Hawkman's, which we saw in Metal. Too bad Venditti ignored it.

Shit man, that's a nice trophy case

So get this, during the 90s, Diana's Invisible Jet was updated to be this telepathic shapeshifting entity that she got from some aliens she helped out. At one point, it has a growth spurt of sorts, and becomes a glorious floating fortress called the Wonder Dome. Comic books.

Oh, also it could shoot lasers. Because of course.

The Batcave
The Fortress if Solitude
The Hall of Justice
The Watchtower
The Tower of Fate
The Rock of Eternity
The Hall of Doom
Xavier’s Mansion
The House of Mystery

Basically any basement with cool shit collected over the years like a private museum

>Alfred Pennyworth
>Giant Penny in his hideout
Who is in charge of this

Dat Ass

I seriously love the Wonder Dome. The fact it stopped being a thing is definitive proof that DC Comics hates fun.

Plus, Diana sadly doesn't really have an iconic "lair". This'd do.

>Wonder Woman chills out with a hot bath and a nap aboard her invisible fortress.
>Meanwhile, boys across America take an incredible sudden interest in astronomy....

Bendis of course!

Batman got it once upon a time stopping a caper committed by The Penny Plunderer but since has been retconned to be a Two-Face encounter. I completely forget where the giant mechanical Tyrannosaurus came from

Knothole is a personal favorite, so comfy
Also the stump in Craig of the Creek I guess, like the stumps in TTA and LT

>DC comics hates fun
Not true. Read Wonder Twins

That's fucking awesome, how have I never heard of this?

>this again
You do know the Invisible Jet isn't see-through, right? Diana and passengers are visible in it only for the audience's benefit.

Though now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure the Dome was never once depicted as transparent.

Attached: the Wonder Dome.jpg (810x601, 76K)

Oh, and it was also kinda Cerebro. Yes, really. 90s Wonder Woman was a fuckin' trip and a half.

Because it was from Eric Luke's short lived run. And then Rucka unceremoniously killed it off in the second issue of his first series. Dammit Greg, why? .

Attached: wonder-cerebro.jpg (1988x3056, 1.83M)

>And then Rucka unceremoniously killed it off in the second issue
What was the in story reason this happened?

How did he have that built secretly? Nanomachines? Green Lantern/Superman helped him?

That's such bullshit because we all know Two-Face uses a silver dollar and wouldn't ever use a penny.

Massive embezzling, fake contracts/dummy companies, ordering parts separately then assembling them at home, and a little help from Lucius Fox

To be fair, everything from Eric Luke's run was bad and deserved to retconned away.

Okay, just looked it up. It was issue 201, and it sacrificed itself to stop a tidal wave from destroying a damaged Themyscira. Okay, so not unceremoniously, it did get a proper sendoff. Still lame to kill it off though.

In fairness, it was likely editorial mandate, since earlier in the run, Diana explains at a press conference why she needs an Invisible Jet when she can fly. Cargo, passengers, y'know, the obvious and logical reasons.

A pity, that things as cool as fuck. Also I've been thinking of getting in to DC because I like Wonder Woman.

The problem with the Wonder Dome was that it was introduced by Eric Luke in his run as an attempt to make the Kingdom Come-y SMWW ship somewhat canon. The alien shape-shifting creature kidnapped Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman, and placed them inside a telepathically constructed reality where Wonder Woman and Superman got together and built the world an utopia. Eventually everyone wakes up and Wonder Woman teaches the thing to not pull that anymore, but every time Luke would write the thing in his stories the Wonder Dome was treated as some sort of shrine for the love that never was between her and Superman. She'd have crystallized statues of them together everywhere. It was creepy as fuck, specially because Superman was a happily married man who didn't see her in the same way.

So i think the big reason DC eventually did away with the Wonder Dome fortress is because it was too connected to Wonder Woman acting like a homewrecker stalker who didn't get the memo. The whole thing was nothing but a shrine to Superman.

Luke's run wasn't bad, just kinda meh. It had some good ideas, but the execution was sadly lacking.

Cool. Try out the stuff by George Perez, William Messnar Loebs, and Gail Simone. You also check out League of One and Wonder Woman: Earth One if you want some introductory one shots. Legend of Wonder Woman is also pretty solid, and the infamous Dennis O'Niel run is actually pretty good despite its reputation. Greg Rucka's Rebirth run is also decent, though a bit slow. Enjoy!

Well you could always just retcon how she got it in new canon. Like I don’t know, it being a gift from New Genesis for saving Orion one time.

Sure, but how would you retconned the main reason it exists? It's better to just do away with it and introduce something else in its place, which Rucka tried to do with the embassy stuff.

>indicating Gail Simone
>not Phill Jimenez
>indicating Greg Rucka's Rebirth run and not his first pre-Flashpoint run
Come on, man.

Fuck, I knew I was forgetting someone. Yes, please also check out Phil Jimenez' and Greg Rucka's first run.

Jill Thompson's True Amazon is also good.

... Give it a different reason for existing. It ain't hard, user. Have the Dome just sense that Diana needs a proper headquarters. It is basically her psychic pet after all.

Even more reason to make it New God tech since their technology is basically self aware. You could say for doing a great service, Diana was gifted "The Wonder Dome", which are old New God mobile outposts and it takes the form/architecture of Themysciran to make it more homely. I suppose with it you could also introduce The Purple Ray and The Invisible Jet too, fabricated by The Wonder Dome. I suppose you could also make the dome itself a character, kind of like FRIDAY with Iron Man. She could also use it as a means to store some magical artifacts from her adventures.

Just a few thoughts

It could also serve as the new Themysciran embassy. Always liked when the book played up Diana's role as ambassador.

Or we could use Themyscera. Just a thought.

While Themyscira is her homeland, it's not really a "lair". The entire point was Diana leaving her home, going out into Man's World, and helping the innocent, and by making her keep going back there kind of clashes with that. Then there's the whole thing with her mom, and her throwing a fit bringing shit home and endangering The Amazons, etc. Plus The Wonder Dome broadens the Wonder Woman material out, not pigeonholing the book to just Greek epics and themes.

That's my point. Themyscera should be a blend of magical and technological marvel. Keeping the place as a outdated Barbarian fantasy land is stupid.
Making Wonder Woman's "fortress" - just because the boys have one - be something focused on Superman or the New Gods is also stupid. If she should ever have a fortress, make it be part of her own lore and not something from the greater DCU. Superman's Fortress was built from the remnants of Krypton, not something that was gifted to him by Batman or someone else. Likewise Batman's cave is something beneath his ancestral home, not something given to him by Zatanna or whoever. If Wonder Woman ought to have something, it should come from the amazons. Not someone else.

That's just my two-cents. If it were me, i'd pull a John Byrne and bring back Gateway City as a home-tuff and have her base of operations be an old house that the amazons have been using as a hideout for generations whenever they came to study Man's World progress. So it's kinda like a mausoleum filled with ancient stuffs said amazons have got and kept and that nowadays pose as a museum.

>Themyscira a blend of technology and magic
Yeah no. Of course we could make The Wonder Dome a magical palace/temple that floats in the sky given to her by Zeus himself. That'd be neat

That's a good point. It's also pretty gross that Themyscira seems to be in perpetual limbo these days for seemingly no reason. Why restrict the kind of stories you can tell just so Diana can have a bunch of boring "boo hoo I'm homesick" moments? It's fucking dumb.

>Gateway City
You. I like you. Diana could do with her own city as well. Personally, I'd take the name literally, and have be the site of Doom's Doorway--speaking of cool concepts that need to come back.

If you want an example of this actually happening in real life, look into HH Holmes Murder Castle. He was a serial killer who built an entire "hotel" that was designed in such a way that it was basically a labyrinth and had tons of secret rooms and hidden doorways and all kinds of things like that. He did this by hiring a few dozen different companies to construct different pieces and gave them all different and often conflicting blueprints and forcing them to make completely nonsensical stuff that all worked for what HH Holmes was actually trying to do.

It is not unreasonable that someone like Bruce Wayne, with the money and connections he has, to do something similar.

Sorry for being rude to you right now, but i need to kindly tell you to go fuck yourself. No hard feelings.
First: there's no reason to keep the amazons as perpetual ignorant barbarians wearing sword and sandals that know nothing of the larger world and has little to offer outside of outdated harsh criticisms.
Second: Diana should never be coddled or pampered by any male god, and specially one such as the rapist Zeus.

Then Aphrodite or Hera or fucking whomever. You start throwing technology into Themyscira and then all you ultimately have is a dry land Atlantis with a one gender population. And they're not ignorant barbarians as you put it, way to shit on The Amazons. What they have to offer the world is a wealth of knowledge, philosophy, and arguably could be the perfect collection of peacekeepers/diplomats on the planet if done right.

There's no need for you to be a complete dick when discussing this shit.

>not posting the multi-page spread from All-Star Batman

More of a base of operations, but I love the Axalon. Camping out next to the Ark wasn't nearly as cool.

The amazons used to be technological, and there's no problem with it. They can be distinct from the atlanteans without having to reduce and limit them.
And the amazons have been displayed as ignorant barbarians that never left their home or advanced technologically/culturally in centuries. DC wants them as nothing but some boring ancient Greek society with a bit of magic fused in.

I want my space-faring Venuvian amazons back, godmamn it!

If the Gods would gift Wonder Woman a technology so great it's magical in the form of "Wonder Dome", why wouldn't have they done the same for the rest of the amazons?

Kinda faulty logic there.

Yeah, used to be technological. Can't say I blame them for ditching that. I actually like the idea of an ageless paradise from another time.

Because they're self-centered, backwards isolationist savages.

It wouldn't be technology then, just a magic floating glass temple. Besides the gods already gave The Amazons Themyscira which is a fucking Eden on Earth that won't age.

I agree. I don't think they really need it.

I'm sorry, but we don't see eye to eye. It's very easy for writers to turn the "ageless paradise from another time" into a "barbaric land that never evolved" or even a commentary on "this matriarchal society comprised of only women never managed to evolve over time because women".

Case in point: .

If it can morph itself at will and makeup invisible jets for Diana to use, it can be called a science so evolved it seems magical, and there's no reason why the gods would gift Diana something like this and not the rest of the amazons. So logically all of Themyscira is built with the same thing. The amazons all have invisible jets. Making the discussion and distinction moot.

The invisible ufo, I can dig it

That's a fault of the writer, not the concept itself. That's like hating Atlantis because they have a coup every other week

The reasons writers pull that shit every now and then is because the concept gives them the leeway for such a thing, user.

Again, why desire for Wonder Woman to have a alien fortress that can grant her all kinds of tech, but go and wish for the rest of the amazons to remain in the ancient ghetto they find themselves in. This kind of thinking keep pushing the idea that Wonder Woman is a better person because she's distinct from the other amazons. Something that Brian Azzarello ended up taking advantage of.

Again, why do you keep saying Amazons are a bunch of knuckle dragging brutes? I'd argue you're shitting on them more than some writers have. They're a civilization of women warriors who live on a beautiful island paradise who are perfectly happy where they are. You're getting awful defensive and a tad aggressive because they're not exactly what YOU want them to be.

A bit on the low tech end, but I present The Arrowcave!...Also known as The Quiver

Attached: arrow-cave.jpg (1922x1472, 304K)

Fairytale castle outside, crazy Kirby-tech inside.

Attached: doom base.jpg (1061x1500, 1.46M)

Is it just me or have lairs really gone down in prominence? It just feels like they aren't as much of a thing as they used to be.

I'm saying that because every now and them some writer will portray them as such, because this desire to keep them as isolated women who still believe they live in Ancient Greece and sport togas and spears give said writers credence to do such a thing. If they were also a technological marvel it would be harder to justify portraying them as a bunch of barbarian women.

Rich people probably have a lot of creepy dungeons if you think about it.

I loved 90's Mainframe. There were so many cool places in ReBoot but I'm not sure of any of them count as a secret base. Hex's tower. Megabyte's Torr, the Principle office, Dot's Diner, the Saucy Mare in web creature corpse armour.

Wait never mind I reread OPs and they're totally liars and based.

Ghostbusters HQ was one of my favourites too. I had the massive playset from a yard sale.

Power rangers had some cool shit too.

DC should just make that imagined utopia a parallel reality.

Fuck no. SMWW is cancer and sucks.

Does Green Arrow have one in the comics? I always liked his lair in Arrow

The Quiver is also a cool name

Not really. Because they can have technological Marvels and still be complete cunts. Just look at Wakanda. So your point is kind of weak on that front and doesn't really add anything, only really expressing your own favored idea on how you want Amazons to be.

Just let them be a timeless paradise.

>Just let them be a timeless paradise.
No.

Then I suppose you really don't like Wonder Woman and want it to cater to your exclusive tastes. Sorry, user.

>quiver

Attached: that is better.png (688x560, 861K)

>Just let them be a stagnant, uninteresting artifact that has no relevance to the rest of the setting.
That's lame and extremely retarded. In-universe, they were created to bring peace and love to the world, but they never actually do it because writers and editors are stupid hacks, and the Amazons themselves almost never allowed into a position where they could have an impact on anything. Fuck your status quo bullshit, the Amazons should have a strong tech base so they can actually do something for once.

They already had a kid together and it's canon because of the hypercrisis, SuperWonder makes sense too from a powers point of view, shit really would be a utopia though I prefer Superman line + 5D imp progeny best.

That has nothing to do with technology you dunce. They can still be ambassadors of peace and love throughout the world and interact without having fucking spaceships

Amazons had spaceships built for them in the 700th century if memory serves me right, shit is cool.

I can honestly say I want the kangaroos back more than the spaceships. Let's stop making fictional cities nearly identical.

>kangaroos
?

Also the infinie amount of alternate DC timelines and such makes it easy to keep everyone satisfied I'd say.

Amazons rode on battle kangaroos. Diana had one named Kanga.

Attached: Wonder Woman and her fucking Kangaroos.jpg (1609x1024, 369K)

....... that's fucking awesome

>nothing to do with technology
Talk softly, but carry a big stick. It's hard to try and facilitate any kind of peace if nobody takes you seriously, which they will not if all you have is bronze age crap.

And yes, this would, on its surface, seem to be a contradiction. Almost like this could make for an interesting and nuanced thriller. But we wouldn't want the character who is a literal politician getting involved in politics, would we. For fucks sake.

Also this, it's cool. It also opens up paths for a wider variety of stories, but nevermind that, yet more god drama and Diana crying over missing her mom. Cause that didn't get boring well over two fucking decades ago.

Nigga they are immortal warriors blessed by the gods who fought Atlantis to a standstill using arrows and shit. Quit trying to excuses to tie your personal preference on wanting another MCU Asgard.

I know this is hard for you to understand, but Themyscirans can offer knowledge of diplomacy, peace, and truth without having to build a fucking rocket ship

Fucking cool, which issue?

>Themyscirans can offer knowledge of diplomacy, peace, and truth without having to build a fucking rocket ship
Okay, and how exactly are they going to do that without the clout that metaphorical rocket ship would grant them?

And no, merely being immortal warrior women sin gonna cut it. Atlantis exists in the DCU there's a technologically advanced city of sapient gorillas in the middle of Africa. The Earth has been invaded by aliens multiple times. Truth is, the Amazons ain't special, so they'd need an edge to actually matter in the grand scheme of things.

>Hey lets change Amazons into another dime a dozen advanced civilization!
Dumbass. Also I find it fucking hilarious you can't comprehend a society being able to offer the world anything if they haven't build a damn spaceship

Oh, so they should remain shitty and useless just for the sake of being different. That's a special kind of stupid, but whatever.

And unfortunately, yeah, they kinda do need some kind of clout in order for anyone to take them seriously and listen to their message. Why the fuck would any nation give a flying rats ass about what a bunch of peaceniks with bronze age tools have to say about anything? They'd be laughed out of the UN building.

Now say the Amazons had invisible jet planes, healing rays, and, yes, a healthy space program. Now they have people's attention.

Neat but fuck that looks cramped

No you idiot, why do you keep repeating this nonsense? The fact that you think all Amazons have to offer the world is material things and instantly judge their way of life being simpler and thus worthless just shows how much of an autistic short sighted moron you rally are. I'm beginning to think you're a causal who just wants Wakanda 2.0 or some dumb shit.

Okay, now you are intentionally mis interpreting what I am saying.

The Amazons want to spread peace and love to the world. The other nations of the world will ignore that message unless it is backed up by power. The technology is not the offering, it is the signal to pay attention.

Like, that's just how shit works, yo.

They have magic and a well disciplined fighting force to rival Atlantis. They can be taken seriously enough as is. I know Flashpoint is a stupid story, but cmon user.

>No Sanctum

Attached: Sanctum_Sanctorum_from_Marvel_Fact_Files_Vol_1_16.jpg (1495x2439, 1.5M)

>they have magic
No they don't.

>disciplined fighting force to rival Atlantis
No they fucking don't. They currently have NOTHING that allows them to be remotely relevant on the world stage.
