In Humility, 2D has white eyes until Russel trips him, at which point his eyes return to black and he can barely stand on skates, let alone gracefully dance like he does in the rest of the video. In Tranz, his eyes are white again, and some of the imagery implies that he's a lifeless husk being puppeteered by something.
Additionally, is the addition of Ace from Powerpuff Girls opening the door to include Him, who was potentially referenced on Jack Black's shirt in the Humility video.

Having Ace be in the band proved to be too much of a logistical nightmare which lead to the storyline of Murdoc's incarceration to be cut short and have him come back to the band. The story potential was certainly there, with 2D being this weird egotistical douche but still dimwitted without Murdoc to keep him in check, but that shit went nowhere.
