M)

>Did you forget that?
The second she is reactivated she starts blaming him.
SitCom blaming him however she was blaming him.
So your theory gouges right into the trash.

And you know what really works great to make someone antagonize you more? Telling a Nazi you are a Jew! Or Telling a Bismuth you are a Diamond!

You can expect something like:
>Is this a sick game for you, you diamond?! Is putting gems to fight one another the way you get your sick thrills?!

Attached: 1308693297001.jpg (600x579, 62K)

The eleven minute format really hampers things and I will agree Made of Honor should have been spicier. I liked it a fair bit, but it's no The Question or Reunited for sure.

>The second she is reactivated she starts blaming him.
no she doesn't
>Hm-? I'm back?
>Hey, Bismuth! Long time, no see...?
>Rose. I mean, Steven! Why would you let me out? I just tried to shatter you.
she knows he isn't Rose and doesn't blame him for anything she did, that's the whole point of her final talk with Steven moments before poofing
>You really are better than her...

>Rose was dead
Remember that she did have a disagreement with Rose and I bet some good old hostility so learning Rose was dead was good from her perspective.

You notice how she reacts after learning of her comrades death.
However this was before the fandom decided to be backseat writing for SU, especially Bismuth.

I mean it was extremely important for her.
And after learning all of this it would not be:
>Hahahahahahaha so funny so this is why she did not want me to shatter PD
it would be
>you sick fuck, you played me! You played all of us! All of my friends dead! because of you! So this is why!

Attached: HH.jpg (1200x630, 87K)

The joys of talking to SU fanboys
youtube.com/watch?v=K_fM2qvpzrU
Remember her flipping over the bubbled gems?
Because this is the part you skipped and she is hostile or distanced from the start.

you notice her getting angry after saying
>Only a diamond can do this
And learning the RQ=PD should have flipped her out more.
However the plot decided to give her different emotions.

Her friends mutated.
Her emotional freaking over Roses private bubble collection.
Her learning Rose was a diamond.

This should instantly push her over the edge into rage and into the:
>Was all of this PDs sick game?

Not into the
>LEL Hahahahahahaha so funny so this is why she did not want me to shatter PD

The characters make no sense whatsoever.

You're confusing what you want to happen and what is actually happened. Steven explained everything, Bismuth screamed her head off and slowly made peace with it. She wasn't OK with all her friends being corrupted or whatever shit you're talking about. You know this though, you're just looking for a reaction with your poorly worded posts.

>so learning Rose was dead was good from her perspective.
No, she definitely still revered Rose.
>Rose Quartz changed my life. I came to Earth thinking this was just another colony. Build another arena for important fighters to fight in, build another spire for important thinkers to think in, and then, I met her. Just another Quartz soldier, made right here in the dirt, but she was different. And she was different because she decided to be. And she asked me what I wanted to build, and I'd never heard that before. And gems never hear they can be anything other than what they are, but Rose opened our eyes...

And similarly, think about it: did she really have a "adequate" reaction to learning everyone was shattered and she's been bubbled for thousands of years? Not really. She was making pizza burritos and playing cards the same afternoon. It wouldn't be a wrong interpretation to say perhaps she kept her feelings buried, since when talking about Rose later with Steven she's a lot more somber about her being gone similar to the RQ=PD stuff.
>Why? Why are the Crystal Gems still together? After finding out that everything was a sham!

You said
>The second she is reactivated she starts blaming him.
she didn't start blaming "him" aka Steven. She knows he isn't Rose, she knows Rose is truly gone. That was the point of the reply. She didn't have anyone to flip out at, she'd probably attack Rose again if she could. But yeah Made of Honor was meh.

>No, she definitely still revered Rose.
No I say it she was telling half truths at this point, Rose changed her life however she can not tell anyone she did have a disagreement with Rose.

>she didn't start blaming "him" aka Steven
She says in a menacing tone while looking at him
>ROSE
Then corrects herself and in the same tone says
>STEven
I mean everyone can see the clip.
youtube.com/watch?v=K_fM2qvpzrU

She was upset and confused then starts obsessing over the other gems and gets a monster free, then is even more angry.

> Rose again if she could
Maybe yet there is another diamond next to her, a diamond she can shatter to kill Rose and PD namely Steven gem.

And how can she know its not a trick a sick game Rose is playing all this time a sick game PD is playing all of this time?

>subverts masculine expectations
Why do people think this is a good thing?

Attached: 1447825933328.jpg (296x266, 12K)

>I need cartoons and anime to validate my masculinity in particular, and masculinity as a concept overall: the post

I can masturbate on my own. I don't need some boomer cartoon creator pushing me to do it to feel validated.

Because it's good bait.

Attached: 1548840911958.jpg (600x849, 124K)

what did user mean by this?

>No I say it she was telling half truths at this point
Not much reason to think that, Bismuth is pretty straightforward. Bismuth disagreed with Rose and may have even attempted to shatter her in her past, but she still revered and admired her. The Crystal Gems would not exist if not for her. You can hear the reverence in her voice.

Bismuth fumbled over herself, but she definitely knows Steven isn't Rose.
>What's going on? Did Rose do this? Did she bubble everyone who disagreed with her?!
she talks about Rose as if she's a separate entity from Steven. I don't read her as being mad at Steven because if she were in the same mindset as before she would not have hesitated to attack him again, but instead she's questioning why she was freed at all. It's the natural followup to her final lines to him in her solo episode.
>You really are better than her...
Steven =/= Rose, Bismuth has no reason to hate Steven after coming to terms with that.

>Name any situation where talking like him helped in the real world.
Gandhi, Martin Luther King jr, early christians

>early christians
Are you for real?
The same Christians who managed to get the Roman emperor to make being non-christian illegal starting Romes collapse?
>Martin Luther King
Crazy drug addicted torturer who literally tortured people, there is no stretch of their imagination to make this work.
>Gandhi
One of histories greatest monsters, worse then Hitler.

Gems mind is clearly different from humans, they are born with skills from birth, they don't get bored after thousands of years alone.

Plus the fact they are from a completelly different culture, they are all sheltered and in several ways naive, due to their nature they didn't even questioned their life style at all, is shown that they start to obey orders without question right after being created.

The fact is, is easy to convince them due to they never ever making any philosphy or arguments for their cause since their society never had any need of doing that.

is it because he subverts masculine expectations and deftly sidesteps altercations through vocal reasoning

So he's Naruto but more boring?

Also 8/10 troll thread, well done.

I don’t think Gandhi led any genocides

>The same Christians who managed to get the Roman emperor to make being non-christian illegal starting Romes collapse?
Yes, they publically were against the main religion at the time and were very annoying, saying out loud things considered public, but increase their numbers by talking
>Crazy drug addicted torturer who literally tortured people, there is no stretch of their imagination to make this work.
Please point out when he used torture and or violene to achieve his goals
>One of histories greatest monsters, worse then Hitler.
Nice argument, you are worse than hittler too.

>naruto
>subvert masculine expectations
Naruto has hunger for power, thirsty for women attention, love to fight. He didn't subvert anything.

>they are born with skills from birth,
Irrelevant.
>they don't get bored after thousands of years alone
Irrelevant.
>mind is clearly
You don't know what a mind is.
>Plus the fact they are from a completelly different culture
Irrelevant.
> they are all sheltered and in several ways naive
Irrelevant

>is shown that they start to obey orders
Now we are starting to get somewhere.
If Reasoning is the thing in question you need to be rational or have reason you must have some rational faculties and obeying orders indicates reason.

They must have reason or they will simply do random things with no reason whatsoever this excludes them from obeying any orders ever.

Naruto couldn't vocally reason his way out of a paper bag.

Believe it!

I was referring to how Naruto always talks his opponents into not wanting to fight anymore.

Believe. It or not, those actually are relevant, ya we’re capable of growing from lumps of flesh to human beings, we get higher functions, we learn to walk, talk, we get shaped by our environment, Gems already know that from the start

>Irrelevant x4
Actually relevant x4.

>You don't know what a mind is.
>is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking, judgement, language and memory.
Gems don't need to develop most of their personality through childhood, time is irrelevant to them so they can be stuck in the middle of space or doing the same job forever, their mind is clearl different.

>If Reasoning is the thing in question you need to be rational or have reason you must have some rational faculties and obeying orders indicates reason. They must have reason or they will simply do random things with no reason whatsoever this excludes them from obeying any orders ever.

They follow orders since birth because they were told they had to do that by the first person they meet, they never question it again since no other gem ever disobey their superiors orders, they never face liars or rebels trying to convince them to do other orders, they never find a reason to question the authority of homeworld, so there is no need for propaganda or some philosphy that would need to be refuted against them, just showing a new point of view will be enough to make them start to rethink their lifestyle and orders.

He and his allies murdered most of his enemies.

Naruto typically talk-no-jutsu's his opponents after he beats them in physical confrontations, not before.
Steven doesn't want to fight at all and would rather everyone and everything be solved with just words, while Naruto understands first you have to beat sense into them before they will listen to you.

>Naruto typically talk-no-jutsu's his opponents after he beats them in physical confrontations, not before.
Steven stomped Jasper, Peridot and White Diamond before convincing them.

Jasper even described steven strategy as:
>I see how you do it now, Rose, you want Gems after they're worthless, you wait until after they've lost, because when you're at the bottom, you'll follow anyone, that makes you feel like less of a failure.

Is actually disturbingly similar to imperialist tactics, Muhammad also used this strategy, after stomping his enemies he used to give them "noble forgiveness" and long speeches about how they would earn his and God love.

Now want to explain what the meaningless stream of words Steven produced in the final episodes was all about?

Damn, sounds cold blooded that way

You can also tell by the way someone walks that they're a woman's man, no time to talk.

the show sells itself as this subversive and deep show about morals and lessons and shit

that the writters dont deliverie doent mean they dont try to sell it as that

>the show sells itself as this subversive and deep show about morals and lessons and shit
It really doesn't do this more than any other show.

Stop cherrypicking 'divisive' episodes and maybe watch the show

>subverts
so its jewish

>so its jewish
Did you know Steven is Jewish?
And its canon?

You can say the gems are real JEWels.
And he got it form his mothers side.

His mouth shape makes him a great male character.

>non jewish mother
>Jew
If you say that to any Rabbi he will hit you with the torah

>If you say that to any Rabbi he will hit you with the torah
This is what Rebecca(She who makes the show) is spamming all the time.
Don't blame me!

Would you say it is... master bait?

Shinji is not meant to be a role model though. You're supposed to laugh at him, like Charlie Brown

>Toriyama has had his fair share of creepy moments, all in the name of wanting to have his cake and eat it too.
The fuck are you talking about?

>Shinji is not meant to be a role model though.
The author did a fucking awful job then,he was pretty popular at school, managed to befriend both the sociopath girls and even the Angels themselves aknowledged that he is special.

>gotta put a :^) because i'm definitely not seething

>he stagnated because he's part gem and gems are a stagnant race
Different user; gems born in full form while Steven, on the other hand, didn't it, he stayed that age because he never felt the need of doing it, he never went through adolescence in part due not growing with kids his age and in part, both Greg and the gems kept treating him as an 8yo.

In both birthday episodes, it's clear that his physical form changes according to his mental state.

What would happen if he has hallucinations or his mind deteriorates?

His father is a great male character. Steven not so much.

>kill a sex addict deity with his penis
Trully the ultimate Alpha

>That Steven Universe sure has a unique look.
>Mm. I used to be quite a looker myself, you know.
>What happened?
>Rebecca Sugar started drawing me.
>OHOHOHOHOHO!

>is it because he subverts masculine expectations
Acting like a giant faggot is a step above and beyond that.

>and deftly sidesteps altercations through vocal reasoning?
He only wins because he's only pitted against people and situations that can be talked out. I'd like the see that convenience removed and see what happens.

>Diamond War didn't end with a rock-off

Dreadful

>All those words just to say "I'm a cuck"

>SEETHING TRANNY

He defeated Jasper 2 times without talking.

>Instead I just get off to being pegged!

I love cute chubby boys.

And?

Greg’s great, I wish he had his own show.

Problem is Greg's character is hurt by Steven being so ass.
>Greg vilified for wanting to spend time with his only son, has to fucking fake a broken leg to do it
>implied he'll hurt Steven's training or be bad with "magic stuff" even though he fixed the geode and has the activation code for Rose's laser light canon (clearly she expected Greg to be involved)
>Steven's Crystal Gem training actually completely halts and he never develops his powers or uses them in fights, in fact he pretty much stops fighting entirely so Greg has even less reason to not live with his son
I think at this point the only logical conclusion is that he resents the Crystal Gems just as much as they resented him and he couldn't suffer to live with them.

ur gay

shows like SU is proof cartoons are shit now
and Yea Forums liking this show proves this board is absolute garbage

Sometimes I wonder about an AU where only Greg raised Steven

The training never stopped, they've been going on missions since the beginning.

I love the style and overall vibe that SU has. It really makes it a unique and wonderful show in my opinion. Also, what you said.

Yea Forums doesn't like the show, a few tumblr migrants polluting Yea Forums with their shit taste like the show

Exactly. Like how fragile is your masculinity that you care about that shit lmfao

>Yea Forums is a uniform entity
I've been on this board for almost a decade now, and i love this show

Hey
Just want to let you know that, despite what you may think, you're worthy of love.

Steven Universe is a pretty good show, and Steven's a unique character.

Asta is a chad tho, as much as I think Black Clover is overall worse than My Hero, damn do I like Asta more than that whiny bitch Deku. He was always so proactive in accomplishing his dreams even when he knew he had so little chance to do so, unlike Deku who more or less gave up without putting in any effort, until some else gave him a chance

I like My Hero just fine but yeah there's so many more interesting and likable characters in the show besides Deku.

I will give you unique. We might have to agree to disagree on the show's quality though.
>worthy of love
Everyone is worthy of love user. Even those faggots in /pol/

Hmm, thanks, you’re worthy of love too

Now show the picture of him at 17.

Thnx.
now go kill yourself you fucking faggot.

Steven is a chad that tours on their van and leaves a bastard quater gem every town they visit.

He resulted in the death of Pearl's waifu and beat an egotistical demi-God by making her blush.

Attached: I'M GONNNEEEEEEEEE.png (540x302, 111K)

he's a good boy and I want a little brother just like him.

Incorrect. His father resulted in the death of Pearl's waifu.

He's gonna fuck all of Homeworld and White won't be able to stop him.
