So at what point in the DCEU timeline did Aquaman become popular enough to have multiple t-shirts available for purchase?
In his first appearance he was a nobody intentionally keeping hidden, and he didn't even get the symbol until his own movie, most of which took place in Atlantis.
So at what point in the DCEU timeline did Aquaman become popular enough to have multiple t-shirts available for...
>and Batman toys
for me, Shazam is out of the DC cinematic universe, like Deadpool
I feel the same way.
Presumably the JL have been doing...other hero stuff. Enough that they're all household names.
You DO see those bikers geeking out over him and asking for selfies in his movie, though
Batman and Superman make sense, Batman's been around for years, and Superman saving the world was televised worldwide. Aquaman never made surface world news.
who knows, the DCEU is a fucking mess. Trying to figure out continuity is pointless.
True, I guess it's implied he's been making a name for himself between Justice League and Aquaman off screen.
The answer for this film will he "don't worry about it". It was built with little to no regard for Snyderverse canon and future movies will probably have even less.
The future looks bright.
user you bet your ass companies would start printing merch of superheroes as long as none of them would sue.
I'd be down for that, especially considering that the DCEU is probably not the best of things to be tied to, given Snyder's trainwrecks.
My headcanon is Wayne Enterprises makes all the superhero merch to fund the Justice League's operation.
How do those merch work? Are superheroes public domains?
That....Honestly makes sense
Aquaman is mentioned as pretty famous at the beggining of his movie due to saving submarines and being the first Atlantian discovered.
It's clothing lines taking advantage of the fact they're untouchable as long as there isn't a hero stupid enough to out their identity to sue them for royalties.
You don't think that would make it obvious Bruce is Batman?
>being the first Atlantian discovered.
The media doesn't even believe in Atlantis in his own movie.
Would that make Bob Iger into Iron-Man?
He’s showed up on TV.
A bunch of dudes took selfies with him in Aquaman.
>not just another fish in the sea
Superman licenses his image to raise money for charity
Gotta admit I’d think Diana and Arthur would be dating too
Then you're retarded
Justice league, it was a world extinction event
>So at what point in the DCEU timeline did Aquaman become popular enough to have multiple t-shirts available for purchase?
Who knows or even really cares? Were you this autistic and the end of Avengers when people were wearing their merch at the end of the film
I'd probably question the fact that he's wearing an Aquaman shirt instead of Captain America or something, a hero that actually inspires kids.
that's actually a really good theory. I imagine the more upbeat superheroes of the justice league like Superman, Wonder woman, the Flash, would all be up for letting people use their images and insignia so long as it was for a good cause.
Can't tell if company war tard or legit tard. Either way it doesn't look good
Why? It's all make believe, none of that is real. Kid likes heroes, I say give Freddy a Captain America shirt, simple as that.
>give Freddy a shirt of a character WB doesn’t own
Yeah, I’m sure they’d do that
Fish Guy is cooler than Captain Steroids
Arthur Salmon is a terrorist, is what he is.
Shazam isn't canon to the DCEU anyway so they can make stuff up. Nothing stops them.
I'm merely shitposting but it would be funny if they did something stealthy à la Marvel Comics, in which DC Comics exists
Does the MCU ever reference DC stuff, I’m honestly not sure, way too many movies
Stark quips a lot about many franchises with his nicknaming, but I don't think he's ever referenced DC, no.
If Iron man was real he'd be on my list of suspects.
Cause Aquaman's not a commie faggot.
Is it so hard a stretch that DC poked fun at itself or did nods towards its other characters?
Batman toys being tossed like fodder, a kid ditching his action figures for the RL fight outside his window, and Aquaman shirts--nevermind the post-credits.
JL was well after Aquaman got the trident and symbol, and was established soon after his movie as an up and coming superhero ero to watch out for. It's like a standalone prequel to his part in JL.
And THAT my friend is why DC people having DC merch in-universe is always going to be retarded. You can't play this "WHO IS AQUAMAN" theme with people running around with Aquaman-brand clothing. They do this in the comics way too much. Do you think everyone loves the League that much? Super heroes cause them problems too. They're not all universally loved or understood, like how Spider-man is treated as a menace.
They need to think about this stuff more.
You mean where it showed that people were starting to make and sell bootleg merch with the Avenger's symbols on them because a huge event about them was just televised? No, I wasn't, that made sense.
It makes sense in DC too, I'm just wondering when it happened, since the events of Justice League were much less public, since they didn't happen in downtown Manhattan.
Cap doesn't exist in the DCEU, as a real person or a fictional character.
Eh, it had the guy who wrecked Metropolis, then saved it, then died and apparently he’s alive somehow, along with like 5 other rumored heroes, following an alien attack, I could see it
Only one that leaps to mind is Aunt May telling Peter he's not Superman in the original Raimiman.
>You can't play this "WHO IS AQUAMAN" theme with people running around with Aquaman-brand clothing.
Sure you can. It's not like people advertising a hero magically reveals his identity in the process. People make merch for anyone noteworthy. Heck, you could buy a Ted Bundy shirt on ebay right now for $20.
Okay but if they don't know his face how do they know his belt buckle?
someone saw the belt buckle well enough without seeing the face.
ITT: Autists that get irrationally upset about what is basically just a visual easter egg for the audience.
Could be a historic iconography situation. Like, 'I don't know who Aquaman is, but mythological/pseudo-historic texts shows that this is a common symbol associated with Atlantis, so it's a safe bet he has ties with it.' But of course, that's just a guess.
After Justice League. He becomes more well known to the point people ask him for pics in Aquaman. Then in that movie the world's coasts are attacked and people probably start hearing more about him. He's also mentioned in the news after saving that sub
>You can't play this "WHO IS AQUAMAN" theme with people running around with Aquaman-brand clothing.
>"WHO IS AQUAMAN"
>WONDER WOMAN NIXES AQUAMAN DATING RUMOURS
It's like if the papers were from different dates/publications or something?
Forgot how retarded you mouse niggers are unless a marvel characters has to say "REMEMBER NEW YORK?" to give you the lay of the land.
So? People definitely believe in Aquaman, they even took selfies with him. The same way people can believe in WW but not Amazonians.
Freddy lists Shazam as "ZAPtain America" on his youtube channel. Presumably Marvel comics exist within the DCEU....though probably not too popular as actual superheroes exist. I'd think it would be a watchman situation where non-superhero comics become dominate genre
Just another day on Yea Forums
>"Hey, where'd he get that shirt?"
>irrationally upset
Now THAT i'm pretty sure was just a throwaway gag.
>Freddy has a bullet that bounced off Superman, complete with certificate of authenticity
>Aquaman t-shirt? Completely implausible!
I feel like Lexcorp makes and profits off the shirts and merch since he made logos for them in BvS
Except we have a BvS batarang early in the movie and a Superman cameo at the end. Seperate it all you wan, but they are still a DCU, just one they don't intend to jam together without more thought and planning.
>A big part of Superman's movies are showing how much media presence he has
>A big part of Aquaman's movies are showing how little media presence he has
Most likely this. They are talking about Aquaman on the TV during his movie, and far all we know the JL has been active for months by then. Time passes in movie-verses unlike the comic status quos. It was several years between MoS, BvS, and JL. No reason to think Aquaman happened days afterwards.
Wat? I get the hate in some ways, but sometimes some of you froth blind bullshit. The timeline is pretty fucking simple. The movies largely happen on their production/release years, timeline wise, or the year stated onscreen. Accord to the source Google gave me Aquaman is an exception, taking place months to a year after JL. Plenty of time to start building a rep. Especially given the movie itself has news reports talking about him as a clearly active hero.
