She could detonate the entire planet and it wouldn't actually matter - the whole family would just reappear sitting on the moon, saying "God damn it, Luan."

It's a lazy plot tool that goes against the purpose of the show, being sibling and family dynamics. Also that episode was absolutely godawful for a myriad of reasons other than the love interest. For a gag, Luan talked to Mr Coconuts and he even had his own personality for two lines in a few episodes, but she was straight fucking schizo in that one.
