How did she become Limelight? How did she get so powerful? What did I miss?
So, one question Yea Forums
all I want to know is if the fatal 5 died at the end
did she kill them ? last time we saw them she crushes them with the building ceiling
Is Kilowog dead? How will Green Lanterns function with the battery all drained out?
She overcame her fears. Hit your low then a big burst of willpower to start climbing out, pretty basic GL stuff.
He got better?
Probably didn't completely drain it, or they figured out a way to recharge/jumpstart it. How many times has the Central Battery been drained or destroyed at this point?
There's probably a squad of AAA Lantern's out there just sitting on call at this point.
>She overcame her fears.
How? When? Where?
Imagine being born in the future knowing one day you will go back in time and become the sun since it's written in the history books.
>Limelight
More like Lamelight
She took a nice nap and woke up refreshed. Perfectly valid explanation.
>Gets the Green Lantern Corps destroyed.
>Almost dies.
>Instantly becomes more powerful than Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman combined.
Mary Cruz is truly an inspiration to us all.
My favorite part is when the heroes came from the future to stare at an empty grave. Too bad the smartest person in the universe didn't think to go back in time and save him instead of morn him.
Brainiac probably knew from the start exactly what was going to happen, it's in the archives.
Why do you think the trap was left exactly at 99% with only a push of a button left?
>Superheroes exist in future
>This eliminates all scarcity
What did they mean by this Yea Forums?
Only the smartest person in the universe could come up with such a well-thought-out plan. Genius!
>Limelight
Was this idea of her becoming some badass named Limelight made up for this movie? Google is not helping me learn about this Limelight person.
I guess it might be a console that, eventually, given the apparent fluidity of time travel, that the JL might actually be able to stop the Fatal 5 before they blow up the fucking sun.
Is that what he was trying so hard to remember?
>Two of your friends die
>Hide in fear from the world and all it's evil
>Two more of your friends die or at least horribly wounded
>Immediately go off to fight that evil
No clue what possible fear she could have possibly overcame there. Even having the whole "find your mantra" forced down your throat in the beginning doesn't help shine a light on what it could be.
>make a Green Lantern
>call them "Lime Light"
For what purpose,
No. If that were the case, the mission all along would have been to send Star Boy back in time before the attack.
Either time is immutable or it isn't. This shit was handled better on the TV show.
earth lanterns randomly going super saiyan is a pretty established trope. Hal did it, Kyle did it. John actually became a Guardian for about two minutes once.
Also getting the whole corps destroyed is also a reoccurring thing for earth lanterns.
I was more wondering about all the personal that might have survived in that facility.
you missed shit writting and Marie sue powercreep.
>earth lanterns randomly going super saiyan is a pretty established trope. Hal did it, Kyle did it. John actually became a Guardian for about two minutes once.
Well it is the strongest weapon in the universe, so it's not like it doesn't make sense. I still think it could've been handled better in the movie, her fixing her own ring, and beating them all, was too much imo.
Would be nice to know what show/movie you are referring to.
It’s a nickname you retards. There’s a thousand other Green Lanterns. Furthermore, Hal does this overcome great fear power boost all the time and no one says a damn thing
No, no, that's every comic hero.
Hal endures immeasurable physical and psychological stress and fights through it using his strength of will to power up.
Marica Conchita Lopez Cruz takes a nap, wakes up, and gets a powerup.
Not the same.
Hal and Kyle have been severely OP Mary Sue-ish and it has nothing to do with whatever personal fear you try to sell. Hal casually tells Nekron to fuck off during 3rd army and makes a ring from his own will, while Kyle masters they entire fucking spectrum. But miraculously when Jess overcomes her own fear and gets a power boost like every other fucking Lantern does, you suddenly have a problem with it
> But miraculously when Jess overcomes her own fear...
HOW? Based on what?
Oh well you see [SCENE DELETED]
No, but seriously, they wanted to convey a collapse into helplessness and a realization of courage with being trapped and the other lanterns being down but it fails miserably because the scene is poorly done and they fail to make her look bad with her powers or scared to fight previously
I had a lot of issues with this movie.
The vast majority are simply a laundry list of ways Green Lanterns have been depowered over time. Including stupid shit like attacking their rings directly and ignoring the ring has safety measures to save unconscious users. Also generally making them so fucking weak they might as well not have made the story at all.
""""""""""Greatest Weapon In the Galaxy""""""""""
Why the fuck do so many writers blatantly hate GLs?
Same reason writers make Superman job all the time.
That's not the problem. The problem is that there's no build up and no climax for her character arc. It skips straight from the initial state of the character to the post-arc state of the character without the actual fucking arc.
All it needed was a tiny bit of focus on why she was down (her fear, ptsd) and why she overcame it (should've been determination to save starboy and the lanterns)
Fuck, if you won't animate it at least give her a little fucking monologue!
She literally just wakes up, looks around, says the oath, and poof!
Hey I’m not denying it was poorly handled, I’m just baffled that this is considered a new complaint when past GLs have done the exact same thing.
GLs are the perfect jobbers to showcase new threats. The concept also demands creative writers
We're arguing about how it was handled, that's the entire issue
Emotional powerups are hero's journey 101
>why do writers hate an entire universe's worth of godlike space cops that they habe to write around every time they want a new large-scale story
Gee I wonder
>GLs are the perfect jobbers to showcase new threats. The concept also demands creative writers
I'd rather GL's not be a thing at all if this is how it's handled. I feel that way about any similar character. I'd rather them simply not exist than have some useless wanker in the story who only exists to prove a point.
>when past GLs have done the exact same thing.
Not in the DCAU. John never did anything impressive.
Just delete Batman. This kind of shit happens because the writers are batman faggots.
Jon absorbed, purified, and relit all the energy of the power battery in, like, episode 5 of justice league
Power ups from emotional arcs are fine - the problem is they did a shit job with her arc
>Is Kilowog dead?
I assumed that yes, but heard later that the DVD commentary says otherwise (haven't seen it myself so can't confirm).
I was left wondering about the battery too, and about the Fatal Five. The movie was kinda vague about some important plotpoints.
Animated movie anygood? Haven't watched it yet. Is my boy Starman a schizo here?
Story is lacking and animation is subpar.
Ah so like the past 3 Timm animated movies. Yikes
All of those things I fucking hate that make no sense are bad decisions from a creative perspective. There are plenty of ways you can create drama without trying to justify destroying possibly the oldest organization in the galaxy and weakening other lanterns to the point that the ring itself seems like a joke rather than a legit weapon. It is also possible to allow your gl character to have a sudden surge in power either by personal, emotional growth like in will world or via "the limiters on your ring being removed" or some such logical explanation.
The point is, people who use those plot points like this are hacks and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near comics, much less writing a green lantern story. If you lack imagination to such an extent than do something else with your time, but leave the gl corps alone damn it.
